Mrs. Vada Hickey Smith, age 85, of Dardanelle died Wednesday, August 19, 1992 at the Dardanelle Hospital. She was a native of Yell County, daughter of the late Joe and Rose Gaydon Harkey, a homemaker and mother and a member of the Slaty Crossing Free Will Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by one son, William Lee Hickey.
Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law, Reba and Les Thone of Dardanelle, one brother, Joe Harkey of Highland, CA, five grandson, Don and Rick Thone of Russellville, Mark Thone of Dardanelle, William Lee Hickey, Jr. of Fort Worth, TX, Kim Hickey of Dardanelle. Nine great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
Services were August 21 at the Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with the Rev. Bob Parsley officiating. Interment was in the New Hope Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service. Mrs. Vennie Loraine Smith, aged 46, of Belleville Rt. 1, died at the Yell County Hospital, Tuesday June 28. She was a lifelong resident of Yell County and a member of the Baptist Church.

Mrs. Virgie Smith, aged 63, of Havana died at a Fort Smith hospital Sunday. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors are four sons, Kenneth Leon of Mena, Roger Glenn of Ft. Casa Man Run Over By Train - W.F. "Dub" Smith Jr., 39, of Casa was killed at about 2:44 a.m. Sunday when he was run over by a Rock Island train near Birta. The engineer of the train, L. L. Fowler, said that he saw Smith lying across the tracks when he rounded a curve, but was unable to stop. Sheriff Herman McCormick said that he and State Trooper Richard Powell were investigating the death, but had no definite information yet as to how Smith came to be lying on the tracks.

Wayne Lyndell Smith, age 73 of Dardanelle, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at Arkansas Heart Hospital. Born February 22, 1930, in Warren, he was the son of the late Charles and Jewel Oliver Smith. He was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, a Navy recruiter, former manager of Landshire Foods, a 32nd degree Mason of Bright Star Lodge 213, and a member of Boyce-Woods VFW Post 3141 Dardanelle, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Mane Smith and a brother, Charles Smith.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Roxie and Don Garner of Dardanelle; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Tina Smith of Dover, and Kenny and Peggy Bond of Russellville; three sisters, Iris Evans and Charlotte Garrett of Pine Bluff and Pat Fowler Bell Flower of California; a brother, Jimmy Smith of Sheridan; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Wilburn V. Smith, 88, of Conway, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, February 8, 2011. He was born September 24, 1922 in Perry, to the late Verne Smith and Omie Raney Smith. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Men's Fellowship Bible Class and a Mason. He was a machinist working in Detroit at the Chrysler Tank Plant before entering the Navy during W.W. II, graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College and received his masters from the University of Arkansas. He taught math for the Conway Public School District, was principal at Conway Junior High, was business manager for Hendrix and was co-owner of Bumpers and Smith Clothing Store.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellen Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Virginia Harger Smith of Conway; sisters, Grace MacLean of Conway and Betty Anne Campbell of N. Little Rock; brother Jimmie F. Smith of Conway.
Funeral services were Saturday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Dale Wicker officiating. Entombment was in Crestlawn Memorial Park. William Cecil (W. C.) Smith, age 20, of Dardanelle was killed in an automobile accident November 19 at Cabot. He was a welder.

William Mathis Smith born September 24, 1864, near Havana, Arkansas and departed this life January 26, 1949 at Okla. City, Okla. He lived near Havana all his life until 12 years ago, when he moved to Oklahoma. He was married to Miss Annie Carter in October 1888 and to the union 11 children were born, 10 still surviving.

William Thomas Smith, 88, of Havana died June 23 at the Yell County Hospital. He was a retired farmer.

Mrs. Zelma Shepherd Smith, age 78, of Dardanelle, AR, widow of Aubry Smith, died Friday, January 31, 1997 at the Dardanelle Hospital. She was born April 29, 1918 in Dardanelle, AR to the late Z. T. and Tishie Tilmon Shepherd. She was a housewife, mother and a member of the Grace Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Aubry Shepherd, Rodney Shepherd and Tilmon Shepherd; two sisters, Thelma Moore and Lucille George and a half sister, Ruby Sanders.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Patsy Love Smith and Phyllis and Calvin Chronister all of Dardanelle; two sisters, Gladys Mashburn of Dardanelle and Virginia Roberts of Little Rock and a grandson, Clinton Chronister of Russellville.

DANVILLE - Frank P. Smoluch, age 65, of Route 1, Belleville, died Saturday, November 1, 1980 at Yell County Hospital. He was a native of Chicago, Ill and son of the late Joseph Frank and Lucy Cetnar Smoluch. He was a farmer and a veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruelene Adkinson Snider; two sons, Donnie Snider and Randy Snider and a grandson, Santiago Garcia.

Ruelene Celesta Adkison Snider, age 70, of Dardanelle, AR died Thursday, March 26, 1998 at her home in Dardanelle. She was born September 16, 1927 in Harkey's Valley, Yell County, Arkansas to the late Ruel Adkison and Vera Celesta Tucker Adkison Pitts. She was raised in Harkey's Valley and went to school in Chickalah's two room school house and then attended the Dardanelle School. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, a homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a nurses aid, having worked in nursing homes in New Mexico, Arizona and Arkansas. For six years she was a senior companion volunteer for the Area Agency for the Aging in Dardanelle.
She was preceded in death by her step-father, Fred Pitts and two sons, Donnie Snider and Randy Snider.
Survivors are her husband, Julian Snider; two sons, Roy Snider of Flagstaff, AZ and Thomas Snider of Espanola, NM; five daughters, Charlette Garvin of Dardanelle, AR, Vera Dagenhart of Idabel, OK, Kathy Jackson of Snowflake, AZ, Sandy Snider and Nathlee Garcia both of Espanola, NM; two brothers, Bill Pitts of Harkey's Valley and Vivon Adkison of Kansas City, MO; one sister, Geraldene Duke of Dardanelle, AR; 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Rodney Clark and Bonnie Snider.

Scott McKenzie Snider, 47, of Little Rock, passed away suddenly of natural causes on Thursday, April 16, 2015. He was born in Paragould, AR on November 21, 1967, to R. Edward and Betty Lynn Snider of Arkadelphia.
He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Mary Keathley Snider, and their three children: Keathley (12), Mary McKenzie (10), and Pearson (7) of Little Rock; his brother, Steve Snider and wife, Beth, and their children: Jack, Chase, and Shelby Snider, from Little Rock; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bobby and Elizabeth Rehm and their daughter, Eliza, from Russellville; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Matthew and Margaret Benson of Fayetteville; and his mother-in-law, Sarah Keathley, of Danville.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Buford "Bood" Keathley, of Danville. He was raised in Arkadelphia where he graduated high school and attended Ouachita Baptist University. Scott was an active participant in Tiger Tunes, a member of Rho Sigma Social Club, and a member of the OBU Alumni Advisory Board. He worked for several years in the pharmaceutical industry and just celebrated his 20th anniversary with VHA as the Vice President of Market Management and Supply Networks. He was an active member of Fellowship Bible Church where he served on the vocal ministry team, led a Community Group and an Authentic Manhood Small Group, and volunteered in numerous other activities. Scott's life reflected the love of Jesus in every way. He was an amazing husband, compassionate father, and friend to many. He was known for his unconditional kindness to every person he met. He took everything in life and made it fun. He was an unbelievably caring friend with the biggest heart anyone could imagine. He loved the Lord, and his faith was as big as his heart. He was passionate for worshipping the Lord and spent his entire life blessing others with his God-given voice as he led worship services and sang in weddings for friends and loved ones. Scott loved his wife, Mary, with all of his heart and was known for modeling Christ's leadership in their home by rejecting passivity, accepting responsibility, leading courageously, and investing eternally. He was an amazing dad who adored his children and spent many hours coaching them in numerous sports. He taught them and their teammates the importance of character based on Biblical principles, and he left a Godly legacy that will continue in all of the lives he touched.
On Monday, April 20, 2015, a visitation was held from noon to 2:00 P.M. at Fellowship Bible Church, 1401 Kirk Rd., Little Rock, AR 72223. Funeral services were followed at 2:00 P.M., in the Worship Center. Ida, formerly of Huckleberry Mtn., met death suddenly May 7 when their truck and trailer left the highway 6 miles from Blackwell, Okla., and struck a bridge banister. The truck and contents caught fire, burning Mrs. Snoderly and the child beyond recognition but a state highway patrolman identified Mr. Snoderly. Mr. Snoderly had taken a truck load of lumber Monday to Kansas from Mt. Ida and at the last moment his wife asked to go along for an outing. They were returning with a truck load of feed for the Stillwater Milling Co., Ft. Smith.

Sgt. 1st Class Charlie O. Snuggs, age 77 of Lawton, OK died March 2, 1998 in a Lawton Hospital. He was born March 11, 1920 in Ola, AR. He married Pearl Baunoch on March 11, 1980 in Las Vegas. He grew up in Arkansas and Oklahoma. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea. He retired from the Army in 1961 after more than 20 years of service. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5263.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl Snuggs, of the home; a son, Charles of California; two daughters, Patricia Joyce Barney of Torrence, CA and Sally Kelly of Barnum, Minn., a sister, Bessie Garner of Rush Springs; a brother, Richard of Mayflower, AR and three grandchildren.

Johnny Fay Snuggs, age 81 of Mayflower, AR departed this life, August 27, 2016 after a 28 day stay in Conway Regional Hospital where he received, beyond excellent care. His daughter, Johnette Reynolds was by his side. He was born November 23, 1934, in Ola, Arkansas (Nickel Switch) to John P. and Coma-Faye (Gasaway) Snuggs.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Alan Lee Snuggs, many aunts, uncles and cousins. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 56 years, Dorothy (Armstrong) Snuggs. They were married in Indianapolis, IN on February 12, 1960 they have one son, Joseph K. Snuggs, one daughter, Johnette (Snuggs) Reynolds (Sammy, Jr.) and two grandsons, Stephen and Christopher Reynolds. One sister, Pauline Merryman, (J.E.) of Plumerville, AR, three nieces and one nephew. A special sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Gene Williams of Kennett, MO. Numerous counsins, friends, co-workers and neighbors. Johnny was affiliated with the Community of Christ, 4415 W. 41st in North Little Rock, AR 72116. Johnny will be remembered fondly for all the work and lessons he freely shared with his family, his sense of humor, and as an avid Razorback Fan. He will also be remembered widely for his assessment of the Navy career; ''Every day in the Navy is like Sunday on the farm. Every day is a holiday and every meal a banquet. Every year is like a long weekend.'' He joined the US Navy on December 19, 1954 and received basic training at San Diego, CA. Johnny retired July 1, 1974, in Memphis, TN and moved to Mayflower, AR where he spent the last 42 years. While in the Navy he served with an all Arkansas group where he was a squad leader. He was sent to Norman, OK for Airman Preparatory School. He went to Millington NAS in Memphis for Tech Training for Aviation Metal Smith. He served in many positions in many countries over his 20 year career. His life will be celebrated at Roller-McNutt Chapel. With Elders Matt Bryant and Donna McVey from Community of Christ, and Bro. David Fox of First Baptist Church in Mayflower participating.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Reynolds, Christopher Reynolds, Sammy Reynolds, Joe Snuggs, Jerry Snuggs, Jeremy Snuggs, Richard Wayne Snuggs and Kevin Snuggs. Kenneth K. Snyder, age 81, of Ola, AR died Sunday, October 24, 1999 at the Dardanelle Hospital in Dardanelle, AR. He was born December 8, 1917 in Newkirk, OK, the son of the late Roy C. and Mildred Poland Snyder. He was a poultry and cattle farmer. He graduated from Green Forest High School and Arkansas Polytechnical College.
He was preceded in death by, his wife, Rachel Manuel Snyder, his brother, Harold Snyder and sister, Lucile Decocq.
Survivors include a brother, Frank Snyder of Green Forest; two sisters, Lois Cannon of El Dorado, AR and Jean Tinsley of Bonner Springs, KS; foster granddaughter, Lesley Butt of Dardanelle, AR; two nephews, Junior and Lester Mans of Clarksville, AR and several other nieces and nephews.

He was the son of Nellie and the late Tom Socha. His family moved to Danville in October of '89 where he attended school from K-12th grade. Frank played on Danville Little Johns' football team, and helped to bring Danville to the playoffs in 2002, his Senior year. Frank was well loved by many in Danville, and will be missed by his family and friends. He will be cremated in Austin, TX and no memorial services will be held.

Thomas G. Socha, age 57, of Danville, AR died Wednesday, October 3, 2001 at the Veterans Hospital in North Little Rock, AR. He was born November 29, 1943 in Bay Shore, NY. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Danville, the NRA, Dutch Creek Fire Department, where he served as assistant Fire Chief and was on the Board of Directors and the Single Action Shooters Society. He grew up on Long Island, NY and served for 28 years in the Air Force as a small arms instructor, ending that career as CM Sgt. In 1989. He was a teacher for four years at the Juvenile Detention Center in Danville. He fought cancer for 11 1/2 years and was an inspiration to other patients in the Veterans Hospital. He cared deeply for his country and was involved in many community and family projects.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Nellie Socha; two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Amy Socha of Omaha, NE and Frank Socha of Danville, AR; two daughters Cecilia Socha of Springfield, NE and Jenipher Socha of Omaha, NE; one brother, John R. Socha of Pavilion, NY and one sister, Janet L'Hommedieu of East Islip, NY.

Elena Castro Solis, age 80 of Danville, AR passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2007 in Ft. Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Danville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aurelio Solis.
She is survived by six daughters Josefa Solis and Maria Romero both of Santa Maria, California, Adela Oliva and Ernestina Gomez both of Danville, Arkansas, and Carmela Banuelos and Elisa Martinez both of Leon Guanajuato, Mexico; four sons Rafael Solis of Danville, Arkansas, Rogelio Solis of Guadalupe, California, Jose Solis of Ft. Smith and Jesus Solis of Danville, Arkansas; one sister Maria Castro of Leon Guanajuato, Mexico; 57 Grandchildren, 49 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Danville. Arrangements under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Ft. Smith. Pallbearers will be her Grandsons.
