Martin, Roy "Buck, Jr.

Roy "Buck" Martin, Jr., age 85 of Dardanelle, died Monday, February 22, 2010 at River Galley Medical Center. He was born October 22, 1924 at Dardanelle to the late Roy Martin, Sr., and Cecil Davenport.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Gwen Martin of Dardanelle; three daughters, Gwenda Martin of North Little Rock, Patti Phillips of Winnsboro, TX, Ginger Robinson of Conway; two Brothers, Jim Martin of Dardanelle, Frank Martin of Little Rock; sister, Dorothy Grace of Wilburton, OK; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle with Rev. Jonathan Whitlock officiating. Burial was in Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle. Mrs. Sally Martin, age 81, died April 17, 1959 at her home at Kennett, Mo.

She is survived by her husband, Ezra Martin; four children, Mrs. George Cullin of Kennett, Carl Martin of Reeves, Mo., Robert Martin of Danville and Fred Martin of Hammond, La. and 18 grandchildren. Martin, Thomas Edna, Judge (Ret)

Judge (Ret) Thomas Edna Martin of Rockdale, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012. He was born December 10, 1923 in Pleasant Hill, TX to James Alfred and Lillie (Carter) Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann (George) Martin; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Belle George and Lavelle George; numerous nieces and nephews. Tom worked in Kingsville, TX for the Missouri-Pacific Railroad. In 1942, he joined the Navy during World War II, worked for Standard Oil in Houston, then Alcoa, Rockdale facility 32 years until his retirement in 1985, then municipal judge in Rockdale until 2003. He was also a member of the Rockdale Masonic Lodge and Shriners. In 1958, Tom married Jo Ann George. They raised a nephew, Jimmy Havens.

Martin, Thomas W.

Thomas W. Martin, age 62, of Dardanelle, AR died Friday, April 8, 2005 at his home. He was born February 21, 1943 in Pope County to William Arch and Myrtle Zelma Vinson Martin. He was an active member and deacon at new Hope Baptist Church in Dardanelle and was a service manager for Dixon Poultry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Alma Griffin Martin; two brothers, Riley and Fay Martin and two sisters, Ellen Daggs and Mozell Stanley.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mary Meimerstrof Martin of Dardanelle; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Donna Martin of Dardanelle, AR; a brother, Bill Martin of Russellville, AR; two sisters June Hansell and Betty Anderson both of Russellville, AR and two grandchildren.

Funeral service was April 12, 2005 at the Shinn Chapel with the Rev. Joe Yates officiating. Burial was in East Point Cemetery at Russellville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service. Mashburn, Gladys Mollie

Gladys Mollie Mashburn, age 96 of Dardanelle, died Thursday, November 7, 2002 at the Dardanelle Hospital. Mrs. Mashburn was born May 2, 1906 in Yell County, Arkansas to the late Zora T. and Tishie Tilmon Shepherd. She was a member of the Liberty Hall Methodist Church, a retired cook for the Dardanelle School District and a homemaker and mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Terry Mashburn; a granddaughter and three sons-in-law.

Survivors are nine children, Zora Tucker, Jess Mashburn, Margaret Miller and Gwendolyn Mashburn all of Dardanelle; Opal and Vonda Mashburn of Simpson, Louisiana, Christin and George Snow of Arteisa, New Mexico, Linda Kinslow of Hector, Mollie and James Havner of Sheridan, Charlotte and Kenneth Price of Russellville; one sister, Virginia Roberts of Little Rock; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Services were Saturday, November 9, 2002, 2:00 p. m. Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle with Rev. Franklin Piercey officiating. Interment was in New Hope Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle. He was the son of the late Garland Terry and Gladys Shepherd Mashburn, an industrial construction worker, a Navy veteran of World War II, member of the Dardanelle First Baptist Church, and a member of Rogers-Rye VFW Post 2283 of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Russellville and First Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, J.T. Mashburn of Deer Park, TX and David Mashburn of Dardanelle; a brother, Opal Mashburn of Simpson, LA; six sisters, Zora Jane Tucker of Dardanelle, Christine Snow of Artesia, N.M., Margaret Miller of Dardanelle, Molly Havner of Sheridan, Linda Kinslow of Hector, Charlotte Price of Russellville and Gwendolyn Mashburn of Dardanelle and three grandchildren.

Linda J. Mashburn, age 52, of Ola died Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home. She was born October 6, 1964, in Little Rock to Jim Bill and Ruby Harris-Rankin. She was a member of the Slaty Crossing Church and loved working with the youth groups. She mentored many peewee youth basketball players and was a huge high school sports fan. In her career, she had over 25 years of service with Deltic Timber Corporation.

In addition to her father, Jim Bill Rankin, she is preceded in death by a brother, Kris Rankin.

Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Marvin Mashburn; a son and daughter-in-law, C.J. and Jessica Mashburn of Casa; a daughter and son-in-law, Taylor and Jacob Robinson of Casa; her mother, Ruby Rankin and step-father, Ronnie Maxwell of Perryville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmie and Rhonda Rankin of Houston and B.C. and Donna Rankin of Birta; a sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Keith Lankford of Perry; and nine nieces and nephews, Ashley, Alisha, Cali, Gracie, Emma, Dennis, Lesley, Michelle and Wade.

The funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 29, 2017, at Ola Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Denver Robinson officiating. Pauline Cleta Mashburn, age 81 of Birta Yell County, Arkansas died Saturday, December 28, 2002 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born December 27, 1921 in Belleville, AR to the late Horace Lee and Edna Ruth Swor Moore. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Ola and retired after 30 years as a postal clerk with the Dallas Post Office.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Sherman Mashburn and Dennis Mashburn.

Russell Wesley Mashburn, age 81, of Mt. George died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. He was born June 16, 1931 at Cardon Bottoms to Roger Wesley and Zola Crow Mashburn. He was a Southern Baptist and a member of the Branded By Christ Church, a former employee of Winrock Farms, Universal Housing and Tyson River Valley Maintenance. He was a member of the Army National Guard for 8 years, a former member of the Galla Rock Fire Department. He loved the Chuck Wagon Races and anything that dealt with horses.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wade Mashburn and Gilbert Mashburn; four sisters, Reba Alexander, Naomi Johnson, Virginia Kinser, Wanda Thone.

Survivors include his wife, Freeda Mashburn of Mt. Thomas Wayde Mashburn, 82, a 38-year resident of Newark, Calif., died Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, in Fremont, Calif. He was born in Dardanelle, a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked for 20 years for the Hayward School District.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Mashburn; and three sisters, Naomi, Virginia and Wanda.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Euleta Mashburn; a daughter, Cathy Moreno of Newark, a sister, Reba of Arkansas, four brothers, Gilbert and Gilroy of California, and Russell and Donald of Arkansas; and two grandchildren, Elena and Kristina Moreno of Newark.

Van Mashek, aged 94, of Dardanelle died Monday at his home. He was a native of Czechoslovakia and came to the United States when he was eight years old. He was a retired farmer and a Roman Catholic.

Carolyn Damon Mason, age 59 of Centerville, died Friday, March 14, 2003, at her home. She was born August 25, 1943, in Ola, Arkansas to the late Leslie and Edith Louise Kester Damon. She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and a retired cook for Mima's Cafe in Ola.

Mason, Floyd

Highway Worker Killed by Truck - Floyd Mason, 44, a truck driver for the State Highway Dept. was killed in an accident near Danville about noon Monday. Mason lived in Russellville.

The accident occurred about two miles east of Danville on Highway 10, where crews were re-surfacing the road. A dump truck loaded with five tons of pea gravel, backed over Mason. Mason was apparently walking east, the same direction in which the truck was backing up, and failed to hear the truck until just before it hit him. He turned toward the truck but was unable to get out of the way. He died a few minutes later. The driver of the truck and other crewmembers did not see Mason until after he was run over. According to workers, the truck was moving very slowly. C. R. George, deputy prosecuting attorney, said after investigating the accident, that no charges would be filed. Massie, Hubert Hairl

DARDANELLE - Hubert Hairl Massie, age 60, of Dardanelle died Thursday, February 12, 1987 at Dardanelle Hospital. He was an employee of Satterfield Lumber Co. He was a native of Lexington, Tenn. and a member of the Falling Water Pentecostal Church near Pelsor.

Survivors include his wife, Ella Adney Massie; four sons, Hairl Massie of Wynne, Dwane Massie of Conway, Rickey Mahan of London and Larry Don Massey of Georgia; four daughters, Debbie Joyce Williams of Danville, Marcella Kelly of Russellville, Joanne Owens of Georgia and Lisa Ann Massie of Atkins; two brothers, Coy of Pontiac, Mich. and William Jerry of Nashville, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

DARDANELLE - Erma Lee Masters, age 81, of Dardanelle died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at her home. She was born Dec. 3, 1931, at Atkins to the late Roy W. and Bessie S. Gray Judkins. She graduated from Morrilton Beauty College and owned and operated Masters Hair Fashions in Dardanelle for 50 years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution since 1982, being first a member of the Clarksville Chapter, in 1985 she transferred to the newly formed Persis Lovely Chapter in Russellville, Yell County Historical Society since 1978. She with several of the members were instrumental in copying and printing the cemetery records of Yell County along with the marriage records, in 1997 she was an organizing member of the Dardanelle Rock Chapter, serving as treasurer and librarian for the chapter, also she was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons, Thomas Masters and Billy Snider Jr; one granddaughter, Angie Lee Snider Haston; and two brothers, Huey Judkins and John Charles Judkins.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Glendon Masters of Dardanelle; one son, Glen Masters and wife, Pam, of Dardanelle; one daughter, Diane Snider and fianc , Roy Lowe, of Dardanelle; two sisters, Velva Stephens and Sue McCarty of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, Curtis Judkins, also of Tulsa, Okla.; grandchildren, Jason and Courtney Masters, Seth Masters, Angelia Edwards and Heather and Neal Moudy; great-grandchildren, Cady and Hadley Masters, David Williams, Alexis Williams, Jordan Myers, Deborah Haston, Matthew Moudy and August Moudy.

He was a Knighted by the Queen of England for saving 137 lives in Malta, and was a Knight of the Order of Saint John and a Acolyte of the Episcopal Church. Arthur was a beloved Father and Grandfather who will be missed by family and friends. He was a man of honor, loyalty and bravery.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Arthur Earl Masterson Jr.; brother Jim Masterson; sisters Wynonia Holmes and Virginia Ritchie.
