Turner, Harold Lynn

Havana Man Killed as Car Hits Bridge Harold L. Turner, 26, of Havana was killed at about 10 p.m. last Thursday night when his car struck the bridge at the north edge of Danville. State Trooper Richard Powell, who was parked at Clemons Service Station, said he saw Turner go by at a high rate of speed and had started to pull out after him when he heard the crash three blocks away. Turner was pulled out of the car by Powell and others and taken to the Yell County Hospital, where he died a few minutes after arrival. He was apparently killed by a highway sign that pierced the car. A fire in the motor, which was several feet from the demolished car, was put out with a hand extinguisher by Powell. Turner was a student at Arkansas Tech and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Havana.

He is survived by a son, Phillip, and daughter, Brenda Lee, of Austin, Tex.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Turner of Havana; two brothers, James of Fayetteville and Robert of Waveland; three sisters, Mrs. Nina Bonner of Newark, Calif., Mrs. Phyllis Jester of Booneville and Mrs. Patricia Gwinn of Valiant, Okla.

Turner, Hazel Nodine

Hazel Nodine Turner, age 71, of Waycross, GA formally of Danville, died Wednesday, June 5, 1997 in Waycross. She was born August 21, 1925 in Cogdell, GA, daughter of the late Charlie and Zithia May Whaite. She was a mother, homemaker, restaurant and hotel owner.

Survivors include her husband, William Turner, SR. a son and daughter in law, William "Bill" and Darlene Turner Jr. of Danville. A sister, Yvonne Lewis of Waycross, GA, several nephews and nieces.

Funeral service will be held Monday, June 9, 1997 at 2:00 p. m. at the Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel in Danville with Reverend Tom Deere and Elder James Issaac officiating. Turner, Howard D.

Howard D. Turner, age 70, or Rover, AR died Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, AR. He was born July 20, 1930 at Alpin, AR, the son of the late Howard W. Turner and Effie Rounsaville. He was a 20 year Army Veteran serving in Korea and Vietnam, a cattleman and farmer. He was retired from Wayne Farms.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, LaRue Pugh Turner; a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Brenda Turner of Rover, AR; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and David Butler of Mablevale; four grandchildren, Jennifer Turner McConnell and Thomas Turner of Rover and Christ and Aaron Butler of Mablevale, AR and a great-granddaughter, Katelyn McConnell of Rover, AR.

Howard D. Turner, age 70, of Rover, AR died Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, AR. He was born July 20, 1930 at Alpin, AR, the son of the late Howard W. Turner, J. R.

J. R. Turner, age 102, died peacefully, June 1, 2012 in Danville. He was born September 13, 1909 in Wing, Arkansas, youngest son of John Rana and Effie Woolbright Turner. He grew up with siblings, Mima, Sam and Buell. He married the former Mabel Atkinson and moved to Ola in 1937, where he operated several businesses, including lumber and pulp wood businesses and gas stations during World War II. In 1949 he moved to West Texas, working in the home building industry in oil boom country, eventually opening Turner Heating and Cooling in Kermit, Texas. He eventually returned to Yell County, and Wing, and lived in Ola and Danville for the last several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Atkinson Turner, and siblings, Mima, Buford, Buell Turner, and Sam Turner.

He is survived by his son, John E. Turner (Sally Connolly) of Louisville, Kentucky, and five grandchildren, Leigh Price (Tim), Lora Shields (Jerry), and Todd Turner (Julie Boatright), all of Louisville, Kentucky, Jay and Ty Turner of Texas; eight great- grandchildren, Evan Shields, Benjamin Price, Garrett Shields, Jonathon Price, Sarah Price, and Aaron Price; niece, Loucinda Buford and nephews, Jimmie Buell Buford, Donald Ray Buford, Robert Buford, and Sam Turner. He requested his body be donated to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. A memorial service will be held at the Community Church in Wing, Yell County, at 2 pm, Saturday, June 30. Turner, James Atkinson

James Atkinson Turner, age 63, died August 1, 2000 in Agana, Guam. He was born January 17, 1937 in Wing, AR, the son of J. R. Turner and Mabel Lea Atkinson Turner. He attended Abilene Christian University at Abilene, TX was a Church of Christ minister, a public vocational school teacher and for the last 25 years was an entertainer for tourist and travel agencies in Guam. He was an accomplished musician, singer and comedian. His predominately Japanese audiences especially appreciated his particular brand of humor, and he was fluent in the Japanese language. His mother preceded him in death.

Survivors are, two sons, Jay Paul and Ty Mark Turner of Texas; his father, J. R. Turner of Wing, AR; one brother, John E. Turner of Louisville, KY.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, September 2, 2000 at the Wing Community Church in Wing, AR. Burial will be in Turner Memorial Cemetery at Wing. Turner, Juanita L.

Juanita L. Turner, 93 of Barling, AR formerly of the Wing Community, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 in Barling. She was a Methodist and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband Fay Turner.

She is survived by her son Don Turner and his wife Sarah of Barling; two grandchildren L. G. Buddy Turner and his wife Rhonda of Van Buren, and Sharon Core and her husband Kendal of Sperry, OK; four great grandchildren; Casey Turner, Dustin Turner, Kansas Core and Kaley Core; two great-great grandchildren Corbin Turner and Alex Turner. Turner, Larue

LaRue Turner, age 72 of Rover died Tuesday, April 6, 2005 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center in Dardanelle. She was born February 21, 1933 in Rover to the late Tom and Sybil Humphreys Pugh. She was a homemaker and mother, a farmer and a member of the Rover Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard D. Turner and grandson-in-law, Steven R. McConnell.

Survivors are children and spouses, Johnny and Brenda Turner of Rover, Nancy and David Butler of Mabelvale; a sister, Deceine Elder of Little Rock; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Turner, Lawrence O.

Lawrence O. Turner, age 91 of Havana died Monday, June 23, 2008 at Mitchell Nursing Home. Born January 21, 1917 in Havana, he was the son of the late Melzer "Shorty" and Effie Apple Turner. He was the assistant area foreman and a heavy equipment operator for the Arkansas Highway Department for 28 years. He was a past member of the Havana City Council and Havana School; Board and a 32 degree Mason. He was a member of the Havana Presbyterian Church and an avid crappie fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ada Foster Turner.

Survivors include a son, Larry Turner and wife, Marianka of Cabot; a sister, Florine Thompson of Ft. Smith; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be today, June 25 at 2:00 p. m. at the Havana Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at the Havana Cemetery. Leona "Lee" Estelle Turner, age 69, of Fayetteville, AR died Sunday, April 29, 2001 at Washington Regional Medical Center. She was born November 29, 1931 at Portales, NM, the daughter of Martin Luther and Velma Mae Daugherty Turner. She was a retired civil service secretary and a Baptist. She was a member of Republican Women.

Louellen Jane Turner, age 78, of Danville passed away April 15, 2016, at her home. She was born January 17, 1938, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the late Luther Samual & Mary Mink Fryman. She loved bingo, fishing, spending time with her family, especially her grandbabies and her ice coffee.

Vurline Charles Turner, age 72, of Bluffton, AR died Friday morning, October 11, 2002 at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. He was born July 1, 1930, at Bay, AR, the son of Charles Raymond Turner and Effie Rouse) Turner. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and of the Pentecostal Faith. He was a member of the Redman Lodge and the Eagle Lodge and was an avid musician, who loved Blue Grass Gospel. He loved the outdoors.

Marlin Wesley Tuttle, age 72, of DeSoto, KS, died Tuesday, February 4, 1997 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS. He was born January 30, 1925 in Mountain View, AR to Charles Martin and Ollie Adeline Russ Tuttle. He was a retired truck driver of 26 years and attended the First Southern Baptist Church in Lenexa, KS. He was a member of Teamsters Local 41, Kansas City, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jerry Tuttle.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda M. Deeds Tuttle of the home; a son, Jackie Tuttle of DeSoto, KS; seven daughters, Elaua Tuttle of DeSoto, KS, Debra Wilburn, DeSoto, KS, Melda Tuttle, DeSoto, KS, Vickey Tuttle, Eudora, KS, Cynthia Born, Eudora, KS, Marilyn Tuttle, DeSoto, KS, Paula Jones, Ottawa, KS; a sister, Ellen Leonard, Kansas City, MO and seven grandchildren. Nelda Lee Tuttle, age 38, of DeSoto, Kansas died Thursday, July 2, 1998 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, KS. She was born November 4, 1959 in Kansas City, MO, and graduated from DeSoto High School. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Lenexa, KS.

She was preceded in death by her father, Marlin Tuttle; a brother, Jerry Tuttle and a sister, Linda Carol Tuttle.

Benjamin Robert Tygart, age 82 of Belleville died December 12 in the Yell County Hospital. He was a native of Garland County, near Hot Springs, a retired farmer and a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife Stella; five sons, Press of the home, Josh of Danville, John Ray and Benjamin Robert Jr. of Havana and Aldrich of Pine Bluff; two daughters, Mrs. Mary T. Buckman of Wichita, Kans. and Mrs. Ruby Gardiner of Denver, Colo.; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Tygart, Bill

Bill Tygart, age 95, of Danville, died Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Mitchell Nursing Home in Danville. She was born July 30, 1912 in Plainview, Arkansas to the late William Henry and Sallie Barger Hunter. She and her husband Josh operated Tygart's General Store in Danville which was in business for over 40 years, beginning in 1930. She was a member of the Danville First Baptist Church and was an active member of the Wilson Sunday Class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Josh Tygart; sister, Lula Love and brother, John Hunter.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Barger and Dons Tygart of Dallas; four grandchildren and spouses and ten great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Russell Cemetery in Belleville with Reverend Jamie Staley officiating. Pallbearers were A. D. Faye Tygart, age 86, of Havana, AR died Wednesday, February 23, 2000 at her home in Havana, AR. She was born in Riley, AR June 26, 1913, daughter of the late Martin B. and Reola Quensenbury Foster. She and her husband, Ray Tygart had owned and operated Ray Tygart's Store in Havana for many years. She attended the Havana Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Zelta Sturdy and three brothers, Vestal, Hoyt and Oresta Foster.

John Ray Tygart, age 90 of Havana, AR died Monday, June 5, 2000 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Morrilton. He was born October 18, 1909 at Belleville, AR to the late Benjamin Robert and Stella Copeland Tygart. He was a retired merchant, member of the Havana Presbyterian Church, member for over 50 years of the Belleville Christian Lodge 394 and a World War II veteran.

Survivors include two sisters, Mary Buckman, Tulsa, OK and Ruby Gardner of Denver, CO and several nieces and nephews.

Tygart, Tommy

Tommy Tygart, age 71, of Cabot, lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 3, 2006. He was born September 19, 1934 in Woodson to the late Joe T. and Iva Lester Tygart. He lived most of his adult life in Little Rock and Cabot. He was a member of Baugh Chapel Baptist Church, a Veteran Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne U. S. Army during the Korean War and he owned and operated several businesses. He's DX in Little Rock, John and Andy's Cafe in Little Rock and Cabot Carpet Cleaners. He was a Little League Coach at the Jr. Deputy Baseball Complex in the early 1970's. He was a musician and songwriter and recorded songs in Nashville, TN. He wrote four songs that are copyrighted with BMI. One song went to 2 in Denmark and one song 5 on the Foreign Charts.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one niece, Dana Coney.

Survivors include his loving wife, Phyllis McClure Tygart of the home; son, Jody and Melissa Tygart; daughter Amanda and Scott Johnson; grandson, Adin Thomas Tygart and granddaughter, Hannah Avery Johnson all of Cabot; three brothers, Billy Tygart of Woodson, R. L. Tygart, Shirley and Sam Tygart of Hensley; three sisters, Aline Stone of Little Rock, Priscilla Carlton of Woodson and Macele Howard of Hensley; several nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.

Wilma L. Black Tygart, age 68 of Havana, AR, formerly of Dardanelle, AR passed away Tuesday, July 15, 1997 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was born February 12, 1929 in Dunbar, OK. She was self employed and a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Tygart of Havana; a son, James Black of Dardanelle; a daughter, Sandy Edwards of Springdale, AR; a brother, James Casinger of CA; a sister, Sue O'Bryant of Little Rock; three grandsons, James L. Black of Belle Vista, AR, and Chad and Danny Hipps both of Russellville, AR; a granddaughter, Kim McDaniels of Russellville and three great grandsons, Hayden Hipps of Russellville and Joey and Justin McDaniels both of Russellville.

Ella Rose Tyler, 2 months of age, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at St. Marys Regional Medical Center. The daughter of Chris and Michelle Graves Tyler, she was born March 10, 2009 in Russellville.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Mark Graves and great grandparents Lima Faye & Winton Piercy. Ella was her mothers sunshine in the darkest hour. Ella had big beautiful blue eyes that lit up the room. She was truly loved and will never be forgotten. Ella Rose will always grow in her mothers heart.

She is survived by her parents, Michelle Graves Tyler & Chris Tyler of Russellville; sister, Annelise Tyler of Russellville; maternal grandparents, Jana & Terry Mackie of Dover, paternal grandparents, Butch & Toni Tackett of Danville; maternal step-grandfather, J. Oval Tyler, age 88 of Hollis died Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at his home. He was born April 18, 1914 in Hollis, Arkansas to the late Allie and Savannah Jones Tyler. He was a WWII Army Veteran and retired after 41 years from AMF in California.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Tyler; three brothers, Herman Tyler, Cleo Tyler, Herschel Tyler.

Ruby Billue Tyler, age 81, of Little Rock, AR passed away Saturday, September 4, 2004. She was born January 31, 1923, in Plainview, AR, the daughter of Robert E. and Beulah (Ross) Billue. She was a 1940 graduate of Plainview-Rover High School and belonged to the Kruizin Knukes Travel Club, the Masonic Order of the Eastern Star and was of the Methodist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Therian "Bud" Tyler; a granddaughter, Alycia Gillum and a sister, Virgie Nell Brasier.

She is survived by her husband of 64-years, Therian E. Tyler; two daughters, Jan Tyler and Ron Loney of South Dakota and Jeanne Tyler Crews of Little Rock; two sisters, Ruth Reed of -Katy, TX and Gladys Lowell of Vacaville, CA; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held September 7, 2004 at Plainview United Methodist Church with Rev. Billie Jean Tate officiating. A private burial followed.
