Via, Marlene Yvvone

Marlene Yvvone Via, age 69, of Ola, AR died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born March 30, 1937 at Elkins, WV to Frank and Lillian Bratton Martin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 49 years, Charles "Dick" Via.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Joel David and Gracie Via of Dover, AR and Frank and Virginia Via of Belleville, AR; one daughter, Brenda Via of Ola, AR; grandson and companion Richard Via and Brenda Harman of Waldron, AR; two granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, Stacy and David Marshall of Belleville, AR and Jennifer Via of Dardanelle, AR and three great granddaughters.

Funeral service was June 16, 2006 at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Bro. Tim Via officiating. Interment was in Birta Cemetery. Norbin Ray Via, age 72, of Ola, died Sunday, September 27, 2009 at his residence. He was born March 2, 1937, at Centerville, Arkansas to Thomas and Ruby George Via. He was a member of the Birta Missionary Baptist Church and a 42nd degree Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bud Via, Donald Via, Bobby Via; and one sister, Theda Via.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Jane Mincher Via of Ola; one son, Tommy Via, of Russellville; two daughters and sons in-law, Sharon and Tony Burfield of Plainview, and Marilyn and Jim Bowden, of Dardanelle; one step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Kim and Dennis Reynolds of Oklahoma; six sisters, Aline Eubanks of Gary Indiana, Betty Sullivan of Ola, Velma Deb Eldridge of Ola, Sue Hance of Casa, Kathleen Freeman of Ola, and Patsy VanVleet Dardanelle, 8 grandchildren; and 10 great grand children.

The funeral service will be 10 a. m., Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at Birta Missionary Baptist Church at Birta with the Rev. Jason Johnston officiating, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service, Pallbearers will be Ray Jackson, Doug Via, Ricky Via, Sammy Via, Brent Via, Gary Freeman, and Little Tony Burfield. Via, Thomas Allen "Tommy"

Thomas "Tommy" Allen Via, age 54, of Plainview died Monday, April 3, 2017, at UAMS in Little Rock. He was born November 6, 1963, at Amarillo, Texas to Norbin Ray and Mary Nell Smith Via. Tommy enjoyed a lot of things and lived life to the fullest. Most of all he loved his family, especially his children.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norbin Via; stepfather, Larry Bates; step-brother, Scott England and stepsister, Kimela Reynolds.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Nell Bates; six children, Destiny Via, Morgan Via, Devin Via, Mason Via, McKenzie Fox and Riley Via; two sisters, Sharon Burfield and husband Tony, Marilyn Bowden and husband Jim; one brother, Dewayne Bates and wife Ginny; four grandchildren; his beloved dog, Ryder and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 7, 2017, at the Plainview Jesus Name Church with Bro. Danny Worsham and Bro. Stacy Lisenby officiating. Burial was at Birta Cemetery. Via, Tom

Birta Man killed in Car Wreck -Tom Via of Birta was killed in a head-on automobile collision near Wickliffe, Ky. Saturday night. His Son Donald Via, 24 and wife, Wilma, were also injured in the accident. Kenneth Stockwell, driver of the other car, was also seriously injured. Kentucky State Police said the accident occurred on an approach to a bridge. Mrs. Ruby Via, wife of the deceased, was notified of the accident by telephone. The three had been home for Thanksgiving and were returning to their jobs in Chicago, Ill. Donald and wife are in St. Mary Hospital in Cairo, Ill.

Survivors to Tom Via, in addition to his widow, include four sons, Thedford of Gary, Ind. Donald of Chicago, Norbin and Bobby of Birta; six daughters, Mrs. Charles Eubanks and Mrs. J. W. Via, Wilma Fay (Hance)

Wilma Fay Via, 75 of Ola, died Friday, September 30, 2011, at River Valley Medical Center in Dardanelle. She was born June 19, 1936 in Needmore, AR (Perry County) to the late Usty Edmond and Ethel Alexander Hance. She was a nursing aide at Mitchell's Nursing Home and a member of the Ola Free Will Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Tom Via; sister, Hazel Robinson; and brother, Bud Hance.

Survivors include her children, Donna and Bud Walker of Russellville, Sammy Via of Ola, Ricky and Nancy Via of Pottsville, and Doug and Amie Via of Dardanelle; two brothers, George and Luther Hance of Casa; three sisters, Bernice Scruggs of Casa, Betty Tanner of Concord, AR and Lola Smith of Plainview; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Vick, A. C. (Mrs.)

Mrs. A. C. Vick, who was a native of Yell County was born July 12, 1867 and departed this life on April 6th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Snelling, of Althiemer. She was a member of the Baptist Church and of the American Legion Auxiliary.

In addition to her daughter she is survived by four sons John Brown and Nick Brown of Sherrell, Henry Brown of Althiemer, Alfred Brown of Fort Smith; four brothers, John Moudy, Will Moudy and Nick Moudy of Belleville and Dan Moudy of California; by 35 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

Vick, Tony

Tony Vick, age 52, of Dardanelle, died Friday, December 1, 2017, at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. He was born July 27, 1965, at Hughs, Arkansas to Bill and Wanda Roberts Vick. He was of the Baptist faith. He love to garden and he was an excellent cook. He always cooked Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.

He was preceded in death by his father, sister, Janie Brown and brother, Danny Vick.

Survivors include his mother, Wanda Black of Dardanelle; brother Glen Vick (Nancy) of Havana; sisters, Brenda McPherson of Dardanelle, Patricia Cheney of Forrest City, Janice Holman of Forrest City and JoAnn Zachery of Clarendon, and a host of nieces, nephew, family and friends.

Pete Viers, age 74 of Maud, TX, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at his home. He was born March 25, 1934, in Blackwell, Okla. He was a retired businessman, a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Corinthian Masonic Lodge, Leadville, CO, Fellowship Sunday School Class and First Baptist Church, Atlanta, and a Korean War Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Viers of Maud; one son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Juanita Viers of Mercedes, TX; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Laura Lackey Vincent, age 88, of Beebe, AR passed away Sunday, February 23, 1997. She was a retiree from Franklin Electric Company in Jacksonville, AR. She was a member of Hickory Plains Methodist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Martha Imalene Aikin of Dardanelle, Willodene Vincent of Beebe, Georgia Ann Hopkins and husband, Mickey Hopkins of Murfreesboro, TN; two grandchildren, Emily Kathleen Reed of Edmond, OK and Jim Aikin of Gainesville, FL and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, George Pleas Vincent.

Independence, MO. -- Mrs. Lena Mae Moore Vinson, 66, of Independence, MO., formerly of Dardanelle, died Monday, Feb. 13, in Independence. A native of Dardanelle, Mrs. Vinson was a daughter of the late Elmer and Grace Shepherd Moore.

Survivors include a son, Gene Allen Vinson of Pleasant Hill, MO.; a daughter, Laura Jenkins of Independence; three sisters, Mrs. Julius Adney, Mrs. Roy Roberts and Mrs. A. D. "Bully" Cox all of Dardanelle, and three grandchildren.

Vinson, Melvin

Melvin Vinson, 85, died, Saturday, April 15, 2017, at the VA Hospital in Little Rock. He was born in Pope County, September 1, 1931, raised in the Carden Bottom community of Yell County.

Melvin is preceded in death by his wife, Modean Vinson; parents, George and Laura Brock Vinson; two brothers, Rufus Garfield Vinson and a toddler; four sisters, Elsie Wood, Sadie Pruitt, Lorene Conner and Anna Lee Balanger.

He is survived by three children; Dennis Vinson & Tina, London, Sheila Loyd & Kurt, Pottsville, Jerry Vinson & Teresa, Russellville; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Shirley Ann Vivyan age 64 of Dardanelle died Friday, December 21, 2012 at River Valley Medical Center in Dardanelle. She was born August 7, 1948 in Dardanelle, Arkansas to the late Harry May and Wanda May Apple. Shirley loved to garden especially taking care of her rose bushes and most of all she loved her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Rogers and one grandson, Gregory Latham.

Voast, Melba Alice "Mammie" (Culp) Van

Funeral services for Melba "Mammie" Alice Culp Van Voast, 82, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Bright officiating.

Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery. Wilkerson Funeral Home, De Queen, is in charge of arrangements. Voast died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, in De Queen. She was born June 23, 1926, in De Queen to James and Alice Billingsley Culp. She was a member of the Geneva Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ralph, Homer, Harley and Jim (Buck) Culp; two sisters, Inell McClenahan and Madge Dunn; and one grandson, Charles (Chuck) Nevels.

Lillian M. Vodrazka of Dardanelle, age 100, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2011 at Orange Coast Memorial Hospital in Fountain Valley, California with her family at her bedside. Lillian was born in Dardanelle, Arkansas on February 04, 1911 to Frank J.

and Cina Balloun who preceded her in death. Also, preceding her in death was her husband, George J. Vodrazka.

She is survived by her daughter, Judith (David) Vogel of Huntington Beach, CA, her granddaughter, Lisa (Jeff) Graff of Mission Viejo, CA and two great grand children, Donna and Chad Graff of Mission Viejo. CA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

Linda J. Vodrazka, age 67, of Dardanelle died Friday, September 18, 2015, at the River Valley Medical Center in Dardanelle. She was born October 12, 1947, in the Mt. George Community to the late John and Maggie Barnett Fowler. She retired after 16 years as secretary in the Administration and Finance Department at Arkansas Tech University. She was a member of the Delaware First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Junior Fowler and James Fowler, sisters, Jewel Painter, Reba Guarino and Louise Tucker.

Sybil Vodrazka of Chickalah, AR did Saturday, May 8, 2004 at her home. She was born May 20, 1939 in Round Pond, St. Francis Co. AR to the late Monroe D. Emberson and Naomi Witt Emberson. She was a member of Gately Hill Primitive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Frank Max Vodrazka and a brother, Ray Emberson.

Survivors include two sons, Keith W. Vodrazka of Lakeland, TN and Steven M. Vodrazka of Ridgeland, MS; a daughter, Karen M. Gerot of Dover, AR; four brothers, Floyd Emberson of Dardanelle, Daniel Emberson of Ola, Ed Emberson of Centerville, Robert Emberson of Beebee; three sisters, Olene Curry of Little Rock, Wilma Floyd and Frances Eaton both of Dardanelle and four grandchildren.

Myrtle Mae Malloy Volz, age 94, a resident of Dover, AR, died Monday, May 4, 1998 at home. She was born on November 28, 1903 at Appleton, AR to Jack and Elizabeth Beaver McCoy. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Dover First Assembly of God Church. She was a widow, preceded in death by two husbands, Vannie Malloy and John Volz; one son, Norman Ray Malloy; one grandson, Randy Malloy; two granddaughters, Judy Malloy and Marie Malloy; one great-grandchild, infant Hunt; one great-great-granddaughter, Samatha Pace and six brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Arville Malloy of Appleton, Archie and Lucille Malloy of Russellville, Eugene and Jeannie Malloy of Sikeston, MO, Carl and Sue Malloy of Canalou, MO and Robert and Mancy Malloy of Lawton, OK; seven daughters and sons-in-law, Vada Reynolds of Centerville, Anna Moss of Shawnee, OK, Evelyn and Tom Burton of Dover, AR, Ruth Burnett of Exeter, CA, Joyce and Jack Waters of Catron, MO, Celesta Daniel of Dover, AR and Irene and Stan Reed of Oak Harbor, WA; 30 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Biddie Rogers of No. Little Rock, AR; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was May 7, 1998 at the Humphrey Chapel, officiated by Rev. Ronnie Birge and assisted by Rev. Ronnie Malloy. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Appleton. Vorster, Pete

Pete Vorster, 55 of Dardanelle, AR died Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at his home in Dardanelle, AR. He was born September 7, 1953 in Paris, AR to his parents, William Vorster and Anna Rotert) Vorster Furstenberg. He was a member of the Catholic Knights since 1954, serving on the National Board of Directors. He was a national board member since July 2005. He previously served as branch president, treasurer, vice president, and secretary as well as president and treasurer of the Catholic Knights state office. In the community, he served as a Eucharistic minister, usher and server for his church. He also coached his daughter's softball team and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He had been employed as an auditor with the Division of Legislative Audit for the state of Arkansas for 22 years and is a certified Public Accountant.

He is preceded in death by his father, William A. Vorster; one brother, Ben Vorster; and a sister, Kathy Vorster. Pete is survived by his wife Donna Carol (Ragsdale Vorster; a son, William Vorster and a daughter, Laura Vorster of the home; his mother, Anna Vorster Furstenberg and step-father, Adrian Furstenberg of Subiaco, AR; one brother, David Vorster of Subiaco, AR; two sisters, Debra Vorster of Subiaco, AR, Joan Stone and husband Howard of Nashville, TN and numerous other family and friends.

At the age of 12, he and his family moved to Danville. He retired after 35 years as a switchman for the Union Pacific Railroad and was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Dardanelle.
