Woods, Cedric Lee

Cedric Lee Woods, born on September 5, 1918 in Cleveland, TX to John Walter Woods and Georgia Shraeder Woods passed away on June 17, 2008. He retired from Exxon in Baytown, TX and was a retired WWII Army Veteran.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Ann Woods of Morrilton and a brother, Gus Shine Woods of Houston, TX.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Woods of Oppelo; sons, James Edward Rush of Cleveland, TX and Cedric Ron Woods of Shreveport, LA; sisters, Bernice Wheeler of Cleveland TX, Vera Mae Kelley of Beaumont, TX and a half sister, Nell Meadows of South Houston, TX and a brother, Earl Woods of Tomball, TX

Woods, Charles Fredrick

Charles Fredrick Woods,79, of Chula, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Tuesday, July 12, at Deerview Care Center. He was born July 28, 1936, in Chula, Arkansas, son of the late Walter and Eula Pearl Brazell Woods.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Walt and John Woods; 2 sisters, Vera Mae Savelle, Irene Townsend.

He is survived by his daughters; Sabrina Bates of Ola, Terrie Woods and husband Larry Barton of Atkins; sister, Dorothy Billingsley; grandchildren, Michael Bates and wife Rabia, Rickey Bates, Kayleigh Barton; 2 great-grandchildren, Brandon Bates and Alyana Bates.

Woods, Christene

Christene Woods, age 85 of Dardanelle, died Monday, February 11, 2008, at River Valley Medical Center. She was born February 5, 1923 at Piney, AR, to the late James Harrison and Amanda Viola Sandals Townsell. She was a U. S. Army Veteran and a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 37 years, H. K. "Tooter" Woods; two sisters, Irene Wallace, Gloria Burkes; grandson Michael David Crowe.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Lanita and Tom Bruce of Dardanelle, Hilda Wesley of Dardanelle; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Don and Lee Ann Woods of Dardanelle; sister-in-law, Delena Pennington of Dardanelle; brother, James Earl "Bud" Townsell of Jones Mill, AR; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren, and two more to arrive soon; several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, February 13, 2008, 2:00 p. m. at Dardanelle Church of Christ with Ralph Weinhold and Brian Baker officiating. Burial will be in Chickalah Cemetery. Pallbearers include grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Matthew Crowe, Justin Crowe, Clay Mitchell, Zac Wesley, John Sandlin, and Chris Tarte. Honorary pallbearers include the Ladies Bible Class, Rev. Cynthia Ann Woods, age 60 of Oppello, formerly of Deer Park, TX, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Saint Anthony's Health Care Center. She was born June 25, 1946 at Cleveland, TX to Cedric Lee and Annie Louise Ray Woods.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Annie Louise Ray Woods and her lifelong friend, Faye Jean Shepperd. She was a Christian and was employed by Arkansas Craft - Greenbay Packaging for 19 years.

Survivors include her father and step-mother, Cedric "Lee" and Virginia Woods of Oppello; brother, Cedric Ron Woods of Shreveport, LA; adopted son and spouse, Monte and Teresa Meadors of La Porte, TX and their children Nickolas and Cheyenne Meadors; numerous other family, friends and coworkers. A

DARDANELLE - H. K. "Tooter" Woods, age 60, of Dardanelle died Monday, February 24, 1986 at his home. He was a veteran of World War II, son of the late Bob and Hattie Gentry Woods, and was an employee of Wonder State Funeral Insurance Co. and Cornwell Funeral Home. He was minister at Bells Chapel Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Christine Townsell Woods; a son, Jerry Don Woods of Dardanelle; two daughters, Hilda Wesley and Lanita Mitchell of Dardanelle; a brother, Bobby Woods of Dardanelle; a sister, Delena Pennington of Dardanelle, and six grandchildren.

DARDANELLE - James Harrison Woods, age 72, of Dardanelle died Tuesday, July 22, 1986 at his home. He was a native of Ola, and the son of the late Rector and Anna Carter Woods. He was retired employee of Valmac Foods and a member of St. John's Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Verzener Chestnut Woods; three sons, James Obie Woods, Robert W. Woods and Waymon E. Woods, all of Dardanelle; six daughters, Lois Rushing and Maryanna Robins of Los Angeles, Calif., Juanita Hazel of Compton, Calif., Evelyn Dennis of San Diego, Calif., Ellen York of Morgan Hill, Calif. and Linda Oliver of Dardanelle; three brothers, Herman Woods of Little Rock, Milton Woods and Sherman Woods, both of Conway; his mother-in-law, Helen Chestnut of Dardanelle, 31 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p. m. Saturday at Cornwell Chapel by the Rev. Howard Landrum. Burial will be in Nebo Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 p. m. Friday at the funeral home. Woods, Jewell

Jewell Woods went to rest with her Lord God on June 20, 2006. She was born January 1, 1910, in Havana, Yell county, Arkansas, where she met and married Vernie Oliver Woods on February 15, 1925. They had eleven children.

Jewell was proceeded in death by her husband Vernie, Sons, L.B. Woods, Neugene Woods, Daughters, Anna Bell woods, and Virginia Woods.

Jewell is survived by her sons; Wayne, Charles, Darrill Woods, Daughters Ruth McAndrews, Darlene Hodges, Lillian Cottrell, and Lodi Neal. Jewel was blessed with 32 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren, 35 great great grandchildren and 3 great great great grandchildren. She was also survived by on brother; Boyd Rogers of California.

Services have already been held. Jewell has lived in and around Chowchilla since 1950. She had a great love for quilting and blessed many of us with her legacy of quilts. Woods, Lloyd

Former Resident Drowns in Fourche. Lloyd Woods, age 36, former resident of Danville, drowned in Fourche River at Ted Horse Shoals south of Tom Pugh's place, Sunday. Mr. Woods worked with the state Soil Conservation Service and was transferred from Danville to Paris less than a year ago. Mr. Woods and Joe Long, of Russellville, were said to have been in a boat running a trot line when the boat overturned and Woods, who was a good swimmer, apparently suffered a heart attack. Mr. Long attempted to rescue him and nearly drowned himself before giving up. The body was recovered in a little over an hour.

Woods, Lola Keener

Lola Keener Woods, age 84, of Siloam Springs, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2003 at the Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab center after a long illness. She was born on October 17, 1919 in Danville, AR, a daughter of O. R. Keener and Myrtle Harris Keener. She married Powell Woods on June 18, 1954 in Little Rock, AR. Before her marriage she was a 3rd grade school teacher, after she devoted her life to her family. She was a 1948 graduate of the University of Arkansas, receiving a Bachelors in Education. She attended the First United Methodist Church and the Rotary Anne Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Oswell Keener and one sister, Mildred Waid.

Survivors include her husband, Powell Woods of Siloam Springs, AR; a son, John Woods of Broken Arrow, OK; a daughter, Lola Dobson of Colcord, OK; one brother, Alba Keener of Little Rock, AR; 2 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Chapel on Friday, December 12, 2003 at 10:00 a. m. Rev. Michael Sutton and Paul Langley will officiate the service with burial following at the Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs. Verzener Bledsoe Woods, age 93, passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at River Valley Medical Center in Dardanelle, AR. She was born February 24, 1917 in Muskogee, OK to the late Monroe Bledsoe and Helen Bledsoe Chestnut.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James H. Woods; her third child Mary Anner Robins; her first grandchild, Carol P. Moore, her stepfather, Edgar Chestnut; five brothers, Forrester, Ed, Ernest, Obie and Raymon Bledsoe; two sisters, Alice Bledsoe Briggs and Zoley Bledsoe Jester.

Billy Woodson, age 56, of Dardanelle, died Tuesday Morning, July 1, 1986, at the Dardanelle Hospital. Mr. Woodson was a native of Belleville, owner and operator of the Woodsons Dept. DARDANELLE - Billy B. Woodson, age 56, owner and operator of Woodson Department Stores at Dardanelle and Danville, died Tuesday at Dardanelle Hospital. He was a member of the Dardanelle City Council, a member of the board of directors of the Bank of Dardanelle and a former mayor of Dardanelle. Woodson was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, former member of the Dardanelle School Board and former president of the Rotary Club. He was a native of Yell County and the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Woodson of Dardanelle. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of the church choir and a former member of the board of stewards.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Ruth.

Survivors include his wife Pat Rossi Woodson; two son, John Woodson and David Woodson of Dardanelle; a daughter, Elizabeth Woodson Stinnett of Little Rock; a brother, Carl Woodson of Belleville; two sisters, Wanda Scott of Dardanelle and Winona Jones of Waldron, and a granddaughter, Christina, of Little Rock.

Carl Woodson, age 92, of Belleville passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015, at his home. Carl was born June 24, 1923, in Belleville, Arkansas to the late J.C. & Ruby White Woodson. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Havana and a graduate Wentworth Military Academy in Missouri. He retired after 27 years as the postmaster in Belleville and was a lifelong rancher. He was a 32 degree Mason, and a WWII Army Veteran serving with the 6th division. He participated in three invasions in the Pacific.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Woodson; son, Philip Woodson; brother, Billy Woodson; sisters, Wanda Scott and Winona Jones.

Woodson, Louise K.

Louise K. Woodson, 86, of Amarillo, died Monday, March 3, 2008. She was born in Danville, AR to Joseph and Gladys Keathley. She married Claud Woodson on July 3, 1940, in Arkansas. She was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Mrs. Woodson also worked for several years at Deason's Cleaners. She was a talented seamstress and avid doll collector. Her family was precious to her and she loved and was loved very much.

Woodson, Marilyn

Marilyn Woodson, age 80 of Belleville, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center in Ft. Smith. She was born in Atkins on February 11, 1927 to Wiley and Ora Gamble Godbey. She was a retired Belleville Postmaster and a member of the Havana Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her son, Philip Carl Woodson.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Carl Woodson; a son and daughter-in-law, Kim and Pam Woodson of Belleville; two sisters, Dorothy Wiley of Atkins and Joyce Moore of Hot Springs; sisters-in-law, Winona Jones of Waldron, Wanda Scott and Pat Woodson of Dardanelle; grandchildren, Caroline and Scott Pearson of Pine Bluff, Philisa Ashley and Marshall Gattis of Havana, Lance and Anne Woodson of Little Rock, Angela and Amanda Woodson of Belleville; great grandchildren, Haylea, Kaitlyn, Tristan and Haven Pearson of Pine Bluff, Zach Hall of Little Rock, Zack, Philip, and Todd Gattis of Havana. Pallbearers were Charlie Bennett, Ronald Laster, Don Ridenour, Dan Lipe, Jim Wiley and Butch Smith.

Woodward, David Glen

David Glen Woodward, age 51, of Ola, AR died Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, AR. The son of Othel Glen and Rose Bernice (Jackson) Woodward, he was born April 10, 1952 in Russellville, AR. He was attending Arkansas Tech University and was formerly employed as a Security Officer with Deltic Lumber Corporation of Ola. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ola.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include, his mother, Rose B. Woodward of Ola, AR; two sisters, Glenda Young and Tony Fuentes of Russellville, AR and Judy and Dale French of Perryville, AR; three nieces, Amy and Roy Byrd of Claremore, OK, Lisa and Brad Hegeman of Conway, AR and Sheila and Kenny Howard of Perryville, AR and one great niece, Jennifer Hegeman.

Funeral was October 6, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church of Ola with Rev. Donna Alberts and Rev. John Zolk officiating. Burial was in the Sandlin Cemetery at Ola by Humphrey Funeral Service. Joshua Keith Woodward, age 21, of Dexter, MO died Sunday, October 22, 2000 at Regional Medical Center of Memphis, TN. He was born May 20, 1979 in Little Rock, AR. He was a bridge builder and house framer and a 1997 graduate of Plainview High School.

Survivors are, his wife, Barbi DePriest Woodward; one son Michael Alan Woodward; one daughter, Lily Cathrine; his parents, Monte and Sonja Woodward Hunt of Plainview AR; one brother, Dustin Hunt of New Mexico; two sisters Brooke Hunt and Michelle Hunt both of Plainview, AR maternal grandmother, Barbara Woodward of Lake Wales, his paternal grandparents, Monroe and Laveda Hunt of Plainview and several uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Woodward, Noel Benjamin

Sunstroke Fatal To Plainview Man - A 63-year old Plainview man, Noel Benjamin Woodward, died Monday as a result of a sunstroke in 97-degree temperature. Mr. Benjamin was working in the woods on his farm when he was stricken. He was a native of Plainview.

Survivors include his widow; a son, Othel Woodward of Ola, three brothers, J. W Woodward and Homer Woodard of Oklahoma and Woody Woodward of Plainview; a sister, Mrs. John Woford of Perryville, and two grandchildren.

Woodward, Rose (Jackson)

Rose Woodward, 87, of Ola, AR, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Hospice River Valley Home Care in Russellville. The daughter of Joseph Spencer and Mary Elizabeth Clayborn Jackson, she was born October 24, 1924 in Ola. She was the community news writer for the Yell County Record for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Othel Glen Woodward; son, David Glen Woodward; parents; and an infant sister, Amy Elizabeth Jackson.

Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Rose Young and Tony Fuentes of Russellville and Judy Ann French and husband Linzie of Perryville; four grandchildren, Amy Elizabeth Byrd and Roy Jean Byrd of Ola, Lisa Ann French Hegeman and husband Brad of Conway, Sheila Lynn French and husband Steve Daffron of Gassville; one great grandchild, Jennifer Hegeman of Conway; and numerous cousins.

Woody, Karen Ann (Gooden)

Karen Ann Woody, 61, of Russellville, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at the Atkins Nursing and Care Center. She was born September 16, 1956, in Morrilton, daughter of the late Manuel and Peggy Colleen Eakin Gooden. She was loved by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 brothers, Manuel Stephen Gooden and Scott Ellis Gooden.

She is survived by her daughter, Heather Woody; sister, Kim and husband Cailem Hon; nieces and nephews, B.J. Gooden and wife Brandi, Amanda Gooden, and Lacey and husband Daniel Coates; and numerous friends and loved ones.

Mrs. Maudie L. Woody, age 72, of Fort Smith, a former resident of Russellville, died Friday, December 26, 1986 at a Fort Smith hospital. She was a member of the Church of God.

Woolard, C. Floy

C. Floy Woolard, age 98, of Russellville, died September 9, 2008 at Russellville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of the late James Robert and Myla Ada Mullins Humphrey. She was a member of the Plainview Church of Christ. Floy was married for 59 years to William Clyde Woolard, who preceded her in death, May 27, 1990.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lew and Joe Humphrey; four sisters, Bernice Marie Danley, Jesse Humphrey, Wilma Sue Musgrove and Ruth Parker.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews and an unlimited number of children by the heart.

Amy E. Woolbright, died September 30, 1992; born November 16, 1907 and shared Oklahoma's birthday. Attended college, taught first grade and coached Girl's Basketball for seven years. Married Jim W. Woolbright in 1938 and has resided in OKC for 52 years. Amy was a member of St Luke's Methodist Church where she was active in Sunday School and the Sunday Night Group. She was member of various organizations including the Eastern Star and the National Pen Wits. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim of the home, and two sisters, and brothers, Viola, Nettie, Don and R. L. all of Arkansas and J. K. of Missouri.

Woolfolk, Retta (Fowler)

Retta Fowler Woolfolk, 71, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010 in Nixa, MO. She was formerly a resident of Yell County. She was born November 14, 1938 in Yell County, the daughter of George B. and Ada Bennett Fowler. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Nixa. She was a 1957 graduate of Danville High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Raymon, Rufus and Robert Fowler and sister, Ruby Ryan.

Survivors include her husband, Richard of Nixa; two children, Rick Woolfolk and wife, Keena of Nixa; Karla Riley and husband Jeff, of Rogersville; three grandchildren, Jacob, Clay and Gracie Woolfolk; and many nieces and nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews.

Pastor Kevin Chapman, officiated the services on Monday, November 15, at Adams Funeral Home in Nixa. Pallbearers were Rick Woolfolk, Jacob Woolfolk, Tommy Fowler, Jeff Riley, David W. Fisher, David B. Fisher, Jim Bryant and Larry Ryan. Honorary Pallbearers were Garrett "Clay" Woolfolk, Gracie Woolfolk, Degio Sanchez and Kinzie Doll.
