Mrs. J. F. Swilling passed away at the family home on North Robinson street at 10:30 Tuesday morning. She had been sick about four weeks with a complication of diseases. Mrs.
Swilling was but tbirty-two years of age and is survived by her husband, three small children, her father, seven brothers and two sisters. She was a kind and lovable woman of true Christian character, and enjoyed the respect and love of a great many friends. She had lived in Cleburne for seven years, coming here from Hico.
The remains were taken to Hico last night and the funeral will be held at that place this afternoon. The friends of the bereaved family extend them deep sympathy in their time of sorrow. Joe Frank Swilling age 75, native of Belleville and resident of Russellville died in a Little Rock hospital Thursday, August 11, 1960. He was a retired employee of the Dardanelle-Russellville Railroad Company, member of the Assembly of God Church and a son of the late Irving and Margaret Patterson Swilling.

Willie Swilling, age 75, Conway, formerly of Russellville, died last week at a hospital in Conway and was buried in Russellville.

Lera Mae Swint, age 97, of Springdale, died December 24, 2007 in Springdale. She was born April 9, 1910 in Havana, AR, the daughter of Frank and Esta Barnes Rogers. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Springdale and was a retired owner and manager of apartment buildings. She enjoyed reading and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Swint and an infant daughter, Mildred Marie.
She is survived by two daughters Betty Hale of Springdale and Mary Erickson of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; three sisters Irene Wooten of Springdale, Frankie Martin of Ventura, California and Rosemary McCarty of Springdale; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 27, 2007, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Springdale, with Pastor Jack McCarty and David Hale officiating. Edna May Swor, 96, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2006, in Chico, Calif. Mrs. Swor was born in the family home in Belleville, Ark., on July 6, 1909, to Gerald and Ethel Thomson. She received her education in Belleville and as a high school student was offered a music scholarship after winning a statewide piano competition. However, she chose to marry Elzy T. Swor on November 25, 1926. In 1934, Elzy and Edna moved to Somis, Calif., and later to Ventura. With a growing family, Edna supplemented their income by packing oranges and lemons and working as a semstress in a sport clothing factory from which she retired. Elzy and Edna were active members of the Ventura Assembly of God church for many years. Edna enjoyed amily gatherings, visiting friends, sewing, playing the piano, crossword puzzles, gardening, traveling, and watching her sons and grandsons play ball. She made many Raggedy Ann dolls for family and friends. Mrs. Swor was a resident of Ventura for 65 years before moving to Orland, Calif., to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a devoted, loving, and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her sense of humor, laughter, friendly smiles, and big hugs for everyone, with a quiet "God bless you," will be missed by all who knew her. An infant son, Elzy T.
Jr., and husband Elzy preceded her in death. Mrs.
Swor's survivors are her sons Bill and his wife, Neila, of Canby, Ore., Don and his wife, Shirley, of Ventura; daughter, Anna Porter, and her husband, Wally, of Orland, Calif.; her extended family, Mason and Caroline Parish of Ventura; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Elena Elliott of Camarillow; sisters-in-law, Ina Thompson of Camarillo and Norine Adair of Oxnard; and many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held at 1 p.m.

Dr. James Donald Sykes, age 59 of Dardanelle, died January 13, 2003 at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He practiced medicine as a pediatrician and family physician for 32 years. Most recently he practiced as a family physician in Dardanelle, was the Medical Director for Dardanelle Nursing Center, and on the staff Dardanelle Hospital. He was board certified American Board of Pediatrics, Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, a member of the Arkansas Family Practice Association. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War in which he served as a Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force. He was a deacon at Dardanelle First Baptist Church. Dr. Sykes received a Bachelors degree from Ouachita Baptist University, Arkadelphia, and was a 190 graduate of the University of Arkansas College of Medicine. He served his internship and residency at Wilford Hall USAF Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. He served as Deputy Commander, Little Rock AFB Hospital. He also practiced in El Dorado, Paragould, and Waldron.
He was preceded in death by parents, Harry and Dorothy Sykes and sisters, Pat Revere and Angie Johnson.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Jeanne Carol Fortner Sykes; three sons and daughters-in-law Dr. Jeffery Dean and Sarah Sykes of Arkadelphia, John David and Sheri Sykes; grandson, Jared James Sykes and an eagerly expected second grandchild, all or Russellville, Jason Donald and Tanna Sykes, also of Russellville; brothers; Dr. Robert Sykes of Nashville, AR, and Worthy Sykes of Little Rock; sisters, Jean Hope of Hot Springs and Dr. Jo Chesser of Little Rock and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roy Syler, age 28 of Perryville, died Sunday, September 18. He was a carpenter, a native of Waldron, and the son of Robert Syler of Hot Springs, and Mrs. Willodean James of Nola.
Survivors include, other than his parents, his wife, Mrs. Karen Mitchell Syler, and one daughter, Miss Patricia Lynn Syler of the home; one brother, Roscoe Wagner of Mountain Pine; two step-brothers, Glenn James of Dardanelle and Garry James of Gravelly; one step-sister, Mrs. Katy Collins of Texas; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Eloise Fowler of Nola.

Doyle Lee Tackett, age 78, or Atkins, AR died Saturday, September 7, 2002. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Atkins First Baptist Church and a Navy Veteran of World War II.

Rev. Edward Tackett, 83, of Farmington, AR., a longtime teacher and pastor in Havana, died on December 25, 2005. Rev. Tackett was active in the Havana community in community, city, school and church affairs for 36 years. He was in the United States Coast Guard during World War II serving in the South Pacific and was discharged as a Boatswain's Mate, First Class. He pastored the Havana Assembly of God Church for thirty-six years and taught in the Havana Public School. He was an officer in Ruritan and a leader of Royal Rangers.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, an infant brother and a sister, Beulah Lewis.

Rev. Edward Otho Tackett, 83, of Farmington, Arkansas went to be with the Lord, December 25, 2005. He was born June 10, 1922 in Hector, AR to Rev. Raymond and Laudra Tackett. He was in the United States Coast Guard during World War II serving in the South Pacific and was discharged as a Boatswain's Mate, First Class. He was a licensed ordained Assembly of God minister for fifty-six years, pastoring the Havana Assembly of God Church for thirty-six years. He taught in the Havana Public School. He was an active leader in community service as an officer in Ruritan and a leader of Royal Rangers. He attended Southwestern Bible College in Waxahachie, Texas and was graduated from John Brown University in Siloam Spring, Arkansas with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Bible and Religious Education. His greatest desire was to please the Lord. He often made the statement. "God is too wise to make a mistake and He loves us too much to do us wrong."
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, an infant brother and a sister, Beulah Lewis.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ruth Tackett of the home; two sons, Edward Tackett, Jr. and wife Lanelle of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, John Tackett and wife Deborah of Arkadelphia, AR; three daughters, Rebekah Hill and husband Reverend Robert Hill of Spiro, Oklahoma, Judy Bancerowski and" husband Michael of Farmington, AR and Karen Miller and husband Charles of Crookston, Minnesota; one sister, Emma Jo Price of Russellville, AR; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Etta Mae Tackett, 81, of Russellville, died Sunday, May 15, 2005 at UAMS in Little Rock. The daughter of William and Polly Miller West, she was born March 14, 1924 in Steve, Arkansas. She was a Nurses Aide with Stella Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and retired in 1987. She was a member of the member and past Worth Matron of the London Chapter #549 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Kelley Heights Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry E. Tackett and her parents and two sisters, Estelle Blankenship and Etoy Sims and a brother John West.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Willard and Crystal Tackett, Lovelock, NV; three grandsons; great grandsons; three sisters, Hazel King, Centerville, Irene Murray, Russellville, Ruby Dickenson, Springdale; two great-great grandchildren; eleven nephews and five nieces. Ruth Lavann Black Tackett, age 82, of Spiro, OK, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 22, 2008 in Spiro, OK. Born February 6, 1926 in Malvern, AR, she graduated from Malvern High and moved to Washington, D. C. where she helped in the World War II effort by working for the Price Adjustment Board. In 1944 she married Rev. Edward O. Tackett and they began their many years of ministry. She touched the lives of multiple generations as a compassionate lady who gave her life in service to others. She served the community both spiritually and physically, contributing her talents for many years to various organizations including the Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels, Heart Drive, Havana School Parent and Teachers Association, Havana 4-H Club, and in 1982 was the recipient of an award of recognition by the Governor's Office of Volunteer Citizens Participation. In addition to her service to others, Ruth Tackett will be remembered for her devotion to her family, kindness to those in freed and her dedication to ministry with her husband for over 50 years; with 36 years at the Havana Assembly of God Church.
Ruth Tackett is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Rev. Edward O. Tackett, her mother, Elna Jewell Jackson Black of Bearden, AR, and a brother, William Wilburn Black of Malvern, AR.
She is survived by two sons and their spouses Edward O. Tackett, Jr. and LaNelle of Broken Arrow, OK; John Stephen Tackett and Deborah of Arkadelphia, AR; three daughters and their spouses Rebekah Tackett Hill and Robert of Spiro, OK; Judy Tackett Bancerowski and Michael of Farmington, AR; and Karen Tackett Miller and Charles William of Crookston, MN. She is also survived by one brother, Jerrold H. Black and his spouse Eutrola, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Verna Jewell Tackett, age 85, of Russellville, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. A daughter of the late Marion Cicero and Maude Lee Walden Turner, she was born April 15, 1916, at Wing, Arkansas. She was the widow of William Doyle Tackett, and was an active member of the Pope County Democratic Women's Organization and the Friend's Sewing Club, and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Russellville.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, William D. "Bill" and Lynda Tackett of Danville; a daughter and son-in-law, Willette and Bill Lollar of North Little Rock; a brother and sister-in-law, Fay and Juanita Turner of Barling; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 P. M. Thursday, July 19, 2001, at the Shinn Chapel with Rev. David Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Russellville, by Shinn Funeral Service. Kimberly Diane (Balkenbush) Taff of Lamar, Arkansas went to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 29, 2012. Kimberly was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on January 4, 1976. She grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and attended Putnam City Schools and graduated from Waldron High School. She had recently started back to college and was pursuing her college degree.

Betty Talley Betty Louise Cossey Talley age 73 of Dardanelle went to be with her Lord on her birthday, February 6, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray L. Talley; an infant daughter; her parents, Perry and Bula Cossey; one brother, Jimmy Cossey.
Betty is survived by one daughter, Brenda and son-in-law Harold Abercrombie of Dardanelle; one son, Danny Ray Talley of Dardanelle; one sister, Joyce Cossey Martin of Dardanelle; two brothers, David and Freda Cossey of Dardanelle, Lonnie C. and Barbara Kendrick of Knoxville; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews and many precious friends. Curt Talley, Age 22, of Dardanelle, died Monday, June 16, 1997, at the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock. Curt was born June 25, 1974, in Dardanelle, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher Lynn Talley, and by his maternal grandparents, Arlie and Flossie Tucker.

Ethel Lee Talley, age 73, of Plainview died Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center. She was born January 6, 1939 at Shawnee, Ok to the late Ellwood and Lorine Michna Flood.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, James "Jim" Talley of Plainview; a son, James and Phylis Hadley of Oklahoma City, OK; step daughter and son-in-law, Donice and Gene Warner of Lonoke; stepson, Butch and Lynn Talley of North Carolina; sister and brother-in- law, Mary Lou and Ray Coppin of Oklahoma City, OK; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a step granddaughter and many other family members.

Mrs. Kathryn Talley, age 17, of Kansas City, Mo. formerly from the Mosley community in Yell County, died at a hospital in Kansas City on May 17.
Funeral services were on May 18, with burial in the Chickalah cemetery.

Les Talley, age 68 of Dardanelle, AR died Saturday, June 28, 2003 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. He was born June 22, 1935 at Chickalah and was a son of the late George Henry and Lollie Mae Morgan Talley. He was a carpenter and had worked in the poultry industry. He was a member of the Army National Guard.
Other than his parents, a sister, three brothers and a grandson, Randy Reed, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Betty H. Talley; a son, Lynn Talley of Dardanelle; two step-sons, Micheal Knuckles of Dardanelle and Ronnie Knuckles of Atkins; two daughters, Debbie Moore of Scott, AR and Diane Mitchell of Pinson, AL; a step-daughter, Celeste Knuckles of Russellville; two brothers, Louie Talley of Dardanelle and George Talley of England, AR; two sisters, Lillie Edmondson of Dardanelle and Ethel Yates of Russellville; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Martha Jean "Fritz" Carter Talley age 86 of Dardanelle died Sunday, April 7, 2013. She was born January 16, 1927 in Little Rock to the late Dr. John L. Carter and Lena Loretta Masters Carter. She graduated Little Rock Senior High School (now Central) in 1944, then attended Little Rock Junior College from 1944-46, and graduated from Ouachita Baptist College (now University) in 1948. She was a teacher for Mabelvale and Pine Bluff Schools, Draughon's School of Business, and Lion's World Services for the Blind. She was a member of the Dardanelle First Baptist Church. She loved her family, Mt. Nebo, genealogy and going to the Dardanelle Senior Activity Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nevath Vengimon Talley; sisters, Edith Modean Carter Hardage, Mary Sue Carter Payne, Helen Carter and Annette Carter "Peanut" Waters.

Ray Talley, 61, of Dardanelle died Monday at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St Louis, MO. Born October 15, 1939 in the Shiloh Community near Dardanelle; he was the son of the late George and Louie Morgan Talley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, a sister, Lucy Watson, and two brothers, Walter and Lonnie Talley.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Cossey Talley, a son, Danny Talley, Dardanelle; a daughter, Brenda Talley, Dardanelle; three brothers, Louie Talley, Harkeys Valley; Lester Talley, Dardanelle; George Talley, Jr. Fairfield Bay; two sisters, Lillie Edmondson, Dardanelle, and Ethel Yates, Russellville, nephews, nieces, in-laws, and many friends.
