Tyler, Theo

The Spirit and the Soul left the body of Theo Tyler Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Conway Regional Medical Center. He was born December 95 1919, in Hollis, AR. He was 88 and a member of Bigelow Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Verla Mae (Mahan) Tyler.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Kenneth Tipton of Bigelow; three grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Tyler, Therian Elbert

Therian Elbert Tyler, 87, of Little Rock, passed away March 7, 2005. He was born December 10, 1917 to Allie W. Tyler and Savannah Jones Tyler. He was a 32nd degree Mason, and for over fifty years was a member of the Scottish Rite, Kruizin Knukes Travel Club, and a veteran of WWII. He was a retired cement mason, and a member of AFL/CIO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruby, one son, Bud Tyler, four brothers, Herman, Cleo, Oval, and Herschel Tyler, and one grandchild, Alycia Gillum.

He is survived by his daughters, Jan Loney and her husband, Ron of New Effington, South Dakota, and Jeanne Crews of Little Rock; brother, Theo Tyler of Bigelow, Arkansas; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2005 at Plainview United Methodist Church and Reverend by Billie Jean Tate officiating. Burial will follow at the Salem Cemetery in Plainview, Arkansas. No visitation will be held. Tyra, Charlotte Ann (Berry)

Charlotte Ann Tyra, age 61, of Danville passed away Monday, February 13, 2012 at her home. She was born February 9, 1951 in Little Rock, AR to Charles & Jean Vocque Berry.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Underwood, Bryan

Bryan Underwood, age 65 of Havana, died Friday, January 20, 2006 at his home in Havana. He was born in Sand Springs, Oklahoma on May 1, 1940 to Bertie and Helen Winnie Graham Underwood. He served in the United States Army, and was retired from Wayne Poultry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Daniel Underwood and Johnny Ray Underwood and a sister, Betty May Underwood.

Survivors include three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Sharon Underwood of Havana, Ernest and Sandra Underwood of Dardanelle and Jerry and Floy Underwood of Dardanelle; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruby Helen and Charles Edward Traughber of Havana; fifteen nephews and nieces. Clarence Loil Underwood, age 72, of Centerville died Thursday, December 19, 1985, at a Fort Smith hospital. He was the son of the late Millard and Ozia Underwood, and a member of Centerville Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nadeen Underwood; a son, Troy Underwood of Dardanelle; a daughter, Clevia Price of Dardanelle; two brothers, Tolbert Underwood of Danville and Herbert Lee Underwood of Dardanelle; four sisters, Nora Lee Pennington of Danville, Bertha Grigsby of Baytown, Texas, Mildred Scoles of Dardanelle and Minnie Hacker of Dumas; four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Mrs. Elizabeth Underwood, 88, died in the hospital at Danville on February 6. She was a native of Plainview.

Survivors include two sons, L. I. of Hot Springs and R. O. of Carlisle; three daughters, Mrs. Eugene Carr, Mrs. Linnie Brooks and Mrs. Iva Loewe, all of Hot Springs; a brother, J. L. Dr. Eric Ott Underwood, age 70, of Waveland died Monday in a hospital in Ft. Smith. Dr. Underwood had been a medical doctor at Waveland for the last 49 years. He was a graduate of the University Medical School in Little Rock, a member of the Arkansas Medical Society and a member of the Church of Christ.

Underwood, Flora Bell (Olive)

Flora Bell Underwood age 92 of Danville died Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Stella Manor Nursing and Rehab. She was born December 6, 1921 at Jasper, Alabama to the late Jimmie and Hazel Davis Olive. She was a lifelong resident of the Omega Community and a member of the Mt. George Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lonnie Underwood; brother and sister; two daughters-in-law, Louise Underwood and Kay Underwood.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Underwood of North Little Rock, Freddie Lee Underwood of Dardanelle, Bobby Lynn Underwood of Danville; one brother, Wilfred Olive of Sea Breeze, Alabama; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and her only granddaughter and her caregiver, Cindy Roper.

Florence Louise Delp Underwood age 64 of Dardanelle died Thursday, May 10, 2012 at River Valley Medical Center. She was born October 29, 1947 at Shreveport, LA to Johnny Carl and Alice Louise McCabe Delp. She was a 1965 graduate of Dardanelle High School, received her BSE in 1969 from ATU, her MSE in 1988 from ATU, and her Education Leadership Certificate in 2000 from UCA. She was an interventionist at the Dardanelle Schools. She was a school teacher for 42 years and was at Dardanelle for 41 years. She was a member of the AEA, NEA, local Vice President of Kappa Kappa Iota, the oldest National Teachers Sorority in the US, and President of the Dardanelle AEA, Chairman of SIT.

She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Charlie Lott and great grandmother, Gammie.

Survivors include her beloved husband and best friend of 44 years, Freddie Underwood of Dardanelle; son and daughter- in-law, Jonathan and Amelia Underwood of London; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy Underwood Roper and Keith Mize of Dardanelle; parents, Johnny and Alice Delp of Dardanelle; sisters, Peggy Lott, Nora Hunt and husband Tommy Sr. all of Dardanelle, Johnette Moody and husband Ed of Russellville; three beloved grandsons, Jesse Roper, Dalton Mize, Dawson Mize and a host of family and friends.

He was born April 29, 1930 at the Cove Creek Community in Logan County to the late Arthur "Doc" and Susie Campbell Underwood. He loved logging, being in the timber, hunting, fishing and messing with his cattle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leon Underwood, Truman Underwood; one sister, Hilda Haney.

Ina Mae Underwood, age 80; A graveside service will be held in Patterson for longtime resident Ina Mae Johnston Underwood. She died Monday [June 23, 2003] at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock. Born in Rover, Ark., Mrs. Underwood lived in Patterson for 60 years. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her brother, Robert Johnston of Manchester, Ohio; and sisters Mildred Janski Little Rock, Ark., and Melva Martin, also of Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Underwood.

Leon Underwood, age 69, of Dardanelle, departed this life on Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at Dardanelle Nursing Center. He was born June 7, 1938 at Scranton, to the late Arthur and Suzie Melinda Campbell Underwood. He was a member for the First Baptist Church in Delaware. He was retired from Robinson Inc; in earlier years working in timber is what he enjoyed. He was a retired member of the National Guard and Ready Reserves of the U. S. Army.

Linda Lea Carpenter, age 63, of Russellville died Saturday, January 18, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. She was born February 11, 1950 to the late John Eugene Carpenter and Mary Lee Nolen Carpenter Green. She was of the Assembly of God Faith and loved reading and spending time with her family.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, John Eugene Carpenter; grandparents, Doyle and Virda Nolen, Elmer Robinson and Amy Robinson Davis; stepfather Clyde Green.

Survivors include her mother, Mary Lee Carpenter Green; one daughter, Tosha Underwood and fianc James Pearson of Russellville; one son, Chris Underwood and wife Candice of Russellville; two brothers, Charles Carpenter and Robin Carpenter and wife Cindy both of Havana; one sister, Polly Goodwin and Husband Glen of Havana; three grandchildren, Mariah Jeffcoat, Dillan Jeffcoat and Rilee Grace Underwood all of Russellville; special cousin, Larry Truett and wife Marijo of Washington State.

Opal Roscoe Underwood, 69, of Patterson, Calif., a San Joaquin Valley farmer for 30 years, died Jan. 5th at Del Puerto Hospital of an apparent hear attack. Mr. Underwood was a native of Yell County and a member of New Bethal Baptist Church near Plainview, Arkansas. Suriviors include his wife, Ina Mae Underwood of Patterson, a large number of nieces and nephews, and two great-great nephews of Fremont, Calif.

Pauline Underwood, age 84, of Dardanelle died Monday, February 23, 2015. She was born May 12, 1930 at Dover to the late Oscar and Cordelia Standridge Miller. She was a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ and was retired as a cook for the Dardanelle School District. Pauline loved her children and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert Lee Underwood; brothers, Herbert Miller, Billy Don Miller; sisters, Bernice Ketcherside, Alma Burris Morris, Wilma Dean Hurst.

Survivors include her children, Larry Underwood and wife Nancy of Dardanelle, Tommy Underwood of Dardanelle; three sisters, her twin sister, Allene Shockley of Mt. George, Juanita Hendricks of Dover, Reba Hunter of Oklahoma; one brother, Jim Miller of Pottsville; one granddaughter, Crystal Clay and husband Randy of Little Rock and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the Dardanelle Church of Christ with Bro. Ralph Weinhold and Bro. Mark Auten officiating. Roy Lee Underwood, age 81, died September 23, 2017, at Chambers Memorial Hospital. He was born August 5, 1936, to Tolbert and Dolly Shockley Underwood at Mt. George. He was retired from Wayne Farms in Danville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Vela, and sister Georgeann Gist.

Sharon Kay Underwood age 63 of Dardanelle died Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. She was born February 13, 1951 in Russellville to the late John Lewis and Mildred Blankenship West. She was a 1969 graduate of Ola High School and a Graduate of Arkansas Tech University with a BA in elementary education and a masters in education. She attended the Mt. George Church of Christ, was a member of the Mt. George E.H. Club and after 17 years of working for Tyson Foods she retired to become a poultry farmer. Kay loved the Razorbacks, her dogs and collecting chickens.

Survivors include her husband Bobby Lynn Underwood of Dardanelle; two sons, Jerry West (Jaclyn) of Texarkana and Chris Price of Dardanelle; brothers, John West JR (Janey) of Russellville, James West (Phyllis) of Ola, Loyd Daniel West of Casa; sister, Sandra Kinslow (Richard) of Mississippi; grandchildren, Katie and Olivia Landrum of Texarkana; mother-in-law, Flora Bell Underwood Dardanelle; special friends Tommie Lou Ballinger Liska and Brandie Grace and many other relatives and friends.

Vela Marie Massey Underwood, age 72, of Danville, AR died Friday, December 21, 2007 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, AR. She was born October 23, 1935 in Danville, AR the daughter of the late Otis and Reetha Moss Massey. She was a member of the Danville Assembly of God Church and a pharmaceutical technician for 22 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Bobbye Holley and Carolyn Carr.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Roy Underwood; two daughters and husbands, Beverly and Jackie Bratton of Danbury, TX and Cindy and Garry Shingleur of Russellville, AR; four grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Massey of Morrilton, AR and Charles Massey of Hampton, AR; a sister, Gerri Smith of Springfield, MO; numerous nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

Service was December 24, 2007 at the Assembly of God Church in Danville with Rev. Ronnie Reddin officiating. Interment was in the Earl Ladd Cemetery. Verlon Louella Underwood, 98, a resident of Morrilton, formerly of Ola, died Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at Conway Regional Medical Center. She was born January 11, 1918, at Ola to Ozie Lee and Claudia Elizabeth Cossey Underwood. She was a retired nurse's aide and was a member of the First Baptist Church at Ola.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leroy Underwood and his infant twin; and a sister, Oler Johnston.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Sherman "Sonny" Durham of Morrilton; two granddaughters and their husbands, Dana and John Ellison of Knoxville, Tennessee and Delores and Greg Fairchild of Maumelle; five great-grand- children and their spouses, Jon Curtis and Jennifer Ellison of Nashville, Tennessee, Ashley Renee and Joshua Stokes of Claremorc, Oklahoma, Emily and Robert Sheridan of Lenoir City, Tennessee, Jonathan and Kalyn Ellison of Eufaula, Oklahoma and Joseph Ellison of Nashville, Tennessee; nine great-great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Logan, Evan and Gavin Stokes, Braden Lewellyn, Everett and Asher Sheridan and Taylor and Dalton Ellison; and other relatives and friends.
