Neumeier, Maryann

MaryAnn Neumeier age 74 of Dardanelle died Monday, March 20, 2006 at Baptist Medical Center. She was born December 25, 1931 at Dardanelle to the late Van F. and Anna Wesley Brabec. She was a member of St. Augustines Catholic Church, University of Arkansas Alumni Association, the River Valley Arts and Crafts Club and a lifetime member of the Russellville Band Boosters Club.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Norman P. Neumeier; son and daughter-in-law, John P. and Cindy Neumeier of Maumelle; daughter and son-in-law, Paula A. and Danny L. Havner of Dardanelle; two grandchildren, Ashley N. Neumeier and Jordan P. Neumeier, both of Maumelle. Rosary was held Wednesday at the Chapel. Mass was held Thursday at St. Augustines Catholic Church in Dardanelle with Father Vincent Flusche officiating. Interment was in Brearley Cemetery. Pallbearers were; Don Neumeier, Ron Neumeier, Raymond Neumeier, Greg Neumeier, James Nehus, and Gary Rainwater. 1955 - 2015 William (Buddy) New, with his loving family by his side, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 15, 2015.

He was born June 2, 1955 in Danville, Arkansas to the late Jack and Esther New, also was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Barbara K. Roberts and Gerald Roberts.

He is survived by his loving wife, Amy New; three sisters, Susie (Cecil) Bishop of Hot Springs, AR, Shirley (Jim) McConnell of Carter Cove/Plainview, AR, Becky Ellis of Hot Springs, AR; one brother, John (Billie) New of Jacksonville, AR; five daughters, Casandra New and Jessica New both of Bismarck, AR, Sara Blackmon of Hot Springs, AR, Emily New of Donaldson, AR. and Tracy Miller of Hot Springs, AR.; two sons, Christopher New of Flagstaff, Arizona, Buddy Jack New of Malvern, AR.; seven grandchildren, Alexis Holden of Bismarck, AR., Scarlet New of Donaldson, AR., Lucas New and Dillion New both of Malvern, AR; Christopher Knotts of Grafton, West Virginia, Lucious New and Tyler New both of Benton, AR. Buddy grew up in Plainview, Arkansas and graduating from high school, joined the National Guard where he served for two years. He moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas and later to Donaldson, Arkansas after his marriage to Amy. Buddy was a wonderful brother, father and husband. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, loved camping and being in the outdoors. Buddy had many nieces, nephews and friends that loved him. He is going to be missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Newell, Travis James

Infant Travis James Newell died July 12, 1998. He was the son of Ralph and Elodia Newell of Hector, AR.

Survivors besides his mother and father are two sisters, Veronica Newell and Stephanie Newell; two brothers, David Newell and Michael Newell all of Hector; grandparents, Johnnie McElroy of Dardanelle, AR, Ida Rich of Hector, AR and Ramiro and Ofelia Rodriguez of Michigan.

Newman, Bill

Bill Newman passed away at the Army Navy Hospital August 24, 1950 at the age of 54.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Mrs. Nettie Newman, six children and four great grandchildren, one brother and two sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Newman were formerly of Plainview. She is a daughter of Mrs. Nora Ellis of Plainview.

Newman, Carroll Alexander

Carroll Alexander Newman, age 73, of Blue Mountain died Saturday, February 9, 1985, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was a retired factory worker and a member of Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lucy Hall Newman; two sons, Maurice Newman of Greenwood and Patrick Newman of the home; three daughters, Evelyn Newman of the home, Louise Chamberlain of Etna and Patsy Ann Roark of Blue Mountain; two brothers, Claude and Buddy Newman of Blue Mountain; a sister, Mrs. Cleo Harwell of Blue Mountain, and seven grandchildren.

Newnam, Bobby Sue Mosley Davis

Bobby Sue Mosley Davis Newnam, age 72, of Danville, AR died Thursday, June 14, 2007. She was born December 16, 1934 in Belleville, AR, the daughter of the late S. J. and Luna Mae Whitecotton Mosley. She was a retired beautician and a member of the Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Quinton Yancy and Harvey Newnam and the father of her children, Raymond "Frog" Davis; a brother, John Ed Mosley and sisters, Nettie Hancock, Hazel Newnam, Icy Mosley and Hazel Wandalee Mosley.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Judy Davis of Russellville, AR; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Darrel Hayden of Sheridan, AR and Linda and Greg Latham of Gravelly, AR; brother and sister-in-law, James and Nell Mosley of Newnan, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian and Lawrence Newnam of Modesto, CA, Emma Philippi of Tennessee and Louis and Danny Farrow of Belleville, AR; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Newnam, Hazel Mosley

Hazel Mosley Newnam, age 73, of Modesto, CA died Tuesday at her home. She was a native of Yell County, AR. She lived in Modesto 53 years. She was a homemaker and had been a beautician. She was a volunteer for the Salvation Army every Christmas. She belonged to the Emblem Club and was a member of the Orangeburg Avenue Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Harvey C. Newnam of Modesto; children, Patricia Nordell and Samuel H. Newnam both of Modesto; brother, James Mosley of Newnam, GA; sisters Emma Philippi and Lillian Newnam, both of Modesto and Bobby Yancy and Louise Farrow both of Danville, AR; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Newsom, Franklin W.

Franklin W. Newsom, age 21, of Casa, AR died Tuesday, May 13, 1997. He was a member of the Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church, the Casa Masonic Lodge 537, Casa Rural Volunteer Fire Department. He was employed by Dana Corporation as a product technician and a 1994 graduate of Casa High School. He was born January 27, 1976 at the Yell County Hospital in Danville, AR. He loved his many friends and family, the love of his community was expressed in his involvement in various organizations throughout the Casa and surrounding area. He was also involved in various sports and hobbies including hunting, fishing, golf and horseback riding.

He is survived by his father, Harry Newsom of Casa; his mother, Edith Newsom of Casa; a brother, Larry Gilmore of Russellville; a sister and brother-in-law, Belta and Rev. Gary Newport of Scottsville. AR; fiance, Maria Parrish of Casa; three nephews, Michael and Chad Newport of Scottsville and Ricky Gilmore of Cincinnati, OH and a great number of friends and other relations.

Funeral service was May 16, 1997 at the Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Geno Johnston and Rev. Gary Newsom. Interment was in the Fitch Cemetery. Newsom, Harry Curtis

Harry Curtis Newsom, age 55, of Casa, AR died Saturday, September 2, 2000 at his home. He was born December 11, 1944 at Walcott, son of Elmer and Stella Odell Greenway Newsom. He was a member of the Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School teacher and music director. He was a former member of the Perry-Casa School Board, Casa Town Council and an active member of the Casa Volunteer Fire Department. He retired from the Arkansas State Parks System, serving as parks superintendent at several state parks.

He was preceded in death by his son, Franklin Newsom; three brothers, H. D., Bill and Jim Newsom; two sisters, Loretta Gramling and Nina Newsom.

He is survived by, his former wife, Edith Teel Newsom of Casa; a daughter, Velta Newport of Dover, AR; a son, Larry Gilmore of Casa; two brothers, Moe and Doyle Newsom both of Paragould; three sisters, Tilda Simmons of Paragould, Melba Byrd of Jonesboro and Glenda Davis of Bay; three grandsons and several nieces and nephews.

James Newsom, aged 92, died January 24 at Albuquerque, New Mex. He was a member of the Baptist Church and a Spanish American War Veteran. He lived at Plainview from 1925 until moving to Grants, New Mex. four years ago. He was a retired carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Newsom of Grants; one son, John Newsom of Jackson, Tenn.; one daughter, Mrs. Addie Lee Rich of Grants; one brother, J. L. Newsted, Margaret Michie (Watson)

Margaret Michie (Watson) Newsted, age 81, of Altus, OK, formerly of Danville, AR died Wednesday, September 14, 2005. She was born in Tarvas Aberdeen Shire, Scotland on March 12, 1924. She was a member of the Southwest Baptist Church in Altus, OK. She served in the Royal Army during WWII at Oundle, England. She was a member of the Briggsville Baptist Mission while she lived here. She also served as a volunteer in the Chambers Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a longstanding member of the Happy Hour Doll Club and enjoyed hours of games and fun with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents one brother one sister all of Scotland, her husband, Leslie J. Newsted and a son, Allan M. Newsted.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Heather and Leo Baker of Poway, CA and Vicky and Daryle Moore of Altus, OK one daughter-in-law, Betty Newsted of Danville, AR seven grandchildren ten great grandchildren one sister of Scotland and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Newsted, Reverend Allan Melvin

Reverend Allan Melvin Newsted, age 54, of Danville, AR died Thursday, May 11, 2000 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. He was a native of Scotland, he was born in Tarvas, Averdenshire on June 21, 1945. He was the minister at the Briggsville Second Baptist Chapel Mission, a master electrician, a Vietnam Navy Veteran, a graduate of Southern Baptist Theology Seminary in Louisville, KY receiving a degree in Christian Ministry and was a sophomore at Arkansas Tech University working toward an Associate Degree in computer science.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie J. Newsted and his father-in-law, Thomas Edmond Burkett.

He is survived by, his wife, Betty Lou Burkett Newsted; his mother, Margaret Michie Watson Newsted of Danville, AR; a son and daughter-in-law, Casey and Frances Newsted of Belleville, AR; a daughter and son-in-law, Genevive and Jim Brown of Savannah, GA; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Heather and Leo Baker of Poway, CA and Vicky and Eddie Moore of Altus, OK; four grandchildren, Cameron Newsted of Russellville, AR, Kelsey and Alexander Newsted of Belleville, AR and Breyton Brown of Savannah, GA; his mother-in-law, Beatrice Burkett of Scranton, AR; three nephews, Scott Allan Baker of CA, Jason Kiersch of VA and Jay Kiersch of CO and two nieces, Kimberly Baker of CA and Brandy McIntosh of AZ.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Mary Alean Newton, age 66, of Belleville died Monday, November 24, 2003, at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born December 7, 1936, in Elk City, Oklahoma to the late Odell and Annie Bell Lane Elmore. Mrs. Newton's accomplishments include an educator for over 25 years, teacher at Plainview-Rover School where she taught first and second grades, teacher and Elementary Principal at Western Yell County Schools, Graduate of Southern Bible College, Master of Education and Administration from ATU, member and pianist of the Ranger Freewill Baptist Church, Women's Auxiliary, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School Director Pastor's Assistant for the Children's Evangelist Crusade, member of the Upper Spring Creek E. H. Club, and coordinator for the Belleville Reunion.

She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Irene Sides Elmore; an aunt, Geneva Dennis; a nephew, Robert Morris.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Paul Newton; sons and daughter-in-law, Ron Newton of Belleville, Bobby and Kim Newton of Russellville; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Mark Griffith of Clinton, South Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Ethred and Louise Elmore of Belleville; a sister, Rose Nell Reynolds of Belleville; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Larry Don Elmore, Russell Morris, John Hastings, Jim Hastings, Jonathan Elmore, Justin Hastings.

Newton, Nathaniel, Sr.

Nathaniel Newton, Sr., age 90, of Danville died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at his home. He was born May 21, 1921 at Eufala, Oklahoma to the late Artie and Willie Jones Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gertrude Newton and his son, Walter Roy Newton.

Survivors include, three sons of California, one son of Arkansas; four daughters of Arkansas; four brothers and three sisters all of Oklahoma; thirty two grandchildren and over fifty great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Mt. George Cemetery with Rev. Jeremy Bull officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the cemetery prior to the service. He will be dearly missed. Newton, Opal Inez

Opal Inez Newton, age 84, of Dardanelle died Saturday, July 8, 2006 at her home. She was born March 18, 1922 in Spiro, Oklahoma to the late Raymond and Lucy Davis Applegate. After graduation from nurses training at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville, she married Raymond Newton in June of 1944. She then began her nursing career while Raymond was stationed in Tennessee and later in Europe, during WWII. Some of that time she worked in California. She worked for Millard-Henry Clinic in Russellville and then became county health nurse in October of 1956 and serving that capacity for twenty years before her retirement. She was also an avid quilter, having won several awards for her workmanship.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Dave Applegate.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Raymond Newton; a stepson, Larry Newton of Ola; one brother, Woodrow Applegate of Dover; nephews, Bill Applegate of Glendora, CA; a niece, Jane McGhghy of Glendora, CA; several other family and friends.

Services were held Tuesday at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Ken Partain, Pastor Dave Bryan and Rev. Charles King officiating. Paul Raymond Newton, age 75, of Belleville, AR died Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Chambers Memorial Hospital. He was born September 21, 1934 at Lick Creek, IL to the late Alvin Clay and Nora Grammer Newton. He was a retired minister and History teacher, a member of Upper Spring Creek Free Will Baptist Church and retired Navy Officer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Mary Alean Elmore Newton.

Bertha M. Nichols, age 100 of Briggsville, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at Mitchell Nursing Home. She was born December 1, 1907 in Bluffton, AR to the late James and Lela Mae Edwards Monroe. She was a homemaker, mother, farmer, and member of the Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Nichols; daughter, Imogene Spears; brothers, Bill Moody and Ken Moody, and sister, Emma Lawson.

Survivors include grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Billy Ray and Linda Hill of Bluffton, Jerry and Dana Spears of Briggsville, Tony and Diane Spears of Briggsville, and Randy and Connie Spears of Briggsville, 7 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; 3 nieces and 1 nephew.

Mr. Charles Baxter Nichols, age 65, of Dardanelle, AR died Sunday, January 21,1996 at AMI St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. He was born March 6, 1930 in Davi County, North Carolina to the late Howard B. Nichols. He was an electrician and member of the Oak Grove Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Nichols and Dennis Nichols.
