Miss Sylvia Victory Ball, 74, died July 31, 1956. She had lived all her life near Danville and had made her home with her brother, J. E. Ball, the last 18 years.

Ball, Vadis Pauline

Vadis Pauline Ball, age 88 of Little Rock died Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at the Rose Care Nursing Home in Little Rock. She was born July 30, 1914, in Yell County, Arkansas. She was a retired sales clerk for Montgomery Ward, where she worked for 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Ball.

Survivors are sons, Aulton Ball and Michael Ball, both of Little Rock; 2 grandsons and 8 great-grandchildren.

Ball, Victoria May (Pledger)

Victoria May Pledger Ball, age 94, of Belleville, AR died Sunday, August 27, 1995 at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville. She was born in Belleville, AR, January 27, 1901, daughter of the late Tom and Mable Sadler Pledger. She was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Belleville United Methodist Church and the widow of Dee Ball.

She was preceded in death by a son, J.T. Ball, a daughter, Geraldine Howard, grandsons, Roger Ball and Frankie Ball and a brother, Wesley Pledger.

Survivors include: three sons, Clarence "Tooter" Ball of Danville, Bob Ball of Fort Smith and Pledger Ball of Danville; two brothers, Frank Pledger of Henderson, TX, and Ted Pledger of Nacogdoches, TX, and 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lena Hough Ballenger of Plainview, widow of Dr. W.E. Ballenger, died June 29.

Dr. Ballenger Dies Thursday-Dr. W. E. Ballenger, 79, died at his home in Plainview on January 7, 1954. He had practiced medicine in Yell County for 55 years, practicing until he was stricken on December 28.

William (Bill) L. Ballenger of Fort Worth, TX died October 16, 1979. He was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. W. E. Ballenger of Plainview.

Aubrey Gene Ballew , age 67, of Hollis passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 at his home. He was born June 23, 1947 in Morrilton, AR to the late Aubrey Lee & Collien "Sally" DuBose Ballew. He was an Army Veteran and a retired Federal Law Enforcement for the USDA Forrest Service.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother Ella Dean Brown Ballew.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years Susie Humphrey; sister, Marsha Ballew of Hollis; nephew Darrin Tillery of Hollis; brother, Jerry Humphrey of Fayetteville.

Ballew, Aubrey L.

Aubrey L. Ballew, age 90 of Hollis, AR, died Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Perry County Nursing & Rehabilitation in Perryville, AR. The son of Dick and Rosalee Norman Ballew, he was born September 7, 1919 in Ava, AR. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He was a Logger and member of the Plainview VFW. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Collien "Sally" DuBose; second wife, Ella Dean Brown; two brothers, Dick, Jr. "Babe" and Gerald Ballew.

Survivors include a son, Aubrey Gene Ballew and wife, Susie of Hollis; daughter, Marsha Wilson and husband, David of Hollis; step-son, Allen Brown and wife Theresa of Cherry Hill; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The funeral was Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Valley Home Missionary Baptist Church of Hollis with Reverend Jimmy Scott officiating. Ballew, Benjamin Earl

Benjamin Earl Ballew, age 88, passed away August 24, 2009 in Sutherlin, OR. He was born in Hollis, AR. He served his country in WWII in the USCG Merchant Marines. After being discharged he moved to Oregon and became a timber faller throughout the Northwest and Alaska. He raised his family in Oregon where he retired. His passions were farming, gardening, hunting and fishing with his family. His only regrets in life were that Oregon and Arkansas were not side by side. All who knew him remember Earl as being a very giving, loving and kind man.

He is survived by his children Pamela, Jo, Steve, and Brenda, all of Oregon and a sister Myrtle Crawford of OIa and a brother Everett Ballew of Hollis, AR., 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Everett Ballew, age 85, of Hollis died Wednesday, February 08, 2012 at his home. He was born April 18, 1926 in Marshall, Texas to the late Robert Lee and Josephine Martin Ballew. He was a WWII Army Veteran, a member of the Valley Home Baptist Church and Plainview VFW Post 8525.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters and grandson Gabriel Ballew.

Mr. Henry Jackson "Jack" Ballew, age 74 of Plainview, died Wednesday, December 30, 1993, at his home in Plainview. He was a native of Ava, Arkansas, son of the late Robert and Jospehine Martin Ballew, a retired logger, WWII Marine Veteran and a member of the Valley Home Missionary Baptist Church.

Laverne Ballew, age 88, of Perryville passed away Saturday, February 28, 2015 at her home. She was born July 24, 1926 in Plainview, Arkansas to the late Clois & Edna Wilson Dennis. She was a member of the Cherry Hill Freewill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry "Jack" Ballew; daughter Pat Ballew; parents; sister, Lavonne Martin.

Survivors include daughter & son-in-law, Martha & David Maxwell of Perryville; sister Mary K. Short of Winnsboro, LA and numerous nieces, nephews friends and family.

Ralph D. Ballew, age 74, of Birdtown AR passed away Friday, October 13, 2006. He was born May 22, 1932 in Hollis, AR, the son of Dood and Ida Jane (Crawford) Ballew. He was a self employed welder and a member of the Springfield United Methodist Church. He lived in Fourche Valley for several years and attended the Fourche Valley School.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Ingram Ballew of Birdtown; one son, Michael and Brenda Ballew of North Little Rock; one daughter, Glenda and Chuck Gregory of Birdtown; two step sons, Lynn and Sarah Farley of Little Rock; Michael Farley of Des Arc; one stepdaughter, Lisa Scott of Des Arc; two sisters, Lillian and A. J. Scott and Emolee and Ron Harper all of Redfield; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held October 16 at the Springfield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Watts officiating. Connie Ballinger, 62, of San Saba, Texas passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. Connie was born on September 30, 1948 in Waco, Texas. On October 1, 1994 Connie and James Ballinger were united in marriage in San Saba, Texas. Connie was a member of the First Baptist Church of San Saba and was a secretary at Alamo Pecan in San Saba.

Connie is survived by her husband, James Ballinger of San Saba, Texas; her mother, Bonnie Harkey of San Saba, Texas; her step-son, Jason Ballinger and his wife, Kim of Enterprise, Alabama; her step-daughter, Jaime Brown and her husband, David of Burleson, Texas; her god daughter, Marsi Shahan of San Saba, Texas; and her several grandchildren.

Ballinger, James David

James David Ballinger, 64, of San Saba passed away on September 28, 2013 in San Saba, Texas. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas on May 1, 1949 to his father A.P. Ballinger and mother Peggy Ballinger. James had many passions in life, he enjoyed entering in cook offs, and visiting with his beloved friend Jimmy Don Edmondson of San Saba, Texas. He was a proud member of the San Saba Masonic Lodge. He loved San Saba's First Baptist Church and the James David Ballinger New Hope Presbyterian Church in San Saba. James also loved spending quality time with his children and grandchildren and was given the opportunity to watch them grow. Along with his passions he was known as a hard worker, who worked for a construction company laying asphalt.

James is survived by his wife Mary Lou Ballinger; son, First Sergeant Jason Ballinger and wife, Kim Ballinger of Savannah, Georgia; daughter, Jaime and husband, David Brown of Burleson, Texas; step children, Joshua Carpenter of Waco, Texas and Brandy Free of San Saba, Texas; eleven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, A.P and Peggy Ballinger, and wife, Connie Ballinger. Memorial services for James David Ballinger will be held at the First Baptist Church, on Wednesday October 2, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. am Crosby officiating.

Balloun, Frances Amelia

Frances Amelia Balloun, 85, of Dardanelle died Saturday, May 29, 2004 at Doctor's Hospital in Little Rock. Born December 18, 1918, at Dardanelle to the late Joe and Elevenia Beran Klober, she was a homemaker, a member of Saint Augustine's Catholic Church, and the Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Balloun.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Bud Broaddrick of Little Rock, a sister, Lillie Ann Wilson of Magnolia; two grandchildren, Diane Broaddrick and Danny Broaddrick, both of Little Rock; three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Funeral was held June 1, 2004 at the Saint Augustine's Catholic Church at Dardanelle with Father Vince officiating. Burial was followed at Brearley Cemetery. DARDANELLE - Henry Louis Balloun, age 77, of Dardanelle died Wednesday, September 4, 1985. He was a retired farmer, son of the late Frank J. and Cina Wesley Balloun, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Josephine Pfeifer Balloun; a son, Irvin Balloun of Dardanelle; a daughter, Mrs. Lillie Jo Fugatt of Dardanelle; two brothers, Frank and Hugh Balloun of Dardanelle; a sister, Lillie Vodrazka of Dardanelle, and four grandchildren.

Balloun, Hugh Edward

Hugh Edward Balloun, age 80, of Dardanelle, AR died Thursday, September 6, 2001 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, AR. He was a retired employee of Arkansas Tech University, served 30 years in the U. S. Army and Arkansas National Guard, a lifetime member of VFW Post 3141, a long time volunteer of Meals on Wheels and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was born March 25, 1921 in Dardanelle to the late Cina Wesley and Frank M. Balloun.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry, Frank and Tony Balloun.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Martha Kate Montgomery Balloun of Dardanelle; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lynn and Sharon Balloun and Don and Yvonne Balloun both of Dardanelle, AR; four grandchildren, Derek, Teresa, Laura and Samuel Balloun; a sister, Lillian Vodrazka and many nieces and nephews.

Services were Saturday at the 1st United Methodist Church in Dardanelle with the Rev. Floyd Ervin officiating. Burial with military honors were at Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service of Dardanelle, AR. Pallbearers were Bobby, Steve and Irvin Balloun, Tom and Charles Sullivan and Jeff Montgomery. Honorary were surviving member of the Aleutian Islands Campaign of WWII-ANG 153 infantry Service and the men of VFW Post 3141 Dardanelle, AR. Mr. Jack B. Balloun, age 76, of Dardanelle, AR died Tuesday, November 11, 1997 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was a member of the Methodist Church, a retired security guard with Burn Security. He was born November 19, 1920 in Dardanelle to the late Joe and Dora Larch Balloun. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Balloun of Dardanelle; a son, Dan Balloun of Dardanelle; a daughter, Beverly Rambo of New Orleans, LA; a sister, Lillian Smith of Hiawatha, KS; three grandchildren, Dan Alan Balloun II of Dardanelle, Justin Rambo and Rex Clay Rambo both of New Orleans, LA; two great-grandchildren, Renee Ryan Lee Rambo both of New Orleans, LA.

Kate Montgomery Balloun, 86 of Dardanelle, died Monday, April 6, 2009 at Chambers Memorial Hospital. She was born May 28, 1922 at Briggsville to the late William Jefferson and Eva Bell Castleberry Montgomery. She worked as the Yell County Deputy Tax Assessor for 20 years. She was a member of the Womens Auxiliary of VFW, United Methodist Women, United Methodist Church, and Meals on Wheels.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hugh Balloun; sister, Erma Montgomery; brother, Fred Balloun.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Lynn and Sharon Balloun of Dardanelle, Don and Yvonne Balloun of St. Augustine, FL; four grandchildren, Teresa Balloun, Laura Conover, Derek and Sam Balloun; sister, Reba Mathis of Riverside, CA; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Lillie Vodrazka.

Sharon Kaye Balloun, age 58, of Dardanelle, AR died Saturday, February 14, 2004 at her home. She was born June 18, 1945 in Russellville, AR to the late Hazel and Bessie Sturdivant Greene. She was a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ and worked for WalMart in Dardanelle as a department manager for 15 years.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Greene, Robbie Partain and Linda Southard.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Irvin Balloun; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Jimmy Marple of Dardanelle; sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Jim Wood of Dardanelle; Kay la & Shayna Marple of Dardanelle and Malorie & Sidney Millner of Ft. Bliss, TX.

Service was February 16, 2004 at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle, AR with Bro. Ralph Weinhold officiating. Interment was in Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle. Pallbearers were George Brown, Stan Huels, Chris Hughes, Dustin Southard, Doug Shepard, and Chip Wolfe. Honorary was staff and employees of Wal-Mart of Dardanelle and the Dardanelle class of 1963. Frankie Jean Briggs Baltz, age 86, of North Little Rock, died Sunday, February 26, 2012 at her home. She was born May 10, 1925 in Briggsville, AR. After graduating from Draughan's School of Business, Frankie married George E. (Jack) Baltz on August 19, 1950. They were married for 59 years. She worked for International Harvester Company for 18 years and for Frank Lyon Company for 31 years, making lifelong friends during this time.

Frankie was preceded in death by her husband, George E. (Jack) Baltz; her parents, James Patrick "Budger" and Bertha Buford Briggs; one brother, J.B. Briggs.

She is survived by one brother, O.L. Briggs of Briggsville, AR; and a number of nieces and nephews. Frankie touched the lives of all who knew her with her smile, charm and wit, and maintained her sense of humor throughout her entire life. She was a joy to be near and will be truly missed.

Baltz, George Edward Jack

George Edward Jack Baltz, age 81, of North Little Rock passed away on Friday, September 18th, 2009. Jack was born on February 5th, 1928 in Springfield, Missouri to the late Al and Pearl (Krebs) Baltz. He worked for over 40 years as a salesman for International Harvester/Navistar. Jack enjoyed years of hunting and fishing in the states and in Canada. He was very sports minded and an avid Razorback fan. A veteran of World War II, he attended Immaculate Conception Church in North Little Rock.

Jack is survived by the love of his life, Frankie Briggs Baltz whom he wed on August 19, 1950 and spent over 59 wonderful years together. He is also survived by his brother, Lawrence (Jeanie Ann) Baltz of Pocahontas and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family, all who will miss him dearly. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Mary Lou Aynes, Virginia Bennett and Carol Sue Smith and his brothers Robert Bob Baltz, Dennis Baltz and Kenneth Baltz. and his in-laws, Budger and Bertha Briggs of Briggsville.

Banks, Charlie

Charlie Banks, age 52 of Dardanelle, AR died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, AR. The son of Ben and Cora Ella (Nordin) Banks, he was born September 22, 1951 in Russellville, AR. He was a graduate of Arkansas Tech University with a degree in Geology. He was a United States Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War and attended the Mt. Carmel Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ben Banks and his grandparents.

Survivors include his mother, Cora Banks of Dardanelle, AR; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert Wayne & Linda Banks of Dardanelle; a nephew; great niece nephew; several aunts and uncles.

Banks, Cora Ella (Nordin)

Cora Ella Nordin Banks, 94, of Dardanelle, passed away August 23, 2017 at John Ed Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville after being transferred there from Mitchell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center by Yell County EMS. Cora was born December 30, 1922 to John D. and Cassandra Flannery Nordin, one of ten children. Her London, AR schooling prepared her for a full life and enhanced her clerical skills learned at ATU in Russellville. Serving the military as a Women's Air Corp enlisted soldier during World War II, she interacted with women from across the nation. She worked in the photography lab. Cora married the light of her life, Ben Wayne Banks, March 20, 1949, at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Russellville, AR. She was the mother of two sons, Robert Wayne Banks and Charles Stanley Banks. Her time was occupied with housekeeping and helping Wayne on their cattle and chicken ranch. Her hobbies were flower gardening and quilting. She also took art classes and enjoyed painting still life flowers and other subjects. Interest in Yell County history became her passion in helping Wayne research its history as well as state history. She was a member of the Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church near Augsburg, AR, and attended New Hope Baptist Church with her husband for many years. As a member of the Eastern Star #589, she served as Worthy Matron and Esther primarily. Cora was a member of the Yell County Historical Society and a lifetime member of the American Legion post #20.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband, and son, Charlie; sister Cathryn D. Taylor; a brother William Jay Nordin; sisters Ruth Amanda Chenowith, Josie Evelyn Richardson, Laura Isabel Miller, Dorothy Elizabeth Nordin, Frances Doyle Gebbia, and Lydia Pauline Dacus.

Her surviving relatives include her son, Robert W. Banks (Linda); a grandson, Ben Thomas Banks; a great granddaughter, Bethany Cheyenne Banks; a great grandson, Clayton Thomas Banks; a sister, Mary Naomi Newborn and several nephews and nieces will miss her in passing. In her twilight years, she often related stories of her life. Those stories will be sorely missed as well as her presence. The family wishes to express our appreciation to Dr. Keith Ison, Dr. Thomas Snead, the staff of Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center, John Ed Chambers Memorial Hospital, and Mitchell Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Danville, AR.

Funeral Service was held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 25, 2017 at Humphrey Funeral Chapel in Russellville. Rev. Jared Higgingbotham and Rev. Don Irwin officiated. Burial was at New Hope Cemetery in Dardanelle by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation was from 1:00 PM until service time, on Friday at the funeral home.
