Mrs. William Short, 75, Rover, died May 7, 1956 in the University Hospital in Little Rock. A native of Yell County, Mrs. Short was formerly Miss Margarette Lela Pochus. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Roy Short and Erwin Short of Rover; four daughters, Mrs. Madison Garner of Gravelly, Mrs. Ben Prunty of Rover, Mrs. Hershel Crites of Ola and Mrs. Allie Gilkey of Oildale, Calif, two brothers, Oil Pockrus of Centerville and Jack Pockrus of Ranger, Tex.; a sister, Mrs. Frank Faulkner of Dardanelle; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Shott, Clara

Clara Shott, age 95, of Havana, AR died Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Russellville, AR. She was born March 4, 1906 in Magazine, AR to the late Joseph and Martha Beam Biggs. She was a homemaker, mother and a member of the First Baptist Church in Havana, AR.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Taylor Shott and all her siblings.

She is survived by, one son and daughter-in-law, James and Betty Shott of Booneville, AR; three daughters and sons-in-law, Melba and Doyle Barrick of Danville, AR, Chloe and Charley Ward of Magazine, AR and Fern and Paul Smith of Havana, AR; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.

Service was June 22, 2001 at the First Baptist Church, Havana, AR with Rev. Charlie Bird and Rev. Bill Storts officiating. Interment will be in Piney Cemetery, Waveland, AR by Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville, AR. Pallbearers were Randy Barrick, Mike Smith, Rocky Smith, Dale Shott, Doug Shott and Wade Smith. Mrs. Cora Biggs Shott, age 93, of Danville, died Sunday, December 24, 1989 at the Yell County Hospital. She was a native of Waveland, a housewife and mother and the daughter of the late Joe and Martha Beam Biggs.

Survivors include one son, Shirley Shott of Havana; one daughter, Euna Cherry of Fort Smith; two sisters, Clara Shott and Bertha Barker both of Havana; five grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday at the Havana Assembly of God Church with Rev. E.O. Tackett and Rev. Hulon Wiser officiating. Interment was at Havana Cemetery. Mrs. Ethel Shott, aged 84, of Havana died Tuesday in a Danville hospital. She was a member of the Havana Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Elva McBride of Havana and Mrs. Lennie Fenton of the Ola nursing home; one brother, Robert Simmons of Haileyville, Okla.; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Shott, Floyd David

Floyd David Shott, age 65 of Abilene, TX, formerly of Waveland, died December 5 in Hendrick Medical Center after a brief illness. He. was a carpenter, a member of the North Park Church of Christ and was married to the former Reba Rogers of Waveland.

Survivors include his wife; his mother, Mrs. G.T. Shott of Winters; two sons, Melvin of Houston and Edward of 2409 Barrow; three daughters, Doris Garvin of 1837 Minter Lane, Wanda Beil of Huntsville and Patricia Havins of Anchorage, Alaska; four brothers, Calvin of Abilene, Carol of Winters, Ivan of Dallas and Dewey of Amarillo; two sisters, Clytie Ramey of Danville and Ruby Brooks of Abilene and 13 grandchildren.

Shott, Guss T.

Guss T. Shott, age 90 of Winters, Texas died at his home Thursday. He was a former resident of Waveland, and moved to Texas in 1929. He was a farmer and in the trucking business. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Floyd and Calvin of Abilene, Ivan of DeSota, Dewey of Amarillo and Carroll of Winters; two daughters, Mrs. W. C. Ramey of Danville, Mrs. Royce Brooks of Abilene; a brother, Lester of Havana; six sisters, Mrs. Belle Scott, Mrs. Marie Ensey and Mrs. Carmen Nelms all of Waveland, Mrs. Meda Boss of Maryland, Mrs. Zelia Frame of Danville and Mrs. Alive Love of Modesto, CA; 22 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Hugh Lester Shott, age 81, of Havana, died Thursday, December 25 at the Yell County Hospital in Danville. He was a native of Waveland, the son of the late David and Eliza McBride Shott. He was a retired Railroad Employee and a Veteran of World War I.

Shirley Sherman Shott, of Havana, AR died Friday, July 24, 1998 at his home. He was born December 27, 1925 in Waveland, AR to the late Lester and Cora Biggs Shott. He was a WWII Army Veteran, carpenter, poultry and cattle farmer and a member of the Havana Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Wesley Ellis Shott.

Shott, Wesley E.

Funeral services for Wesley E. Shott, age 26, of Havana, whose body was returned from overseas for re-burial, were conducted at the National Cemetery in Ft. Smith on July 21 by the Chaplain and with the assistance of Rev. George Findley of Havana. He was wounded on March 19, 1945 while serving with an Infantry Division on Luzon and died on March 24. He was the graduate of Havana high School.

Clifford Ray Sides age 84 of Dardanelle died Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born July 13, 1927 at Stafford, AR to the late Lester Oscar and Leola Martin Sides. He was a WWII Army Veteran, a member of the Gideons, a past Board Member of the Chickalah Fire Department, a member and Elder of the Gum Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bessie Adkison, Ruby Sides; a brother, Scott Sides and a grandson, Jeffery Siegler.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Willie Earcle Parks Sides of Dardanelle; five daughters, Linda and Iverson Gibson of Dardanelle, Carol and Ronnie Adkison of Dardanelle, Debra and Michael Siegler of Blytheville, Bonnie and David Brock of Dardanelle, Donna and Franky Geurian of Dardanelle; one son, Lynn and Kay Waid of Rockbridge, OH; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sides, Effie Lee

Mrs. Effie Lee Sides, age 88, a resident of Dexter, MO died January 27, 1978 at Poplar Bluff Hospital in Poplar Bluff, MO. Mrs. Sides was born October 17, 1889 near Belleville. She was married to Grover Sides May 7, 1905. He died in April, 1971. She united with the Methodist Church at an early age and was a member of Essex, MO Methodist Church.

Survivors are five daughters, Mary King of Belleville, Irene McCarrell of Little Bock, Inez Bannesar and Mozel Templeton of Conway and Dorothy Sue Joseph of Dexter, MO; four sons, Ezra Sides, Greenfield, IL, John W. Sides, Conway, Jack Sides of Bowling Green, KY and Kent Sides of Dexter, MO; two brothers, Ray Payne of Rives, MO, Mahon Payne of Booneville; three sisters, Vernie White of Havana, Katy James of Dardanelle and Lula Smith of Paris, AR; 29 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.

Services were held Sunday, January 29, in Watkins and Son Funeral Chapel in Dexter. Rev. Doyle Burke, pastor of Essex Methodist Church officiated. Funeral services for George L. Sides, age 86, of Kennett, MO were conducted October 18, 1995 at the McDaniel Chapel with the Revs. Zach Parr and Louie Cordell officiating. Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery.

The son of the late Nelson Gideon and Mary Noblet Sides, he was born November 30, 1908 in Danville, AR. On December 24, 1933 he was married to Claris Brand. He died October 15, 1995 at the NHC Health Care Center in Kennett, MO.

Survivors include: his wife, Claris Sides of Kennett; one son, George Arther Sides, East Peoria, IL; three daughters, Myrtle Todd of Jackson, TN, Beatrice Sides and Alta Jackson both of Kennett; one brother, Delton Sides of Taos, NM; one sister, Claudia Elmore, Spring, TX; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Sides, Grover Cleveland

Grover Cleveland Sides, the son of the late Scott and Mary Ellen Walker Sides was born December 24, 1884 at Belleville and succumbed April 20, 1971 at the Popular Bluff Hospital in Popular Bluff, Mo. at the age of 86. Mr. Sides has been a resident of Stoddard County since 1942. He was a member of the Essex Masonic Lodge and had been a Mason for over 50 years. He was a member of the Lower Spring Creek Church in Belleville and was active in the church until ill health forced him to retire. On May 7, 1905 he was married to Effie Lee Payne at Belleville.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Effie Lee Sides of Route 2, Dexter Mo.; five daughter, Mrs. Clifford King of Belleville, Mrs. Oral McCarroll of Little Rock, Mrs. Dewey Bonnesar of Montebelo, Calif., Mrs. Leo Wilcox of Conway and Mrs. John Joseph of Parma, Mo.; four sons, Ezra W. Sides of Hettick, Ill., John W. Sides of Conway, R. J, Sides of Bowling Green, Ky., and Bobby Sides of Dexter. Three daughters preceded him in death. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren. and 26 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 23, at 1:30 p.m. in the Watkins and Sons Chapel with Rev. Doyle Corlew of Essex. Full Masonic Services were conducted by the Essex Masonic Lodge No. 278. Sides, Ira E.

Ira E. Sides, a lifelong resident of Danville, died Friday, December 13, 1990 in Little Rock. He was born September 15, 1902 in the Moss Creek Community in Yell County, son of the late G.M. (Sam) and Pearlie Herring Sides. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the North African Campaign. He was a Methodist and had served on the Board of Stewarts at the Danville Methodist Church. He had worked on the Yell County Equalization Board and served on the ASCS Advisory Council. He was a retired farmer and was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Mathis Sides and three brothers.

He is survived by several cousins.

Funeral services were Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Danville with Rev. Bobby Walker, Chaplain Howard Cox and Elder Luther Riddle officiating. Burial was in Earl Ladd Memorial Cemetery in Danville, AR. Arrangements and services by Cornwell Funeral Home. DANVILLE - John Clifford Sides, age 77, of Danville died Monday, December 5, 1983 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was a native of the Macedonia community, a retired farmer, and was the son of the late George and Pearlia Herring Sides.

Mrs. Leola Sides, 74, of Dardanelle died Friday in a hospital there. She was a native of Yell County and was a member of the Sulphur Springs Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Clifford Sides of Danville and Scott Sides of Perryville; one sister [daughter], Mrs. Floyd Adkinson of Dardanelle; three brothers, Arthur Martin of Danville, Johnny Martin of Belleville and Grady Martin of Leonard, Okla.; three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Abbot of Ducer, Calif, and Mrs. Minnie Lampkin and Mrs. Grace Lane of Danville; 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Sides, Marie (Pixley)

Marie Sides, daughter of the late Albert and Emma Berry Pixley, was born in Advance, Missouri on February 23, 1924, and passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on January 21, 2014, at the age of 89 years, 10 months and 29 days. She had lived in Dexter until 1966, when she moved to Ellington, Missouri. She moved to Poplar Bluff in 1986. She was a member of the First Church of God in Poplar Bluff. On June 3, 1945 she was married to John W. Sides in Piggott, Arkansas.

He preceded her in death on October 18, 1998.

Surviving are one son, John Dale Sides of Conway, Arkansas; two daughters, Rose Chitwood of Harviell, Missouri, Barbara Cowin of East Prairie, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; twenty great great grandchildren; two great great great grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Pixley of Sikeston; six sisters, Mary Pixley Clark of Dexter, Mildred Parks, Lillian Dewitt, JoAnn Melton, Glida Eisenouser and Pat Sanders all of Sikeston; and her beloved cat, Baby. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Thomason, one daughter, Thelma Gibson, one granddaughter, Tammy Jo Gibson and one brother, Louis Pixley.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2014, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 23, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Richard Triplett of Poplar Bluff, Missouri officiating. Interment with be in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements. Sides, Martha Mathis

Mrs. Martha Mathis Sides, age 78, of Danville died Sunday evening, March 16, 1980 at the St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. Mrs. Sides was a native of Briggsville, a retired school teacher, and the daughter of the late Thomas Hardy and Rebecca Jane Smith Mathis.

Survivors include her husband, Ira E. Sides; one brother, Bob Mathis of Mesa, Arizona; six sisters, Mrs. Pearl Carpenter of Bluffton, Mrs. Vera English of Plainview, Mrs. Ila Reece of Hot Springs, Mrs. Johnnye Scifres of Terrell, Mrs. Ester Hunnicutt of Hot Springs, and Mrs. Atha Dell Hedden of Russellville.

Funeral services were held at the Danville United Methodist Church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Interment was at the Earl Ladd Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Cleo Cowger, Carl Woodard, Jack Wilson, Tom Pool, Dale Rogers, and Orville Shore. Family requests that memorials may be made to the Danville United Methodist Church. Sides, Robert C.

Robert C. Sides, age 76, of Danville died Sunday, February 15, 1987 at St. Vincent's Infirmary in Little Rock. Sides was one of three persons injured in a Thursday accident near Danville. The car in which Sides was a passenger collided with a van in dense fog, Yell County authorities said. When the accident occurred Sides was enroute to Fort Smith for medical treatment. He was a native of Oklahoma, the son of the late Nelson G. and Mary M. Noblett Sides. He was a retired employee of the city of Tulsa, Okla. He served with the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Ranger Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lorene May Sides; four sons, Johnny Sides of Danville, Robert E. Sides of Longview, Texas, Jimmie L. Sides Sr. of Jackson, Calif. and Virgil J. Sides of Kent, Wash.; two daughters, Loretta Downs of Woodward, Okla. and Linda Davis of Coweta, Okla.; three brothers, George Sides of Missouri, Joseph Sides of Tulsa and Delton Sides of New Mexico; two sisters, Claudia Elmore of Tulsa, Okla. and Pernia Douthit of California; 15 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at. 2 p. m. Tuesday at Ranger Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Earl Stapleton and the Rev. Connie Cariker. Robert Eugene "Gene" Sides, age 65 of Hallsville, Texas, died Monday, October 25, 2004 at Good Shepard Medical Center. He was an Industrial Mechanic, employed by Halliburton for 23 years. He was a teacher and a member of the Ranger Free Will Baptist Church and a member of the Captain John Yancy Marie Corp. League.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Willa Dean Warren Sides of Hallsville, TX; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Lorrie Sides of Highland Village, TX, Michael and Lisa Sides of Hallsville, TX; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Darrell Copsey of Corsicana, TX, Pamela and Richard Nelson of Hallsville, TX; a brother, John Sides of Danville and six grandchildren.

Sigle, Meda Hazel Thomas

Mrs. Meda Hazel Thomas Sigle, age 87 of Dardanelle, AR, widow of Verne Sigle, died Sunday, November 28, 1999 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born March 25, 1912 in Oney, OK to the late George and Artie Anna Hamilton Thomas. She was a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ for 39 years and attended the Ard Church of Christ before moving her membership to Dardanelle and was a teacher with the World Bible School. She was a homemaker and mother.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sony a Sigle.

Survivors are, three sons, Jack Sigle of Alexander, AR, Terry Sigle and Lynn Sigle both of Dardanelle, AR; one daughter, Sharon Clark of Elkins, AR; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was November 30, 1999 at the Brearley Cemetery by Bro. Ralph Weinhold. Services under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle, AR. Sikes, Ruby Carrouth

Ruby Carrouth Sikes, age 77, of Del City, OK was called to her Heavenly home on Friday, April 11, 2003. She was born June 4, 1925 in Macedonia, AR to Johnnie R. and Fannie Mae Carrouth. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and after retirement was active in the Pioneer Organization. Ruby was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed her walks in the mall. She was also a long-time, faithful member of First Southern Baptist Church of Del City.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Leroy, of the home; 1 son, John Sikes and his wife Linda of Oklahoma City; 3 grandchildren Jon Brian, Garret, and Landon Sikes; one half-sister Alma Taylor of Norman, OK; one nephew, Gary Garner; two nieces Sharee Gorman and Glynelle Pool, all of Danville, AR, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 son, Paul Sikes; 1 brother, Laudel Carrouth; 1 sister, Helen Garner; 4 half-brothers; and, 4 half-sisters. Ruby will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and faithful servant of Christ.

Sills, Cecil Dewey

Cecil Dewey Sills, Jr. died Friday, August 10, 2007. Born January 13, 1942, in Dardanelle, he was the son of the late Cecil D. Sr. and Moreo Johnston Sills. He was the owner of Circle S Filters in Dardanelle for over 15 years, a member of the Dardanelle Missionary Baptist Church and a Mason with the Bright Star Lodge #213.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Anna Mae Sills; three daughters and sons-in-law, Summer and Chuck Trusty of Lorena, Texas, Amy and Gerald Beene of Dardanelle, Stacey and Kevin Hottinger of Dardanelle; a brother, Jerry Sills of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren, Haley and Sarah Trusty, Caleb Beene, Hunter and Greyson Hottinger; and numerous other family and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 13, 2007 at 10:00 a. m. at the Dardanelle Missionary Baptist Church with Tom McElmurry and Chuck Trusty officiating. Interment was held at Durvin Cemetery, Dardanelle under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle. Pallbearers include Andy Ward, Conner Collier, Jim Dickens, John Mills, Jerry Hottinger and Danny Goodman. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren and Hoyt Johnston. Winnie B. Sills, 79, of Danville, Arkansas passed from this life Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in a Danville, Arkansas nursing home. She was born September 25, 1930 in Oklahoma to the late Rufus and Ester (Maddox) Banister. She was a retired bookkeeper, a member of the 1st Assembly of God in Plainview, Texas and Order of the Eastern Star in Plainview, Texas. Winnie is survived by one son, Ricky B. Sills and wife, Tori of Yukon, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Kayla and Casey Sills both of Yukon, Oklahoma; one sister, Shirley Limbocker of Danville, Arkansas; one niece, Glenda Limbocker Vaughn of Danville, Arkansas; two nephews, Wendell Limbocker of Danville, Arkansas, Wink Banister of Lubbock, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Floyd Banister.

Winnie's funeral service was held on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the Egypt Free Will Baptist Church in Blue Ball, Arkansas with Rev. Earnest Lambert and Rev. Jackie Allen, officiating. Interment followed in the Moore Memorial Garden in Arlington, Texas on Monday, April 5, 2010. Arrangements are being entrusted to Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas. Winnie's pallbearers were Ronnie Lemons, Steve Lunsford, Leslie Vaughn, Chris Vaughn, Tony Vaughn, and Jeffrey Vaughn. Simmons, Thelma Sue

Thelma Sue Simmons, age 93 of Russellville died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 19, 1910, in Dardanelle to the late W. P. and Laura (Baker) Dunn. She was a businesswoman and operated a grocery store in Dardanelle with her late husband, Fay Simmons for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fay Simmons.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue Peters of Little Rock, a sister and brother-in-law, Marie and J. C. Kifer of Russellville, 3 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandsons.

Funeral service was held July 9, 2004 at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Rev. Christy Newton officiating. Interment was at Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle. Pallbearers were Steve Peters, Jeff Haun, Jeff Simon, Charles Shingleur, Steve Hughes, and Curt Dunn. Arrangements were by Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle.
