Steelman, Calvin C.

Calvin C. Steelman, 71, retired railroad agent and resident of Banks for most of his life, died in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carl Rowland, here Monday. He was a native of Calhoun County and a member of the Methodist Church.

Stegall, John Oscar

John Oscar Stegall, age 57, of Ola passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Chambers Memorial Hospital. He was born June 20, 1954 in Little Rock, AR to the late John Wesley and Mable Maxine Lane Stegall. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gary Stegall and Johnny Finney.

Survivors include daughter, Hope Stegall & finance John Brinkman of Louann, AR; sister, Mary Powers of Ola; nieces, Miranda Flores, Amanda Paul; nephews, Elvis Powers and Shawn Stegall; great nieces, Jamlin Phipps, Casey Phipps, Irma Paz, Kaylie Billingsley and Paisley Paul; ex-wife, Tawana Stegall of Louann, AR. Mabel Maxine Stegall, age 81, of Ola, AR passed away November 13, 2004.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Joan Stegall of Alma, AR; a daughter, Mary Powers of Little Rock, AR; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Loren Stegemann age 80 of Dardanelle died Monday, February 25, 2013 at his home. He was born June 18, 1932 at Sibley, Iowa to the late Emil and Kate Schmidt Stegemann. He was an Air Force Veteran, he loved to dance, ride four wheelers, fish, farming his cows and most of all he loved his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Stephens, Aaron Wash

Aaron Wash Stephens, age 88 of Aly, died Monday, May 5, 1986, at the Oak Manor Nursing Home in Booneville. Mr. Stephens was a native of Atkins, a retired Forrest Service employee, and farmer. He was the son of the late Emanuel and Martha Marcrum Stephens. He was a member of the Church of Christ, and a Mason.

Survivors include three daughters, Billie Brister of Alabama, Charlene Wallace of Magazine, and Martha Wood of Aly. One brother, Cecil Blaylock of Aly one sister, Iola Lee of Calif. One step brother, Jim Blaylock of Calif. and one step sister, Ocie Bell of Danville. Nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Stephens, and one daughter, Ilene Gagne.

Stephens, Gertrude Smith

PLAINVIEW - Mrs. Gertrude Smith Stephens, age 78, of Star Route, Plainview, died Friday, April 19, 1985, at Sparks Regional Hospital at Fort Smith. She was a native of Chula (Yell County), daughter of the late Charles Edward and Lou Mabry Smith and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ilene Bagne.

Survivors include her husband, A. W. "Wash" Stephens; three daughters, Billie Brister of Demopolis, Ala., Charlene Wallace of Magazine and Martha Wood of Danville; two sisters, Mrs. Elvia Lamb of Danville and Mrs. Ethel Spears of Dumas, nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Stephens, Lina Marie

Lina Marie Stephens, age 72, a native of Yell County, died March 8, 1986 at her home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of the late Oscar and Effie Manning Thacker of Danville and the widow of the late Ed Stephens of Oklahoma City. She was a Methodist.

Survivors include one son, Jerry Webb; three daughters, Anna Mae Helton, Paula Sue Hawkins, and Fannie Lee Spruill; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren, all of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by three brothers, Cecil Thacker of Danville, Cheedle Thacker of St. Louis, Missouri, and Carl Thacker of Atlanta, Georgia; and three sisters, Ione Carico of Enid, Oklahoma, Fannie Thacker of Danville, and Clara Meadows of Cleveland, Texas.

Stephens, Vonda L.

Vonda L. Stephens, age 76, died March 4, 1998 in Lakewood, Co. She was born September 10, 1921 in Birta, AR to William and Mattie Boyce) Scruggs. She married Wilbur Stephens on August 3, 1940 in Bartlesville. She was a minister's wife and a homemaker since 1940. Her husband was a minister of the Broomfield Assembly of God Church in Colorado for 10 years. 1 She taught Sunday school, directed the children's church program and directed the choir. She also played piano for the church. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Council and taught piano for several years.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Stephens of Westminister, CO and a brother, Bill Scruggs of Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in January 1995; a twin sister; two brothers and a half sister.

Graveside service was March 9, 1998 at Trinity Chapel of Resthaven Memorial Park. Larry Jack Stephenson, 66 of Berryville, Arkansas, departed this life Wednesday, March 22, 2006. He was born on July 28, 1939, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Jack Emrich and Opal Augusta (Ross) Stephenson. He was a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Opal Stephenson.

Stephenson, Thomas H. "Steve"

Thomas H. "Steve" Stephenson, age 78, of Sun City, AZ, finished his courageous journey on earth on September 26, 2010, surrounded by family and with the support of Hospice of Arizona. While our hearts are broken, we rejoice knowing a heavenly reunion awaited him.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary, a sister, two brothers, and his favorite walking companions, Caiti and Chelsea.

Steve was born in El Dorado, Kansas, on July 23, 1932. After joining the Air Force he spent a year in Greenland, and then was stationed at Luke AFB in 1953, where he met and married his sweetheart, Margie. After his military service, Steve began a lifelong career in finance and banking. He worked for Continental National Bank for 20 years, retiring in 1987 to spend the next two years traveling the country with his wife Margie and his golf clubs. He returned to work for a short while at M&I Thunderbird Bank before returning to Sun City to fine tune his golf score at Sun City Country Club. Steve was also a Glendale Rotarian, a regular blood donor, and a fan of his favorite teams, the Diamondbacks and the AZ Cardinals.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Margie, of 55 years, as well as his son, Donald and daughters Lori Eubank and Barbara (Kevin) Young. Steve's legacy also lives on in the lives of his grandchildren, Sgt. Jacob Roe, US Army, Staci Roe, Megan Young, and Jason Young, as well as four beautiful great-grandchildren who brought laughter and cheer to his golden years; Tanner Young, Carter and River Lynch, and Arbor Cox. Steve is also survived by two brothers, a sister, and countless nieces and nephews. His little sidekicks, Suki, Sophie, and Bitzi will also miss their "Papa"

A celebration of Steve's life will be held on Friday, October 1, 2010 at the Regency Mortuary 9850 W. Thunderbird Rd in Sun City at 4 pm. Funeral services were held last Wednesday afternoon for W.W. Stepp, age 77, who died at his home here Tuesday after a heart attack.

Services were conducted at the home with Rev. F.M. Tolleson officiating. Mr. Stepp was born at Atkins November 30, 1862 and has lived in Danville since 1917.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. C.J. Sharpe and Mrs. Robert Reagan, of Danville; one son, W.W. Stepp, Jr., Henderick, Oklahoma and one sister, Mrs. Mat Williams, of Atkins. He is survived by his wife, Clairetta C. Carolyn Sue Beason Stevens, of Cameron, OK died November 5, 1999 in Fort Smith, AR. She was a housewife and mother.

Stevens, Elmer Lee

Elmer Lee Stevens fell asleep in death Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the age of 76. He was born April 7, 1937 at Campus, IL to the late Oliver and Myrtle Stevens, but spent most of his younger years in Dwight, IL graduating from Dwight High School in 1955.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, Royal Stevens, Harold Stevens, George Stevens, Earl Stevens, Esty Stevens, Robert Stevens; seven sisters, Goldie Murphy, Dorothy Austin, Catherine Miller, Edith Vaughn, Alice Stevens, Mary Elizabeth Stevens and Sara Stevens all of IL. In 1962 Elmer moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico where he met the love of his life, Judy. They married two years later. Elmer was an ordained minister of Jehovah's Witnesses. In 1971 he and Judy had the privilege of attending the Missionary School of Gilead in New York. Upon graduating they received an assignment as missionaries in Honduras where they spent the next eleven years. Upon returning to the states they settled in Dardanelle, AR to be close to Judy's mother and sister. As the years passed by, many Spanish moved into the area and Elmer had the privilege of helping to establish a Spanish Congregation of Jehova's Witnesses where he served as an Elder until the time of his death. Cherishing his memory are his wife of 48 years, Judith Ann Benninger Stevens; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and John Heiden; granddaughter, Amanda Heiden all of North Carolina; grandson, Jason and Dawn Berger; great grandchildren, Cody, Mersades and Dakota of IL; sister, Mary Tabor of IL; sister-in-law, Estella and husband Russell Setcer; special nephew, Roy Stevens of Texas; special nieces, Betty Wilson and Samantha Stevens of Texas, Frieda Bellis of IL.

He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Flora Stevens of Plainview, AR died Sunday, April 4, 1999 at Stockton, CA. She was born April 20, 1915 at Plainview, AR she was the daughter of the late James W. and Millie Hall Ellis. She worked at the Yell County Nursing Home at Ola and was a member of the First Baptist Church at Ola.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Hamilton; seven brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include a son, John Hamilton of Russellville; two daughters, Dorela Stapp and Marie Harris of Stockton, CA; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Addie Adeline Stevenson, aged 79, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl Woodard of Belleville Wednesday March 9. She was a native of Tennessee and had lived at Belleville about 11 years. She was a Baptist.

Stevenson, James Timothy "Tim"

James Timothy "Tim" Stevenson, age 27, of Dardanelle, died Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at his home. He was born August 20, 1979 at Hay ward, CA to James Anthony Parrish and Deborah Camille Kelly. He was a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Columbus, TN. He has been in Dardanelle for the past 10 years, having moved here from Columbia, TN. He participated in several plays in Russellville and he loved to cook.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, J. T. Kelly.

Conway, August 4. - Mrs. Louisa Briggs Stevenson, aged 82, of Conway died in a Little Rock hospital today. She was the widow of Rev. J. B. Stevenson, who served almost 50 years as a pastor In the North Arkansas Methodist Conference. Mrs. Stevenson was born in Briggsville, Yell county.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Fletcher Smith Sr. of Conway.

Stevenson, Robert Lane

DARDANELLE - Robert Lane Stevenson, age 68, of Dardanelle died Saturday, April 3, 1982 at St. Edwards Hospital at Fort Smith. He was a retired construction worker and farmer, and a member of Liberty Hall United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nina Gleason Stevenson; a son, Andrew Stevenson of Russellville; four brothers, Pat Stevenson of Phoenix, Ariz, Pim Stevenson of Harrison, Wayne Stevenson of Russellville and Judge Stevenson of San Francisco, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Ellis of Dardanelle and Mrs. Rhea Hammock of Russellville, and three grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday at Centerville Assembly of God Church by the Rev. C. R. Young. Burial will be in Ringer Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service. Stevenson, Velma Anderson George

Velma Anderson George Stevenson, passed away August 9, 2010 in Sacramento, California at the age of 92. Velma and her twin brother Delma were born November 18, 1917 in Ola, Arkansas. Their arrival was announced on horseback throughout the town by their proud father, Hugh Gaston Anderson. Their mother Martha (Breshears) Anderson was to have three more children, Helen, Mildred, and Roy. When the Great Depression hit, the entire family packed up and moved to California looking for work and a better life. Velma married Herman George, also from Arkansas, and they had four children, all of which were born and raised in California. Son Joe, who is married to Karen, daughters Marilyn, and Barbara who is married to Ron, and a son Herman, who predeceased her. They raised their family in Grass Valley, California, but in the 1960's moved to the Sacramento area to be closer to their children. Velma was to marry twice as her first husband Herman passed away in 1978 at the age of 67. Later in life she married Carlton Stevenson on September 4, 1986. They lived in Clear Lake, California until his death 5 years later. At her passing, Velma had 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was a homemaker and mother most of her life and greatly enjoyed her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies included gardening, keeping up on current affairs, hand crafts, and she was an avid reader. Steward, Billy E.

Billy E. Steward, age 88, of Havana passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 at Chambers Memorial Hospital. He was born July 31, 1926 in the Pea Ridge Community near Havana, Arkansas to the late Fenner William and Ella Irene Ritchie Steward. He was a WW II Veteran, an Agri teacher, and most of all an avid farmer. He loved to hunt and he loved his home and family. He loved our precious Mother, Margaret Steward, unconditionally for 71 years. He was the most loving Husband, Daddy, Pawpa, Pap, Grandad Bill and a special friend that anyone could ask for.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter, Buffi Adelle Womack, his brother, Joe Steward, his sister and brother-in-law, Imogene and Fred Montgomery, and Roy Brannon.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Margaret Bradshaw Steward, son Mike Steward, daughters, Marla (Tim) Robinson and Shelly (Richard) Chwalinski, all of Havana. Kathryn Henderson North Steward, age 84, a resident of Trillium Park in Conway, formerly of Little Rock and Yell County, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 21, 2009. She was born June 18, 1924, in DeValls Bluff, AR, a daughter of the late Stringer Lee and Carrie Spiegel Henderson. She was a lifelong Baptist and former member of the Old Gaines Street Baptist Church in Little Rock, Olivet Baptist Church in Little Rock, First Baptist Church in Booneville, and current member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church in Conway.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Benjamin North, second husband, Cleady Steward, and by her seven siblings.

She is survived by her six children, Joel (Beverly) North, Larry (Jackie) North, Keath (Joyce North, Mark (Diane) North, Jeff (Paula) North, and Susan (Perry) Windle; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, many friends and other family members.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 00 p. m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway with burial following at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Little Rock. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. She lived in a way that taught her family how to love and cherish one another by her unfailing example.
