Harold J. "Jack" Bagwell, age 68, of Mt. George died Saturday, May 28 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. He was born March 4, 1943 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Seaburn and Ruby Bagwell. He was a 1961 graduate of Ola High School and a 1979 graduate of Columbia College, Columbia, Missouri. He was retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant, having served over twenty one years of active duty. His service included two tours of duty in Vietnam. His service awards included two Bronze Stars, (Ist Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal. (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), six Good Conduct Medals, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Army Service Ribbon, two Overseas Service Ribbons, three NCO Professional Development Ribbons , a Meritorious Service Medal and a National Defense Service Medal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers. Bill Bagwell, Darrell Bagwell and Loyd Bagwell and his father-in- law, Edwin C. Ellerman.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Diane Ellerman Bagwell; nephews and nieces, Debbie Bagwell, Laurie Bagwell, Steve Bagwell, Bryan Bagwell; mother-in-law, Clara Ellerman; aunt, Jessie Mae Reece; cousins, Choate Reece, Shirley Gooch, Buddy Reece, Ink Reece and a host of other family and friends.
Services will be Wednesday, June 1, 1 PM at the Mt. George Church of Christ with Brother Chris George officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 11:30 AM until 1 PM before the service. Alice M. Bailey, age 82, of Ola died Friday, June 20, 1986 at St. Marys Hospital. She was a native of Delaware and a housewife.
Survivors include her husband, C M. Bailey of Ola; a brother, O. M. Stinnett; five stepchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Billy Earl Bailey age 67 of Havana died Monday, October 17, 2011 at his home. He was born October 3, 1944 at Searcy to Earl Dewitt and Mamie Irene House Bailey. He was a great father and grandfather, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and he loved driving his truck across the United States from coast to coast for over 30 years. He loved the Razorbacks.
He was preceded in death by his mother.

Evelyn Bailey 78 of Dardanelle died Thursday July 19, 2001 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. Born September 16, 1922 in Delaware, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Millard and Nellie Roberson Wood. She worked in many facets of newspaper production for both the Post Dispatch and the Arkansas Democrat. She was a member of the Dardanelle First Baptist Church, a fifty year member of the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron, and was a charter member of the Dardanelle Rock Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Council Oaks 589 Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son Richard Bailey, Morrilton, a daughter Patricia Glazer, Lake Forrest, CA, a sister, Ruth Scarborough, North Little Rock, a brother, Lemoyne Wood, Delaware; grandsons, Richard "Rich" Bailey, Dardanelle, James Bailey, Morrilton, granddaughters, Susan Wegner, Laguna Hills, CA. Theo Bo Ray Bailey, age 80 of Dardanelle, died Friday, January 9, 2009 at St. Marys in Russellville. Born April 9, 1928 in Graham, Oklahoma, he was the son of the late Walter and Dona Davis Bailey. He was a truck driver, World War II Navy Veteran, member of the First Baptist Church, and a lifetime member of the Boyce-Woods VFW Post 3141.
He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Dona Davis, and his parents, Howard and Sylvia Bailey; and a sister, Lawana Bailey.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Helen Bailey of Dardanelle; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Paula Bailey of Mt. Home; daughter, and son-in-law, Nancy and David Rasmusson of Russellville; two brothers and sisters-in-law; two grandsons; two granddaughters and grandson-in-law.

HOT SPRINGS - Velma Madden Bailey, 100, of Hot Springs, Ark., formerly of Booneville, Ark., passed away May 29, 2012. She was born January 27, 1912, in Yell County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Bailey; her parents Thad Madden, Aldine and Fanny Farrow; a twin sister, Nelma Payne; sister, Aline Cale; two brothers, Leon Madden and Barnett Madden; and granddaughter Gina Bailey. "Vel" was a member and choir member of the First Baptist Church, Booneville, for many years. She worked as a sales clerk, medical clinic secretary and revenue clerk. During World War II, she loaded fuel at the Naval Station in Berkeley, Calif. During their retirement, Vel and Darrell enjoyed camping and traveling with their friends. After her husband's death in 1993, Vel moved to Hot Springs to be close to her son Ronald and daughterin-law Betty Jo. Vel grew up on the farm at Lower Spring Creek in Yell County and attended Danville High School. After her marriage to Darrell Bailey, the couple moved to Dardanelle, where her son Ronald was born. After a brief stint in the oil and gas distributing business during the Depression, the couple joined a traveling sales group. The group traveled Arkansas selling magazine subscriptions in a different town each week. They left the traveling group after one year and moved to Booneville in 1940.
Vel is survived by her son, Ronald and Betty Jo; grandchildren, Rhonda Keith and Steve of Little Rock, Ron Bailey, Jr. and Vickie of Hot Springs, and Jil Amaden and Brent of Carlisle; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Roberts Funeral Home in Booneville at 6-8 p.m., Thursday. Services will be at First Baptist Church in Booneville at 2 p.m., Friday, June 1, 2012, with burial will be Oak Hill Cemetery, under the Roberts Funeral Home. Virgil C. Bailey, Jr. age 76, Liberal, Kansas, died Wednesday morning, July 31 at the Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS. He was born November 4, 1919 at Nimrod, Arkansas to Virgil C. Sr. and Sybil L. Gladden Bailey. He was married to Katie L. Glasgow on May 19, 1939 at Ola, Arkansas, she survives. He graduated from high school at Ola, AR hi 1937. He entered the U. S. Army Air Corps and served in World War II and was a hydraulics specialist. He came to Liberal in October 1943 and was a miller at the Light Grain & Milling 15 years before he purchased a machine shop. Virgil was a commercial pilot and flight instructor, he was also professional photographer and loved to fish and hunt. He owned and operated the Bailey Machine Shop before retiring in 1984.
In addition to his wife, Katie, he is survived by one son, Gary Bailey, Winter Park, CO; one daughter, Doneta Dudley, Kansas City, KS; two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Western Avenue Church of Christ, Liberal, with Glenn Walton, officiating. Interment was in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Aline Petray Baker, age 93 of Dardanelle, died Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born January 8, 1910, in London, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Calvin and Annie Hines Petray and was the widow of the late Ira Linley Baker who she married in June of 1928 in Malvern, Arkansas. They were married fifty-six years. Residents of Dardanelle since 1940, they owned and operated Baker's Cleaners for 37 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Dardanelle.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include a son, Tommy Linley Baker and daughter-in-law, Kay Warren Baker of Dardanelle; a daughter, Barbara Baker Meek and son-in-law, Carroll Stickney Meek of Russellville; and a sister, Joan Ballard of Arkadelphia, AR; Grandchildren, James Stickney Meek of Little Rock, Deborah Lee Meek-Smith of Houston, TX, Lori Murdoch Garrett of Russellville, and Betsy Baker Case of Dardanelle. Also surviving are three great-grandsons, Daniel Case of Dardanelle, Ty Murdoch and Cort Murdoch of Russellville, and two great granddaughters, Ariel Smith of Houston, Texas, and McKenzie Meek of Beecher, Illinois, and she had many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were Thursday, February 20, 2003 in Brearley Cemetery with Rev. Floyd Ervin officiating. Arrangements by Cornwell Funeral Home Dardanelle. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Donald F. Hill, Dr. Gene Ring, the late Dr. James D. Sykes, Dr. Kelly Meyer, and Dardanelle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Staff and Employees. Bonnie Faye Baker age 71 of Dardanelle died Saturday, April 29, 2006 at Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born April 15, 1935 at Mt. Herman, OK to the late Robert and Mattie Burgen Speaks. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dardanelle.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Baker; two brothers, Earl Speaks, Alton Speaks and a sister, Violet Lewis.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Terry and Agalia Baker of Witt Springs, Paul Baker of Dardanelle, Claude and Debbie Baker of Ola; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Kathy Speaks of Arp, TX; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruby Barton of Longview, TX, Mattie Belle and Marvin Jones of Longview, TX; a sister-in-law, Vickie Speaks of Ozone, AR; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2006, 10:00 a. m. at Ard Cemetery with Bro. Floyd Ervin officiating. Bonnie J. Baker, 72, of Dardanelle, died Thursday, November 25, 2004 at Dardanelle Hospital. She was born August 18, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Robert Allen Baker, Sr. on December 3, 1958 at Las Vegas, Nevada. She was retired from Quaker Oats and was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Marion, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Baker, Sr. of Dardanelle, two sons, Robert Baker, Jr. and wife, Margaret of Danville; Randy Baker, Sr. and wife, Aline of Dardanelle; five grandchildren, Bonnie Baker of Danville, Randy, Jr. Joshua, Jennie and Timothy Baker, all of Dardanelle and one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Baker of Dardanelle.

Kittie Boles Baker of Russellville died Saturday, November 10 at Stella Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Kittie, a native of Dardanelle, moved to Russellville ater her marriage to J. Rankin Baker in 1946, where they raised two sons, John R. Baker, Jr. who retired from the USAF in 2005 and currently lives in Dardanelle, and Jay Keith Baker, a college professor in Dallas. Kittie's first job was as Dr. Roy Millard's office manager in his Dardanelle office before he moved his practice to Russellville. During WWII, while two of her brothers and her future husband fought overseas, she worked at an ammunition production factory near Texarkana. She enjoyed a lifelong love of music and was the organist at the Central Presbyterian Church for several years and was active in local music groups. For many years, she was an active supporter of local schools, sports, band and scout activities.
Preceded in death by her husband, she is survived by her son John and daughter-in-law Judi, son Keith and daughter-in-law Pam; four grandchildren, Catherine, John, Amanda and Hayden; and two great-grandchildren, Sofiya and Max. She blessed our lives every single day and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A private family graveside service will be conducted at Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Central Presbyterian Church with Rev. Brian Brock presiding. Plainview Man Killed In Wreck - Ed Baker, 25, of Plainview was killed in a car accident west of Plainview last Friday night. The accident happened on a curve just out of town on Highway 23 about 10 p. m. Baker, who was driving the car, died in a Russellville hospital about midnight. Robert Smith, 23, also of Plainview, a passenger in the front seat was critically injured and was taken to the hospital at Russellville. Two other occupants of the car, Bob Roy Knight, 16, and Richard Williams, 16, both of Plainview were not seriously hurt. They were riding in the back seat and were not thrown out of the car. Baker and Smith were both thrown from the car as it overturned several times. State Trooper Dickie Keathley, who investigated the accident, said the car left the road and traveled over 300 feet from the spot where the skid marks first appeared. Baker is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Baker of Plainview; three brothers, John Baker of New Mexico, and Victor and Paul Baker of Plainview; four sisters, Mrs. H. A. Edwin Dale Baker, age 73, of Conway, AR passed way Saturday, July 30, 2005 at Conway Regional Medical Center. He was born May 24, 1932 in Havana, AR (Yell County) to the late Ernest Lee and Ethel B. (Monroe) Baker. He was a retired inspector with the Union Pacific Railroad, a Mason and member of Desha Lodge #643 and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Baker of Haughton, LA and Raymond Baker of Malvern, AR one sister, Helen Muriel Moore of Conway, AR two grandsons and two nieces.
