Wise, Hazel Vera Marie

Hazel Vera Marie Wise, age 75 of Wilton, formerly of Havana died Thursday, February 13, 2003 at St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana. She was born April 11, 1927 in Havana to the late Ulbert Earl and Emma Smith Guinn. She was a member of the Davis Chapel AME Methodist Church in Wilton where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Wise; one daughter, Emma Hayes and a sister, Ruby Guinn.

Survivors are a sister, Ruthie Wise of Belleville; three granddaughters and husband, Cynthia Gilkey of Wilton, Angela and Leroy Allen of Kansas City, Kansas, Gwendolyn Gilkey of Atlanta, Georgia; 7 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.

Services will be Thursday, February 20, 2003 at Cornwell Chapel, Danville with Rev. Clarence Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in Guinn Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville. Wise, Kattie Hutch

Kattie Hutch Wise, age 93, of Havana died Sunday, November 11, 2001 at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville. Mrs. Wise was born July 18, 1908 in Yell County, AR to the late Jim and Viola Freeman Hutch. She was a homemaker and mother, a member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church and a housekeeper.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Wise.

Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law, Annie and Sammy Smith of Havana, one son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and Emma Davis of Belleville, two grandchildren, Sammy D. Smith and DeAnna Anderson both of Russellville and five great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Services will be Saturday, November 17, 2001, 10:00 a. m. at the Liberty Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Clifford Davis, Rev. Gene Nixon, Rev. Leonard Wise, Bishop Joe White, Rev. Douglas Wise, Rev. Ryan Nixon officiating. Interment will be in Guinn Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville. Visitation will be Friday, November 16, 2001 from 6:00 to 7:30 p. m. Luther Dail Wise, age 50, of Ola died Sunday, January 13, 1985. He was a native of Casa, son of the late Richmond Wise.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Joan Haskins Wise; a son, Roger Dale Wise of Hot Springs; a daughter, Gloria Jean George of Casa; his mother Mrs. Mamie Hayes Wise of Casa; four brothers, William, Billy and Carmen Wise of Casa, and Richard Wise of Atkins; two sisters, Mabel McCourt of Button Willow, Calif. and Vera Mae Alexander of Casa, and three grandchildren.

Wise, Nathan N.

Nathan N. Wise, age 77, of Havana died Friday, January 16, 1987 at his home. He was a native of Shoal Creek in Logan County, son of the late Will and Suphrono Wise. He was a member and former Deacon of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church a Veteran of World War II and a former employee of the Plainview Lumber Co.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Katie Hutch Wise of the home; one daughter, Annie Smith of Havana; three brothers, Hartsell Wise and Lathel Wise both of Fort Smith and Odell Wise of Havana; two sisters, Mrs. Benalla Cole of Havana and Mrs. Mary Etta Ford of Fort Smith; two grandchildren and a number of nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Wednesday, January 21 at the Liberty Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Clifford Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Guinn Cemetery near Havana. Wise, Roger Dale

Roger Dale Wise, age 51 of Ola, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 16, 2009. He was born on October 21, 1957. He was a member of the Ola Full Gospel Church. He was a preacher and a Sunday School superintendent. He played the guitar and sang in church.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Wanda Wise of Ola; his mother, Maelene Lunsford and husband Lee of Ola; sister, Gloria Dixon and husband Pat of Morrilton; stepchildren, Kevin George and wife Misty of Bismark, Susie George Allen and husband Tony of Hot Springs; four grandchildren and a host of family and many, many friends.

Wise, Ruthia

Ruthia Wise, age 81, of Havana, AR, died Wednesday. She was born November 3, 1924 in Plumerville, AR, the daughter of Ulbert and Uma Smith Guinn. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the Harris Chapel CME Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Wise; a daughter, Sophis Johnston and two sisters, Ruby Guinn and Hazel Wise.

She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene Johnston of Ft. Smith, AR, George Johnston of Havana, AR, Ray and Billie Johnston of North Little Rock, AR, Leonard and Velma Wise of Morrilton, AR and Larry and Annette Wise of Mablevale, AR; three daughters and a son-in-law, Sophia Johnston of Lawton, OK, Carolyn Wise of California and LaRuth and Roscoe Newton of North Little Rock, AR; 36 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be today, Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at 10:00 a. m. at the Havana Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in the Guinn Cemetery. Wiseman, Edna Belle

Edna Belle Wiseman, age 90, of Havana, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Mitchell's Nursing Home. She was born June 6, 1920 in Vernon, TX to the late Edgar and Ida Lou Jones McCourt. She was a mother, homemaker, poultry farmer, and a member of the Waveland Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Dalton Wiseman; brothers, Billy and Melvin McCourt; sister, Emma Lou Yerby.

Survivors include her daughters, Reda Edwards of Rolands, OK, Sandra Bradford of Booneville, Martha Henry of Annandale, VA, Regina Pryor of Booneville; son, Daryl Wiseman of Waveland; brother, John McCourt of Havana; sister, Mary Thomas of Jonesboro.

Funeral service was Monday, September 20, 2010 at WYC Church of Christ with John McCourt and Daryl Wiseman officiating. Burial was in Moore's Chapel Cemetery. Wiseman, Perry Allan

Perry Allan Wiseman, local Owassa, OK resident, passed away peacefully, with his wife at his side on Monday, February 25, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was 83. He was born September 4, 1924 at Waveland, AR to Perry C. and Mayme (Sugg) Wiseman. He was raised and received his education in Danville, where he graduated high school and then enlisted in the U. S. Navy. He valiantly served his country in World War II, in several theaters including the invasion of Normandy. He later served in Korea. After his military service, he attended and graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, AR and later received his Masters Degree from the University of Tulsa. In 1957, Perry was united in marriage to Lee Fleming in a Tulsa ceremony. Together they raised her son Joe. He and Lee had two sons, Jim and David. Throughout his professional career, he worked as a cost analyst in the aerospace industry. He began at the McDonnell plant in Tulsa, and later worked for one year at the Martin plant in Denver, later moving to California where he was employed with Lockheed in Sunnyvale, retiring after 24 years. After retirement, they moved to Mendocino, CA where Perry was active in numerous civic activities. He and Lee have made their home in Owasso since April of 2007. Perry loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was loved and admired by many, and will be missed by all. Those that survive and hold many cherished memories are his wife - Lee of the home; children - Joseph Fleming, MD and wife Tammy of Ft. Bragg, CA, Jim Wiseman and wife Denise of Owasso, OK, David Wiseman and wife Karin of New Milford, CT; 9 grandchildren - Steven Fleming & wife Birgit, Jon Fleming, Lisa Fleming, Beth (Wiseman) Causey & husband Aaron, Brianne Gulinson & fianc Michael Yarbrough, Cassie (Wiseman) Gelotte & husband Josh, and Matt, Morgan and Connor Wiseman; one great grandson -Logan Causey; one sister -Sue Dauterive of New Iberia, LA.

Perry was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Anna Coger and Edith Vaughter and a brother Kenneth Wiseman.

Funeral services were held at Friday, February 29, 2008 in the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel at Owasso with Rev. Page Cole officiating. Interment followed at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery, Owasso. Wiseman, Perry C.

Perry C. Wiseman, age 91, of Danville died Saturday, June 28, 1986 at the Yell County Hospital in Danville. Mr. Wiseman was born in Waveland, son of the late James M. and Laura Bailey Wiseman. He was a retired teacher and Real Estate Developer and a member of the Danville United Methodist Church for 57 years.

Survivors include one son, Perry A. Wiseman of San Francisco, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Max Coger of Danville; Mrs. W. R. Vaughter of Little Rock and Mrs. H. J. Dauterive of New Iberia, La.; one brother, Eugene Wiseman of Waveland; two sisters, Mrs. Ben Whittington of Sweet Water, Texas and Mrs. C. M. Nicholson of Perryville. Also twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services was held Monday, June 30 at the Danville United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Morey officiating, with burial in the Earl Ladd Memorial Cemetery. Wiser, Arie Ida (Simpkins) (Mrs.)

Mrs. Ida Wiser died at her home in Havana, Sunday night, March 17th, at 7 p.m. She was born in McNairy County, Tenn., October 29, 1865 and was married to W. J. Wiser at that place. After they were married they moved near Havana and have lived there since. Mrs. Wiser, as a pioneer of Yell County was widely and favorably known.

She is survived by her husband, W. J. Wiser and seven children, Grover and Porter, Havana; Zelmer Wiser, Mrs. Oswald Hall, Mrs. O. N. Martin, Mrs. J. R. Wilson, and Mrs. Clyde Lewis, Little Rock; 22 grand-children, two great-grandchildren, a brother Albert Simkins, Temple, Oklahoma and several nieces and nephews. She was 76 years, 4 months and 18 days old.

Wiser, Frank D.

Frank D. Wiser, 77, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at his home in Clarksville. He was a native of Havana, son of the late Porter and Ratha Rogers Wiser, graduate of Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, and the University of Arkansas with a vocation agriculture degree, served in the U. S. Air Force in Alaska, retired from the USDA FmHA as county supervisor, 37-year member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Madlyn Wiser; and four brothers, James, Hulon, Robert, and Joe Wiser.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Beatrice Trost Wiser; daughter, Cecilia R. Wiser of Fayetteville; son, Grant E. Wiser of Alton, IL; two brothers, Henry Wiser and Roger Lee; three sisters, Ida Hall, Betty Reed and Molly Fish.

Gussie Ellora Wiser, age 87, of Havana, AR died Saturday, December 23, 2000 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. She was born February 5, 1913 in Waveland, AR to the late Dewitt Morgan and Meda Mae Short. She was a homemaker and mother, a member of the United Methodist Church in Havana, where she served as the organist.

She was preceded in death by a brother, David Boss and two sisters, Juanita Cassity and Vera Jestice.

Survivors are her husband of 64 years, William James Wiser; one son, Julian Porter Wiser of Garland, TX; one daughter, Meda Louisa Snipes of Concord, NC; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Service will be announced later by Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville, AR. Was postponed from December 26, at the United Methodist Church in Havana. Burial will be in the Piney Cemetery; near Havana. Rev. Hulon "Snug" Wiser, age 87, of Plainview died Thursday, October 17, 2002 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born April 24, 1915 in Havana, Arkansas to the late Porter and Ratha Rogers Wiser. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and an Assembly of God Minister and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Havana.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geneva Pearl Wiser; a brother, Joe Wiser and a sister, Mary Wiser.

Survivors are his wife, Nell Green Wiser; two sons and wives, Clyde and Wanda Wiser and William "Buddy" and Brenda Wiser, all of Havana; nephew and wife, Boyd and Linda Robinson, Jr. of Lake Jackson, Texas; stepson and wife, Kenny and Susan McRae of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; 5 brothers, James Wiser of Danville, Bob Wiser of Ada, OK, Roger Wiser of Havana, Henry Wiser of Boron, CA, Frank Wiser of Clarksville; three sisters, Ida Sue Hall of Belleville, Betty Reed of North Little Rock, Molly Fish of Garland, Texas; LI grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter and several nephews and nieces, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Lynn Wiser.

Julian Porter Wiser, age 60 of Dallas, died Sunday, October 19, 2003 at Presbyterian Hospital of Piano, Texas. He was born in Stuttgart, Arkansas on July 6, 1943. He was a retired airplane mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gussie Ellora Shott Wiser.

Marion (Jack) Wiser Jr., 66, died September 30 in Avenal, Calif.

The funeral service was held October 3 at the Bragg and Sons chapel in Coalings and burial was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Conducting the service was the Rev. Edward Van Ham, pastor of the Avenal Presbyterian Church. Wiser, who retired from Standard after 37 years, was born on November 22, 1899 in Havana.

Mary "Helen" Mott Wiser, 83, of Havana was taken gently by the Lord to her heavenly home Saturday, April 16, 2011. Born July 24, 1927 in the Walnut Grove Community, she was the daughter of the late Burl & Margie Robinson Mott.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burl and Margie Mott; brother, Bud Mott; sons, infant Jackie Lynn and his twin Jimmy Glenn Wiser; daughter Janet Ridenour.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years Roger (Bug) Wiser; daughter Judy Perry and husband Jim of Russellville; grandchildren, Tessa Duncan, Glenna Rager, Linda Hall, Shay Perry, Chris Perry, Kyle Ridenour and Amy Sanders; 10 great grandchildren; and three step great- grandchildren.

Funeral service was April 19, 2011 at Western Yell County Church of Christ with John McCourt officiating. Burial was at Havana Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Porter Wiser of Havana observed their 50th wedding anniversary with open house at their home, Sunday, September 3. Nell Wiser, age 88 of Plainview, died Thursday, May 1, 2008 at her home. She was born October 3, 1919 in Plainview, Arkansas to the late Oscar L. & Maggie Mae Patterson Green. She was a member of Havana Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward C. McRae, Cody Baker and Hulon Wiser; son, Don McRae; brothers; Lemuel, Louis, Clyste & Pat Green; sisters, Mildred Wilson and Lois Holley.

Survivors include son, Edward Kenneth "Ken" McRae of Sparks, Nevada; six grandchildren; nephew, Hugh Green of Vicksburg, MS; niece, Mary Mangis of Bayview, IN.

Wiser, William James (Jim)

Dr. William James (Jim) Wiser, age 92 of Havana died Thursday, December 8, 2005 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born July 1913 in Havana, Arkansas, son of Ratha and Porter Wiser. He was married 64 years to Gussie Boss Wiser. He began a long career in educational journey by graduating from Havana High School, attending Arkansas Tech, teaching at Pea Ridge, Arkansas, and graduating with a Bachelors Degree from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and earning his Masters Degree and Ph.D. from Perdue University in Lafayette, IN. At that time, he began a 26-year career with the United States Department of Agriculture as a research plant pathologist working in Lafayette, IN Belle Glade, FL, Tifton, GA and ending his work in Beltsville, MD. Upon retirement in 1981 he and Gussie moved back "home" to Havana. He was the first of eleven children with four girls and seven boys. As a young man during the depression, he said that he wanted to go to college to learn ways to help the farmer. And so he did, doing research on corn crops to prevent diseases, produce a profitable crop, and feed the nation. He and his wife were very active in the Havana church. She was the organist and he served as adult Sunday School teacher for a long time.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Gussie Boss Wiser who died in 2000; a son, Julian Porter Wiser who died in 2003; brothers, Hulon, Joe and Bob Wiser.

Survivors include a daughter, Meda Snipes of Concord, NC, brothers, Roger Wiser of Havana, Henry Wiser of Boston, CA, Frank Wiser of Clarksville; sisters, Ida Sue Hall of Belleville, Betty Reed of North Little Rock, Molly Fish of Garland, TX; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Bubby" William L. Wiser, Sr. passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born September 17, 1938 in Havana, Arkansas to Hulon "Shug" Porter and Geneva Pearl Robinson Wiser. He was a member of the Havana Assembly of God Church and a retired Dow Chemical production worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Brenda Wiser; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Ray White of Danville; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Charlotte Wiser of Havana, Kevin and Angela Wiser of Russellville, Barry and Brittany Wiser of Havana; brothers and sisters-in-law Clyde and Wanda Wiser of Havana, Boyd and Linda Robinson of Mt. Wisner, Clyde Eugene

Clyde Eugene Wisner, 81, of Briggsville, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012, at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. He was born July 6, 1931, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to William Judson and Margaret Alice (Conover) Wisner. His occupation at retirement was a Senoir Public Affairs Officer for the federal government. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1000 and the United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Bill and Charles Wisner.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Beth (Swaim) Wisner; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Samantha Wisner of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Jerry Spears of Briggsville; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Francis Wisner of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five nephews and one niece.

DARDANELLE - Kenneth Richard Witherell, age 69, of Dardanelle died Saturday September 20, 1986 at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. He was a veteran of World War II, retired poultry raiser and a native of McGregon, Ohio.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Jordan Witherell; three sons, Arthur Witherell of Rockville, Ind., Robert D. Witherell of Chesterfield, Mo. and Richard J. Witherell of Little Rock, a daughter, Jane R. Witherell of Dardanelle and three grandchildren. The body will be cremated.

Kenneth Richard Witherell, age 69, of Dardanelle, died Saturday, September 20, 1986, at St. Mary's hospital in Russellville. He was a native of McGregor, Iowa, a retired poultry businessman and a W. W. II veteran. He was the son of the late Arthur and Ruth Spencer Witherell.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Margaret Fur Witt; a son, Rick Witt; three brothers, Willie Witt, Eschol Witt, Henry Witt; three sisters, Naomi Emerson, Tressie Teague, and Oler Helton.

Mr. James Madison Witt, age 88, of Dardanelle, AR died Friday, March 31, 1995 at the Dardanelle Hospital. He was born September 5, 1906 in Magazine, AR to the late Archie and Anna Hunt Witt. He was a retired farmer and member of the Gateley Hill Primitive Baptist Church.

Witt, Lea Ellen (Hodges)

Lea Ellen Hodges Witt went home to her Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 9 after a five year battle with LeioMyoSarcoma (LMS). She participated in several clinical trials to help research this very rare form of cancer. She was 70. The family was grateful by the incredible loving care of her medical team including Rebecca Stone, M.D. Mrs. Witt passed away in her hometown of Dardanelle, Arkansas on Monday said her husband, former FEMA Director James Lee Witt, surrounded by all she loved, and who loved her. Mrs. Witt was born on July 1, 1943, in Dardanelle, Arkansas to Lloyd and Gladys Hodges Sawire. She graduated from Dardanelle High School in 1961. She married James Lee Witt in 1961 upon their high school graduation. She attended Arkansas Tech University and worked as a medical secretary, a Circuit Court Clerk and Municipal Court Clerk all in Dardanelle and Yell County. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Dardanelle. Dardanelle was home for Mrs. Witt even during a brief residence in Washington, D.C. suburbs while her husband of 51 years, James Lee Witt served as the Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency from 1993-2001. She enjoyed bringing back to life the Meers Farm in Dardanelle which she and James Lee bought several years ago and riding every Saturday morning in the restored antique cars that they enjoyed taking long rides in on weekends.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, James Lee Witt; sons and daughters in law Michael and Kim Witt (Dardanelle, Arkansas) and Jimmy and Anita Witt (Dardanelle, Arkansas); grandsons Carter, Parker and Jesse (Dardanelle, Arkansas); brother Donnie Hodges (Dardanelle, Arkansas); nephew Brad Hodges (Bentonville, Arkansas) and niece Candace Hodges Riner (Mena, Arkansas) and numerous other loving nephews, nieces and cousins.
