Cox, Elsie Lou

DANVILLE - Mrs. Elsie Lou Cox, age 90, of Danville died Sunday, January 12, 1986 at Mitchell Nursing Home. She was a retired school teacher, and daughter of the late Jessie and Jennie Crosby.

Survivors include two sisters, Freda Hudson of Ola and Jesshazel McCollum of Rising Star, Texas; six grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Cox, George Washington "G.W."

George Washington "G.W." Cox age 94 of Dardanelle died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the Atkins Nursing Center. He was born April 22, 1918 at Delaware to the late George W. and Clara Epperson Cox. He was of the Assembly of God Faith and was a WWII Navy Veteran and a member of the Boyce- WoodsVFW Post 3141.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ineda Cox; one daughter, Rachel Cox; one step son, John W. Martin, Jr.

Survivors include his daughter, Nita Cox Jobe and husband Ed of Alexander; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Cox, Hollis

Hollis Cox, age 90, a resident of Steve, AR died Thursday, June 29, 1995 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born on February 22, 1905 at Steve, AR to William and Dixie Tidmore Cox. He married Jessie Sims on December 13, 1924 at Perry County, AR. He was a cattle farmer. He was a member of the Valley Home Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by one son, Earl J. Cox; one brother, Tom Cox and two sisters, Bertha Gossage and Hattie Hull.

Survivors include wife, Jessie Cox of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Edith and Bill Owens of Steve; daughter-in-law, Odessa Cox of Steve; three grandchildren, Bill Owens, Jr. of North Little Rock, AR, Cassandra Cox of Little Rock and Kay Cox Brucks of Steve, AR; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maude Spears of Porterville, CA and Cora Blackwood of Pittsburg, CA; one brother, Luster Cox of Ben-ton, AR; several nieces and nephews and several friends.

Ineda W. Midgett Cox, age 73, of Dardanelle, AR died Sunday, September 9, 2001 at her home in Dardanelle, AR. She was born November 22, 1927 in Vanndale, AR, daughter of the late Willie Levi and Effie Edna Meredith Midgett. She worked as a switchboard operator at St. Mary's Hospital and was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 3141.

Survivors include her husband, G. W. Cox, Jr. a son, John Martin, Jr. West Memphis, AR; two daughters, Rachel M. Cox, Jessie Sims

Jessie Sims Cox, age 98, of Plainview, AR died Friday, November 19, 2004 at her home. She was a daughter of the late Tandy and Nanny Jones Sims, she was born July 21, 1906 in Ava. She was a homemaker and the retired Postmaster for Steve, AR, where she served for 24 years from 1950 until 1974. She was a member of the Valley Home Missionary Baptist Church for more than 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Hollis D. Cox; a son, Earl Cox and a brother, Herbert Sims.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Edith and Bill Owens of Plainview, AR; a daughter-in-law, Odessa Cox of Plainview, AR; a grandson, Dr. Bill Owens of North Little Rock, AR; two granddaughters, Dr. Cassandra Cox of Little Rock, AR and Kay Cox of Plainview; two great granddaughters, Callie and Kate Brucks and two sisters, Faye Yates of Witcherville, AR and Addie Crawford of Hot Springs, AR.

Leslie Vernon Cox, age 88, of Dardanelle, AR died Saturday, August 30, 2003 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, AR. He was born August 22, 1915 in Delaware, AR to the late George Washington Cox, Sr. and Clara Epperson Cox. He was a lumberman and a member of the Delaware First Assembly of God Church where he served as a deacon and a trustee.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lee Cox.

He is survived by a son, Billy Ray Cox of Russellville, AR; a daughter, Norma Willems of Subiaco, AR; a brother, G. W. Cox of Dardanelle; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.

Marilyn "Rachel Cox, age 62, of Dardanelle, AR, died Thursday, November 18, 2004 at the Dardanelle Hospital. She was born July 4, 1942 at Russellville, AR to G. W. and Keith Malone Cox of Dardanelle.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Keith Cox; grandparents, George and Clara Cox and step-mother, Ineda Cox.

Survivors include, her father, G. W. Cox of Dardanelle; one sister and brother-in-law, Nita and Ed Jobe of Bryant, AR; two aunts, Jessie Blake of Dardanelle and Ella Rea of Conway; one uncle, Bobby Vandiver of Conway and many cousins.

Odessa Cox, 85, of Plainview, AR, passed away Monday, February 20, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of Mack and Effie Spencer, she was born January 3, 1927 in Dunbar, OK. She married Earl J. Cox on May 5, 1950. She was a teacher with the Danville school system and a member of the Onyx Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, cooking, bird watching and especially playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving nusband of 39 years, Earl J. Cox; and her parents.

Penny Annette Cox, age 49, of Dardanelle passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013. She was born August 17, 1963 in Richmond, VA, to the late Chuck Traughber and Ruby (Underwood) Traughber of Havana.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a grandson Owen Karter Radcliff.

She is survived by two sons, Barry Hunnicutt of Plumerville and Daniel Radcliff and wife, Tanessa, of Hector; one daughter, Ashley Hughes and husband, Justin, of Dardanelle; three sisters, Lori Essman of Havana, Becky Traughber of Havana and Susie Moore of Plainview; nine grandchildren, Serenity Faye, Mai-Lee, Karmyn Elyse, Kynsli Jayden, Darren Scott, Amie Nicole, Lindsey Marie, Aiden Michael and Kylee Leann and her significant other, Bobby Burris.

Ralph J. Cox, age 85, of Jackson, Mo. died Saturday. He was a retired construction worker and a Mason.

Ralph LeRoy Cox, aged 37, died of a heart attack, March 5, at an Independence, Mo. Hospital. He was a salesman for the Goetz Brewing Co. for 16 years. Mr. Cox was a lifelong resident of Kansas City and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the North east Masonic lodge, the Scottish Rite, the Ararat Shrine and Formoco American Legion Post.

Homer Cox, aged 73, of Ola, a former Yell County official and retired Air Force major, died Sunday. He was a veteran of World Wars I and II, serving in the Medical Corps in World War I and in the infantry in World War II. Later he was with an Air Force observation squadron. Mr. Cox also taught in the Yell County schools, served as circuit clerk and treasurer of the county and was member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Cox, Virginia Merdell "Delle" (Woodard)

Virginia Merdell "Delle" Woodard Cox, recently residing in Nashville, TN, died on Labor Day, Monday, September 7, 2015. She would have been 82 years of age on her next birthday. Delle was born on September 11, 1933 in Dutch Creek, Arkansas to the late Virgil Clifton Woodard and Annie Merle Williams Woodard. After spending her formative years in Arkansas and California, she married Billy Howard Cox of Huntsville, Arkansas, who was a chaplain in the U.S. Army. They were married for 55 years; raised four sons; and were stationed throughout the United States and Europe. Since grammar school, Delle enjoyed writing poetry, songs and nlays, mainly for self-expression. In 1974, she shared a collection of her poems in her book, "The Heart is Sometimes AWOL." AWOL is the military acronym for Absent Without Leave. Family and friends were Delle's passion and delight, second only to her devotion to God. She was an avid student of the Bible and always willing to teach the truth in love.

In addition to her parents and husband, Delle was preceded in death by her two brothers, Gerald and Eugene Woodard.

She is survived by her four sons, William Howard (Laura Taylor ) Cox of Nashville, Tennessee, Timothy Christian (Suzanne Eagye) Cox of Pegram, Tennessee, Thomas Whitney (Sheri Ferguson) Cox of Graham, North Carolina and Jonathan Marcus (Janna Bray) Cox of Fairvicw, Tennessee; fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Maxine Woodard Herring of Danville, Arkansas.

Cox, Virginia Merdell "Delle" (Woodard)

Virginia Merdell "Delle" Woodard Cox, recently residing in Nashville, TN, died on Labor Day, Monday, September 7, 2015. She would have been 82 years of age on her next birthday. Delle was born on September 11, 1933 in Dutch Creek, Arkansas to the late Virgil Clifton Woodard and Annie Merle Williams Woodard. After spending her formative years in Arkansas and California, she married Billy Howard Cox of Huntsville, Arkansas, who was a chaplain in the U.S. Army. They were married for 55 years; raised four sons; and were stationed throughout the United States and Europe. Since grammar school, Delle enjoyed writing poetry, songs and nlays, mainly for self-expression. In 1974, she shared a collection of her poems in her book, "The Heart is Sometimes AWOL." AWOL is the military acronym for Absent Without Leave. Family and friends were Delle's passion and delight, second only to her devotion to God. She was an avid student of the Bible and always willing to teach the truth in love.

In addition to her parents and husband, Delle was preceded in death by her two brothers, Gerald and Eugene Woodard.

She is survived by her four sons, William Howard (Laura Taylor ) Cox of Nashville, Tennessee, Timothy Christian (Suzanne Eagye) Cox of Pegram, Tennessee, Thomas Whitney (Sheri Ferguson) Cox of Graham, North Carolina and Jonathan Marcus (Janna Bray) Cox of Fairvicw, Tennessee; fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Maxine Woodard Herring of Danville, Arkansas.

Cox, Walter Wayne

Walter Wayne Cox, age 73 of Independence, MO passed away, Sunday, July 9, 2000 at Independence Health Care Center. He was born January 2, 1927 in Kansas City, MO. He was member of the Masonic Christian Lodge 392 of Oak Grove, MO, a lifetime member of VFW Post 340. He retired from the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers. He served with the U. S. Army during WWII. He will be truly missed by his family and everyone who knew him.

He is survived by, his wife, Ena E. Cox of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry W. and Victoria Cox of Virginia, Walter L. and Debra Cox and Kenneth R. and Cheryl Cox all of Independence, MO; a step-son, Randy Thompson of Independence, MO; one brother, Leslie Cox of Belleville, AR; one sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Robert Fowler of Belleville, AR; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Verna Fleming Cozad of Indianola, OK, formerly of Havana, AR, died August 7, 2002 in her home.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leon Fleming, two grandsons and a great grandson.

Bauman A. Crabill, aged 67, of Rover died April 19. He was a retired welder for the Missouri Pacific Railroad and a Baptist.

Crabill, Darius D.

Darius D. Crabill, age 92, of Decatur, IL died Wednesday, May 16,2001 at Lincoln Manor Nursing Home. He was born March 9, 1909 in Toms Brook, VA, the son of Samuel and Daisy (Bauman) Crabill. He married Lessie Faye Elms in 1939 in Hugo, OK. He was a member of the Decatur Church of the Brethren. He was employed by L. E. Meyers Co. and Illinois Power Co. as a lineman, before retiring in 1971; 60 year member of the I. B. E. W. He was a gentle, happy man, loved by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Daniel L. and Sally of Forsyth, James D. and Jann of Union, IL; grandchildren, Steven and Darla Crabill, Terre Haute, IN, Cynthia and Gary Davis of Decatur, Derek and Daren Crabill of Union, IL; great-grandchild, Cortney; three step great-grandson and two sisters, Amy Green and Mary Forrest both of Ola, AR.

Funeral service was May 19, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial was in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL. Elva Konkel Crabill, age 100 of Havana, AR died Sunday, December 3, 2000 at Legacy Lodge Nursing Home in Russellville, AR. She was born November 10, 1900 the daughter of the late Henry and Lora Lee Kyles.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Muriel Konkel and J. H. "Jimmy" Crabill and a step son, Jethro Crabill.

Lessie F. Crabill, age 93, of Decatur, IL, died Saturday, October 5, 2002 in Lincoln Manor Nursing Home. She was born May 24, 1909 in Ola, AR, the daughter of Drewey and Vida Azlea (Adams) Elms. She married Darius D. Crabill on July 4, 1939 in Hugo, OK. She was a member of Decatur Church of the Brethren and a member of Macon County Home Extension. She loved to quilt and raise roses and was a wonderful cook.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darius; four sisters and one brother.

Survivors are her sons, Daniel L. and wife Sally of Forsyth, IL, James D. and wife Jann of Union, IL; grandchildren, Steven Crabill and wife Darla of Terre Haute, IN, Cynthia Davis and husband Gary of Decatur, IL, Derek and Daren Crabill both of Union, IL; great granddaughter, Cortney and three step-grandchildren.

Services were Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial was in Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery, Harristown, IL.
