Sugg, William Sidney

William Sidney Sugg, aged 90, died at the Yell County Hospital Wednesday, April 28. He was a member of the Belleville Baptist Church.

He is survived by one son, Barney A. Sugg of Helena; two daughters, Mrs. Bernice Taylor of Ft. Smith and Mrs. Letha Maxwell of Nashville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Suggs, C. E. Former Belleville Mayor

C. E. Suggs, age 87 of Belleville, a former Belleville Mayor and former Belleville alderman, died last Tuesday, August 15, 2006 in Danville. He was a retired row crop farmer and rancher. Besides serving as Mayor of Belleville for several years, he also served several terms as Belleville Alderman. The C. E. Suggs family held an unusual honor as they were named County Farm Family in two counties. In 1967, his family was named Pulaski County Farm Family of the Year, and they were awarded that same honor in 1981 as Yell County Farm Family.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 18, at the First C. E. Suggs Baptist Church of Havana.

Suggs, Charlotte Olga

Charlotte Olga Suggs, age 60 of Midlothian, TX went to be with the Lord on July 18, 2003.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lawson Suggs and a grandson, Heath Glen Kersey.

Her memory will be cherished by her mother, Alia Mae Davis of Jacksonville, FL; her three daughters, Carol Ann and Myron O. Hanson, Jr. of Midlothian, TX, Charlene and Rick Fowler of Canton, TX and Cheryl Mae and Bill McGhee of Little Rock, AR; six grandchildren; three brothers; an aunt and nieces.

Suggs, Clevon Eugene "C. E. "

Clevon Eugene "C. E. " Suggs, age 87 of Belleville, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at Chambers Memorial Hospital. A son of the late John Andrew and Ethel Adney Suggs, he was born November 28, 1918, Rose Creek, Arkansas. He was a retired row crop farmer and rancher. He was a member of the Belleville United Methodist Church, where he served over 26 years as Sunday School teacher and Sunday School Director. He was a perpetual life member of the Belleville Masonic Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons. He actively served his community by serving on the Belleville City Council and held the office of mayor. The C. E. Suggs family was named the 1967 Pulaski County Farm Family of the Year, and also was awarded that same honor in 1981 for Yell County.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hermoyne Virginia McClesky Suggs; a son, Harold Suggs; his parents; and a brother, Lamoine Suggs.

Survivors include two sons, Randy Suggs of Little Rock and Jim Suggs of Belleville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki (Suggs) and David Brantley of Alanson, Michigan, and Phyllis (Suggs) and Bill Dickey of Belleville; one sister, Lona Whitfield of Benton; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 18, at the First Baptist Church of Havana. Burial was at Russell Cemetery in Belleville by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville. Suggs, James E. "Jim"

James E. "Jim" Suggs age 55 of Belleville, Arkansas departed this life on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville, surrounded by his family. Jim was born August 18, 1956 in Little Rock to the late Clevon Eugene and Hermoyne Virginia McCleskey Suggs. He was a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harold Suggs, and sister, Vicki Suggs Brantley.

Survivors include his daughters, Amy (Allen) Lackey of Dover; Andrea (Michael) James of Russellville; sister, Phyllis (Bill) Dickey of Belleville; brother, Randy Suggs of Little Rock; brother-in-law, David Brantley, grandchildren, Erica and Garrett Lackey, Abby and Austin James, special nephew and nieces, Randy Suggs, Jr., Angie Suggs, Alana Klober, Allie Turner, Audrey Dickey, special cousins, Pam George and Nell Spears; and the mother of his children, Marie Havner, and a host of family and friends.

Services were Monday in Belleville at the Dr. John Grace Memorial Baptist Church with Brother Mark Gower and Brother Jeff Smith officiating. Burial will be in Russell Cemetery, Belleville. Mrs. Lou E. Suggs died in a Fort Smith hospital on July 5, 1956. She had lived her entire life in Arkansas and had lived in Fort Smith for the last two years.

Sullivan, Anna Amanda

Anna Amanda Sullivan, age 93, of Briggsville, Yell County, Arkansas, died Wednesday, October 27, 1999 at the Yell County Nursing Home in Ola, AR. She was born September 23, 1906 in Briggsville, AR to the late John and Thursday Ann Gladden Castleberry. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the United Methodist Church in Briggsville and Briggsville EH Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy H. Sullivan; five brothers, Bert, Timothy, John, Beecher and Wallace Castleberry and three sisters, Edith Ladd, Eva Montgomery and Minnie Williamson.

She is survived by three sons, Tom W. Sullivan of Russellville, Charles R. Sullivan of El Dorado and Ronald Paul Sullivan of Briggsville, AR; three daughters, Anna J. Fryar of Briggsville, AR, Betty Carole Ward of Modesto, CA and Mary J. Sharp of Kansas City, MO; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Grady and Roxy Sullivan of Briggsville and Pauline Sullivan Dishongh of Danville, AR; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Service was October 30, 1999 at the Briggsville Methodist Church with Rev. Royce Savage and Bro. Hulon Wiser officiating. Interment was in Mt. Betty Janice Sullivan, age 77 of Ola, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010 at her home. She was born April 30, 1933 in Birta, AR to the late Thomas and Ruby George Via.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Levi Sullivan; son, Terry Sullivan; brothers. Bud, Donald, Norbin, and Bobby Via; sisters, Theda Via and Alene Eubanks.

Survivors include sisters, Velma Eldridge of Sheridan, Kathleen Freeman of Ola, Patsy Van Vleet of Dardanelle, Sue Hance of Casa; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Sullivan, Carlon J.

Carlon J. Sullivan, age 96, of Ola, AR died Thursday, September 7, 2006 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. A son of the late Thomas J. and Pearl Payton Sullivan, he was born August 14, 1910 at Birta, Arkansas. He was a retired carpenter, a member of the Casa Masonic Lodge 537 and a member of the Ola Assembly of God Church.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Hetta Sullivan; four brothers Woodrow, Freeman, Levi and Vadus Sullivan; and two sisters Bessie Smith and Retha Sullivan.

Survivors include two brothers Thomas Sullivan of Ola; and Marshall Sullivan of Jacksonville, AR; a sister, Cynthia Parker of Chicago, IL and a number of nephews and nieces.

Graveside service was conducted by Shinn Funeral Service September 9 at the Birta Cemetery at Birta, officiated by Rev. Jerry Schlinker. Mrs. Florence L. Sullivan, age 86, of Paris, sister of Duell Kirby of Russellville, died Wednesday, April 17, 1985.

Sullivan, Grady H.

Grady H. Sullivan, age 93, of Briggsville, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2009 at his home. A son of the late John Wesley and Jewel Ida Montgomery Sullivan, he was born June 26, 1916 in Briggsville. He left his beloved town of Briggsville after high school to work in the state of Washington. While working in Washington, he met and married his only true love Roxey German, with a 2009 wedding anniversary of seventy-one years. After Grady and Roxey's wedding they moved to Modesto, California. He was employed in the grocery industry including Safeway as a manager before being drafted by the United States Navy, serving as a Seabee in the Pacific. Grady's life changed after World War II, and he was selected to be a part of the Federal Fire Department Staff in Stockton, California. He retired from the fire department after logging in thirty-eight years and returned to his place of birth, Briggsville, with his wife at his side. As a professional fireman, Grady felt the need for the community of Briggsville to have fire protection, so he organized the community and established the Briggsville Volunteer Fire Department. He took charge of getting persons from the community to man the new firehouse, and as Chief took command to see that all were trained. He was active in the Methodist Church, the Mt. Zion Cemetery, and worked diligently to improve the roads, highways and the rural telephone service in the Briggsville area.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters Bernice Sullivan, Maxine Bailey, John Earl Sullivan, Tom Sullivan, Pauline Dishough and Marvin Sullivan.

Survivors include his wife, Roxey Sullivan; his son, Jerry Sullivan of Atwater, California; his daughter, Linda Orick of Modesto, California; four grandchildren Shad Sullivan, Brian Hendrickson, Dana Hendrickson and Marty Machado; two great-grandchildren Alexis Sullivan and Samantha Sullivan; and a special niece, Violet Threet.

The funeral service was October 9, 2009 at the Briggsville United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. David Scroggin. Burial was in Mt. Sullivan, Hannah Joy

Hannah Joy Sullivan, age 17, entered Heaven on Feb. 26, 2009, after a year-long battle with brain cancer. She was born on Oct. 22, 1991, in Fort Smith to Brad and Jill Sullivan. She attended Magnet Cove High School, where she was junior class president and an honor student. She was a member of Hot Springs Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the youth group. She battled her cancer with grace and strength, never complaining, and accepted her storm as an opportunity to be a witness for Christ. We know that now, in Heaven, she is more alive than ever before. Her family would like to thank the staff of the Arkansas Childrens Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic and the staff of St. Josephs Mercy Clinic on Airport Road in Hot Springs for the wonderful care they provided to Hannah over the past year.

Hannah is survived by her sister, Bethany; her parents, Brad and Jill Sullivan; her grandparents, Charles and Nina Sullivan of Van Buren, and Tom and Betty Persenaire of Mountain Home; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She loved spending time with her family, especially her cousins, Adam and Addi, Emily and Allison, Hayley and Caitlin, Julia and Faith.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Hot Springs Baptist Church; and a celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at First Baptist Church of Hot Springs. There will be a private family burial on Monday at Mount Zion Cemetery in Briggsville. Pallbearers will be Hannahs uncles and honorary pallbearers will be the junior class of Magnet Cove High School. Mrs. Leola Alice Richardson Sullivan, age 76, of Briggsville, AR died Wednesday, July 3, 1996 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. She was born in Slatonville, Sebastian County, Arkansas October 14, 1919. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Alice Walker Richardson. She was a retired receptionist for the late Dr. L. A. Draeger of Danville, member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, mother, homemaker and member of the Briggsville United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Floyd Sullivan.

Survivors include a son, Terry Sullivan of Briggsville; a daughter, Jill Baugh of Dardanelle; two sisters, Clarice Smith of No. Little Rock and Lorene Kelly of Dallas, TX and three grandchildren, Clay Sullivan and Brett and Brandon Baugh.

Funeral service was July 6 at the Briggsville Methodist Church with Rev. Hulon Wiser and Rev. Royce Savage officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Briggsville. Sullivan, Marvin Floyd

Marvin Floyd Sullivan, age 72 of Briggsville, AR died Friday, February 14, 1992 at the Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was a native of Briggsville, son of the late John W. and Jewell Montgomery Sullivan. He was a former member of the First Popularly Elected Yell County Quorum Court, a retired Yell County Road Foreman, and was a Cattleman. He was a past member of the Yell County Hospital Board of Directors, and was a Charter Member of the Briggsville Methodist Church. He was a Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge 123 at Bluffton, a Veteran of World War II and a member of the Yell County Democratic Central Committee.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Sullivan Bailey and two brothers, Tom Sullivan and John Earl Sullivan.

Survivors include his wife, Leola Richardson Sullivan; a son, Terry Sullivan of Briggsville; one daughter, Jill S. Baugh of Dardanelle; one brother, Grady Sullivan of Briggsville; one sister, Mrs. Pauline Dishongh of Danville; four grandsons, Derrick Sullivan, Clay Sullivan, Brett Baugh, Brandon Baugh and one granddaughter, Amanda Skelton.

Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 17th at the Briggsville Methodist Church with Rev. Hulon Wiser and Dr. L. Compton George officiating. Burial was in Mt. Ronald Paul Sullivan, age 73, of Briggsville passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Cornerstone Health Care-Little Rock. He was born October 5, 1944, in Briggsville to the late Tom H. & Anna Amanda Castleberry Sullivan. He was a National Guard Veteran and a retired supervisor at Firestone.

Funeral services were held at 10 am Saturday, March 18, 2017, at the Briggsville United Methodist Church with Rev. Susan Fisher and Rev. Dan Oslin officiating. Visitation was from 6 to 8 pm Friday at the funeral home. Burial was at Mt Zion Cemetery. Sullivan, Roxey (German)

At the age of 96, Roxey was called away from her loved ones here on earth the morning of April 3, 2015, to be with her Lord. Roxey was born in Glenwood Springs, CO on August 15, 1918 to Arthur and Nellie German. She lived and raised her family in Modesto, CA from 1939 to 1973. She moved and lived in Briggsville, AR with her beloved husband Grady from 1973 to 2010. She returned back to Modesto after Grady's passing in 2010. She and Grady had a wonderful and devoted marriage for 71 years. Roxey was a polite lady and always helped and thought of others before herself. She possessed a light hearted wit and a special smile that was infectious. Roxey was a member of Briggsville Methodist Church where she was a pianist for 30 years, along with being a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Independent Order of Foresters. She was also the secretary for Briggsville Fire Department for 28 years.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Grady Sullivan, Father, Arthur German, Mother, Nellie Mae German, Brother, Art German and Sister, Catherine Stewart.

Survivors include a son, Jerry L. Sullivan of Atwater, California; a daughter, Linda J. Petersen of Modesto; four grandchildren, Brian T. Hendrickson of Briggsville, Ark, Shad E. Sullivan and Marty Machado both of Atwater, and Dana L. Carroll of Merced, CA and Great grand daughters Alexis and Samantha Sullivan of Atwater, CA.

The graveside service and burial was held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015, at Mt. Zion Cemetery at Briggsville, officiated by the Rev. Sunny Sullivan, age 56, of Russellville, AR, died Monday, February 15, 2010 at her home. The daughter of Marvin and Mary Lee King Sellers, she was born September 5, 1953 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was a legal secretary with Laws and Murdoch and she enjoyed genealogy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dusty McDaniel and a brother, Mark Sellers.

She is survived by 2 sons, Derrick Sullivan & wife Tina, US Army, Fort Bragg, NC, Clay Sullivan, US Navy, Sicily; a daughter, Amy Nelson, Mt. Home; 5 grandchildren, Chasity and Raven Sullivan, Allyson, Jacob and Megan Nelson; 2 brothers, Marty Sellers and wife Sue, Russellville, Marshall Sellers, Fayetteville; 3 sisters, Mary Beth Sage and husband Joel, Dover, Marisa Sellers, London, Marcee Shaw and husband Darrin, Russellville and Ann Holbrook Demere, Russellville.

Sullivan, Terry L.

Terry L. Sullivan, age 47, of Ola died Tuesday at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born January 9, 1957 in Gary, Indiana to the late Levi Sullivan. He was a sawmill worker.

Survivors are his mother, Betty Via Sullivan of Ola, special friend, Carolyn Andrews of Texas arid a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Services were held June 3, 2004 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Ola with Rev. Bobby Wells officiating. Interment was held in Birta Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville. Sullivan, Thomas

Thomas Sullivan, 85, of Russellville, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. He was born September 30, 1930, in Rover to Tom H. and Anna A. Castleberry Sullivan. He was a graduate of Fourche Valley School and a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, on the board of the Wesley Foundation and the Mount Eagle Retreat Center. Mr. Sullivan graduated from Tech in 1949 and then went on to complete his bachelor's degree at Oklahoma A & M College (now OSU) in 1951. He then went on to receive a master's of science degree in animal nutrition at UA. He earned his Ph. D. in Nutrition and Bio-chemistry at the University of Wisconsin in 1958. Dr. Sullivan served as professor of poultry science at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln (UNL) in 1958 to 1993. After retirement he taught poultry science courses at Tech as an adjutant professor. In 1997 he was inducted into the Hall of Distinction at Arkansas Tech. He was also the past secretary of the Democratic Party and Briggsville Fire Department Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Anna J. Sullivan Fryar; and a grandson, Nickalus Cathey.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Maggie Cathey Sullivan; two step-sons and daughters-in-law, Nickey and Pat Cathey of Dardanelle and David Alan and Angie Cathey of Lincoln, Nebraska; a step-daughter, Johnnie Cathey of Little Rock; a foster son and his wife, Ron and Barb Born; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Charles and Nina Sullivan of Van Buren and Paul Sullivan of Briggsville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Fred Ward of Modesto, California and Mary Jean and Harvey Sharp of Kansas City, Kansas; eight step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2016. Visitation was from 9:30 a.m., until service time at the church. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 300 N. Tommy H. Sullivan, 81, of Briggsville died Monday, June 4, 1984 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Little Rock. He was a native of Rover, the son of the late John W. and Ida Jewell Montgomery Sullivan. He was a retired school teacher, having taught school for more than 44 years, and was a member of the Briggsville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Anna Castleberry Sullivan of the home; three sons, Dr. Thomas Sullivan of Lincoln, Neb. Charles Sullivan of EI Dorado, and Ronald Paul Sullivan of Briggsville; three daughters, Mrs. Anna J. Fryar of the home, Mrs. Betty Ward of Modesto Calif. and Mrs. Mary Tharp of Parkville, Mo. three brothers, John Sullivan of Alma, Marvin Sullivan and Grady Sullivan, both of Briggsville, a sister, Mrs. Pauline Dishongh of Danville and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p. m. Thursday at the Briggsville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Hulon Wiser and the Rev. Claude Miles. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery at Briggsville. Sullivant, Billy Gene

Billy Gene Sullivant, 54, of Mablevale, died June 26, 2011 at UAMS in Little Rock surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born May 3, 1957 in Danville, AR to Billy and Thelma Corbin Sullivant. Billy graduated from Mills High School in 1977 where he excelled in art and athletics. He loved to draw and will be remembered by his many friends for his specially made Halloween cards he sent out each year and for those brilliant blue eyes of his.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Arley and Lucille Corbin of Danville, paternal grandparents, Horace and Anna Jo Sullivant of Little Rock, and Chester Ray also of Danville.

Survivors include his wife, Kandace Mathews; two step- sons, Steven Carter, Jr. and Michael Carter of New York; his parents, Billy and Thelma Sullivant, brother, Jimmy Sullivant, two sisters, Kelly Sullivant Owens and Phyllis Sullivant, all of Little Rock and other extended family members. Sullivant, Julia Phredonia

Mrs. Julia Phredonia Sullivant, age 81, was born June 19, 1867, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Sullivant of Corinth and died in the Danville Clinic May 12. She lived in Belleville most of her life. Burial was May 14 in the Belleville Cemetery.

Miss Sullivant is survived by one brother, Marue, of Stillwater, OK and 26 nephews and nieces. Rev. Thomas Whiddon of Danville and Rev. Wilson of Belleville held the services.
