Cunningham, Loyd

Loyd Cunningham, age 86, of Plainview, Arkansas, died February 4, 2009, at the Dardanelle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born August 25, 1922, at Plainview, to Ervin Samuel and Laura Mae Cunningham. He was a cattle farmer and a member of the Plainview Church of Christ, a former member of the Plainview City Council, a former member of the Arkansas Cattleman's Association and was a United States Army Veteran of World War II where he received the Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, AP Theater Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, J. L. Cunningham and a sister, Lorene Farris.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Fretta Cunningham; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary and V. J. Cunningham of Booneville and Kerry Cunningham of Plainview; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Bob Rochelle of Plainview; a brother, Flavel Cunningham of Plainview; a sister, Willene Dale of Plainview; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

The funeral was a. m. Friday, February 6, 2009, at the Plainview Church of Christ with Mr. Bob Fallen officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Veterans of Foreign War BoyceWoods Post 3141, was in the Salem Cemetery near Plainview, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service. Active pallbearers were Ronny Bradford, Ronny Crawford, Jimmy Cunningham, Mike Cunningham, Joe Dishongh and Bobby Robinson. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. John Westwood and his Plainview staff and Dardanelle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Staff. Cunningham, Margie Rada (Mullings) Blagg

Services for Mrs. Margie Rada Cunningham, 78, of 125 Cottonwood, will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Cunningham died at 7:05 a.m. Saturday in Bivins Nursing Center in Amarillo. A native of Pinebluff, Ark., she had been a resident of Borger for 53 years. She was a retired dispatcher for Cunningham Cab Co., a member of Bible Baptist Church, and lifetime member of Kilowatt Home Demonstration Club. Mrs.

Cunningham was preceded in death by her husband, V.I. "Nig" Cunningham in 1976, and a son, Blackie Blagg in 1981.

Survivors include two sons, W.H. Blagg and W.K. Blagg, both of Snyder; three daughters, Mrs. Mollie Martin and Mrs. Jean McCarty, both of Amarillo, and Mrs. Ethel Mayer of Pampa; two sisters, Mrs. Meda Mason of Borger, and Mrs. Renda Jones of Orange; one brother, Raymond Mullings of Abilene; 23 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Cunningham, Michael Charles "Mike"

Michael Charles Cunningham, age 59, of Plainview died Tuesday, November 13, 2012. He was born September 25, 1953 at Russellville to J.L. "Smokey" and Mildred Cunningham. He attended the Plainview Church of Christ. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and watching his grandkids play sports.

He was preceded in death by his father and a nephew, Lance Cunningham.

Survivors include his daughter, Shanna Cunningham of Russellville; mother, Mildred Cunningham of Plainview; one brother, Jimmy Cunningham and wife Kerry; three sisters, Debbie Cunningham, Linda Spencer and husband Gary all of Plainview, Pam Dixon and husband Steve of Russellville; two grandchildren, Jacee Richards of Russellville, Carter Cunningham of Plainview and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was November 16, 2012 at the Plainview Church of Christ with Bro. Butch Gossett officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery in Plainview. Cunningham, Robert Chandler

Mr. Robert Chandler Cunningham, aged 66 years, operator of the Caddo Hotel in Arkadelphia, and for years a resident of Dardanelle, died at his home in Arkadelphia Sunday. He was a member of one of the State's oldest families, and a great-grandson of Dr. Matthew Cunningham, first Mayor of Little Rock. He was a Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Baptist Church. He was born at Clarksville, son of the late Judge George S. and Bennie Chandler Cunningham. He was educated in Dardanelle and at the University of Tennessee, where he graduated in dentistry. He was married March 10, 1915, to Miss Mattie Crow, of Arkadelphia. They made their home in this city for a number of years, later moving to Little Rock. Twe've years ago they moved to Arkadelphia, where they have since resided. Mr.

Cunningham is survived by his wife: a daughter, Mrs. Robert D. Lowry, of Jackson, Miss.; a son, R. C. Cunningham, Jr., ensign in the U. S. Navy; and two brothes, Dr. Benjamin L. Cunningham, of Little Rock, and C. A. Cunningham, of Blytheville.

Funeral services were held Monday in the Murray funeral church, Arkadelphia, by Dr. P. F. Naylor. Burial was in the Arkadelphia Cemetery. Cunningham, Susan Temple

Susan Temple Cunningham, age 53, of Clarksville, AR died Sunday, August 11, 2002 at Johnson Regional Medical Center. She was born October 15, 1948 at Clarksville, AR, the daughter of the late Carroll "Cotton" and Helen Harmon Havener. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, counselor at Ozark Jr. High School, Ozark, AR, member of Beta Sigma Phi and the Junior Auxiliary and she was selected to the Daughters of American Revolution DAR).

She was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Lawless.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Cunningham; a daughter, Casey Cunningham of Clarksville; a son, Brad Cunningham of Clarksville and a sister, Mikey Wiley of Van Buren, AR.

Funeral service will be today, Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Steve Wingo. Burial will be at 1:00 p. m. at Salem Cemetery in Plainview, AR. Cunningham, Theodore A.

Theodore A. Cunningham, 86, of Dardanelle, died Wednesday, June 12, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was born October 20, 1909, in Springfield (Conway County) to John F. and Alma H. Mallett Cunningham, both now deceased. He was a retired construction worker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dardanelle.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Claud Cunningham, and a sister, Mildred Reed.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Roberts Cunningham; two sons, Larry Cunningham of Dardanelle and Jacky Cunningham of Crow Mountain; a daughter, Peggy Talley of Garland, Texas; a brother, Homer Cunningham of Independence, Mo.; a sister, Jewell Boling of Springfield, Mo.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Cunningham, Vera Helen

Vera Helen Cunningham, age 86, of Dardanelle, died Saturday, July 26, 2008 at her home in Dardanelle. She was born November 6, 1921 in Leedy, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of the late Scott Rex and Vera Beatrice Clark Roberts. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dardanelle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, T. A. Cunningham; son, Martin Lee Segrestrom; great-grandson, Thomas Trey Lewallen; brother, James Roberts and sisters, Maxine Martin and Janice Forst.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Brenda Cunningham of Dardanelle, Jacky and Donna Cunningham of Subiaco; daughters and sons-in-law, Susie and Bob Merlo of Carlsbad, CA, Peggy and James Bennett of London; sisters and brothers-in-law, Orie Lee and George Craig of Little Rock, Dorothy and Bud Walker and Ila and Jimmy Lovelace all of OK; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

Services will be today, July 30, at 10:00 a. m. at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Rev. Roger Glover officiating. Burial will be in Brearley Cemetery. Donald E. Curry, age 68, of Havana, AR died December 20, 2008. He was a veteran of the Navy served in the Vietnam war. He was a truck driver.

Curry, Zena Dale

Mrs. Zena Dale Curry, age 85, of Briggsville, AR died Monday, May 13, 1996 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. She was born in Briggsville November 14, 1910 daughter of the late William and Mary Ladd Hunt. She was a homemaker, member of the Briggsville Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She was the widow of E. H. Ned Curry.

Survivors include one brother Joe Hunt and sisters-in-law, Mary Hunt and Imogene Hunt of Briggsville and several nieces and nephews.

Dora Lee Curtis, age 74, of Maumelle, AR died Thursday, October 14, 1999 in Little Rock, AR. She was a native of the Havana area, daughter of the late Mike and Estelle Craig Conley. She was a member of the Crystal Hill Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by, her husband, Troy; two daughters; two sisters; a half-sister and four brothers.

Dovey C. Curtis, 84, of Des Arc, father of Charles Curtis of Dardanelle, died Sunday, January 12.

Curtis, Ivy Madison

3 Year-Old Girl Dies -Investigation Is Underway- A doublewide mobile home that caught fire in Belleville early in the morning of August 15, 2008 was the scene of a fatality when one of the occupants, Ivy Madison Curtis, age 3, died in the fire. Belleville Fire Department arrived on the scene to find two rooms on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished according to Fire Chief Kenny Jackson who said the child was in the room where the fire began.

The other occupants escaped from the fire and were not injured. Yell County Deputy Coroner Kathy Gillespie pronounced the three year old girl dead at 4:30 a. m. The house was being occupied by Danny Furr and Holly Keeney Curtis (the mother of the deceased), and Ivy Curtis. Ivys father is Terry Curtis of Ohio. Chief Jackson said that an investigation into the fire was being conducted by the State Police and Yell County Sheriff personnel. Several hours after the fire, three State Police investigators, Bill Glover, Stacie Rhoads, and Joe Carter, along with Chief Jackson and sheriff personnel were at the fire scene. Yell County Sheriff Bill Gilkey and several other sheriff personnel and other officers were at the scene shortly after the fire was reported. CID investigator John Foster said the body of the little girl was sent to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy. Belleville had five units with 13 firemen and Danville assisted with one truck and 10 firemen. Also on scene was Yell County EMS and Entergy. Chief Jackson said he wanted to thank all of the firemen who assisted at the fire, along with the police, EMS personnel and coroners office. The doublewide trailer was located on Wilson Road in Belleville.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. Ivy Madison Curtis, age 3 of Belleville, died Friday, August 15, 2008 at her home. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Rita Gribsy.

Survivors include her mother, Holly Keeney Curtis; father, Terry Curtis; sisters, Claire Curtis and Katina Curtis of Plainview; grandfather, John Keeney of Plainview; and great-grandmother, Paralee Keeney of Danville.

Madelyn Ellis Curtiss, 87, of Dardanelle died Tuesday, February 8, at Dardanelle Nursing Center. A daughter of the late Capt. Jeff and Pearl Miks Ellis and widow of Lt. Col. Worth M. Curtiss, she was a graduate of Dardanelle High School and Saint Paul's School of Nursing at Dallas. She was an Army nurse, achieving the rank of first lieutenant and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, and served with the 124th Evacuation Hospital in France and Germany. She was an American Red Cross nurse for 40 years and was a life member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 3141, Arkansas Federation of Garden Clubs and Dardanelle Garden Club and a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Judith L. Bost of Dardanelle, a brother, Jeff Ellis Jr. of Newport; two sisters, Adele Crocker of Russellville and Emma Desilet of Concordia, Kan.; and several nephews and nieces.

Jewell Curtsinger, age 66, died December 2 at a hospital in Fresno, Ca.

Cyrus, Earline Fox

Earline Fox Cyrus, age 87, of Temple, died at her residence. She was born in Arkansas to J. A. Fox and Laura Haney Fox. She was married to Clyde H. Cyrus on Dec. 27, 1933 and lived most of her life in Cherokee. She and her husband, who preceded her in death on February 3, 1995 owned a Guaranty Abstract office in Cherokee. She taught history at Waller Jr. High School in Enid, OK. She attended Oklahoma State University and graduated from Northwestern University in Alva, OK. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and the PEO in Cherokee, where she lived prior to moving to Temple in 1993.

Dabbs, Lillie Ruth

Lillie Ruth Dabbs, age 81, of Little Rock, AR, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2007 in Little Rock. She was born April 11, 1925, in Carlsbad, N. M. to the late Granville and Bernice Castleberry Caviness. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family

She is preceded in death by her husband, Stewart R. Dabbs, as well as her brother, John D. Caviness and sister, Dorothy L. Caviness.

Survivors include her daughters, Carol & Fred Belote of Jacksonville and Melissa & Mike Compton of Little Rock, brother, Kenneth L. & Vanessa Caviness of Los Angeles, CA, three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were March 30, 2007 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Little Rock with Rev. John Flemming officiating. Dabbs, Stewart Richard

Stewart Richard Dabbs, age 81, of Little Rock, AR died Friday, October 31, 1997. He was born in Little Rock where he graduated from Little Rock High School, later receiving his B. A. degree from Hendrix College in 1937. After his involvement in World War II as a Captain in the army, in a tank destroyer unit, he returned to Little Rock beginning his career with the 555 Wholesale Appliance Company working there for 28 years before his retirement. He was very active with his church, St. Paul United Methodist. He succumbed after an eight year battle with Alzheimers at the North Little Rock Veteran's Hospital where he received the finest of care by the staff of Unit 1-D.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie Ruth Caviness Dabbs of Little Rock; two daughters, Carol and her husband, Fred Belote of Jacksonville, AR and Melissa and her husband, Mike Compton of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Lisa and Cary Belote, Leslie Dunn and her husband, David and one great grandchild, Nathan Dunn.

A memorial service was held Tuesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. John Christie. Burial of remains will be 11:00 a. m. at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Briggsville, AR Saturday, November 8, 1997. Dacus, Amon Dana

Amon Dana Dacus was born February 12, 1927 in Chickalah, Yell Co., Arkansas and grew up in Northeast Louisiana. He left this earthly life June 14, 2011 at age 84.

Born to George Ulysses and Bessie Dacus, the 5th of 6 children and was preceded in death by all.

Married 60 years, he is survived by his wife Laura Carter Dacus, 2 daughters - Cathryn Scroggins, Angela Hackney and husband Don and one son Stephen Carter Dacus and wife Sheila. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Amon was a signalman in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II, a graduate of LSU and University of Georgia with degrees in Agronomy. He had careers with Allied Chemical, Rio Farms and Thompson Hayward Chemical. Amon was a pioneer in green house tomatoes and in the sugar industry in the Rio Grande Valley and was the co-author of numerous technical publications. He also worked for Tropical Texas Center for MHMR and farmed sugar cane in the valley with F.C. Schaeffer and Associates. He retired in 1989 and travelled and consulted extensively through the world. He was a deacon and a life long worker for the Lord. In retirement he worked in Christian missions in Austria, Poland and Honduras and worked with World Bible School and Eastern European Missions. Memorial contributions made to WBS or EEM through the Longmire Church of Christ.

Edna Lee Dooly Dacus, age 87, of Little Rock, AR died Saturday, August 17, 2002. She was born November 29, 1914 in Belleville, AR to the late Dr. J. A. and Roxie Sugg Dooly. She was a retired registered nurse for the Missouri Pacific Hospital, a member of the Life Line Baptist Church, where she played piano for her Sunday School Class for several years. She was a 1933 Belleville High School graduate.

She is survived by a son, Robert Dacus of Little Rock, AR; a daughter, Robin King of No. Little Rock; a brother, Jessie Dooly of Batesville, AR; a sister, Ethel Yeager of Batesville; a grandson, Rick King, Jr. of Little Rock and a great-granddaughter, Stormey King of Little Rock.

James R. "Baldy" Dacus, age 79, of Perryville died Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Perry County Nursing Center. He was born November 25, 1935 at Mt. George to the late Rupert and Allie Gandy Dacus.
