Mitchell, Jimmy Newton

Jimmy Newton Mitchell, age 70, of Texarkana, Ark. died Friday, February 15, 2008, in a local hospital. Mr. Mitchell was born January 27, 1938, in Sand Springs, Okla. and had lived in Texarkana for the past six years. He was a member of Beech Street Baptist Church and also the Mixed Adult Sunday School class. He also worked for Opportunities Inc. and was a retired disabled veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Mitchell, of Texarkana, Ark. two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Melissa Mitchell of Texarkana, Ark. and Jeff and Lovelyn Mitchell of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Elwanda Harper of Mena, Ark. Sylvia Ventris of Van Buren, Ark. and Norma and Barry Drager, of Houston, Texas; one brother, Kenneth Mitchell, of Kansas City, Kan. one sister-in-law, Juanita Mitchell of Havana, Ark.; two grandchildren, Courtney and Jason Mitchell, both of Texarkana, Ark.

Services will be 2 p. m. today at Texarkana (Ark. ) Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Craig Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas. The family received friends at the funeral home Monday night. Mitchell, Joe

Funeral service for Joe Mitchell, age 51 and life-long resident of Yell County, was held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church in Danville, with Rev. H.J. Couchman, pastor of the local church, officiating.

Burial was in the Danville cemetery. His death came as a surprise to his friends and associates, having gone to the hospital August 17, was there a week, and confined to the home only another week. Mitchell, Juanita Burrows

Juanita Burrows Mitchell entered into eternal rest Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the age of 86. She was born in Havana, April 14, 1922, to the late Hubert and Carmen Sanders Burrows. Preceding her in death was her husband, best friend and soul mate of 58 years, William Edward Mitchell and brothers, Claude & Doyle Burrows.

Survivors include a son & daughter-in-law Bill and Marilyn Mitchell of Russellville; daughter & son-in-law Kathy & Tommy Fink of Havana; brothers and sisters-in-law Ralph and Blondie Burrows of Danville, Don and Marilyn Burrows of Little Rock, Ola Allen Burrows and Fanchion Baker Burrows Davis both of Benton, Elwanda Mitchell Harper of Mena; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Kenneth & Nina Mitchell of North Kansas City, MO, Silvia Mitchell Ventris of Van Buren, Gail Mitchell of Texarkana, TX, Norma and Barry Drager of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Stacey & Brad Spikes, Brian and Heather Mitchell of Danville, Teresa & Chris Dale of Russellville, Jamie and Nicholas Taylor of Havana; step-grandchildren, Roger & Sara Chisum of North Carolina and Leslie Garrigus of Austin, TX; ten great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. Celebration of her life under the direction of Rev. Bob Caldwell was held November 9th at Havana Assembly of God Church where she was a lifelong member and served as Church Secretary for over thirty years. She was laid to rest at the Havana Cemetery. Katharyn Mitchell, age 88 of Danville, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. She was born March 28, 1919 at Upper Spring Creek in Yell County, AR, to the late Jim and Theoria Rogers Waters. She was a member of the Danville First United Methodist Church. She was an Antique Dealer and owner of Log Cabin Antique in Danville.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Orville Waters, Cecil Waters; sisters, Lydia Stension, Laura Dalton, and Myrtle Moudy.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Boss Mitchell; son and daughter-in-law, Carlos and Margaret Mitchell of Dardanelle, AR; son, Charles Mitchell of Ft. Smith, AR; grandchildren, Carla Mitchell of Little Rock, Matthew Mitchell of Dardanelle, AR, Amanda Mitchell Craig of Dardanelle, Amy Mitchell McEntyre of Dardanelle, AR, Wendy Mitchell Davis of Danville; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Larry A. Mitchell, age 68, of Danville passed away Sunday December 20, 2015, at Arkansas Heart Hospital. Larry was born January 19, 1947, in Danville to Doug & June English Mitchell. He was a retired electrician for IBEM and he was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the Team Roping Championship and IBEW Local Union.

He was preceded in death by his father, Doug Mitchell and brother, Dougie Mitchell.

Larry James Mitchell, age 52, of Havana, AR died Monday, April 25, 2011. He was born June 6, 1958 in Mena to the late Samuel "James" and Lorene Juanita Martin Mitchell. He was a feed truck driver for Wayne Farms in Danville.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Lola F. Hill Mitchell; a son, Joseph Mitchell of Havana; grandson Ely Mitchell; brothers, Sam Mitchell of Coal Hill and Tim Mitchell of Clarksville; sisters, Mary Harris Sayger of Petit Jean Mountain and Kathy Smith of Clarksville and a host of nephews and nieces.

Leon Duncan "Doug" Mitchell, age 77, of Danville, AR died Wednesday, March 14, 2001 at his home in Danville, AR. He was born April 8, 1923 in Checotah, OK to the late John and Myrtle Duncan Mitchell. He was a retired electrician, a WWII Army Veteran, serving in the 52nd Signal Battalion, a member of the VFW, American Legion and the First Baptist Church in Danville.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Mitchell and Dempster Mitchell and one sister, Inez Tharp.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, June English Mitchell; three sons, Larry Mitchell of Kansas City, KS, Bill Mitchell and Douglas Mitchell both of Danville, AR; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Richard Ryan of Fort Worth, TX; a brother Alex "Hookie" Mitchell of Danville; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren

Mitchell, Margaret Noel (Jones)

Margaret Mitchell age 69 of Dardanelle died Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Baptist Health Systems. She was born September 17, 1944 at Fort Smith to the late Noel H. and Mary Sue Parks Jones. She was a home maker and a member of the Dardanelle First United Methodist Church and the DAR. Margaret worked at M. Hill's for several years as a beauty consultant. She really enjoyed making all the "young ladies" look even more beautiful than they did when they came in, and they always came back asking for Ms. Margaret. She loved to go shopping with her daughters and granddaughters and spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Carlos Mitchell of Dardanelle; three daughters, Carla Dawson and husband Mark of Conway, Amy McEntyre and husband Chris of Dardanelle; Wendy Davis and husband Mark of Danville; six grandchildren, Madelyn Davis of Danville, Alyssa and Ashton McEntyre of Dardanelle, Callie, Mattie and Lillie Dawson all of Conway.

Maurine Mitchell, age 82, of Danville, AR died Thursday, August 2, 2001 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. She was born January 6, 1919 in Dutch Creek, Yell County, Arkansas to the late Henry Irvin and Sarah Melissa Watson Gillespie. She was the owner and administrator of Mitchell's Nursing Home. She was a graduate of Draughon's Business School of Little Rock and a member of the Danville United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Drexel Mitchell; brothers, Hershel, Hays, Robert (Rab) and Roy Gillespie and a sister, Dessie Olene Reed.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James E. and Beverly Mitchell of Danville; a daughter, Agnes K. Mitchell of Danville, AR; granddaughter, Sarah E. Mitchell of Russellville; grandsons, Robert D. Mitchell, Paul

Paul Mitchell, 93, of Lake Charles, LA passed away at 6:15 AM Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24, 2011. Paul was born February 10, 1918 in Waltreak, AR to Arthur and Agnes Wrather Mitchell. He was a 1936 graduate of Belleville High School. After graduation, Paul enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp, and was stationed in Hawaii at Hickam Field. On December 7, 1941 he was injured from an explosion during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He was classified as Missing in Action for several months. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart for his service. Paul has lived in Lake Charles since 1944. He worked for Cities Service as an operator for five years. He later went to work for Conoco and retired after 25 years as a Lead Operator. Paul was a member of University United Methodist Church, and was also a member of the Free and Accepted Masons. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening in his spare time.

Paul is survived by two sons, Arthur Paul Mitchell of River Ridge, LA, and Noland Alan Mitchell and his wife, Bonnie of Lake Charles, LA, two grandchildren; Michael Alan Mitchell and Meagan Mitchell McFatter, both of Lake Charles, LA, five great-grandchildren, and two brothers; Boss Mitchell of Danville, AR and Calvin C. (Cap) Mitchell of Lake Charles, LA.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Anne B. Mitchell, his parents, one step-daughter Alyce Anne Preston Jessop, one grandson Corey Paul Mitchell, and three brothers; James Drexel Mitchell, Hayes Mitchell, and Hoover Mitchell.

Services were held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Charlie Langford officiating. He was laid to rest in Highland Memorial Gardens. Reba Mitchell, 68, of Dover, died Sunday, February 13, 2011, at the Atkins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 14, 1942, at Little Rock to Opal and Bessie Hurst Buie. She was a kitchen manager for the Little Rock School System and later raised chickens for Tyson Foods.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred Mitchell; two brothers, Boyd Buie and Walter Buie; and a nephew, Alvin Mitchell Jr.

Survivors include a son, Perry Mitchell of Pottsville; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Kathern and Alvin Mitchell of Dover, Ruby Mills of Dardanelle, and Sue and George Bullock of Houston, Texas; a grandson and his wife, Jonathan and Sarah Shepherd of Dover; two great grandchildren, Aedyn and Kaylen Shepherd; and several nephews and nieces.

Graveside service and burial is 2 p.m., Thursday, February 17, 2011, at Phoenix Cemetery near Dover, officiated by Mr. Chris George. Arrangements are by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. Ruby Keener Allen Mitchell, age 68, of Blossom, TX died March 20, 1999 at her home. She was born March 31, 1930 at Briggsville, AR to the late Frank and Myrtle (Robinson) Keener. She married Boze Allen who preceded her in death on March 19, 1977. She and Preston Mitchell were married December 11, 1981. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Paris, TX and a retired beautician.

Survivors include her husband, Preston Mitchell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Phillip Mitchell of Detroit and Robin and Rodney Norwood of Pattonville; a step-son, Keith Mitchell of Dallas; eight grandchildren, Kain Allen of Dallas, Reign Mitchell of College Station, Brian Mitchell of Detroit, Hunter Norwood of Pattonville, Deanna, Kim and Kelli Mitchell of Blossom; a great-grandson, Braden Allen of Dallas and a sister, Berniece Phipps of Paris, TX. Mitchell, Sam

Sam Mitchell, age 81, of Pico Rivera, Calif. died June 13 in a Los Angeles hospital. He was a native of Yell County and taught school many years in Arkansas and Oklahoma. He practiced law in Arkansas and served as Representative in the State Legislature from 1916-1918., served an auxiliary to the Military Police during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie G. Kennon Mitchell; one son, X. X. Mitchell; two daughters; Imogene Hall and Martha Brown; two sisters , Miss Polly Mitchell and Mrs. Minnie Gillin, both of Danville; two brothers. Dr. Clarence Mitchell and Clem Mitchell, both of Danville; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mitchell, Sam

Sam Mitchell, age 81, of Pico Rivera, Calif. died June 13 in a Los Angeles hospital. He was a native of Yell County and taught school many years in Arkansas and Oklahoma. He practiced law in Arkansas and served as Representative in the State Legislature from 1916-1918., served an auxiliary to the Military Police during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie G. Kennon Mitchell; one son, X. X. Mitchell; two daughters; Imogene Hall and Martha Brown; two sisters , Miss Polly Mitchell and Mrs. Minnie Gillin, both of Danville; two brothers. Wilba Lee Mitchell, age 75, of Booneville, AR died Saturday, November 30, 2002 at the Crawford County Health and Rehab Hospital in Van Buren, AR. She was born in Magazine, AR January 1, 1927. She was retired from Arkansas Tech, where she had worked in the Accounting and Office Department.

She was preceded in death by her father, Boyd Scott, her husband, Bennie Mitchell and a son, Don Brady.

Survivors include her mother, Berta Harger Scott; a daughter and son-in-law, Darene and David Faulkner all of Flower Mound, TX; a brother, Thomas Scott of Booneville, AR; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

William Edward Mitchell, age 75, of Havana, AR died Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, AR. He was born October 29, 1924 in Russellville, AR to Vera Burris Mitchell and the late Osburne N. Mitchell. He was a cattleman, poultry producer, a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the Havana Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Mitchell and a sister, Hellen Mitchell.

Minnie Frances Ussery Mitchum, age 51, of Danville, AR died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at the Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. She was a daughter of Minnie Lucile Hodge Ussery of Danville and the late Fay Earl Ussery; she was born February 16, 1950, at Marked Tree, AR.

In addition to her father she was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Lee Ussery.

Eula Fay Caldwell Mize, age 90, of Houston, TX formerly of Danville, AR went to be with her Lord and Savior April 12, 1999. She was born September 14, 1908, Mountain Township, (Yell Co.) Arkansas. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church, Houston, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Anderson and Tennie Pearl Suggs Caldwell; a brother, Carl Caldwell; two sisters, Thelma Caldwell Vastine and Edith Caldwell Witcher; two granddaughters, Donna Kathleen Souchon and Joanna Rudean Mize.

She is survived by two daughters, Geneva Fay Macoubrie and Melba Sue Allee and husband, Kenneth; two sons, Bobby Wayne Mize and wife Sylvia and Billy Joe Mize and wife Ruth all of the Houston area; one brother, Clifford C. Caldwell and wife Zona Gail or Upland, CA; ten grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

Lyndon Ray Mize, 29, of Oklahoma City was killed Saturday night when a truck he was driving hit a bridge abutment. He was a former resident of Danville.

Moats, Ruth Rebecca (Becky) Green

Ruth Rebecca (Becky) Green Moats, 66 of Danville, entered the gates of heaven to be with Jesus Wednesday, August 27, 2008. She was surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Corinth, MS on January 8, 1942. She was a homemaker, devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She loved to spend time with her family and make special memories. She also enjoyed cooking, fishing, deer hunting, and bird watching.

She is preceded in death by her father, Clarence Lewis Green, her mother, Ada Louella Sipes, and an infant brother, Jimmy Franklin Green. Becky is survived by her husband of 50 wonderful years, Albert Anthony Moats of Danville; three sons and daughters- in-law, Tony and Dolores Moats of Danville, Wayne and Tianna Moats of Greenbrier, Mike and Melinna Moats of Booneville, and one daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Chuck Thomas of Harrison; two brothers, Junior Green and wife Wanda of Danville, Jerry Green and wife Kathy of Ola; two sisters, Betty Crawford of Dardanelle and Debbie Stuart and husband, Charles of North Platte, NE; two half-brothers, Clayton and Coye Green and one half-sister, Ruthie Pearl Duncan, all of Memphis, TN; twelve grandchildren, Tiffany May, Anthony Moats, Misty Moats Reynolds, Michael Moats, Matthew Moats, Al Moats, Lindsay Thomas, Ashley Wilson, Shelby Moats, Austin Wilson, Logan Thomas, and Lakyn Thomas; two great-grandchildren, Alex Moats and Hunter Moats; many aunts, uncles, and special Aunt Lucille James and many nieces and nephews. Mobley, Barry Adrian

Barry Adrian Mobley, age 57, of Sheridan formerly of Havana, passed away December 14, 2014 at St. Vincent Infirmary Hospital. He was born June 24, 1957 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Adrian & Pebble Mott Mobley. He graduated from Danville High school in 1975 and was a member of the State Football Championship Team of 1974. He also won the Arkansas Rodeo Association State Bareback title in 1979. He graduated from Arkansas Tech University in 1980 with a degree in Agri- Business. He was a self-employed real estate appraiser. He was a faithful member of Carthage Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tommy and Merle Mobley and Roy and Gladys Mott.

Survivors include his parents, Adrian and Pebble Mobley of Havana; sister, Christy Puckett of Ft. Smith; nephew, Dawson Urrutia of Kirksville, Missouri; and many other family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the WYC Church of Christ with Bro John McCourt officiating. Burial was at Moore's Chapel Cemetery in Waveland.
