Montgomery, Doris Imogene

Doris Imogene Montgomery, age 82, of Plainview, AR died Friday, June 29, 2007 at Advance Care Hospital in Ft. Smith, AR. She was born October 10, 1924 in Havana to the late Fenner and Ella Ritchie Steward. She retired after 20 years as a nurse's assistant at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. She was one of the first employees when Child Development was started in Danville. She was a member of the Plainview Methodist church and the Plainview VFW Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Fred Montgomery, Sr.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John Fred, Jr. and Paula Montgomery of Hobbs, NM; Jeff and Danette Montgomery of Plainview, AR; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Thomas Cox of Plainview, AR; three brothers, Billy Steward of Havana, AR, Joe Steward of Pine Bluff, AR and Fenner Steward of Fayetteville, AR; three sisters, Betty Furr of Hot Springs, AR, Mabel Brannon of Petit Jean Mountain and Helen Tilly of Greenbrier; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Service was July 2 at the Plainview Methodist Church with Rev. Norman Chenowith, Rev. Jesse Millard and Rev. Eddy Howell officiating. Montgomery, Erma Grace

Miss Erma Grace Montgomery, age 75, of Dardanelle, AR died Saturday, April 8 at AMI St. Mary's in Russellville, AR. She was born August 9, 1919 in Briggsville, Yell County, Arkansas to the late William Jefferson and Eva Castleberry Montgomery. She was a 40 year retired school teacher and member of the Arkansas Teacher Association and the Dardanelle First United Methodist Church.

Survivors: brother, John Fred Montgomery of Plainview, AR; two sisters, Kate Balloun of Dardanelle and Reba Mathis of Riverside, CA, also 30 nephews and nieces.

Services were April 11 at the Dardanelle First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bennie Harmon. Interment was in Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service of Dardanelle. Montgomery, Freland Kyle

Freland Kyle Montgomery, age 72, of Ola died Wednesday, February 16, at his home. He was a native of Briggsville, son of the late Bruce and Ocie Wehunt Montgomery, a retired wholesale grocery salesman for M-K Grocer at Russellville and Conway, and was a member of Petit Jean Masonic Lodge 298 and First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maudie Montgomery; a son, Joe Bill Montgomery of Ola; two daughters, Mrs. David H. (Mary) Pratt of Conway and Patricia Annette Montgomery of Ola; his-stepmother, Mrs. Nancy Montgomery of Carlsbad, N.M.; a brother, Sheridan Montgomery of Hot Springs; two sisters, Jayne Kilby and Bonnie East of Hot Springs, and two step-brothers, Faye Wehunt of Carlsbad, N.M., and Estel Wehunt of Booneville.

Montgomery, Grady Bruce

Grady Bruce Montgomery, aged 76, of Carlsbad, New Mex. died Wednesday at Carlsbad. He was a member of the Baptist Church and was a Mason and last year received his fifty year pen.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Montgomery of Carlsbad; three sons, Kyle Montgomery of Ola, Shannon Montgomery of Hot Springs and Sheridan Montgomery of Hot Springs; two daughters, Mrs. Bonnie East and Mrs. Jane Kilby of Hot Springs; two stepsons, Fay Wehunt of Carlsbad and Estel Wehunt of Georgia; one brother, Clayton Montgomery of Tulsa; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Spencer of Plainview and Mrs. John Sullivan of Danville; 12 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Montgomery, Harold

Harold Montgomery, age 100, died Sunday, June 11, 2006 at Arkansas Hospice Hospital in Hot Springs. Born September 8, 1905 in Gravelly he was the son of the late Dr. Thomas and Ellen Crawley Montgomery. He was a high school graduate and attended Arkansas Tech University. He was a member of the Bluffton Methodist Church, serving as the Sunday School Superintendent for over thirty years. He was a 32 degree Mason, a member of the Masonic Lodge 123 in Bluffton for over fifty years, serving as secretary.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Elizabeth Horton Montgomery and Lola Bogle Montgomery.

Survivors are a daughter, Mary Smallwood of Bluffton; three grandchildren and spouses, Kathy and Russ Jefferson of Hot Springs, Danny Potter of Bluffton, Paul and Teresa Smallwood of Chickalah and six great grandchildren.

Services will be held today, Wednesday, 10 am at the Bluffton Methodist Church with Rev. Wiley Jones officiating. Burial will be in Bluffton Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville. Montgomery, Harold

Harold Montgomery Killed in Wreck - Burial services were held Monday at the Briggsville cemetery for Harold Montgomery, age 19, of Hot Springs, who was killed in an auto accident near Hot Springs Saturday. The head on collision claimed the lives of two others, Leo Robbins, 52, of Malvern, driver of one of the cars, died instantly, Miss Margaret Teague, 20, of Jones Mill, who was a passenger in the car driven by Montgomery, died at a Hot Springs Hospital Sunday. State Police said Robbins apparently was traveling at an excessive rate of speed and that his car swerved into the wrong lane on a curve, cashing head-on into Montgomery's car. Montgomery graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1954 and since then has been working with his father, a commercial painter.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Shannon Montgomery, one sister, Barbara sue, and one brother, Shannon, Jr., all of Hot Springs. Other survivors include his grandmother, Mrs. O. T. Tollerson of Hot Springs, his paternal grandfather, Bruce Montgomery of Dumas and his maternal grandfather, Van Dawson of Carlsbad, New Mexico. Funeral services for Haynes H. Montgomery, age 76, Havana, who died Saturday in a Perryville rest home, were conducted Sunday in the Belleville Methodist Church. A retired farmer, Mr. Montgomery was a native of Belleville and had made his home in Havana the past 16 years.

Montgomery, Jeff R.

Jeff R. Montgomery, age 79, of Danville, AR formerly of Fayetteville, died Thursday, June 23, 2011 at his home. He was born October 31, 1931 at Sicily Island, LA to John Paul and Lela Lemley Montgomery. He was a member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Fayetteville. He served his country for more than 34 years on active duty in the Navy and then in the AR Army National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Montgomery; a son Jeffrey Montgomery of Danville; three daughters, Sheila Mahaffey of Prairie Grove, Melissa Montgomery Tom of Jenks, OK and Diane Kelty of Fairfax Station, VA; two brothers; three sisters; 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Rosary and funeral mass were June 28 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Dardanelle officiated by Rev. Clayton Gould. Montgomery, John Fred

John Fred Montgomery, age 80 of Plainview, died Wednesday, October 5, 2004. He was retired from Continental Grain and had farmed for many years. He was a member of Plainview Methodist Church, a WWII Army veteran, lifetime member of V. F. W, a Mason, a member of the American Legion, former quorum court member, Plainview Municipal Judge, and on the selected service board. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in the South Pacific.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Imogene Montgomery; sons and daughters-in-law, John F. and Paula Montgomery Jr. of El Paso, TX, Jeff and Danette Montgomery; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Thomas Cox of Plainview; sisters, Kate Balloun of Dardanelle and Reba Mathis of California; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday at the Plainview Methodist Church. Burial with military honors by the Dardanelle V. F. W Post 3141 held at Salem Cemetery. Montgomery, Lee (Dr.)

Yell County's Oldest Doctor Dies at 86 - Dr. Lee Montgomery, age 86, died at his home at Gravelly Saturday morning. He was the oldest physician in Yell County. Dr. Montgomery began his practice in 1833 at Shark, in Yell County and was active until a year ago. He received a 50 year gold button from the Arkansas Medical Association in 1949 with the observation that they waited 10 years too late. He had practiced at Gravelly since 1900. Dr. Montgomery was born in Mississippi and came to Arkansas at the age of 17. He attended the University of Arkansas Medical School and Rush Medical College at Chicago. He was a past president of the Yell and Pope Counties Medical Society. He was a member of the Yell County Board of Examiners several years and also was a Methodist and a Scottish Rite Mason.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Otho Garner and Mrs. Tom Parks of Plainview; a brother, Dr. Tom Montgomery of Salter, Ore. and a sister Mrs. John Caviness, of Danville. Montgomery, Levicia Ellen (Crawley)

Mrs. Levicia Montgomery, a resident of the Stayton, Ore. area since 1939, died Sunday afternoon, January 8. She had been confined to a bed for several years at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Robert McCall. She was born March 9, 1847 [1874] in Gravelly. She and her husband, Dr. Thomas Montgomery who survives her, would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary February 23.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three of her six children: Lyle Montgomery, Cottage Grove; Mrs. Syble Brumley, Dripping Springs, Texas; and Harold Montgomery, Bluffton; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Mrs. Maudie Odella Montgomery, age 81, of Ola, AR died Friday, December 1, 1995 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born in Havana, AR November 11, 1914, daughter of the, late Alfred Wallace and Florence Odella Belt Johnston. She was the widow of Kyle F. Montgomery. She was a mother and homemaker and had been an employee of the Yell County Nursing Home in Ola.

Survivors include: one son, Bill Montgomery of Ola and two daughters, Mary Pratt and Patricia Annette Montgomery both of Conway.

Patricia Annette Montgomery, age 64, of Conway died Monday, April 15, 2002 at Heritage Living Center in Conway. She was born in Ola, Arkansas on August 26, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Kyle F. and Maudie Johnston Montgomery. She was a retired social worker from the University of Arkansas. She was a graduate of Ola High School, and a member of the Ola First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie M. Montgomery.

Montgomery, Thomas Marion (Dr.), M.D.

Funeral services for Dr. Thomas Marion Montgomery, 88, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, at the Weddle funeral home chapel. The Rev. Stuart Shaw officiated and internment was in Lone Oak cemetery here. Dr. Montgomery, who died Sunday at Santiam Memorial hospital, was born in Lafayette county, Miss., September 9, 1873. He moved with his parents to Arkansas when he was a boy, attending school in Conway, Ark., and, later the Arkansas Industrial University school of medicine. He retired from a 40 year career in medicine in 1939, coming to Oregon to be near his daughter and son. Much of his early practice was in the rural regions of Arkansas, where he traveled on horseback or by horse and buggy. His father was a doctor, as were five of his brothers, and his sister was a nurse. Dr. Montgomery was married November 23, 1892, to Ellen Crawley, in Gravelly, Ark.

His wife preceded him in death January 8 of this year. He was a member of the First Methodist church here.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Sybil Brumley, Dripping Springs, Tex., and Mrs. R. L. McCall, Stayton; two sons, Harold Montgomery, Bluffton, Ark. and Lyle Montgomery, Cottage Grove; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Allie Hunt Moody, age 83, of Bluffton, died Monday, March 12, 1990 in Plainview. She was a native of the Little Texas Community in Yell County, the widow of the late Kenneth Moody and daughter of the late William and Becky Jones Hunt. She was a mother and a homemaker.

Beatrice O. Moody, age 88, of Danville AR passed away Sunday, February 13, 2005 at the City Hospital in Fayetteville, AR. She was born in Senath, MO on August 8, 1916 to the late Theodore Sylvester and Alma Nugent Smith. She was a minister's wife and mother and a member of the Wilson Free Will Baptist Church.

Moody, Clara Estelle

Clara Estelle Moody, age 91 of Danville, died Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Mitchells Nursing Home in Danville. She was born in Centerville, on April 30, 1914 to Robert Delbert and Janie Davis Shinn. She was a homemaker, member of the Bluffton Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday school.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill Moody; brothers, Claud Shinn, an infant brother; sisters, Syble Watkins, Alliene Blacklock and Duvle Watkins.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Joy Don and Sandra Moody of Van Buren, AR; sister, Eunice Fielder of Dardanelle; two grandchildren, Billy Leon Moody of Carl Junction, MO, Sondra Lee Moody of Fort Smith, AR; two great grandchildren, Ky Moody, University of AR, Fort Smith and Abby Moody, Carl Junction, MO.

James Monroe Moody, aged 79, died at the Yell County Hospital Friday, October 10, 1958. He was a lifelong resident of Yell County, a farmer and a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Emma Lawson and Mrs. Bertha Nichols of Bluffton; and two sons, Bill Moody and Kenneth Moody, also of Bluffton; two sisters, Mrs. Serilda Baker of Howe, Okla. and Mrs. Laura Grigsby of Harrison; one brother, Walter Moody of Mt. Kenneth Wayne Moody, aged 63, of Bluffton, a farmer, died Wednesday.

Moody, Mary K. Black

Mary K. Black Moody age 86 of Russellville slipped away to Heaven Friday, February 24, 2006 at her home in Russellville. She was born February 3, 1920 at Russellville to the late Londell and Alberta Kindle Black. She was a Sunday School Class Leader and a member of the St. Paul Methodist Church in Dardanelle.

She is preceded in death by her husband, J. M. Moody; a son, Tommy Lee Moody.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, M. J. and Joyce Moody of Russellville, Ruben B. Moody of Little Rock; two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara and Charles Chenault of Russellville, Georgia Ann Harper of Tracy, CA; one brother, Wardell Black of Stockton, CA; one sister, Suedell Black of Oakland, CA; eight grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and numerous other family and friends.

A memorial service will be Thursday, March 2, 2006, 2:00 p. m. at the Exum Tabernacle Methodist in Russellville. Visitation is tonight, Wednesday, 6:00 to 8:00. Sandra Varie Moody, 80 of Van Buren formally of Danville passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in a local hospital. She was born April 27, 1937 in Nevada, Missouri; her parents were Mary Reba Finamore Boyd and Everett Leon Boyd. She was the oldest of four girls. Nancy Mahler of Kansas City, Kansas, Susie Hysom of Rich Hill, Missouri and Glenna Lashbrook of Kansas City, Missouri. She went to high school in Kansas City, Missouri and college at University of Central Arkansas in Conway. She was a dietician for Danville Public Schools and retired as cafeteria manager. She was a Baptist and belonged to North Park Baptist Van Buren. She married Joy Don Moody on August 30, 1956.

She was preceded in death by her parents. They had two children, Billy Leon Moody and Sondra Lee Moody Friend, Billy and daughters-in-law Charlotte from Joplin, Missouri and Sondra and son-in-law Randy Friend from Fort Smith. One grandson Ky Gavin Moody and wife Staci from Kansas City, Missouri and one granddaughter Abby Nichole Moody from Fayetteville, Arkansas; two step grandchildren. She moved to Van Buren in 2001 to be closer to her kids. She fought lung cancer and her love for her family kept her going; she often said she was blessed to have family and friends like she has; to know her was to love her, she will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Services was held at 10 AM, Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Gracelawn Cemetery Arbor under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren. Toni Faye Moody, infant of Viola, passed away December 8, 2014 at Arkansas Children Hospital. She was born September 29, 2014 in Russellville, AR to Justin & Bridgette Treadwell Moody.

Her survivors include her parents, 4 sisters Gemma and Isabella of Viola, Grace and Zoey of Plainview; grandparents, Shawn & Tammy Moody of Mt. Moody, Willie (Bill) Earnest

Willie (Bill) Earnest Moody, age 82, of Bluffton, died Wednesday evening, April 7, in the Doctor's Hospital in Little Rock. He was a native of Bluffton, son of the late Monroe and Lela Edwards Moody, was a retired farmer and barber, was a member of the Baptist Church and a Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Clam Shinn Moody the home; one son, Joy Don Moody of Danville; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Nichols of Bluffton; two grandchildren, Billy Leon Moody and Sondra Lee Moody, both of Danville.

Mooneyham, Ruby Nell

Services for Ruby Nell Mooneyham, 8 year old Memphis girl who died of burns received October 28, were held at Gray Road Baptist Church.

Burial was in National Cemetery. Ruby Nell died about 9 p.m. December 12 at the Shrine Burns Institute at Cincinnati. She was burned at her home when her flannel nightgown caught fire from a bathroom gas heater. She was admitted to St. Joseph Hospital and transferred December 6 to the Cincinnati hospital, by arrangement of the Memphis A1 Chymia Shrine. "She seemed to be doing okay when she left," said her step-father, Sammie Tollison, "Then all of a sudden she got worse and they couldn't pull her out of it." Ruby Nell was brave. "When she left she told us she'd be OK and she was looking forward to the plane ride up there.

She was going to have her Christmas when she came back, even if it was July." Besides her stepfather, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Marjoria Tollison (the former Lestaree James of Danville; a brother, Sammie Tollison; and her grandmother, Mrs. Jennie James of Memphis. Moore, "Art" Arthur Lester

"Art" Arthur Lester Moore, age 73 of Belleville, died Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. He was born in Paris, Arkansas on March 12, 1930, son of the late Henry L. and Faye Dodson Moore. He was a 32 degree mason, a member of the New Blaine VFW Post 8383, a retired Army Chief Warrant Officer, and owner operator of the Chickalah Grocery.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Inajean Bustamonte and a brother, Bill Moore.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Jessie June Struthers Moore; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Debi Moore of Dardanelle; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laquetta and David Purkiss of Lubbock, Texas, Anita and Ernie Vanravensway of Batesville, Arkansas; a brother, Oscar Moore of Junction City, Kansas; a sister, Dorothy Pippin of Indiana; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Anne Moore, age 80, of Belleville passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Chambers Memorial Hospital. She was born November 27, 1931 in Detroit Michigan to the late Harry & Sophia Catherine Liskowacka Zdankiewicz. She was a Navy Veteran.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack "Junior" Moore and her parents.

Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law Mark & Gwen Moore of Danville; daughter & son-in-law Lynn & Bruce Lenz of Virginia; granddaughters Cynthia, Megan and Haley; sister Geri Stress of Arizona.
