Ramey, Estella

Estella Ramey, age 79 of Russellville, AR died Thursday, June 3, 1999 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born February 29, 1920 at Hector, AR to Arnold and Erma Williamson Patton, widow of Thurman L. Ramey and a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Odell Patton and Lionell Patton.

Survivors include two brothers, R. L. Patton of Cabot and Norman Patton of Hector; two sisters, Wanda Wisdom of Hector and Virginia Lawrence of California; several nieces and nephews.

Ramey, Floyd (Doc)

Floyd (Doc) Ramey, age 71, of Russellville, AR died Thursday, January 27, 2000 at Saint Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. He was a son of the late Ned and Ha Ramey, a retired U. S. Army Veteran and a member of Saint John's Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ramey.

He is survived by, two daughters and son-in-law, Tanya Ramey of Russellville, AR and Vickie and Dennis Teel of Hot Springs Village, AR; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Elva and Ralph Pay and Anna M. and Bill Bryant, all of North Little Rock, AR and Willie Patton of Russellville, AR; one granddaughter, April Grogan of; Memphis, TN; a great grandson, Michael Grogan VI of Memphis, TN and several nieces and nephews.

Ramey, Harold

Mr. Harold Ramey, age 80, of Danville, AR passed away Wednesday, February 12, 1997 at Mitchell Nursing Home in Danville. He was born in Havana, AR June 8, 1916 son of the late Ned and Ila Mott Ramey. He was a retired mechanic and farmer and member of the Havana Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Loeva Moudy Ramey and a brother, Carl Ramey.

Survivors include a brother, Floyd Ramey of Russellville; three sisters, Willie Patton of Russellville, Anna M. Bryant and Elva Pay both of North Little Rock; also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held February 15, 1997 at the Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel in Danville with Rev. James Ragsdale officiating. Burial was in the Havana Cemetery. Mrs. Ila Ramey, aged 70, of Havana died in her home Sunday. She is a member of the Church of God.

Jeremiah "Jay" Ramey, age 29 of Dardanelle, died Monday, March 28, 2005. He was born October 31, 1975 at Dardanelle to Thurman and Lamona Kay Stewart Ramey.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Thurman Sr. and Inis Ramey, James "Dude" and Ann Hurst and Betty Stewart.

Survivors include his parents, Thurman "Tim" and Lamona K. Ramey; brothers, Stewart Richey and daughter, Baylie Richey of Dardanelle, Clinton McVay and children, Kyler and Cade McVay of Sweetwater, TX; sister, Kylia McCurrie and husband, Carmon and their children, Jacey Neagles, Maison and Jake McCurrie, all of Russellville; grandparents, John and Nina Stewart of Dardanelle; beloved cousin, Bruce and Buffy Bowman and children, Christina, Tiffany and Ashley Bowman and Ryan Gault; aunts and uncles, Frank "Grandpa" and Linda Sapp, Dee and Mitchell Sapp of Dardanelle, Sam and Laquita Ramey, Tim and Jason Ramey, Gary and Lou Ann Smith all of Lamar; very, very special friends, Melinda, Courtney and Howard Steer and many, many friends.

Ramey, Laquita Joyce

Laquita Joyce Ramey, age 57, of Dardanelle, AR died Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born February 22, 1949 in Dardanelle, AR to the late George and Melba Estell Adams Lott. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the First Baptist Church in Dardanelle, AR.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Sam Ramey; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Stephanie Ramey of Dardanelle, AR and Jason and Fay Ramey of Baton Rouge, LA; a brother and sister-in-law Charles and Peggy Lott of Dardanelle, AR; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel and Phillip Latta of Atkins, AR and Shirley and Jim Heflin of Delaware, AR and three grandchildren.

Service was November 25, 2006 at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle, AR with Rev. Milton Cowling officiating. Burial was in Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle, AR. Ramey, Lena

Lena Ramey, age 90 of Danville, died Thursday, July 15, 2004 at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville. She was born in Alpine, Arkansas Perry County) on October 12, 1913 daughter of the late James A. and Maudie S. Black Bull. She retired after 30 years of service with Mitchell's Nursing Home, as a nurse's aide. She was an accomplished pianist, playing many years for the enjoyment of the senior citizens at the Danville Community Center. She was also a member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Everett and Clyde Bull, her sister, Bertha Burrows, an infant brother, Opal Bull and an infant sister, Sue Bull.

Survivors include her children, Carrol and Florene Ramey, Bobby and Lina Ramey, Frances and Bobby Burrows, all of Danville; sister, Ruby Duggar, of Plainview; a brother, Raymond Bull, of Amarillo, Texas; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, three step grandchildren, and nine step great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 17, 2004 at the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Danville with Reverend Earl Stapleton officiating. Burial was in Russell Cemetery in Belleville, Arkansas. Mildred Eloise Barnett Ramey, age 79, of Danville, AR passed away Monday, May 31, 2010 at Chambers Hospital. She was born August 12, 1930 in Danville to the late Jesse Lee and Vera Viola May Fowler Bice. She was a member of the Chalybeate Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Loyd Barnett; daughter, Mildred Thomlinson and grandchildren, twins Lori Ann and Bradley Thomlinson and Mark Barnett.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Raymond Barnett of Ola, Dickey and Sharon Barnett of Dover, Margaret Barnett of Virginia and Terry and Delaine Barnett of NM; sister Eula Rose; brothers, Loyd, Bill and Rickey Bice; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. ATKINS - William Cleason Ramey, age 79, of Atkins, formerly of Danville, died Friday, May 30, 1986 at St. Mary's Hospital at Russellville. He was a native of Yell County, son of the late Bob and Sarah Oxblood Ramey, a retired construction worker and farmer, and a Baptist.

Rana, Logan

Logan Rana always loved to travel, and on February 23, 2010, he departed this earth on his last journey. He went to be with his Lord in Heaven and to be reunited with his family and friends who have gone before him. Logan was born January 1, 1928, to Bennye Grace Gladden and Logue Rana in Bluffton, Yell County, Ark. As a babe in arms, his family moved to Desha County, Ark., where his dad managed farms on a large plantation. He grew up in Gould and Dumas, Ark., where he met his wife, Frances. They were married in 1947. Logan followed in his father's footsteps. He enjoyed farming and was a good and capable farmer. Logan never met anyone he did not like. He looked for the good qualities in every new friend he met. He leaves a lot of good friends behind.

Logan is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances, and his son, Logan Thomas (Thom) Rana. He is also survived by two grandsons, Brandon and Justin, and three great-grandchildren, Kristian, Noah and Reagan.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Friday, February 26, 2010, at Calvary Chapel in Deming. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society. Randall, Charles Lee

With great sadness the family of Chuck (Hoover) Randall announce his passing on June 25 after a brief illness. Chuck enjoyed a long career in marketing in the asphalt pavement industry. He represented the Newhall Refinery from 1965 to 1989, then Fletcher Oil from 1989 to 1992 and finished his career with San Joaquin Refinery from 1992 until retirement in December, 2011. He was born in Danville, Arkansas on March 2, 1934. His family moved to California in the early 1940s. Chuck served his country for 11 years in the US Air Force. He married Nadine Gunn in 1955 and they were married 29 years until her passing.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 27 years Edith, sons Ron (Susie) Randall and Bill Randall. Step sons Eric (April) Hutchins, Neal (Heather) Hutchins and step daughter Janet (Rod) Schrock. Brother David Randall, 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Lorene Randall, brothers Bob, Carl, Billy Randall and sister Louise Gunn. He was a member of the Asphalt Paving Association of California and the Piru Petroleum Club. Chuck loved golf and he was a member of the Mt. View Golf Club. He was proud to have made three holes in one, the last one at Mt. View just a few months before his passing.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 6 at 11 a.m. at Bardsdale Cemetary, 1698 S. Sespe St., Fillmore. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to a charity of your choice. Randall, D. P.

D.P. Randall, age 92 years, 2 months, and 16 days, died at his home near Danville, April 19 at about 3 o'clock a.m. Mr. Randall was born in the state of Ohio, February 3, 1847 to Miss Julia Gains. Of this union seven children were born, and six of them survive him. They are J.J. Randall, Sam Rock, Oklahoma; Henry Randall, Alma, Arkansas; Pete Randall, Danville; Mrs. Clara Humphrey, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Kate Vestil, Danville; and Mrs. Hattie Brantley, Humphrey, Arkansas. Mr. Randall had resided in this county some twenty-seven years.

Mr. Elbert Howard Randall, age 88, of Fourche Junction, AR died Saturday, March 21, 1998 at his home. He was born August 7, 1909 in Missouri to the late Thomas and Etta Stove Randall. He was retired from the U. S. Forest Service.

Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law, Joann and Bill Mahan of Plainview, AR; two brothers, Herbert Randall of Plainview, AR and Jack Randall of Ozark, AR; two grandsons, Michael and David Mahan of Plainview, AR and two great-grandchildren.

Randell, Shirley Sue (Derrick)

Shirley Sue Randell, age 69, died Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at her home in Mustang. She was born May 28, 1942 in Belleville, AR to Henry and Lillian (Brand) Derrick and grew up in Belleville. She was a 1960 graduate of Belleville High School and had a degree in mathematics from Arkansas Tech University. She played basketball both in high school and college. She taught middle school math for two years in Arkansas. She had been a resident of Mustang since 1980 and had worked many years in the nursery at the Bridge Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Allen.

Survivors include three sons, Johnny, James H. and Steve Randell; two daughters, Karen Randell and Linda Chastain; four grandchildren, Lillie, Lewis, Landon, Lindsay and one sister, Mary Lou Chaney.

Erma Scott Rankin, age 98, of Van Buren, AR, formerly of Russellville, AR died Friday, May 6, 2005 at Beverly Health Care in Van Buren. She was a daughter of the late Andrew Scott and Mary Magdalene Lemley Richardson. She was born December 9, 1906 in the Buttermilk Community near Appleton, AR. She was a former nurses' aide at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville and served as Pope County Sheriff during 1961 through 1962 to fill her husband's unexpired term after his death. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church She was the widow of Bob Ira Rankin and was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Scott Rankin.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Linda Rankin of Van Buren, AR; four grandchildren, Becky Pledger of Danville, AR, Tony Rankin of Russellville, AR, Karen Murphy of Fort Smith and Sarah Morton of Van Buren; a niece; four great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was Tuesday at the Shinn Chapel by Rev. Hershel McClurkin and Rev. Ed Warren. Burial was in Pisgah Cemetery by Shinn Funeral Service. Cecil Monroe Raper, age 79, of Briggsville, died Tuesday morning, January 21, 1975 at the Yell County Hospital in Danville. He was a native of Bluffton, a retired farmer, the son of the late Will and Lee Sinclair Raper. Mr. Raper was a member of the Methodist Church, a Mason, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Oral Simmon Raper; three sons, Laudell Raper and Charles Lee Raper both of Oklahoma City and Andrew Raper of Blytheville; two daughters, Mrs. N. F. Marshall of Malvern and Mrs. J. M. Woodall of Blytheville; two brothers, Herbert Raper of Mississippi and Owen Raper of Dumas; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Lazenby and Mrs. Lorine James both of Dumas and Mrs. Ed James of Plainview; 10 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Briggsville Methodist Church Thursday morning at 10 o'clock with interment in the Briggsville Cemetery. Woodall of Conway, AR; brother, Laudell Raper of Oklahoma City, OK; mother-in-law, Blanche Stinnett of Lewisville; sisters-in-law, Martha Harp, Glenda Frank and Shirley Raper and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Nicki Raper on December 2, 2005 and by a brother Charles Raper.

Ratliff, James Craig

James Craig Ratliff passed away on December 21, 2002, at his home in Little Rock following a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Little Rock on October 5, 1955, and reared in Topeka, Kansas. Mr. Ratliff was employed as Facilities Maintenance Coordinator and Supervisor of Plant Operations by the University or Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service. He attended Washburn University in Topeka and Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. He held numerous licenses and certifications. For many years, Mr. Ratliff raised poultry, cattle and timber on his beloved Yell County farm. After relocating to Little Rock, he continued to spend his weekends and holidays on the farm and had hoped to retire there. He was a self-taught naturalist and a NASCAR fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Ella Evans Ratliff, and by a special uncle and aunt, Afton and Ann Ratliff. Mr. Ratliff is survived by his niece and nephew, Hannah and Jonathan Carr; his sister, Leslie Ratliff Carr, and her husband Steven, of Raleigh, North Carolina. He is also survived by his special friend and companion, Linda Betts of Little Rock. He will also be missed by numerous friends, most especially Dudie Michaels, and co-workers.

A memorial service for Mr. Ratliff was held at Faith United Church of Christ, University Avenue and 3 Lake Shore Drive, in Little Rock, on Saturday, December 28, at 2:00 p. m.
