Mrs. Henry Clark, age 80, died Friday at the home of her son, Herbert Clark, in Little Rock. She was a native of Chickalah, and was formerly Miss Rosie Bernard, a daughter of the late William and Lucinda Dacus Bernard. She had lived most of her life in Centerville. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Centerville.
Besides her son, Mrs. Clark is survived by a half brother, Ray Barnard of Harrison; five half sisters, Mrs. Lester Parker and Mrs. Rodney Blevins, of Russellville, Mrs. H. S. Smith of Tushka, Okla. Mrs. Hugh Kendrick of Pottsville and Miss Leighton Bernard of Camarella, Calif. three grand children and six great grandchildren. James Kenneth Clark, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Clark of Earlimart, Calif. was killed when he fell down a bank in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. He was trying to save his younger brother, Clyde Wayne, who had fallen. He was take to a hospital but he never regained consciousness. He lived twenty six hours after he fell.
Surviving relatives include his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Clark of Ft. Jewel Clark, age 58, a resident of Atkins, AR died Friday, May 25, 2001 at St Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, AR. She was born August 5, 1942 at Etowah, AR to Robert and Ellar Lee (Barnes) Turnbough. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bell's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include, husbands Henry Monroe Clark of Atkins, AR; two daughters and sons-in-law, Palma and Lonnie Harris of Conway, AR and Debra & George W. Jewell Bernice Williams Clark, age 81, of Fort Smith, AR died January 25, 2003 in Ft. Smith. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include, two daughters, Lestine Adamson and Elaine Kitty Myers both of Ft. Smith, AR; two sons Chris Rebel Myers of Ft. Smith and Danny Garner of Edgewood, TX; a sister, Terri Ross of Pocola, OK; two brothers, Michael Cruz of Utah and Butch Cruz of Las Vegas, NV; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. John Anderson Clark, a resident of Yell County for 65 years died at Waldron July 2 at the age of 88.

Mrs. Kathryn Stephenson Clark, age 81, of Dardanelle, died Thursday, July 19, 1985. She was a native of Anamosa, Iowa, and the daughter of the late James Forbus and Grace Allen Stephenson. She was also a lifelong member and officer of the Dardanelle First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Owen Carothers and Buster Clark; a brother, Jessie Rainey; and a sister, Reba Helm.
Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-law, Valerie and Manual Rios of Dardanelle, and Lola Faye and Frank Phinney of Waynesville, MI; a sister, Sybil Autry of Dardanelle; step sisters, Clara Barnett, and Laitris Standridge of Dardanelle; four grandchildren, Phillip Carter of Blue Springs, MO, Gary Carter of Adrion, MO, Valerie Crossland of Richland, MO, and Jeanette Roth of Laquev, MO; seven great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and nephews and nieces.

He was a trash compactor operator for Yell County. He had been an employee for Yell County for over 27 years. He loved planting and taking care of his garden, as well as spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe Clark; sisters, Rhonda Finder, Lona Faye Byrum, and Naome Calvard.

Wanda Lee Hawkins Clark, age 82, of Havana, passed away Wednesday January 7, 2014. She was a daughter of the late James Alfred Hawkins and Beulah Mae "Barnett" Hawkins. She was a retired Administrative Assistant, a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and loved spending her time painting.
She is survived by two sons; Mark Clark and wife Connie of Havana, Arkansas, and Jeff Clark of San Diego, California; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Black, Lee Ann McElrath, Doug Clark, Jordan Clark, and Bryce Clark; seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Guy Lee Clark, Jr., and three brothers.

George Velpo Claud, age 53, died Sunday, August 15, 1948 in St. Mary's Hospital, Russellville, AR.
Services were held in the Belleville Methodist church at 3:00 p. m. Monday August 16th. The Rev. Billy Dennis, pastor of the Church at Belleville, assisted by the Rev. Charles Finch of Booneville delivered the messages. Velpo had been a member of the Methodist Church since a young man. He was a Veteran of World War I and saw active duty in France.
He is survived by his widow, Stella, a son, Norman of Los Angeles, California; a daughter, Norma Leigh, of the home; three brothers, Herman of Belleville; Rev. I. L. of Booneville; and Ewing of Los Angeles, Calif. besides a host of relatives and friends. Burial was in Russell Cemetery by Gardner Funeral Home of Russellville. Julius Kent Clay, age 83, of Ola passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at his home. He was born July 27, 1933, in Rose Bud, Arkansas to the late John "Kenzy" & Emma Vardell Clay. He was a member and deacon of the Ola First Baptist Church. He was a retired Air Force Vietnam Veteran and he also retired from Deltic Timber.

Francis Marion Clelland, age 75, of Chickalah Mountain, AR died Saturday, July 3, 1999 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. He was born in Waynesburg, PA January 3, 1924 son of the late Clifton A. and Elizabeth Clelland. He retired after many years of employment, from the Danville, Illinois Chicken Ranch. He served in the Army during WWII and Korea.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Clelland; a sister, Betty Cook; a grandson, Vittorio Fana and an infant daughter.

Baxter Lee Clement, M. D. 87, of 500 Beach Road, Indian River Shores, Florida, formerly of Plain-view, Arkansas, died unexpectedly January 9, 1993, at Indian River Memorial Hospital. He was born February 3, 1905, in Rover, Arkansas, and was a resident of Indian River Shores for 20 years after moving from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Dr. Clement was an orthopedic surgeon in private practice for 50 years, practicing in New Jersey and Florida. He received his bachelor's degree from Hendrix College, Conway, Arkansas, and his medical degree from the University of Tennessee. He was a Major in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II, He authored several orthopedic papers for medical journals; was president of the Florida Orthopedic Society from 1973-74; and was a member of many medical organizations including the American Medical Society, Florida Medical Society, Florida Orthopedic Society, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, fellow of the International College of Surgeons, diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, fellow of the American Academy for Surgery of Trauma, member of the Southern Medical Association and the Fort Lauderdale Orthopedic Society. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sue; a son, William Baxter Clement, III of Southern Pines, NC; a daughter, Mary Suzanne McCann of Indian River Shores, FL; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A private graveside service was held January 11. Dr. Charles Clement, age 74, outstanding physician of Yell County and a native of Rover, died Thursday night in the St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. A son of early settlers, William A. and Carolyne McCall Clement, he was born at Rover and began his career as a physician in 1896, following his graduation from Vanderbilt Medical College, Nashville, Tenn. He was married to Miss Ada Bell Fry at Rover in 1901. Mrs. Clement survives him. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Rover, a Mason and was a member of the Armita Grotto in Ft. Smith.

O. L. Clement, 89, of Eugene, Oregon, died last week at his home. He moved to Fourche Valley at an early age, living at Gravelly, Bluffton and Rover. He attended school at Rover and Belleville, also at Hendrix College at Conway. He worked in banks at Dardanelle, Ola and Danville; was a member of the Legislature for Yell County, was a member of the constitutional convention, assistant county clerk, school superintendent and surveyor while in Yell County. He was first married to Ada McCarrell of Danville; and later to Vinia Littlejohn, a sister of the late Mrs. John Chambers Sr.

Omer D. Clement, age 39, died Tuesday morning at the Danville Clinic following a short illness. Mr. Clement had arrived here Friday night from Tipton, Calif. to visit relatives, and was ill upon his arrival.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters in California; three sisters, Mrs. John Garner of Pine Bluff, Mrs. Paul Sanders and Hattie Clement of Danville and his mother, Mrs. Laura Clement of Danville.

Oscar Lee Clement, Jr. age 89, of Junction City, Ore. a native of Danville, died Wednesday, February 11, 2004. He was born October 8, 1914, he was the son of the late Oscar Lee Sr. and Vinia Pearl Littlejohn Clement, a graduate of Springfield, (Ore. High School and an Army veteran of World War II, receiving the Bronze Star. He was a mechanic in the timber industry working for Loggers Contractors Inc.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louella Clement.
Survivors include a brother, Charles Clement of Redmond, Ore. three sisters, Ina Hamer of Redmond, Wash. Selma Rees of Eugene, Ore. and Carolyn Rose of Rathdrum, Idaho; and several nephews and nieces.

Sarah Clement, age 24, of Birmingham, AL, formerly of Russellville, AR, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, December 29, 2006 in Birmingham. The daughter of John and Jan McColl Clement, she was born May 9, 1982 in Clarksville. She was an outstanding athlete, and was a member of the Russellville High School varsity basketball, varsity track and varsity golf team. She was named to the Arkansas AllState Girls Basketball and Track Teams in both her junior and senior years in high school. She graduated with highest honors from Russellville High School in 2000 and was admitted to the RHS Athletic Hall of Fame that same year. She was further honored by RHS with the establishment of the RHS Sarah Clement Women's Athletic Sportsmanship Award, to be awarded annually beginning in 2006. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish National Honor Society and she was a finalist in the Russellville Rotary Club's Young Person of the Year. She received the Arkansas Activities Association's Active Scholar Award in 2000 and Tyson's Achievement Award in 2000. She enjoyed mentoring younger athletes and served as a camp counselor and referee at the Arkansas Tech University Women's Basketball summer camps in 2000-2003. Sarah realized the importance of academics and also tutored RHS students in calculus, chemistry and English. Sarah's volunteer spirit was rooted in her spirituality and was evidenced in her work with the Campus Outreach at the Summer Beach Project in 2001, the Appalachian Service Summer Mission Project Trips in 1998-2000. She participated in Relay For Life and was a Special Olympics softball coach. She received her bachelor of science in pre-medicine in 2005 from Samford University in Birmingham. She was a member of the Samford University varsity basketball team and the varsity track team from 2000-2005 and was Team Captain for the Samford Women's Basketball Team in 2004-2005. She was a member of the university Student Athlete Advisory Committee from 2001-2005. She continues to hold the Samford University discus record in track. Saran was named to the All-Trans Atlantic Athletic Conference in Track in 2001, the Academic All-Atlantic Athletic Conference in 2001, the Academic All-Athletic Sun Conference in 2002-2003 and the Academic All-Ohio Valley Conference in 2002-2003. She continued her volunteer work while working on her degree from Samford. She worked as a reading coach with Edgewood Elementary students in Homewood, Alabama and served as a mentor to Oak Mountain, Alabama students. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and Lambda Delta Honor Society and Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society. She was also a member of the Samford University Fellowship of Christian Athletes. During the summer of 2004 Sarah worked at Southeastern Orthotics and Prosthetics in Chattanooga assisting patients in the fit and production of custom orthotics. Beginning in June of 2005 she began work as a radiation therapy attendant at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham in the radiation oncology department. Sarah was planning to start physical therapy school at UAB next week. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Russellville and attended Church of the Highlands in Mountain Brook, Alabama.
She was preceded by her paternal grandparents, W. J. and Thelma Clement and maternal grandfather, Allan C. McColl.
She is survived by her parents, John and Jan Clement, Russellville; two sisters a brother-in-law, Meghan Clement, Orlando, FL and Amy (Clement) and Gordon Sasser of Prairie Grove; maternal grandmother, Ernestine McColl of Chattanooga, TN; aunts and uncles, Ginny and John Nevins, Atlanta, GA; Bruce and Lynn McColl, Tuscaloosa, AL, Mike McColl, Chattanooga, TN, Mark and Margarent McColl, Birmingham, AL; a nephew, Louis Sasser, Prairie Grove; nine first cousins; extended family, William and Elizabeth Iraheta and their children, Jacqueline, Chris, Erica and Sarah of Danville.
Funeral will be at 10 am Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at First United Methodist Church in Russellville. Burial will be at Hunt's Chapel at Rover, AR by Humphrey Funeral Service. Thelma Webb Clement, age 91, of Dardanelle, AR died Saturday night, March 31, 2001 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born December 5, 1909 at Hillsboro, TX, daughter of the late Sydney P. and Mamie Cheatham Webb. She was a retired vice-president and member of the board of directors of First State of Plainview, former owner of Clement Insurance Agency and licensed property and casualty insurance agent. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Dardanelle, Dardanelle Garden Club and Dardanelle Book Club and formerly a member of the board of directors of Bay Ridge Boat and Golf Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W. J. Clement; a sister, Pauline Lightsey and two brothers, Joe T. and Syndey Webb.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Jan Clement of Russellville, AR; three granddaughters, Amy and Gordon Sasser of Tucson, AZ, Meghan Clement of Tuscaloosa, AL and Sarah Clement of Russellville, AR; two sisters-in-law, Katherine Webb of Garland, TX and Mildred Clement Johnson of Asheville, NC and several nieces and nephews.

William John (Jay) Clement, age 68 of Dardanelle, died Tuesday, October 8th at Ola, He was the president and Chairman of the Board of First State Bank Plainview and Ola, Chairman of the Board of the Dardanelle Industries, past President of the Bank Administrative Institute of Central, Arkansas, Charter Member of, the Dardanelle Rotary Club, a 32 Mason and a member of the Methodist Church. He was the son of the late Dr. C. B. and Ada Fry Clement. Mr. Clement first started in banking in 1961. He was named President and Chairman in 1963. He was born and raised in Rover, and was a life-long president in Yell County.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Thelma Webb Clement; one son, John Clement of Rover; one brother, C. B. Clement of Memphis and one sister, Mildred Johnson of Alabama; one step-son, William Croom of Dardanelle; one step-daughter, Mrs. Mary Gordan of Memphis, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at the Cornwell Chapel Thursday at 2 o clock with the Rev. Frank demons officiating. Interment was at the Rover Cemetery. Barbara Jean Patton Clements, age 73, of Waldron, AR died Saturday, July 27, 2002 in Waldron. She was a retired Registered Nurse, a Methodist, member of the Eastern Star and an Artist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Clements.

Eugene E. Clements, age 73 of Plainview, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock. He was born May 1, 1937 in Little Rock, AR to Wilburn and Monteen Tarkington Clements. He was a member of the Jesus Name Pentecostal Church.
He is preceded in death by his father, Wilburn Clements.
