Wood, Calvin Lemoyne

Calvin Lemoyne Wood, age 82, of Delaware, AR died Sunday, October 22, 2006 at Dardanelle Nursing Center. He was born September 3, 1924 at Delaware to the late Millard H. and Nellie Roberson Wood. He retired after 35 years from the United States Postal Service as a rural letter carrier where he covered the Delaware and New Blaine area. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and a member of the Elizabeth Hall Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 27 years, Alyne Virginia Parker Wood; a son, Danny Lemoyne Wood; a brother, Harley Wood and a sister Evelyn Bailey.

Survivors include his son, Gregory Wood of Delaware and a sister, Ruth Scarbrough of North Little Rock, AR. The body was cremated and there will not be any services conducted.

Wood, Candy L.

Candy L. Wood, age 27, of Russellville, AR. died Thursday, January 21, 1999 at her home. She was born March 29, 1971 in Russellville, AR. to the late Ralph Flurry. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the Russellville Christian Centery.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Ralph Buddy Flurry, Sr. and her maternal grandmother, Evelyn Manns.

Survivors include her husband, Todd Wood; a son, Jarod Wood of Russellville; a daughter, Jacy Moro of Russellville; her mother, Linda Flurry of Russellville; a sister, Kayla Marie Branch of Russellville, and paternal grandmother, Bonnie Flurry of Dardanelle, AR.

DARDANELLE - Mrs. Donie Ophelia Wood, age 82, of Dardanelle died Sunday, October 14, 1984. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include two sons, Hobert Wood of Dardanelle and Billy John Wood of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two daughters, Mildred Laswell of Indiana and Becca Tucker of Dardanelle; 23 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p. m. Wednesday at Cornwell Chapel by the Rev. Bob Huie. Burial will be in Graves Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service. Wood, Dorris Mae (Blair)

Dorris Mae Wood, age 89, of Ola died Thursday, March 15, 2012 at River Valley Medical Center. She was born February 15, 1923 at Shawnee, OK to the late Loyd Calvin and Sallie Lee Gentry Blair. She was a member of the Ola Eastern Star for 56 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Paul J. Pershing Wood.

Survivors include her five children and their spouses, Paul Wayne and Betty Wood of Ola, Billy Joe and Estella Wood of Miami, FL, Judy and Tommy Bell of Ola, Dorothy and Bill Davis of Russellville, James and Mary Wood of Danville; one sister, Mary Ellington of New Mexico; fifteen grandchil dren; twenty six great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Erma Dean Wood, age 86, of Dardanelle died Saturday, August 20, 2016, at the River Valley Hospice House in Russellville. She was born August 13, 1930, at Needmore, Oklahoma. She was of the Church of Christ Faith.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 50 years, Walter TW Boyce; her second husband of 15 years, Hobert (Poppy) Wood; her son, Ferrell Lee Boyce and one brother, Orville Parsons.

Survivors include her son, John Keller; one daughter, Patricia R. Nichols (Louis); two brothers, Bill Parsons (Doris) Jimmy Parsons (Trisha); grandchildren, David Whitson (Brenda), Bryan Whitson (Stephanie); great grandchildren, Rylie, Morgan, Haley, Brandon, Chelsea, Colby, Cayson, Cylie, Asia Foster, J.D. Wood, Ernest Walter (Jr.)

Ernest Walter Wood, Jr. age 64, of Delaware, AR, died Saturday at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was born January 22, 1943 at Colorado Springs, CO to the late Ernest Walter, Sr. and Golda Imo Wright Wood. He was a member of the New Blaine Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Angela Dawn Wood.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Gerry Neilhouse Wood of Delaware; sons, Gary Lee Wood of New Blaine, Ernest Walter Wood III of Delaware; daughter, Beverly Ann Wood of Delaware; brother, Stan Wood of Conway; sisters, Joann Clay of Searcy, Charlotte "Tad" Peters of Russellville, Janice Highfill of Russellville, and four grandchildren.

Wood, Fern Dies From House Fire Injuries

Fern Wood, 65, of Danville died Sunday, January 7, 2007, at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock from burns she sustained in a house fire on December 26. She retired after 33 years as an Administrative Assistant to the County Supervisor of Farmers Home Administration-Rural Development. She retired in November 1996.

Services will be held Thursday, January 11, at 2:00 p. m. at the Danville United Methodist Church.

Danville Firemen extinguish a fire at her home in Danville but Ms. Wood received serious burns in the structure fire. She was treated by EMS at the scene, transferred to Chambers Memorial Hospital, stabilized and then transported to the burn center at Children's Hospital in Little Rock. No one else was injured in the fire. At the time of the fire, her husband, Bill Bob, was not at home, but in the hospital. See complete obituary this issue. Fern Lee Wood, 65 of Danville died Sunday, January 7, 2007, at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock. She was born January 12, 1941, in Chickalah Mountain, AR, to Newman Ethridge and Lille Jean Horn Sugg. She retired after 33 years as an Administrative Assistant to the County Supervisor of Farmers Home Administration-Rural Development and she was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Bill Bob Wood of Danville; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sandra Wood of Rogers; sisters, Mildred Allen of Belton, MO, Pauline Patton of Charleston, MO; grandson, Ronnie and Tamara Vaughn, of Rogers and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 10 from 6-7 p. m. Services will be held Thursday, January 11, at 2:00 p. m. at the Danville United Methodist Church by Rev Tom Sullinger with Rev. Hazel C. Wood, age 92, of Dardanelle, AR, widow of Lynn Wood, died Friday, January 5, 2001 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born May 3, 1908 in Crossroads near Subiaco, AR to the late Allen "Al" and Caroline Plunkett Hamilton. She was a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ and a homemaker and mother.

Survivors are a son, Bennie Ray Wood of Clarksville, AR; four daughters, Loretta Jacobson, Conway, AR, Georgia McReynolds, Slidell, LA, Ina Baskin, Atlanta, GA, Ima Jacobson, Dardanelle, AR; 17 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

Service was January 8, 2001 at the Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Bro. Jack Lawyer, Bro. Ralph Weinhold and Bro. Travis Jacobson officiating. Hazel D. Wood age 89 of Dardanelle, AR died Sunday, April 11, 2004 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born October 23, 1914, near Shoal Creek in Logan County to the late Oscar and Rosalie Berry. She was a homemaker, a member of Town & Country Garden club, a past employee of Fox Deluxe Foods and a welder during World War II building battleships for Willamette Iron Steel in Portland, OR.

She is preceded in death by her husband Leslie Wood, one brother, Ralph Berry and one son-in-law, Harold Kerr.

Survivors include two sons daughters-in-law, David Helen Wood and Jim & Joy Wood; one daughter & son-in-law, Emmelene K. & Ron Roden all of Dardanelle, one brother, Robert Berry of Delaware; three sisters, Rena Harz, Barbara Cossey both of Dardanelle and Mary Humphrey of Portland, OR; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and her favorite dog, Katie along with many long time friends and neighbors in the Delaware Community.

Wood, Herman

July 26, 1940 - January 2, 2014 KINGSTON -- Herman Everett Wood died January 2, 2014, at his home at Lake Texoma. He was the first son born to Ezra and Betty Wood on July 26, 1940, in Arkansas City, KS. At a young age, they moved to Danville, AR and later returned to Ark City, where he graduated high school in 1958. He then joined the U.S. Navy and completed a tour of duty. In 1960, he married Susan Ormiston in Ark City, and together, they had six children, Kelley, David, Mitchell, Leslye (Kacky), Michael, and Andy. They moved to Oklahoma City, where he worked for various construction companies before forming H.E. Wood Construction. He married Sandra Fleharty, of OKC, in 1980. Herman was an avid sports fan, but playing and watching golf was his favorite.

He is survived by four children: Kelley Lockridge, of Richardson, TX; David Wood, of OKC; Leslye (Kacky) Skondovitch, of Anchorage, AK; and Andy Wood, of OKC; siblings: Carol Maddy, of Wichita, KS; Cheryl Steiner, of Meeker, CO; Kenneth Wood, of Los Angeles, CA; and Connie Barnett, of Moore, OK; and eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Herman was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Willie & Doni Wood; maternal grandmother, Nancy Kinsey; parents, Ezra Wood & Betty Wood Vandever; and two sons, Michael E. Wood and Herman Mitchell Wood. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at 2 p.m.

Hobert Edward Wood, age 84, of Dardanelle died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at his home. He was born June 1, 1927 at Logan County in Delaware to the late Brownie and Donnie Higgins Wood. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a life time member of the Boyce Woods VFW Post #3141 in Dardanelle. He loved to play music, loved everyone and loved to laugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Terry Dale Wood; five brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Erma Dean Wood of Dardanelle, AR; children and spouses, Jerry and Barbara Wood of Hardford CA, Gwen and T.P. J. L. Wood, age 72, of Casa, AR died Tuesday at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, AR. A son of the late Jesse Andrew and Olvia Lee Harrison Wood, he was born at Wildcat Hollow in Logan County. He was a logger and saw miller.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil M. Wood, a daughter, Vivian Lee Wood Crain, four brothers, Paul, Wilson, Harrison and David Wood, two sisters, Mary Helen Wood and Melba Ruth Mitchell.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Jim Wood of Dardanelle; two daughters, Dr. Nanci Wood-Huels and husband Dr. Stan Huels of Illinois, Dr. Lesli Wood of Colorado and her partner Sue Schrader; two grandsons, Marcus Huels, serving in the Peace Corps in Mozambique, Africa and Matthew Huels, currently a geology student at Fort Lewis College in Colorado.

Kevin Wayne Wood, age 41 of Centerville, AR died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at St. Vincent Doctors Hospital. He was born May 9, 1968 at Danville to Larry Gene Wood and Margaret Elizabeth Hunter. He was a member of the Millright Union 216.

Survivors include his parents, Margaret and Howard Kimball of Russellville and Larry Gene Wood of Centerville; grandmother, Rachel Lytle of Morrilton; brother, Jeffrey Ronald May of Delaware; aunts Loretta Rainey, Brenda Newsom, Joan Hanna, Wanda Cody and Rachel White; uncles, Barton Hunter Joe and Carl Lytle; niece Angie May and numerous cousins.

Wood, Lela M.

Gravelly Woman Dies From Wreck Injuries - Mrs. Lela M. Wood, 66, former Postmaster at Gravelly, was injured fatally Monday when the car in which she was riding struck a sign post near Hugo, Okla. Mrs. Wood died in a Hugo hospital several hours after the accident. Her husband, A. T. Wood, who was driving the car, suffered head injuries. Wood told officers he struck the post while trying to avoid a collision with a pickup truck which pulled onto the highway from a side road. The car was demolished. Mrs. Wood retired this year after 33 years as postmaster at Gravelly. She was a Methodist and a past matron of the Gravelly Order of Eastern Star.

Linda Jo Wood, age 67, of Russellville, AR, died Sunday, October 21, 2007 in Little Rock, AR. The daughter of Thomas and Ruth King Willis, she was born December 7, 1939 in Centerville, AR. She served two years in the United States Marine Corps. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Russellville.

She was preceded in death by parents and her husband, Marshall Wood.

Wood, Lucy Jayne

Mrs. Lucy Jayne Wood, age 68, of Bluffton, AR widow of Perry Wood, died Thursday, at her home in Bluffton. She was born March 19, 1927 to the late Ira and Cora Wheeler Russell. She was a retired custodian with the Fourche Valley School District and a cattle farmer. She was a member of the Bluffton Methodist Church.

Survivors: son, Jim Wood of Bluffton; two daughters, Pat Swindle of Montana and Linda Hunt of Gravelly; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Wood, Margaret M.

Mrs. Margaret M. Wood, age 81 of Tifton, GA, formerly of Danville, AR died Friday, September 29, 2000 at Tifton Health Center in Tifton. She was born September 25, 1919 in Alabama, daughter of the late Howard and Lonie Wallace Atcheson. She was a mother and homemaker and a member of the Ranger Free Will Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon P. Wood.

Survivors include, three sons, Bobby Garner of Ft. Worth, TX, James Hollaway of Tifton, GA and Thomas Hollaway of Orlando, FL; two brothers, Hop Atcheson of Tennessee and Marshall Atcheson of Alabama; one sister, Elsie Griffen of Alabama and nine grandchildren.

Mary Nance Wood, age 56, of Danville died Monday, December 15, 2014 at her home. She was born July 10, 1958 at Peoria, Illinois the late Jim and Wilma Powell Gardner. She was a member of the Centerville Freewill Baptist Church, a member of the Eastern Star and she was a diehard Razorback fan and loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, James Wood of Danville; two children, Jackie Lynn Palmer and husband Wade of Appleton, Amy Jean and fianc Adam Rocole of Centerville; two step daughters, Wendy Jackson and husband Mike of Ola, Sara Diane Rye and husband Todd of London; three brothers, Lester Gardner and wife Doris of Alabama, Buddy Gardner and wife Jean, Taynor Gardner and wife LeiAnn, all of Marion; nine grandchildren, Annie Raymond, Nathan Raymond, Jaxon Arndt, Addison Coonts, Justin Jackson, Matthew Jackson, Payton Wood, Brooklyn Elliott, Emily Elliott and Nicole Rocole.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Centerville Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Sandlin Cemetery in Ola. Monroe H. Wood, 85, of Bluffton died April 22, at Yell County Hospital at Danville. He was a native of Chula, a retired farmer, son of the late Thomas H. and Kathryn Killon Wood, and was a 32nd degree Mason. He had served as deacon and Sunday School teacher at Bluffton Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hester Ann Worley Wood; a son, C.G. Wood, Nancy Lea

Nancy Lea Wood, age 97, of Dardanelle, AR passed away Sunday, November 26, 2006 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, AR. She was born February 2, 1909 at Knoxville, AR to the late George Washington and Emily Alice Sims Bowman. She resided with her daughter, Jane and Jim Bates for the past two years and prior to that she lived with her daughter, Lena and Frank Bates in California. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in California. While in Arkansas she attended the Chickalah Church of Christ where she was loved by many friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Dock Ray Rood; parents and a daughter, Ruby Page.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Louise Wood of Upland, CA and Don and Brenda Wood of Garfield, AR; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lena and Leslie Bates of South Elmonte, C A, Christine Amos of Omaha, AR and Jane and Jim Bates of Dardanelle, AR; 20 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be today, Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at 10 a. m. at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle with Pastor Eldon Thomas and Gene Littleton officiating.

Mrs. Olivia Wood, age 65, of Ola, died at the Yell County Hospital Monday, August 8. She was a member of the Ola Church of Christ.

Wood, Robert Laymond

Robert Laymond Wood, CW4, U.S. Army Retired, died Tuesday, February 26, 1974, following surgery at a hospital in Dolthan, Ala. He was a native of Russellville, [Arkansas] a Master Aviator with 27 years of service which included assignments in Alaska, Germany, Korea, and Viet-Nam. While serving with the Department of Rotary Wing Training, U.S. Army Aviation School at Ft. Rucker, Ala., Mr Wood received a citation for exceptionally meritorious service and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. In addition to his normal duties, he voluntarily performed extra duty to give methods of instruction and refresher training to others at the base.

Survivors include his wife, La Vaughn Littleton Wood; two sons, Robert L. Wood Jr. of Little Rock, and William Jerry Wood of the home; his parents, Grady Wood of North Little Rock, and Mrs Margaret Wood of Russellville; one brother, Don Ray Wood of Russellville; and two sisters, Mrs Lloyd Woods of Russellville and Mrs Charles Kopp of Richmond, Cal.

A memorial service was held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 28, at Enterprise, Ala. in the Chapel of Searcy and Brown Funeral Directors by the Reverend Leonard Woodward, pastor of Green Hills Presbyterian Church, of which Mr Wood was a member. A graveside service with military rites was at 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 4, at the National Cemetery in Little Rock. Burial was by Healy and Roth. In lieu of flowers, friends in Alabama and Georgia have established a Memorial fund with the Green Hills Presbyterian Church in Enterprise to perpetuate the noble qualities and Christian beliefs of their friend, Bob Wood. Mrs. Sybil Wood, age 74, of Casa, AR died Saturday, January 4, 1997 at her home in Casa. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse, having worked at the Yell County Hospital for 18 years, (now Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville), then she was at the Dardanelle Hospital for 8 years before retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Casa Assembly of God Church.

Sam Woodall, age 78, died December 19. Mr.

Woodall was married in 1883 to Lucy Williams and to this union ten children were born, the nine surviving are; Joseph, Milo, and Noma, Waltreak; Susan Bittle and Mary Morris, Oklahoma; Lilly Black and Erma Fowler, Waltreak; Ether Kitchens, Gravelly and Allie Lokey, Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. Woodall had been a member of the Missionary Baptist Church several years. The body was laid to rest in the Union Hill cemetery [Scott County] with services by Rev. George Beard and Rev. George Owens.
