Sullivant, Thelma (Corbin)

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Thelma Corbin Sullivant fought her last battle on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. The chains are gone and Thelma has been set free with her loving family at her bedside; she was 72 years old. She was born to the late Arley Corbin and Lucille Payne Corbin on November 10, 1939, on Huckleberry Mountain. She later moved with her family to Danville where she attended school, met and married Billy Sullivant.

Their surviving children include Kelly Jo Sullivant Owens (Tom), Phyllis Ann Sullivant Sage and Jimmy Sullivant; two grandsons, Alexander Moomey and Daniel Moomey; one granddaughter, Becky Jo Sage and Nick Singleton; and two great-granddaughters, Emma Grace Singleton and Molly Wallace, all of the Little Rock area. Lastly, Thelma lost part of her own heart upon the death of her oldest son, Billy Gene Sullivant, who died in July 2011. Thelma had a long and proud career working at UAMS. Upon her retirement she was the patient/billing services specialist where she made many friends and was a respected employee.

Thelma was preceded in death by brothers, John Corbin of Charleston and A.L. Corbin and sister-in-law, Maxine Foster Corbin of Fort Smith. In addition to her children. Thelma is survived by her husband of 54 years, Billy Sullivant; her brothers, Don Corbin (Joyce) of Dardanelle, Jim Corbin of Russellville and Bob Corbin (Claudia) of Danville; sisters, Billie Corbin White and Jo Corbin Spears, both of Grenada, Miss., and Mary Ann Corbin Moudy (Phil) of Danville; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Sullivant, Thomas Craig

Thomas Craig Sullivant, died Wednesday, June 28, 2017. He was born on November 24, 1948, to the late Horace Craig and Annajo Sullivant in Belleville Arkansas. Craig's early years were spent in Danville and later, he moved to Little Rock. After an adventurous and unconventional early life, at the age of 40, Craig had (in his words) an epiphany. This led him first to Alcoholics Anonymous, then back to college where he earned a masters in social work, specializing in addiction. Craig used his own experiences, his own battles with substance abuse, and his education, as a means of helping others. Craig's struggles made him a very humble and grateful man. In later years his son, Robert, became his main focus and joy. He often said that being a father was a gift he never thought he would have. Craig died of kidney cancer at the age of 68 and will always be missed.

Craig leaves behind his son, Robert Craig Sullivant, his friend and former spouse, Rita Marie Sullivant, his stepson, Forrest Glenn King, his brother, Billy Sullivant, all of Little Rock, his sister, Rena Gayle Jewell (Lionel) of Hot Springs and his sister, Marty Melton (Darryl) of Selmer, TN, as well as many other loved nieces, nephews and cousins. A simple service of remembrance will be held Saturday, July 8th at 11 AM in the pavilion of the Earl Ladd Cemetery in Danville, Arkansas. Internment of his urn will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous, Arkansas Hospice or the UAMS Palliative Care Program, for all of which he was very grateful.
