Scott, Joyce Annette

Joyce Annette Scott, age 81, of Danville, AR returned to the Lord on August 13, 2003. She was born on June 10, 1922 in Fayette, Iowa to Irma Keene Roadman and Earl Alan Roadman. She lived in Waterloo, IA until 1927 and moved to Mitchell, SD where her father was President of Dakota Wesleyan University. With her family, she moved to Sioux City, IA in 1936 where her father was President of Morningside College. She attended the University of Illinois in 1943-44 where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She graduated from Morningside College and then taught at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. In 1944 she married Gene Paxton Scott in New Bern, NC where he was stationed in the Marine Corp at Cherry Point. In January of 1945, they entertained their first-born son and continued the parenting path after returning to Sioux City with 6 more children to come. She taught at Morningside College from 1967 until 1972 where she was also a member of Business and Professional Woman in Sioux City. After purchasing a cattle ranch in 1974, they relocated to Danville, AR. In Danville she was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church. In addition to her love for her family, she enjoyed knitting, playing bridge with her friends and communicating with family and friends through email.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irma and Earl Roadman, two brothers, Keene and Dr. Charles Roadman and one sister, Earline Albaugh. Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Gene Paxton Scott; five sons, Gene Michael Scott (Mike) and Gregory (Greg) Ryan Scott both of San Diego CA, Rick Corsair Scott and William (Bill) Dell Scott both of Sioux City, IA and Shane Cameron Scott of Little Rock, AR; two daughters, Cynthia (Cyndy) Jogene Scott-Forsythe of Little Rock, AR and Maryanne (DeeDee) Olmstead of Linden, CA; two sisters, Katie Mills of Omaha, NE and Pauline Fishbeck of Manitowoc, WI; 13 grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and many loyal friends.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 21, 2003 at 2:00 p. m. at the Danville United Methodist Church in Danville, AR. Memorials may be made to Danville United Methodist Church, 202 E. Scott, Juanita (Adams)

Juanita Adams Scott was born June 27, 1924, to the late Raymond Lee Adams and Alma (Adams) Tolbert. Sister Scott was the eldest child born to this union. She professed a hope in Christ at an early age at New Zeal Baptist Church in Danville, Arkansas. She later became a member of the Danville Pentecostal Church where she served faithfully until her health failed. She remained a member until her death. Juanita was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and triend. She enjoyed baking for family and friends, listening to music, singing gospel songs and shopping, shopping, shopping and more shopping. She was an avid Razorback fan. She loved watching the Hogs play ball and she truly loved her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Sammie J. Scott, her parents, five brothers Lawrence Adams, Coy Adams, Raymond L. (Sonny) Adams, Jr., Ronald Adams, and Bill Adams, and one sister Jeanette Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Richard L. Scott (Cassandra) of West Palm Beach, Florida ; one brother Charles Adams (Ruby) of Proctor, Arkansas; five sisters, Elnora Jimmerson (Henry) and Georgia Cunningham (Lee) both of Kansas City, Missouri; Evelyn Brown of Clarksdale, Mississippi; Jimmie Lou Nichols of San Antonio, Texas; and Shirley Middleton of Ft. Worth, Texas and a sister in law, Louise Adams of Russellville, Arkansas; five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Danville First Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Friday, 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the church. Scott, Kitty Delois

Kitty Delois Scott was born October 12, 1907. Kitty died following a brief bout with diphtheria on July 1, 1909.

Graveside services were held July 2, 1909 in Harkey Valley Cemetery, Dardanelle, Arkansas. Kitty was the infant daughter of J.W. Scott and Oma L. Morgan Scott.

Scott, Lelous H

Ola- Funeral for Lelous H Scott, age 51, of Ola, who died Tuesday, will be at 10 a. m. Saturday at Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs. Burial will be in Center Chapel Cemetery in Wilburn. He was a carpenter and truck driver.

Scott, Lola George

Lola George Scott, age 95 of Dardanelle died Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at the Greenbrier Nursing Home. She was born February 14, 1910 at Mt. George. She was a homemaker and a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Maggie George and Mary Ann Lacy George; her husband, Louie Scott; two brothers, G. A. George and Leroy George.

Survivors include four nephews, Warren George of Greers Ferry, Jim George of North Little Rock, Al George of Dardanelle, Loyd George of Alabama; one niece, Anna Jo Crump of Idaho; one brother, O. W. George of Fairfield Bay; host of great nephews, nieces and great-great nephews and nieces.

Scott, Louie L.

Mr. Louie L. Scott, age 84, of Dardanelle, AR died Monday, March 10, 1997 at his home. He was a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ, WWII Army Veteran. He worked as a warden with the Cummins Prison Unit, he retired from Arkansas Valley Industries where he worked as a field representative and was a former member of the Yell County Mounted Patrol. He was born October 18, 1912 in the New Hope Community to the late Jim and Ola Crow Scott, D. V. M. He was also preceded in death by one brother, George Scott and one sister, Mable Scott Tillman.

Survivors include wife, Lola George Scott of the home; a brother, Lamar Scott of Bartlesville, OK; nephew, Gary Scott of Bartlesville, OK and a niece, Diane Fochee of California.

Scott, Loyd Edward

Loyd Edward Scott, age 50, of Plainview, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007. He was the son of the late Walter and Ida Phialmlee Scott.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Thurman, Lelous, Elbert, and Elmer Scott, sisters Rosa Lee Hooker, Kathleen Patterson, and Wilajean Kemp.

Survivors include three brothers, Arlen Scott of Briggsville, Shelby Scott of Rover, Donald Scott of Plainview; three sisters, Gladys Gibson of Victorville, CA, Lois Velasqueze of Arlanto, CA, and Hazel Scott of Dardanelle; and several nephews and nieces.

Mary Frances Scott, age 68 of Ola, died Monday, September 19, 2011 at her home. She was born March 25, 1943 at Sheridan, Arkansas to Willis and Normie Robinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Willis C. Robinson.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Charles Scott, of Ola; one son and daughter-in- law, Scotty and Angela Scott of Bryant; two daughters and one son-in-law, Rhonda and Mark Walker of Lowell and Veronica Lynn Scott of Russellville. Opal Jewell Scott, age 85 of Danville, died Thursday, March 31, 2005 at her home in Danville. She was born June 25, 1919 in Idabell, OK to the late Ellie and Azlee Taylor Madden. She was a homemaker and mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Jimmie Thomas Scott, brothers, Donnie Madden and Lonnie Madden.

Survivors are her daughters, Sheila Ireland of Casa, Beverly Carr of Danville; son, Kenneth Crowell of Havana; stepsons; James Scott of Lenoir City, TN, Lawrence Scott of Milan, TN, Dennis Scott of Smyrna, TN, Dwayne Scott of Mobile, AL; brothers, Vaughn Madden of MI, Mickey Madden of Monroe, LA, Dale Hoyt Madden of Des Arc; sister, Syble Scott of Danville; thirteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Scott; four brothers and one sister.

Scott, Ruby Nell

Ruby Nell Scott, age 91, passed peacefully from this life on January 19, 2003 at Ozark Riverview Manor, Ozark, MO. where she was a resident. She was born April 3, 1911 in Waltreak, AR. She was the daughter of Benjamin Hall Reynolds and Nancy Kathryn Rana. She attended school in rural Arkansas and married Cecil Anthony Scott in 1936. She was a housewife. She was baptized by Brother Ray at First Baptist Church, Carlsbad, NM where she was a member for many years, later placing her membership at Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Chickalah, AR.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1976; four brothers and seven sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Barry Scott and wife Patty of Ozark, MO, Jerry Scott and wife Sue of Modesto, CA; granddaughter, Laura Scott; grandsons, Chris, Craig, Kip, and Troy Scott; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Scott, Sue

Sue Scott, 78, of Sheridan, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at die Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton. A daughter of the late Lloyd Louis and Minnie Mae Lamb Mercer, she was born January 3, 1926, in Plainview, Arkansas. She was a Baptist.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Sonny Mercer and Bill Mercer.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Johnny Brady of Buckville, Arkansas; a brother, Jim Mercer of Katy, Texas; three sisters Ina Dixon and Hazel Faulconer, both of Ola; and Dorotha Young of Gary, Texas; four grandchildren Cynthia Malin of Vilonia; and Kim Brady and Kelly Brady, both of Benton; and Ronnie Brady of Malvern; and two great-grandchildren.

Thomas L. "Scotty" Scott, age 95, died recently at Fort Smith, AR. He was the son of George Scott and Lillian Vinnie. He and his late wife, Mary, lived in Danville, AR for several years.

Survivors include, a stepdaughter, Annie Smith of Havana; two nieces he had raised, Tina Owens and Angla Dunbar both of Fort Smith, AR; and a number of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Thomas R. Scott, age 77 of Booneville, AR died Sunday, March 23, 2008 at his home. He was born June 16, 1930 in Waveland, AR to the late Rev. Boyd and Berta Leila Harger Scott. He was a carpenter as well as an Army Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Wilba Lee Mitchell.

Travis Wayne Scott, age 89, of Ola died Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Chambers Memorial Hospital. He was born January 6, 1924 at Ola to the late James Roy and Estelle Doris Hayes Scott. He was a member of the Ola Assembly of God Church, VFW Post 222 of Ola, VFW Post 8525 of Plainview and a Navy Veteran of WWII.

Doris Margaret Scroggins, age 87, of Benton went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Saline Memorial Hospital. She was born February 16, 1929, in Waldo, Arkansas to the late John Edward & Dora Hill Wright. She was a member of the Mt. Scruggs, Alma

Mrs. Alma Scruggs, age 83, of Casa, AR died Tuesday, February 3, 1998 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Sidney and Myrtle Mae Nowlin and member of the Casa Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Hubert B. Scruggs and a half-sister, Jackie Lemons of Hot Springs.

Scruggs, Bertha (Mrs.)

Mrs. Bertha Scruggs, 45, and her son, Ronnie, 8, of Birta were both killed when struck by a car last Wednesday evening. The accident occurred one mile west of Birta at about 6 p.m. Officers said Mrs. Scruggs and her son had crossed the highway from their home to draw a bucket of water from a well, and in returning across the highway stepped into the path of a car driven by Mrs. Margaret Tucker Butler, 19, of Little Rock. Following an investigation of the accident, no charges were filed against Mrs. Butler.

Survivors include Mrs. Scruggs husband, Roland Scruggs; five sons, Harold Scruggs, twin of the boy killed, W. M. Elizabeth Jeanette Damon Scruggs, 49 of Ola, died Friday, December 29, 2006, at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock. Born September 19, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Leslie Thomas and Edith Louise Kester Damon, and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan Wayne Scruggs and a sister, Carolyn Damon Mason.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Tonya Tippit of Chickalah, Roy and Deina Tippit of Ola; stepchildren and their spouses, Ricky and Kim Scruggs of Russellville, Shawna and Tony Wroten of Charleston; three brothers, Thomas Damon, Billy Damon, Wayne Damon all of Ola; two sisters, Dannia Walls of Centerville, Vickie Baskin of Ola; eight grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, 2:00 p. m. at the Ola Assembly of God Church with Rev. Norman Chenowith officiating. Interment was at Sandlin Cemetery, Ola. Scruggs, Hubert Bill

Hubert Bill Scruggs, 92, a resident of Ola, died Friday, December 9, 2011, at Legacy Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation at Russellville. He was born November 23, 1919, at Baum, Oklahoma to Little Roland and Clarcy Wigley Scruggs. The family moved to Birta in 1932 and he worked on the farm during the depression to help support his family, making $9.00 for 5 1/2 days. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines where he was wounded. He returned home from the war on December 14, 1945, having earned three Bronze Stars. He was a member of the Casa Baptist Church, where he was dedicated and supportive. He loved his church and his church family. He was a lifetime member of Woodmen of the World and worked at Gear Products Inc. for 30 years as a machinist.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 56 years, Alma Josephine Southern Scruggs; five brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Adkins Scruggs of Ola; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Tate Scruggs of Kempt, Texas, Harold and Pamela Scruggs of Dardanelle and William Bill and Betty Scruggs of Tennessee; a host of nephews, nieces and friends, including Margaret's two sons and daughters-in-law and eight grandchildren.

The funeral was December 12, 2011, at the Casa Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Tanner officiating. Burial, with military honors, was in the Casa Cemetery under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Jason Rainey, Mark King, Bryan King, Tim Ridge, Joe Adkins and Justin Culwell. Scruggs, Leslie

Leslie Scruggs, 84, a resident of Casa, died Thursday, January 5, 2006, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. He was born August 19, 1921, at Waltreak, Arkansas to Little Roland and Clarcy Wiggley Scruggs. He was a former employee of the Corps. Of Engineers and was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Casa Church of Christ for over 40 years and enjoyed camping and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and four brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Bernice Hance Scruggs of Casa; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Dale Ridge of Little Rock, Judy and Bill King of Ola, and Rhonda and Tim Rainey of Casa; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Pam Scruggs of Dardanelle, Hubert and Margaret Scruggs of Ola, L. R. and Betty Scruggs of Tennessee, and Wayne and Tate Scruggs of Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Emma Lou and Monroe Alexander of California; nine grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 7, 2006, at the Casa Church of Christ with Bro. Bobby Fallen and Bro. Leslie Van Winkle officiating. Scruggs, Lonnie

Yell Countian Drowns Near Arkadelphia Lonnie Scruggs, 26, of Arkadelphia drowned Sunday afternoon in Old River about five miles northeast of Arkadelphia. Clark County sheriff Witt Stephenson said Scruggs and his brother, George, were working on an outboard motor on their boat when the accident occurred. He said the motor started, causing the boat to lurch forward and throwing both men overboard. George Scruggs was able to swim to safety. The rescue unit of the Arkadelphia Fire Department recovered the body at about 7 p.m. Sunday just across the Hot Spring County line. Scruggs was a native of Ola and was employed on the Bill R. Waddle plantation near here.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Alice May Helse Scruggs; his father, Roland L. Scruggs of Ola; six brothers, William Scruggs and Wayne Scruggs of Pine Bluff, Harold Scruggs of Ola, L. R . Scruggs of Clinton, Enn., Hubert Scruggs of Tulsa and Leslie Scruggs of Casa, and three sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Heinzelman of Pine Bluff, Mrs. Alma Ambright of Texas and Mrs. Emmalou Alexander of California.

Willard Duane (Dimp) Scruggs, age 78, of Splendora, TX, passed away, December 2, 1997 after a lengthy illness. He was born December 20, 1918 to William F. and Effie Gay Scruggs at Ponca City, OK. His mother passed away and he was brought to Birta, Yell Co. when he was six months old and raised by his grandparents, John and Mary E. Marcum. He honorably served in World War II. He was a retired pipe fitter and a 45 year member of the Pipe Fitters Union 211.

Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Jaunita Scruggs; two daughters, Billie Lee McDonald and JoAnn White of Spring, TX; one brother, Billy Joe Scruggs of Shawnee, OK; one sister, Vonda Stephens of Broomfield, CA; six grandchildren, Glenn Stanley, Jamie Poulson, Lauren Schultz, Karen McDonald, Amber White Chance and Richard D. White; eight great grandchildren and numerous friends.

Funeral was December 5, 1997 at Woodforest Funeral Home by Rev. Odius McMillian.

Graveside memorial with Military Honors under the auspices of the American Legion Post 521, Memorial Team, Pasadena, TX was conducted. Interment was in San Jacinto Memorial Park. Seagraves, Jewelean

Jewelean Seagraves, age 81 of Russellville, died Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Johnson County Regional Medical Center. She was born December 7, 1927 at Chickalah to the late Lonnie and Edith Utley Adkison. She was a former member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Dardanelle and current member of the Fair Park Baptist Church in Russellville.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Seagraves; brother, Everett Adkison; sisters, Margarette Holman and Marie Norris.

Survivors include her daughter, Gladys Brown of Russellville; two brothers, Loyd Adkison of Dardanelle, Bobby Gene Adkison of Russellville; grandson, Jason L. Brown of Benton; granddaughter, Laura Treadwell of Russellville; step-grandson, Bobby J. Brown of Atkins; three great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, William Norris of Dardanelle.

Searcy, James Lloyd

James Lloyd Searcy, age 83, went home to be with our Lord Friday, January 27, 2006. He passed peacefully at the VA Hospital in Tucson, AZ with his wife and daughter by his side. James was born November 3, 1922 in Santa Rosa, MO to Carl L. and Opal Fern Eulinger Searcy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Verna Cameron and Wilma (infant), and a brother, Covel Denver Searcy.

He was a U. S. Navy Veteran who achieved the rank of BM2 while serving aboard the U. S. S. Suwanne during the Pacific Campaign. After honorably serving, he returned to Missouri and married Anita Pearl Adney on April 27, 1946 in Overland Park, Kansas. Within two years, he would become the father of two daughters. He moved his family from Kansas City, MO to Ard, Arkansas. He became a Christian and was baptized in a pond behind the Ard Church of Christ at this time. He moved his family to Dardanelle shortly after where he worked in his father-in-laws auto garage. After the garage was converted to a skating rink, He became a USDA Poultry Inspector at the Tyson Chicken Plant where he would eventually retire after 20 years. He was an active member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ and VFW Post 3141. He volunteered for the local Meals on Wheels Program and was a longtime resident of Dardanelle. As his wife Anita says, "He was a good provider and a good, Faithful Christian.. He took pride in all that he did, spent many summers caring for his granddaughters, wonderful memories of Arkansas that will last a lifetime, and loved anything sweet, especially if it was any flavor of ice cream or homemade jam.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Anita Pearl Adney Searcy; brother Marvin Searcy of Pattonsburg, MO; three daughters, Janis Diane Searcy, Janelle Leann Searcy Menick, Janita Rexiene Searcy Hastings, all of Tucson, AZ; four granddaughters and four great grandsons.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 4, 2006, at the Dardanelle Church of Christ with Bro. Ralph Weinhold officiating. Interment will be in Brearley Cemetery with Military Honors by Boyce Woods VFW Post 3141. Pallbearers were William Reed, Jack Stephens, Johnny Joe Walker, Tommy Baker, Tommy Crow, and Clyde McCoy. Honorary pallbearers were Shorty Stewart and members of the Boyce Woods VFW Post 3141. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be made to the Boyce Woods VFW Post 3141, 118 N.
