Schuemann, Dorothy Helen

Dorothy Helen Schuemann, age 85, Russellville, formerly of Dardanelle died Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born December 16, 1916 in Tinley Park, Illinois; she was the daughter of the late William and Marie Brunner Andres.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin W. Schuemann; a sister, Sylvia Reynolds. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Altar Guild, and Women's Mission League, Bay Ridge Boat and Golf Club, Elks, AARP, and Dardanelle Garden Club. She retired after 25 years as a sewing instructor and salesperson for Singer Sewing Machine Company.

Survivors include a daughter, Norma D. Schuemann Benck and husband, Raymond of Binghamton, NY; sons, Dennis A. Schuemann and wife, Madelen, of Squaw Lake, MN, Garry William Schuemann and wife, Virginia of Darien, IL; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services were Saturday, August 31, 2002 at 1:00 p. m. at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Darrell C. Kobs officiating. Burial was in Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle. Pallbearers were Dennis Schuemann, II, Courtney McMillian, Jeffrey Benck, Will Oliphant, Richard Knoernschild, and Frank Pignotti. Honorary pallbearers were Ike Allen Laws, Ed Temple, Herb Crosier, and Stephen "Bro" Price. Schuh, Russell Louis

Russell Louis Schuh, 72, of Russellville died last Friday in a Russellville hospital. He was a native of Indiana and had lived in Russellville since 1928. He was an accountant and auditor and a Mason, a member of the Little Rock Consistory and a Shriner.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mabel Cardwell Schuh; two sons, James Louis Schuh of Russellville and Charles R. Schuh of West Memphis; a daughter, Mrs. Max Taylor of Russellville; a sister, Mrs. R.H. Wright of Duncan, Okla.; and six grandchildren. Schwartz, Dorothy

Mrs. Dorothy Schwartz, age 78, of Dardanelle, AR died Tuesday, January 28, 1997 at the Dardanelle Hospital. She was a member of the Methodist Faith, housewife, and homemaker. She was born November 29, 1918 in Wooster, OH to the late Mr. and Mrs. John Swank.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Schwartz.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Kim Schwartz of Russellville and John and Bonnie Schwartz of Andover, KS; one sister, Virginia Swank of Wooster, OH; also included are five grandsons.

Schwartz, Elvin L. "Smoky"

Elvin L. "Smoky" Schwartz, age 60, of Dover, AR died Tuesday, June 30, 1998 at his home. He was born December 10, 1937 in Loretto, Nebraska to the late Carl and Alice Tinker Schwartz. He was a retired heavy equipment master mechanic and after his retirement began raising Emu's and started the American Emu Product Company.

Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Monica and Jerry Hancock of Belleville, AR; a brother, William Schwartz of Dover, AR; two grandchildren, Ashley and Alexis Hancock both of Belleville, AR.

Gene Melvin Schwindt, age 75, of Plainview died Friday, November 4, 2005 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born September 8, 1930, in Leoti, Kansas to Nick and Mollie Lorene Schwindt.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Adie Schwindt, and two brothers, Leroy and Lawrence "Buddy" Schwindt.

Hays Scisson Dies of Heart Attack- Hays Scisson was born at Riley Creek, near Danville, on October 10, 1889 and died following a heart attack at his home here May 19. He was a druggist and merchant here for many years but had been in ill health the last few years. He was married to Mab Briggs on December 23, 1916.

He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Haynes A. Harmon Sr. of Memphis, Tenn. Mab B. Scisson, 73, of Danville died Monday at a hospital in Russellville. She was the widow of the late Hays Scisson and a member of the Danville Methodist Church.

Scisson, Mr. Will Zack

Mr. Will Zack Scisson, born at Danville, Arkansas, July 11, 1910. Mr. Scisson's family moved to Ciscoe when he was 10. He finished High School at De Valls Bluff and was graduated from Monticello A&M College with high honors. Mr. Scisson was Assistant Post Master at Biscoe and since that time has been manager for a mercantile company at Biscoe. He was a sturdy quiet, Christian man, a Methodist.

The body was brought to Danville, Friday, and burial was Sunday in the Danville cemetery with Dr. D.M. Tolison conducting the funeral service. Mr.

Charley Ben Scoles, age 78, died Tuesday at his home in Centerville, AR. He was born May 14, 1923 in Centerville, AR, son of the late Ben and Gracie Lee Stroud Scoles. He was a member of the Mt. George Church of Christ and retired from Duffield Gravel.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lottie Schouweiler and Sadie Hilliard and brothers, Thelmer, Raymond, Johnny and Sid Scoles.

Mildred M. Scoles, age 90, of Dardanelle, died Thursday, September 14, 2006 at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Hospital. She was born January 25, 1916 at Yell County to the late Millard and Ozie Smith Underwood. She was a homemaker and attended Faith Church in Dardanelle.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Thelmar Scoles; a son, Cleveland Scoles; three brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Jerry Await of Centerville, Joann Parker of Dardanelle; one son, Gary Scoles of Cedarville; brother, Herbert Underwood of Dardanelle; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Bro. David Jay officiating. Interment was at Petillo Hill Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Reece Sud Scott who died in 1996; and by a sister, Martha Rebecca Holland and a twin sister, Annie Mae Littleton.

Survivors include three children, Mike Scott of Russellville, Suzy Scott-Williams of Collierville, TN and Sally Scott of Dardanelle, AR; four granddaughters and two great granddaughters.

Anna Marie Elizabeth Cinger Scott, age 71, died August 17, 1998 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. She was one of four daughters of Van Joseph and Mary Margaret Wesley) Cinger. She was born August 22, 1926 on the Cinger farm near Dardanelle, AR. She graduated from Dardanelle High School in 1946. She married John A. Scott III on January 1, 1948. She worked at pharmacies and as a child care provider. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner, Iowa and was an active member. She has also been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Bingo club and the Birthday club.

She is survived by her husband, John of Sumner, IA; eight daughters, Carol Feller and husband, Brian of Bellavue, IA, Karen Smith and husband, Frank of Bloomfield, NM, Dianne Strickler and husband, Gary of Centerville, I A, Joyce Bast and husband, Ron of Evansville, IN, Sharon Long and husband, Brett of South Milwaukee, WI, Lynn Scott of Sumner, Ann Cutshall and husband, Steve of Allison, OA and Alice Scott of Sumner, IA; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Bessie Kepchar of Crown Point, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Josephine and Frances, who died in infancy at six months of age, and an infant granddaughter.

Funeral service was held August 22, 1998 at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner, IA with Rev. John Sorenson and Rev. Norman Stubbendick officiating. Ben Scott of Bauxite, long-time resident of the Young Gravelly community in YelI county, died March 8 at the age of 87 and was buried In the Bluffton Cemetery March 9. Unde Ben, as he was called by his many friends, was an honorary member of Bluffton Lodge No. 123, F. & A. M., and had been a Mason for 80 years. He resided more than 50 years near Bluffton in Yell county, where he reared his family. Masonic rites were conducted by the Bluffton Lodge.

Uncle Ben Scott of Bauxite, long time resident of the Young Gravelly community in Yell County, departed this life March 8, 1949 at the age of 87 years, and laid to rest in the Bluffton Cemetery. Uncle Ben was a honorary member of Bluffton Lodge No. 123 F. & A. M. and had been a Mason for 50 years. He was well liked by everyone in his acquaintance and resided for more than 50 years near Bluffton in this county.

Scott, Billy Gray "Bill"

Billy Gray "Bill" Scott, 78, died Sunday, November 9, 2003 at an Abilene Medical Center in Texas. He was the ninth and last child of Felix Franklin and Maude Zelia Valentine Scott, born October 8, 1925 in Waveland, AR. He graduated from high school in Havana, AR. He attended Ark. Tech in Russellville and continued his education by completing several courses in various universities. His career as an educator began as a vocational agriculture teacher in Texas. He substituted for Harry Holt on his weekly TV and daily radio programs, having appeared as a guest many times. Among several other things, he was associated with Texas Pork Producers Association. From several schools and associations he won many medals and awards. He sold the "world record breaking" boar at the Texas Hampshire Breeder's Conference, the largest swine sale in the United States, for $200, 000. He married Marilyn Money of Waco, TX on June 23, 1951. He was a charter member of South 11th and Willis Church of Christ, was a deacon and a teacher. He was a United States Marine veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Rex and Ray Scott; 2 sisters, Marie Jackson and Vivian Mayes.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Scott of Abilene, TX; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Tiffany and Dan Wyde, Dallas, TX and Chandra and Ken Corse, Hartley, TX; 4 sisters, May Holland of Wimberley, TX, Fairy Parker of Mesquite, TX, Ailene Wangerin of Abilene, TX and Mary Feely of Needham, MA; and two grandsons.

Funeral service was Wednesday, November 12, 2003. On visitation night the Elliot-Hamil Funeral Home displayed all his medals and 6th awards, along with his grade report card, which drew more attention than anything else. Charles Verlon Scott, 87, of Ola passed away at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville on October 6, 2017. The son of Earl and Erma (New) Scott, he was born November 20, 1929, in Cherry Hill. He grew up in Perry County, attending school at Cherry Hill. Two of Verlon's greatest loves while growing up were his horse, Charlie, and playing the fiddle. He enjoyed playing music throughout his life and was constantly working to improve. He loved playing twin fiddles. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving on the USS Atlanta CL04. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ola and VFW Post 8525 in Plainview.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Lola Sue Brimm and Sheila Kay Scott, son-in-law, Eldon Brimm; granddaughter Natalie Brimm; three brothers, Leon, Billy, and Carroll; and two sisters, Edith Cagle and Flora Dean Bird.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Dwight Robertson; two grandsons, Nation (Heather) Brimm of Appleton and Brandon (Tracy) Robertson of Casa; three granddaughters, Natasha (Stephen) Mantooth of Plainview, Joni Kay Crabill of Havana, Sarah (Michael) Miller of Clarksville; eight great-grandchildren, Samantha, Kylee, Garot, Joe, Johnathon, Auston, Trey, Rylee; one great-great grandchild, Ryder; and one brother, Jimmy Scott of Morrilton.

Scott, Dale A.

Dale A. Scott, age 68, of Danville, AR died Saturday, June 10, 2000 at Chambers. Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. He was born January 8, 1932 in Okemah, OK to the late Benjamin and Melisie McCain Scott. He was a retired water superintendent for the city of Danville, a Korean War veteran and a member of the Plainview VFW 8525.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Scott and a sister, Hazel Hammons.

Survivors are, his wife, Ella Vaughn Scott; a daughter, Peggy Deen of Morrilton, AR; a sister, Sharon West of Dumas, AR; a grandson, Scott Deen of DeQueen, AR and a; granddaughter, April Deen of Los Angeles, CA.

Scott, Elmer

Elmer Scott, age 58 of Ola, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at his home in Ola. He had served in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was born in Heber Springs, Arkansas on July 22, 1945. He was the son of the late Walter and Ida Phiamlee Scott.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Thurman, Lelous, and Elbert Scott, and two sisters, Kathleen Patterson, and Wilajean Kemp.

Survivors include four brothers, Arlen Scott of Briggsville, Shelby Scott of Rover, Donald Scott, and Loyd Scott of Plainview, four sisters, Rosa L. Hooker, Mt. Ida, Gladys Gibson, and Lois Velasqueze of California, and Hazel Scott of Plainview and several nephews and nieces.

Scott, Florence E. Fudge

Florence E. Fudge Scott, age 78,; of Delaware, AR died Wednesday, February 26, 1997 at the Saline County Hospital in Benton, AR. She was a retired store owner in Delaware. She was born November 23, 1918 in Adona, AR to the late I Andrew and Fannie Mae Hunter Fudge. She has resided with her daughter, Barbara Rollans of Bryant for the past year.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Scott and a son, Donald Scott.

Survivors include two sons, A. J. Scott of Little Rock and Michael Scott of Russellville; four daughters, Barbara Rollans of Bryant, Jo Anne Johns of St. Charles, IL, Anita (Susie) Crow of Dardanelle and Phyllis Snow of Soldatna, Alaska; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral service was Friday, February 28, 1996 at the Cornwell Funeral Chapel in Dardanelle with Rev. David Jay and Rev. Lonnie Guess officiating. Interment was in the Brearley Cemetery. Frances Scott, age 63 of Briggsville, passed away September 15, 2011 at the Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. She was born July 15, 1948 in Ingleside, TX to the late George Delphin and Lillian Konarek West. She worked for the Fourche Valley School District and was a member of the Rover First Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Doyle Emil West; sister, Emma Jewelean VanBeavers and grandson, David McDaniel.

Survivors include her husband, Arlen Scott; son, Ivan Winningham and wife, MaryAnn of Corpus Christi, TX; daughters, L. Scott, Gene Paxton

Gene Paxton Scott, 87, of Danville passed away peacefully with many family members at his side on July 18, 2009. He was born November 21, 1921 in Schleswig, Iowa to William Dell and Mary Ann Scott. He graduated from Schleswig High School and attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He was the 1941 Iowa Golden Gloves boxing champion in the 160-pound division and was nicknamed Lefty. In New Burn, North Carolina on March 24, 1944, Gene married Joyce Annette Roadman. The two made their home in Sioux City, Iowa where they raised their children. He worked as a realtor at Mansfield Sandman until he retired in 1979 and moved to their ranch in Danville, AR. Gene served in the United States Marine Corp as a First Lieutenant and flew the FU4 Corsair in WWII as a Fighter Pilot from 1942 to 1947. During his tour he traveled to the South Pacific, Japan, Guam, Midway, Okinawa and China. Besides loving his family, Gene had a passion for airplanes, horses and serving others. He was also a friend of Bill W. Gene was a faithful member of St. Johns Catholic Church in Russellville, AR.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one brother, three sisters, and one grandson.

He is survived by seven children, Gene Michal and Paul Sussman of San Diego, CA; Rick and Corlee Scott of Sioux City, IA; Greg Scott and Gene Eriquiaga of San Diego, CA; Cynthia (Skin) Scott-Forsythe and Robert Forsythe of Little Rock, AR; Shane Scott of Little Rock, AR; Bill and Josie Scott of Sioux City, IA and Maryann (DeeDee) Scott and Greg Olmstead of Linden, CA. He is also survived by thirteen awesome grandchildren and fourteen beautiful great grandchildren.

There will be a casual memorial service to celebrate Genes life on Friday, July 24th at 11:00 a. m. at the JoGene Ranch, 28137 State Hwy 80. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital at 4300 West 7th Street, Little Rock, AR 72205, attention Hematology Department. Herbert N. "Sonny" Scott, age 67 of North Little Rock, AR formerly of Ola, ARdied Friday, January 17, 1997 at Rebsamen Regional Medical Center in Jacksonville. Scott, John A.,III

John A. Scott, III, son of John A., II and Gussie Pike Scott, was born August 17, 1926, in Yell County, Arkansas. He was baptized on September 30, 1926, in Arkansas and confirmed March 17, 1960 at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner by Rev. John Mohr. He attended Arkansas Tech in Russellville and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville where he received his B.S. He later did graduate work at Oklahoma A&M University which is now Oklahoma State University. John served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and Korea. On January 1, 1948, he was united in marriage with Anna M. Cinger at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Dardenelle, Arkansas. John began his long career as a Vocational Agriculture instructor in Hector, Arkansas. He would then teach in Elk Horn, Coon Rapids, and Plymouth, Iowa before moving to Sumner in 1957. He remained at the Sumner Schools until retiring in 1990. John's death occurred at the University Hospitals in Iowa City on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. He was eighty-five years old and had been a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner. He was also a member of the Thomas E. Woods Post #223, American Legion where he served many years as adjutant, and was a board member and past president of the Iowa Vocational Agriculture Teacher's Association.

He is survived by eight daughters, Carol Feller of Bellevue, Karen (Frank) Smith of Bloomfield, New Mexico, Dianne Fuller of Springville, Joyce (Ron) Bast of Aplington, Sharon (Brett) Long of Racine, Wisconsin, Lynn Scott of Sumner, Ann (Steve) Cutshall of Allison, and Alice Scott of Sumner; nine grandchildren, Kerensa (Pat) Kettmann, Zebulon Strickler, Cyndel Bast, Amber and John Long, Alexander, Rubanna, Maryann, and John Cutshall; one great granddaughter, Bindi Kettmann; and three nieces, Tommie Nell Darst, Becca Jane Roden, and Leda Simms.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Anna, who died August 17, 1998; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Cutshall; his parents; two brothers,; five sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner with Rev. William Runaas, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery with military rites by Thomas E. Woods Post #223, American Legion of Sumner. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2012, at St John Lutheran Church and for one hour preceding services at the church on Saturday. Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association or the Iowa FFA Foundation.
