Ira "Pet" Baker, age 88, of Danville, AR died Thursday, June 26, 2003 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. He was born December 10, 1914 in Danville, AR to the late Arthur Jackson and Willie Kennon Baker. He was a retired Quality Control supervisor for a Brewery Manufacturer, a WW II Army Veteran, member of the North Little Rock Protective Order of Elk's Lodge, Danville Lion's Club, very interested in the Senior Center, and enjoyed playing dominos.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Ernest and Arthur Baker.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Whiteside Baker; a sister, Mary Faye Baker of Danville, AR; step-daughter, Judith Dimodana of Phoenix, AZ; a niece, Katie Warren of Reno, NV and very special cousins.
Funeral service was June 30, 2003 at the Danville First Baptist Church. Interment was in the Old Danville Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville, AR. He was born in Malvern and was the oldest son of Alonzo and Eva Parnell Baker. He was a retired dry cleaner and he and his wife operated Bakers' Cleaners in Dardanelle for 37 years. He was a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Bright Star Lodge No. 213.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Petray Baker; a son, Thomas Linley Baker of Dardanelle; a daughter, Barbara Baker Meek of Russellville; a grandson, James S. Meek of Little Rock; three granddaughters, Deborah Meek Smith, of Houston, Texas, Lori Baker Murdock of Russellville and Betsy Baker Case of Dardanelle; a sister, Pearl Baker Oates of Conway; a great-grandson, Mark Daniel Case of Dardanelle; a son-in-law, Carroll S. Meek, and a daughter-in-law, Kay Warren Baker.

John Curtis Baker, age 69, of Dardanelle, AR died Sunday, August 31, 1997 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was born October 12, 1927 in Cove, AR. He was a retired carpenter and was employed by Russellville Schools for 17 years.

John H. Baker, age 79, of Plainview, AR died Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. He was born April 28, 1924 in Ola, AR to the late Author L. and Nettie M. Carrie Baker. He was an Army Veteran and he retired as refrigeration maintenance from Tyson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie J. Baker; one brother, Ed Baker and a stepson Bobby Harvell.

Cathryne Baker, 88, of Russellville, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, May 28, 2015 at River Valley Assisted Living in Russellville. The daughter of Henry and Mae Tucker Eoff, she was born March 20, 1927 in Pottsville. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Pisgah Cemetery Association. Cathryne was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church in Pottsville. She enjoyed being around her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her granddogs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. "J.D." Baker; her parents; and numerous siblings.
Survivors include her son, John Charles Baker of The Colony, TX; daughter, Marla Baker Fryer Nicksic of Santa Monica, CA; granddaughter, Stephanie A. Mrs. Ethel Clement Baldwin, age 93, of HOT SPRINGS, formerly of Russellville, died Saturday. Mrs. Baldwin was a member of Russellville Culture Club and First United Methodist Church, Russellville.
Graveside service will be at 2 p. m. Monday at Oakland Cemetery, Russellville. Burial will be by Shinn Funeral Home, Russellville.

Louise Baldwin, age 90, a resident of Russellville, AR formerly of Dardanelle, AR died Thursday, June 1, 2000 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center at Russellville, AR. She was born on February 26, 1910 at Dighton, KS to Alex and Della Zink Dutoit. She was a homemaker and the widow of William H. Baldwin. She was a member of the Dardanelle First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by, a son, Donald L. Baldwin; a grandchild, Scott Baldwin and three step-grandchildren.
Survivors include, six sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Edna Baldwin of Russellville, AR, Robert E. and Ann Baldwin of Lakeland, FL, Jim M. and Neta Jean Baldwin of Ft. Smith, AR, William H. Jr. and Mary Ann Baldwin of Bay Cliff, TX, Clifford A. and Sharron Baldwin of Porter, TX and Roger G. and Sherrol Baldwin of Littleton, CO; one daughter, Betty L. Funeral service was June 6, 2000 at the 1st United Methodist Church at Dardanelle, AR officiated by Rev. Floyd Ervin. Mrs. John Balentine, 33, and her daughter, Ruth Ann, 1, died Monday in a fire in a small office building at a pole yard in Danville. Mrs. Balentine was a bookkeeper at the pole yard, which is operated by her father-in-law, J.E. Balentine. Her husband, John Balentine, works at the yard. She was working in the office, a 10 x 12 foot building which is next to her trailer home, where the fire broke out at about 2 p.m. The baby was in the building with her. One workman nearby said he heard an explosion and heard the woman or the baby scream. Other workmen saw smoke coming out of the building but did not hear any noise. They were operating equipment about 100 yards from the office building. The workmen, including her husband, rushed to the office and attempted to save the woman and baby. At the time, windows were still intact and the door was closed. They opened the door and broke out windows, but were unable to enter due to the intense heat and flames pouring out. The Danville Fire Department responded. Two other Balentine children, Sharon, 4, and Earnest, 5, were playing in the yard near the office when the fire broke out. They said they heard their mother call out. Sharon was on the steps of the office when workmen arrived at the scene. They put her and Earnest in a car while the fire was being extinguished. Another son, Herman, 7 was in school at Danville at the time. A coroner's jury, impaneled with Justice of the Peace Cecil Dale as acting coroner, held an inquest and ruled the deaths accidental. Freman Leon Bales, 25 of Ola, died Saturday, October 13, 2012, at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born on July 9, 1987 in Ozark, Arkansas to Steve and Susie Summit Bales. His occupation was working on gas wells. He was a member of the Ola First Baptist Church. He loved his family, especially his baby girl, Maddi, and loved to joke, laugh, and to go crappie fisning.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Freman and Laura Bales, Leon Summit, Paul Robison; one uncle, Wayman Bales; and a cousin, Andy Bales.

Clarence "Tooter" Delton Ball, age 89, of Danville, passed away Friday, January 6, 2017, at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born November 25, 1927, at Corinth to the late Authur Albert "Dee" and Victoria Mae Pledger Ball. He was a retired poultry farmer and logger, and also played semi-pro baseball. He was an Army Korean War veteran.

Funeral services were held Friday for Mrs. Ella Ball, age 72, who died Thursday at the home of her step son, J. E. Ball, Moss Creek. Mrs. Ball, well known as Aunt Ella, was widow of the late Rev. Mr. Ball.
Aunt Ella was ill only for an hour, her last words were, "Oh, my blessed savior." She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Flora Avery, Monticello; two grandchildren, Mrs. Opal Powers, Danville, and Mrs. Lebith Phillips, Brighton, Mich.; three great grand-children; four step children, Mrs. Mattie Wilson, J. E. Ball, Miss Sylvia Ball, both of Moss Creek, and Irving Ball, of Uvalda, Tex., and several step grandchildren.

Dr. Ball And Wife Die The Same Day - Dr. and Mrs. Irvin Ball, Austin, Texas, both died within two hours of each other Tuesday, July 4, 1950, following heart attacks. Dr. Ball was assistant professor of education administration at the college in Austin and was 64 years old.
He is survived by one brother, J. E. Ball, two sisters, Mrs. Wade Wilson and Miss Sylvia Ball all of Danville. Mrs. Ball is survived by three nephews. Both had been in ill health. Dr. Ball collapsed about 11 a. m. at his home. His wife died about 12:45 p. m. Dr. Ball was raised in Moss Creek community in Yell County.

R. B. Ball, age 74, of Danville, AR died Friday at Sparks Hospital in Ft. Smith. She was born April 26, 1932, in Iona, AR the daughter of the late Styles "Judge" and Annie Bee Outlaw Solley. She was a loving wife and homemaker.
She was preceded in death by a son, Frank Ball, a stepson, Roger Ball, brothers Don and Loyd Solley, and a sister, Zellar Alexander.
