Smith, Charles Ray

Charles Ray Smith, 82, of Dardanelle, died Friday, November 21, 2008, at River Valley Medical Center in Dardanelle. Born April 26, 1926, in Little Rock, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Willis D. and Effie Purdue Smith.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kent Alan Smith; two brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Lena Smith; four sons and spouses, Steve and Rhonda Smith of Lake Jackson, Texas, Robert and Judy Smith of Dardanelle, Sherman and Bridget Smith of Russellville, Keith and Nettie Smith of Nashville, Arkansas; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers Bo Rylee, Stephan Smith, Jonathan Smith, Justin Smith, Kenneth Ivey, and Scott George. Honorary pallbearers Blake Smith, Jacob Rylee, and the U. S. Caf morning coffee crew.

PLAINVIEW - Funeral for Chester A. Smith, age 89, of Plainview, who died Wednesday, October 16, 1985, was today at Plainview Church of Christ. Burial was in Salem Cemetery by Humphrey Funeral Service.

Smith, Christopher Hunter

Christopher Hunter Smith age 20 of Dardanelle died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at his home. He was born June 7, 1990 at San Diego, CA to Daniel and Pamela Carol Foster Smith. He was a Lifeguard for Boy Scouts of America, a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Eagle Scouts, Dardanelle High School graduating class of 2009. He was in the Dardanelle ROTC Program for 3 years.

He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, James Terry Foster and Loyd Smith; two uncles, Jim Foster, Bill Smith; one aunt, Mary Baker.

Survivors include his parents, Dan and Pamela Smith of Dardanelle; grandmothers, Carolyn Foster and Geneva Smith of Dardanelle; one brother, Blake Smith of Dardanelle; many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Christopher Warren Smith, age 21, of Rock Springs, WY, formerly of Ola, AR died Monday, March 29, 1999 He was born March 3, 1978 in Amarillo, TX and was a student at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, AR.

He is survived by his parents, Ronald Wayne and Donna Byrd Smith of Rock Springs, WY; a son, Tristan Smith of Dardanelle, AR and a sister, Amanda Smith of Rock Springs, WY.

Smith, Clara Marie

Clara Marie Smith, age 91 of Danville, died Monday, January 6, 2003 at Mitchells Nursing Home in Danville. She was born July 11, 1911 in Waldron, Arkansas to the late Walter Eugene and Iva Starr Dickens. She retired after 30 years as a shipping clerk for General Motors, and then moved to Alaska where she started a restaurant.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Evert VanKampen and Gerald Smith; two brothers, Hershal Dickens and Lonzo Dickens; two sisters, Opal Phillips and Judy Mendoza.

Survivors are a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Geraldine Dickens of Belleville and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

Graveside services will be Thursday, January 9, 2003, 2:00 p. m. Union Hill Cemetery, Hale Town, Scott County. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 8, 2003, 6 to 7 p. m. Smith, Claud Raymond

Claud Raymond Smith, age 89, of Belleville, AR, widow of Alta Lee Smith, died Saturday, September 22, 2001 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. He was born, February 7, 1912 in Riley Creek, Yell County, AR to the late Jack and Rosa Reed Smith. He was a retired postal expeditor for the civil service, working for the postal department at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City; he also worked for the Navy at the ammunition depot in Savannah, OK. He was a farmer, having provided chickens for over twenty years for the chicken scramble at the Yell County Fair.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Hershell Smith and Carl Smith and three sisters, Ida Nobles, Veda Conway and Clara Smith.

Survivors include, one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Raymond and Betty Smith of Arizona; two daughters and son-in-law, Modene A. Waldow of South Carolina and Sue & Larry Baxter of Belleville, AR; six grandchildren, Mark & Mike Waldow, April Smith, Bobby, Amy and Stevie Baxter; three sisters, his twin, Clyde Carter of Danville, AR, Fredda Morse and Vera Bullard of OK; 13 great-grandchildren; several nephews, nieces and his best friend, Jack Pete.

She was born September 29, 1933 in Oklahoma City Oklahoma to the late W.E. and Lillie Maude Shuck Jett. On June 1, 1950 she married the love of her life Bill Smith of Plainview. She was a homemaker, quilter, active in the Plainview Extension Club, but most important was her being a member of the Plainview Free Will Baptist Church and Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three grandsons, Jacob Smith, Lucas Smith, and Samuel Smith; a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years Bill Smith; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Deloris, Steve and Pam Smith, Tim and Janet Smith all of Plainview; grandchildren, William, Kim, Stephanie, Amber, Levi, Brandon, Jett, Rebecca, David, and Laura; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Kristen, Blaine, Donavan, Gage, Paige, Payton, Charlie, and Ben; sister-in-law Lola Smith; and brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Mary Bates.

Smith, Cliff

Cliff Smith, age 95, of Talehina, Oklahoma died February 10, 1998 in McAlister, OK.

Funeral service was February 14 in Clayton, OK at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Rochelle and Rev. William Mitchell officiating. Burial was in A. L. Stephens Cemetery in Clayton.

Born June 17, 1902 in Gillham, AR he was the son of Fred and Evalene Woofard Smith. He married Florence (Sweetie) Bedford on December 29, 1931 in Antlers, OK. He was a retired sawmill owner. He moved to the Talehina area in 1971 and was of the Methodist faith. Cliff was a sawmill contractor for Burnett Wyss Lumber Co. in Ola and surrounding areas in the early 1940's. He was a Mason and a 50 year member of the Petit Jean Lodge at Ola. He also had sawmills in New Mexico and Arizona for several years.

Corine Smith age 74 of Casa died Friday, October 14, 2005 at her home in Casa. She was born August 27, 1931 in Butler County, Kentucky to the late John Ellington and Ida Ethal Tines. She was a homemaker and mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lando Smith and a son, Timothy Smith.

Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Judy Hill of Portage, IN daughters and son-in-law, Gloria Smith and Ginger Smith and Gary Williams all of Casa, Robin Borders of Clifton, CO; a special niece, Brenda Powell of Beech Grove, IN; twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Smith, Coy Humphries

Coy Humphries Smith, age 82, of Casa, AR died Friday, March 20, 1998 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. He was born October 29, 1915 in Edgewood, TX to the late Eddie Warren and Minnie Ophelia Greenhaw Smith. He was a retired World War II Air Force Senior Master Sergeant and retired from the ASCS, SCS and cattle farming. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by a son, Don Reed Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Smith; a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie Warren and Tina K. Smith of Casa, AR; a daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Elden Harper of Rover; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Alma Boggs of Dardanelle; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Infant son of Plainview couple dies. David Clifton Smith, 14 month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Smith Sr. of Plainview, died at 1a.m. Friday, December 3, 1948, at the home of this parents.

Delbert Leon Smith, age 77, of Ola died Sunday, August 10, 2014 at St. Vincent Medical Center. He was born June 17, 1937 in Manila, Arkansas to the late Elmer and Edith Reynolds Smith. He was of Baptist faith and a Retired United States Army Veteran. He loved to play music, fish, and spend time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Kayla Moore, Antonio Jacquez; three brothers, Bobby Smith, Ronnie Smith, Larry Smith.

Survivors include six children, Linda Gamboa and husband Frank of Texas, Bryan Smith and wife Julie of New Mexico, Sandra Smith of New Mexico, Cynthia Baldonado of New Mexico, Delbert Smith Jr. of Little Rock, Heidi Smith of Centerville; nineteen grandchildren; thirty three great grandchildren.

Deward Earl Smith, age 78 of Havana died Sunday, September 25, 2005 at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville. He was born August 4, 1927 in Havana to the late Ervin and Eliza Allen Smith. He was a retired bookkeeper for the Arkansas Highway Dept, a member of the Havana Presbyterian Church and Havana VFW, a 32nd degree Mason, and a WWII and Korean Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ina Sue Nelms Smith.

Survivors are son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Allyson Smith of Havana daughters and sons-in-law, Jody and Jerry Hamrick of Centerville, Peggy and Keith Briggs of Bryant brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul Dean and Fern Smith of Havana, Donnie Gene and Joyce Smith of Ft. Smith, Dianna Kay (Hogan)

Dianna Kay Smith, 60 of Heber Springs, went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 15, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Kay was born Friday, November 2, 1951 to John and Jaunita Barnes Hogan. Kay was a Registered Nurse working for the Arkansas Department of Health and a member of the Sugarloaf Baptist Church in Heber Springs.

Kay is survived by her husband David Smith of the home; her children, a son, Russell Hanna and his wife Amanda; three daughters, Kacie Gulledge, Karey Livingston and her husband Jeremy, Stacy Moore and her husband Scott; her mother, Jaunita Hogan Buckman; a brother, Rickey Hogan and his wife Deb; a sister, Jill Yates and her husband Billy; nine grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Donald Ray Smith, age 54 of Ola, AR died Wednesday, November 28 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born July 14, 1940, in Bluffton, AR son of the late John L. Smith, Sr. and Mrs. Hazel Carpenter Smith of Bluffton. He was a navy veteran.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Hazel Smith of Ola; a son, Donald Ray Smith, Jr. of New Jersey; two daughters, Mrs. Sandra Sturzione of Georgia and Mrs. Judy Moretti of New Jersey; a brother, John L. Smith, Jr. of California and 10 grandchildren.

Donnie Avery Smith of Pagosa Springs, the youngest of eleven children born to Herbert and Agnes Avery on May 27, 1940, slipped quietly away on June 10, 2009.

Preceding her in death were her parents; four sisters, Reatha Mae, Delanie Humphries, Delpha Owens, and Daisy Waldron; five brothers, Virgil, Vernon, Veo (Buck), Alfred, and Vester Avery; and several nephews and nieces.

Donnies survivors include her husband of fifty years, David Smith; daughter, Debbie Fultz and husband, Clay, and their daughter Malinda and her son, Donald Smith all of Pagosa Springs, CO; her granddaughter, Amber Smith and great granddaughters, Kaeley Walters and Kendra Martinez of Durango, CO; niece, Carol Waldron Redmon and husband, Charles of Mulberry, AR and her son, J. D. Shrum and wife Mandy and their children, Kerra and Brandon of Booneville, and daughter, Carrie Shrum of Beaumont, TX; sister, Dollie Ramey of Belleville, AR, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Earl G. Smith, age 75 of Ola, died Friday, May 15, 2009, at River Valley Medical Center in Dardanelle. Son of the late W. R. and Inez Thompson Smith, he was born December 3, 1933, in Texas. He was an Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruby Lowrey, Helen Robuck, and Bobbie Davenport; three brothers, Rufus, Joe, and Billy Smith; and a son, Tony Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Keener Smith; son and daughter-in-law, William and Carolyn Smith of Rover; daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and Bruce Massey of Delaware; grandson and wife Jeremy and Jeanette Smith and his mother, Murrial Smith; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Margie and Hugh Eldridge of Birta, Geneva and Bill Holmes of Casa, Clara Sanders of Hector, Kenneth Davenport of Dardanelle; four step-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; special family friend, Lana Campbell. Pallbearers were David Ray Ballinger, Randy Cox, Kevin Irwin, Coy Holmes, Billy Holmes, and Bruce Massey.

Funeral service was Monday, May 18, 2009 at the Danville Assembly of God Church with Rev. Ron Reddin officiating. Burial was in Earl Ladd Cemetery, Danville. Eddie Warren Smith, age 48 of Danville, AR died Sunday, December 24, 2000 at the University Hospital in Little Rock, AR. He was born September 24, 1952 at Omaha, Neb. he was a supply technician for Arkansas Craft Corp. in Morrilton and a member of the Tinsman Hunting Club in Tinsman.

He was preceded in death by his father, Coy H. Smith; a brother, Don Reed Smith and his grandparents.

Survivors include his mother, Betty Smith of Danville, AR; a son Lucas R. Smith of Russellville, AR; three daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Marty Short of Solgohachia, AR, Candace and Jim Bob Wagner of Casa, AR and Laurie and Carm Smiddy of Reno, Nev. a sister and brother-in-law, Anita and Elden Harper of Rover, AR; his fiance Patty Monroe Apple of Danville, AR; two uncles and aunts; a nephew; a niece and six grandchildren.

Smith, Edith Lynn (Chilcote)

Edith Lynn Chilcote Smith, 69, died peacefully in Houston on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Edith was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. She was born in Tyler on November 28, 1944, to L.E. Ted Chilcote, Esq. and Edith Clark Chilcote. She attended Robert E. Lee High School where she met the love of her life, Ronald Stephen Smith. In high school, she was a Rebelette and enjoyed watching Ronnie play football. They went on to The University of Texas where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She recently was honored with her 50-year pin from the Fort Bend Kappas. In 1964 she and Ronnie married and started their family in Tyler where she was a homemaker, active in the Tyler Junior League, PEO Sisterhood and her children's school activities. Edith later touched the lives of many young people in her 20-plus years of teaching. She began her career in education teaching English at East Texas Baptist College, now ETBU. From there she taught world history at Marshall High School in Marshall, English at Henderson High School in Henderson, world history at Willis High School in Willis, and spent more than a decade teaching U.S. and Texas history at Lamar Junior High School in Rosenberg. Edith was an avid hunter and fisherman during all of her years with Ronnie. Her other hobbies included reading, crosswords, cooking and attending any and every event possible that involved her children and grandchildren.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 37 years, Ronald Stephen Smith; and his parents, Horace Wade Smith and Allie Mildred Smith; brothers, Col. (ret.) Ted Clark Chilcote, Esq. and Dr. Timothy Alan Chilcote; niece, Claire Elizabeth Chilcote; and a number of other extended family members in the East Texas area.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Julianna and Calvin White, of Richmond; her son and daughter-in-law, Wade and October Smith, of Rosenberg; her grandchildren, Stephen Wayne White and Suzanne Edith White, of Richmond and Sydney Lynnanne Smith and Stacey Annalynn Smith, of Rosenberg; sister-in-law, Patsy Chilcote of The Woodlands; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Susan and Leland Finney; nephews, David Chilcote and wife Ashley, Matt Finney, and Todd Finney and wife Audra; and numerous friends in East Texas and Richmond-Rosenberg.

Smith, Elgean

Elgean Smith, 64, of Ola, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at the Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. She was born on April 11, 1940 at Plainview, Arkansas. She was a 1958 graduate of Ola High School. She was the manager of Mima's Cafe in Ola for several years.

She was preceded in death by her father, the late Elza W. Owens.

She is survived by her mother, Iva Lee Lambert Owens of Plainview; a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda Jean and Danny Ralph Burfield of Ola; a grandson, Darren Russell Burfield of Ola; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Amie Lee and Tommy Snow of Dover, Jennie Bea and Gene Littleton of Dardanelle and Geneva and Joe Dishongh of Plainview; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Leon and Louise Owens of Hacket, Ricky Lynn Owens of Plainview, and Danny Ray and Lisa Owens of Plainview; three nephews, five nieces and several great nieces and nephews along with many friends.

Funeral service was held on Friday, April 8, 2005 at the Cornwell Funeral Chapel in Dardanelle. Burial was in New Bethel Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service of Dardanelle. Officiating pastors were Tim Via and Tom Stover. Pallbearers were Jimmy Norwood, Ronnie Littleton, Larry Rose, Carroll Rose, Joe Dishongh and Johnny Sum-mitt. Honorary pallbearers were Jason Walker, Tommy Snow, Gene Littleton and Phillip Tippin. Eliza Allen Smith, age 86 of Havana, AR died Wednesday, June 23, 1993, in Danville. She was born March 27, 1907 in Gravelly, AR. Daughter of the late William Allen and Henryetta Benefield. She was a housewife and mother and a member of the Havana Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include three sons, Deward Smith of Belleville, AR, Paul Smith of Broken Arrow, OK and Don Smith of Ft. Smith, AR; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Ellen Townsend Smith, 56 of Belleville, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born in Lubbock, TX to the late Leo Townsend and Minnie Warren. She was retired from Wayne Farms.

She was preceded in death by her father; one sister, Lola Short; brother, James Townsend.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Bobby Smith; her mother, Minnie Warren of Mt. George; one sister and brother-in-law, Flora and Wayne Jackson of Mt. George; two daughters, Debra Bice and husband, Dale of Danville, Elizabeth Johnston and husband, Johnny of Havana; four grandchildren and spouses, Tabitha and Ray Reynolds, Michael and Suzie Lloyd, Ashley and Halacius Phillips, Crystal and Tel Millard; and 13 great-grandchildren and five nieces and nephews.

Elmer L. Smith, age 99, of Story, AR died Tuesday, January 16, 2001. He was born December 19, 1901 at Stillwater, AR, the son of Rev. William D. Smith and Henrietta Lambert Smith.

On January 15, 1927, he was married to Tina Palmer who preceded him in death on April 5, 1998. He was a member of Muddy Creek Church of God and served as a deacon for 70 years. He served many years with the Reed Cemetery Association. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother and infant grandson.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Royal and Betty Smith of Story, AR; his grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Johnny and Connie Smith of Story, AR; two great-grandsons and numerous cousins and friends.

Services were January 20, 2001 at the Muddy Creek Church of God with Revs. Marcus Phillips and Bill Singleton officiating. Interment was in Reed Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home of Glenwood, AR. Pallbearers were Erby Qualls, John Reid, Paul D.
