Ryan, Reba Booher

Reba Booher Ryan, age 83, of Plainview, AR died Monday, August 5, 1996 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born in Wing, Arkansas September 13, 1912, daughter of the late Homer and Maggie Grassland Gillum. She was a retired nursing assistant, and had worked for many years at the Yell County Nursing home in Ola. She was a member of the Plainview First Baptist Church. She was the widow of Orville Booher and Johnny Ryan.

Survivors include one brother, Udell Gillum of Monticello; one sister, Juanita Turner of Barling and several nieces and nephews.

Ryan, Ruby Nell

Ruby Nell Ryan, 77, of North Little Rock, formerly of Danville, died, March 8, 2001 in the Baptist Memorial Hospital in North Little Rock. She was the daughter of the late George B. and Ada Mae Bennett Fowler of Waltreak. She retired as a keypunch operator for the State of Arkansas Treasury Department. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Little Rock and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ryan (1971); a daughter, Beverly Straub and two brothers, Raymond and Bill Fowler.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Juanita Ryan of North Little Rock; two grandchildren, Natasha Straub of Jonesboro and Michelle Straub of Scottsdale, Arizona; a brother, Robert Fowler of Kingston; a sister, Retta and husband, Richard Woolfolk of Nixa, Mo.; sister-in-law, Lucile Fowler of Little Rock and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were at Monday at Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock with Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating. Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Ryan, Vivian Joan

Vivian Joan Ryan, age 63, of Little Rock, AR passed away July 8, 2006 at Baptist Health Medical Center after a 17-year courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 5, 1942 at Blue Mountain, AR to George C. and Mildred (Loyd Ryan. She graduated from Magazine High School and attended Arkansas Tech at Russellville. She was a member of the Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, a member and past Worthy Matron of Levy Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Beta Lambda Sorority.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, George Carroll Ryan and a niece, Ryan D. Chadwick.

She is survived by Ray Russell of Little Rock, AR; two sisters, Gene (Ryan) and Elmo Hurst of Cotter, AR and Grace (Ryan and Ted Calva of Blue Mountain, AR; a great nephew and a host of cousins, classmates and friends.

Funeral service was July 11 at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church in Little Rock, officiated by Rev. Lynn W. Lindsey and Dr. Jeffrey B. Hampton. Burial will be today, Wednesday, July 12 at 1 p. m. at Blue Mountain Cemetery, Blue Mountain, AR. Ryander, Maggie

Maggie Ryander, 10, daughter of Delmar and Nellie Rynder (nee Nellie Dickey) died in her home in Hot Springs June 2, was buried June 4 at Mountain Grove, Magazine Mountain. The services were conducted using a phonograph record by Judge Rutherford, head of their church.

Sachse, Gladys Margetta

Gladys Margetta Sachse died November 13, 2009, at the grand age of 91 at Salem Place Nursing Home in Conway. She was born July 21, 1918, in Shawnee, Okla., to Erich and Willie Sachse.

She is survived by her second cousins, William C. Williams of San Francisco, Calif.; Gary L. Williams of Springdale; Linda Jarvis and Gail Phillips, both of Longview, Texas. Gladys graduated from Shawnee High School and was a member of the honor society. She graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College (now the University of Central Arkansas) in 1939. Gladys taught English and history at various high schools in the area unitl July 1, 1943, when she became the very first librarian of the Yell County Library. During the summers between 1943 and 1946, she was granted "leave of absence" so she could attend Louisiana State University to study library science. She graduated with a degree in the summer of 1946. Gladys left the Yell County Library in 1946 and worked for one year at the Library Commission in Little Rock until July 1, 1948, when she began teaching at Arkansas State Teachers College, where she taught library science. While at ASTC, Gladys also became a published author and was instrumental in the development of the Charlie May Simon Children's Book Award. In addition to teaching at ASTC, she also taught in the graduate library school at the University of Oklahoma. Among awards that she received were election to membership in Beta Phi Mu, a national honor society in library science; the Distinguished Service Award from the Arkansas Library Association; and the President's Achievement Award from ASTC. Gladys served a term as president of the Arkansas Library Association, which she joined and has been a member of since 1943. Glady belonged to the First Presbyterian Church of Dardanelle, where she served as an elder and as clerk of the session.

Mrs. Agnes Morris Sadler, age 79, of El Paso, Texas, wife of Sylvan Sadler a former resident of Yell County died Sunday, March 10, 1985 at El Paso. She was born March 13, 1905 in the Indian Territory in Oklahoma. She was a retired secretary.

Survivors also include a niece, Dorothy Lawson of Oak Ridge, Tenn.

Bennye Linzy Sadler passed away on February 18, 2012. She was born February 9, 1922 in Plainview, AR to Dr. Charles B. Linzy and Nova Blackwell Linzy.

She is survived by her son, Robert Stephen Sadler and wife, Bonnie Marson of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Nancy Carolyn Sadler; grandchildren, Linzy F. Elliot and Callie M. Dennis of Brooklyn, NY; great granddaughter, Zeah Marie Dennis also of Brooklyn, NY; cousins, Howard and Patricia Patterson of North Little Rock, Frances Vandervort of Lake Village, AR, Sam and Barbara Cannon of Virginia and great-niece, Dr. Stephanie Rhodes. She was the widow of Robert Granville Sadler, who passed away in 1978.

M. Frank Sadler, 78, a native of Yell County, died at his home in Carlsbad, N. Mex. on April 7, 1954. He had been in ill health for the past few months. Sadler, a retired farmer, was active in Democratic Party politics here and in Carlsbad for years. He moved to Carlsbad from Yell County in 1923.

Sain, Johnny F.

Johnny F. Sain, age 89, died Tuesday, November 7, 2006. A native of Belleville, he was a retired major league baseball pitcher and pitching coach. He was a three-time baseball All-star who teamed with Warren Spahn to make up one of the most powerful pitching tandems to ever play the game. He made his major league debut in 1942, then set aside his love for baseball from 1943-45 to serve his country in World War II. Then it was back to the pitching mound were Sain led the Boston Braves to his first World Series in 1948, where they lost to Cleveland. But later he returned to the World Series leading the New York Yankees for three straight titles from 195153.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Agnes Murphy.

Survivors are beloved wife, Mary Ann Zaremba Sain; children, John, Sharyl, Ronda and Randy Sain; step-son, Richard Zaremba; brother-in-law, John Mazetis; 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 10-12 Noon, Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at the Western Yell County Church of Christ in Havana. Funeral services will follow at Noon followed by burial at Havana Cemetery. Gary Lee Sales, age 59, of Bauxite, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. Born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, on April 16, 1951, he was the son of Alvin C. Sales and the late Pauline (Tackett) Sales. He was employed by Union Pacific Railroad as a machinist, and he was a veteran of the United States Marines.

He is survived by, one son, Philip Wayne Carter of Dardenelle; one daughter, Kortney Danielle Smith of Plainview; his father, Alvin C. Sales of Bauxite; two brothers, Larry and David Sales, both of Bauxite; one sister, Brenda Darter of Centerville; and six grandchildren, Allie Sales, Kaleigh Carter, Lucas Carter, Autumn Smith, Summer Carter, and Aiden Smith. He is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Graveside service will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday at Dacus Cemetery with Brother John McCourt officiating. Survivors include her husband Alfonso Sanchez in El Salvador; mother, Eusebia Mejia of El Salvador; daughter, Silvia Sanchez of Danville; brothers, Benjamin Chavez of Danville and Francisco Chavez of El Salvador; sisters, Rosa Chavez of Danville, Bacilia Chavez of El Salvador; grandchildren, Luis and Silva Leiva of Danville.

Sanders, Anna Lou Pool

Anna Lou Pool Sanders, 81, of Cathedral City, CA, died September 14, 2003, in Cathedral City. She was born August 27, 1922, to Richard Pool and Mayme Page in Corinth, Ark. She married Emmett O. Sanders on June 8, 1940, in Danville, Ark. She was a retired librarian from the Palo Verde Valley Public Library in Blythe, CA and a member of the Shadow Mountain Gem and Mineral Club in Cathedral City, CA.

She is survived by her husband, Emmett of Cathedral City; her daughter, Gwen Edelman of San Diego; two sons, Wayne of Norm Carolina and David of New Mexico; her sister, Phyllis Fair of New Mexico; her brother, G. W. Pool of Monterey Park; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A memorial service was held at sunrise on September 25 at Catlin Ranch in Sky Valley, CA. Wiefels & Son Funeral Directors of Palm Springs, CA are in charge of arrangements. Billy G. Sanders, age 65, of Dover, AR died Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at his home. He was born August 25, 1940 at Dover to the late Clinton A. and Lillie Mae Cloud Sanders. He was a retired Millwright and a Navy Veteran.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Boyce Ray, Harley Joe and Danny Lynn Sanders.

Sanders, Darlene (Wester)

A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Darline's strong spirit and positive attitude allowed her to fight a long and courageous battle with brain cancer and COPD. On April 5, 2009, God ascended and took his angel home. Born in Royse City, Texas in 1944, Darline was a long time resident of Mesquite, Texas. Darline had many interest but especially loved to work in her yard and garden. Darline devoted her professional career to Sears and Roebuck. She started her career in Terrell, Texas and retired from Sears and Roebuck in Dallas after 27 years of service.

Darline is preceded in death by her daughter, Toni Raline Everett, parents Dean and Opal Wester, and brother Dewayne Wester.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 32 years Lynn Sanders. She also leaves her daughter, Lisa Dodd and husband Darren. In addition, she leaves her grandsons Dustin and Clayton Everett, Dillion Dodd and her sister Deanna Simmons. She will also be greatly missed by numerous nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law Lland Adley and her husband Ronny as well as brothers in law Dale Wells and wife Linda, Wayne Sanders and wife Debra and Ricky Sanders. She will forever be in our hearts. Family gathering will be Wednesday April 8, 2009 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Celebration of Her Life Services 2:00 pm Thursday April 9, 2009 Anderson-Clayton Bros.

Mrs. Dora Sanders, age 87, of Mitchell Nursing Home of Danville, died Wednesday, May 10 in the Yell County Hospital in Danville. Mrs. Sanders was a native of Gravelly, a Baptist and a retired housewife.

Survivors are two stepsons, L.E. and Racil Sanders of Waldron, AR; three step-daughters, Mrs. Virgil Martin and Mrs. Guy Scarbrough of Waldron and Mrs. Ray Nichols of Mansfield, AR.

Hazel Belle Sanders, age 89, of Plainview, AR died Friday, November 23, 1990 at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville. She was a native of Perry County, widow of the late George Lee Sanders, daughter of the late Tom and Maggie Anderson Bittle and a member of the Plainview First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Erma Dell Tidwell of Plainview; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and seven nephews.

Mr. James "Jim" H. Sanders, age 56, of Dardanelle, AR died Monday, October 20, 1997 at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was a U. S. Army Veteran, member and deacon of the Calvary Baptist Church and employed by Firestone of Russellville, member of the Bright Star Lodge 246, past president of the Jaycees and a 32nd degree Mason. He was born June 28, 1941 to the late Cecil Sanders and Audrey Riley Emberton in Russellville, AR. He was also preceded in death by a brother, David Lee Sanders and sister, Mary Ann Sanders.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia A. Mitchell Sanders of Dardanelle; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Linda and Keith and Kristy Sanders all of Dardanelle; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbie and Rev. Todd Davis of Dardanelle; three brothers, J. W. Sanders of Tulsa, OK and Bill and Cecil Sanders of Ft. Worth, TX; two sisters, Joyce Sanders and Elizabeth Eubanks of Ft. Worth, TX; also included are seven grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was October 24, 1997 at the Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Todd Davis and Rev. Mark Lashley. Interment was in the Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville. Luster Cecil Sanders, age 66, of Danville, died Thursday, August 25, at the VA Hospital in Little Rock. He was a native of the Dutch Creek Community, a veteran of WWII and the son of Walter Sanders and the late Minnie Poppy Sanders.

Sanders, Mary Ethel Nanny

Mary Ethel Sanders Nanny, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Monday, March 8, 1999 in Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. She was born March 5, 1910 at Clifty, TN to the late Ervin Todd and Sylvia Peters Todd Alderson. She was co-founder, along with her husband, of Yell County Telephone Company of Danville and active in the Telephone Industry since 1939. She and her husband were members of the Arkansas Independent Telephone Hall of Fame, having been the first couple inducted into the organization. She had been active in the community through many local organizations, including the Danville B&PW club, Danville School PTA and the Eastern Star, and was a member of the Danville First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Omer Sanders, her stepfather Dee Alderson and two brothers, Sherman Todd and Ervin Todd, Jr.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Shirley Sanders of Danville; a daughter, Paula Steel of Dallas, TX; a sister, Geraldine Park of Sperry, OK; a brother, J. D. Alderson of California; four grandchildren, Jeananne Hawking of No. Little Rock, AR. Paul Todd Sanders Jr. and Kelli Powers both of Danville, AR. and Tom Cooper of Pauls Valley, OK; seven adoring great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and devoted friends.

Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, March 10 at 3:00 p. m. at the Danville First Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Walker officiating. Burial will be in Earl Ladd Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville, AR. Sanders, Nicholas Thomas

Nicholas Thomas Sanders, of Russellville, AR, went to heaven Saturday, September 18, 2010 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, AR. The son of Kelsey Sanders and Toby Romero, he was born May 3, 2010 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He loved his fingers and thumbs, soft music, and taking baths with his rubber duck. He captured the hearts of everyone who saw him. Nicholas gave the gift of life to another infant when he passed away.

He was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Helen Andrey; and great grandfathers, Jerry D. Prochazka and Sam Andrey.

Family members left to cherish his memory are his mother, Kelsey Sanders of Russellville; twin brother, Jonathan Sanders of Russellville; father, Toby Romero of Russellville; sister, Aleah Sanders of Russellville; maternal grandmother, Joanne Prochazka of Russellville; maternal grandfather Randy Sanders of Dolph, AR.; maternal great grandmother, Pat Sanders of Mt. Home; paternal grandparents, aunt, Leanne Liggett of Russellville; two uncles, Sean Liggett of Mulberry, Ryan Sanders of Russellville; four cousins, Zoe, Caitie, Bentleigh, Paxton.

Services will be Wednesday, April 19, 2000, 2:00 p. m. Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle, AR with Rev. Freddie Weaver officiating. Interment will be in Graves Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle, AR. Pallbearers will be, Harold Sanders, Gary Don Sanders, Jerry W. Sanders, Gary Lynn Sanders, Jerry L.
