Miss Suda Lindsey Shade passed away on July 20, 2008 at the Carlyle Healthcare Center in Carlyle, Illinois of natural causes. She had attained the age of 99 years and 5 months. She was born on February 24, 1909 to Lloyd J. and Emma L. Shade of Carlyle, she spent her life as a dedicated elementary school teacher. During her lifetime, she taught students in the Havana, AR school system, but spent the majority of her years in Carlyle, IL schools.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents, four sisters, Virginia Mueller, Vivian Apple, Aliene Taphorn and Mary Janice Pike; two brothers, Lloyd Lee Shade and Robert Lytle Shade.
She is survived by one sister, Jacque E. Briggs of Russellville, AR; her nephew, Shannon Briggs of Russellville, and numerous other nieces and nephews around the nation.
Funeral services and burial were conducted by the Freker Funeral Home on July 26, 2008. Her body was interred at the Carlyle Cemetery with friends and relatives in attendance. Paula J. Shafer, age 64 of Waveland, died Monday, September 29, 2003 peacefully at her home after a courageous two year battle with melanoma. She was born May 29, 1939 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Louis G. and Louise Balmes Woodley. She was a member of the Waveland EH Club and attended the Waveland Community Church. She was owner and operator of Shafer Poultry Farms in Waveland, raising chickens for Tyson for over 21 years.
Survivors are one son, Rick Shafer of Magazine; two daughters and son-in-law, Jennifer Shafer Bancroft of Waveland, Julie and Billy Hays of Sherwood; three brothers, Edward Woodley of Marana, Arizona, Guy Woodley, Jr. and Richard Woodley, both of Brazil, Indiana; two sisters, Patricia McBride of Louisville, Kentucky, Maryellen Kantz of Richmond, North Carolina; six grandchildren, William Bancroft II, Buck Bancroft, JJ Bancroft, Caeleb Shafer, Sydney Hays, and Joshie Hays and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Services were Thursday, October 2, 2003 at the Waveland Community Church with Rev. Susan Ross officiating. Interment was in Piney Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville. DANVILLE - Kimberly Dare Shaffer, 50, of Havana died Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. She was born April 18, 1963, in Atwater, Calif. She was a customer service rep at Asurion in Russellville and an RN.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ted Trindad; and daughter, Carrie Mae Trindad.
Survivors include her mother, Sheila Collins of Booneville; son, Daniel Shaffer of Havana; two daughters, Shawnda and Mark Nelson of Loveland, Colo., and Rachel Shaffer of Carr, Colo.; sister, Joy and Vernon Middlebrook of Danville; grandsons, Cooper Nelson and Elijah Shaffer; granddaughter, Shelby Nelson; uncle and aunt, Bruce and Joyce Mitchell; cousins, Andy and Debie Charvat, Robert and Amanda Cross, Rickie and Kija Mitchell, Donald Collins, Clifford and Rhonda Collins and Ryan and Alex Cross; nieces, Bridgette Watson and Amber Watson; two great-nephews and a great-niece. Lena O. Shaffer, age 86, of Vian, OK, formerly of Dardanelle died Thursday, October 24, 2002 in Vian, OK. She was born November 11, 1915 in Mena, AR. She was a retired longtime secretary for Federal Corp in Oklahoma City and attended Gore United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Rook of Gore, OK; a son, John Shaffer of Crowley, TX; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Neenah Shamblin, age 62, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cecil Thacker at Danville Friday, May 25, following a heart attack Thursday night.

Mrs. Belle Sharp, age 89, of Casa died Sunday, January 11, 1987 at a Little Rock hospital. She was a native of Bland, widow of Harvey J. Sharp, and daughter of the late John and Savanah Dover Thomas. She was retired operator of Casa Grocery Store.
Survivors include two sons, Boyce Sharp of Pine Bluff and Marvin Sharp of Little Rock; a daughter, Noma Brown of Bryant; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Billy Dean Sharp, 44, of Dardanelle died Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. He was born December 28, 1962, was a truck driver and a Pentecostal.
Survivors include a daughter, Ada M. Sharp of Oklahoma; father Larry W. Sharp of Murrietta, Calif. mother and stepfather, Stella and Clyde Byrd of Dardanelle; brother, Larry W. Bobby Gene Sharp, 70, of Scotland passed from this life on November 2, 2013. He was born on July 2, 1943 to the late Cecil Earl and Elsie Sharp in Dumas, AR. Bobby was a member of the Scotland Baptist Church and was retired from Forsgren Inc. in Ft Smith. He loved hunting, the outdoors, church, and more than anything, his family.
Bobby is survived by his three daughters; Cynthia Morgan, Gloria Sharp, Julia Sharp, six grandchildren; Kendall Sharp, Sharp, Cassaundra Reaves, Cody Sharp, Jazmin Sharp, Colby Sharp, Shelby Owens, seven great-grandchildren, sisters; Sarah White, Shirley Judkins, Linda White, Pam Simpson, Christine McConnell, Ruby Litsey, Janice Donnell, brothers; Cecil Sharp, Jerry McConnell, Jim McConnell, Lonnie McConnell, and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

Iva Gertrude Sharp, age 94, of Casa, AR died Saturday, September 27, 2002 at the Dardanelle Hospital. She was born May 15, 1908 in Yell County, AR to the late Jim and Allie Fields Grant. She was a homemaker and a member of the Carden Bottoms Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Bonnie Johnson and Hazel Boothe.
Survivors are her husband of 72 years, Marshall Dewitt Sharp and several nephews, nieces and friends.

Veron Monroe "Ben" Sharp, age 66 of Ola, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2006. He was born October 16, 1939, in Adona, Arkansas, a son of Veron Othel Sharp and Nancy Elzady Huggins Sharp. He was an agent for the Rock Island Railroad and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Morrilton Branch.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Avery Sharp of Ola; son, Veron "Buddy" Sharp, Jr. of Ft. Charles Courtney Sharpe, 88, of Russellville, retired disbursing officer of Arkansas Tech, died Monday at his home. He was born at Round Mountain, Ala., son of the late C. A. and Julia Chancellor Sharpe. Mr. Sharpe became deputy tax collector of Yell County 1893. Later , he was appointed county collector by Gov. Jeff Davis in 1901, and was elected at the next election to serve as county clerk until 1905. He entered the mercantile business at Danville in 1906, operating the business and farm until 1928. A member of Danville Methodist Church, he served as chairman of the committee which built the present church. He also was a member of the board of stewards and served on the Danville School Board for more than 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Stella Gatlin Sharpe; two sons Claybome J. Sharpe of Russellville and Courtney D. Sharpe of Natchez, Miss.; three daughters, Mrs. Raymond Pledger and Mrs. A. B. Clayborne J. Sharpe, age 95, of Danville, AR formerly of Russellville, AR died Friday, April 18, 1997 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. He was born in Danville, a son of the late Charles Courtney and Maude Gatlin Sharpe. He was a retired employee of Cogswell Motors, having worked for 30 years there, and was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Western Arkansas Consistory, and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Russellville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ola Sharpe, and two daughters, Clara Francis and Doris Charlene Sharpe.
Survivors include three sisters, Faye Pledger and Allie Grace both of Danville and Mary Misenheimer of Little Rock and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was April 21 at the Shinn Chapel with Rev. Mackey Yokem and Rev. David Hawkins officiating. Burial was in the Danville City Cemetery. Courtney Dayton Sharpe, aged 61, of Natchez, Miss., died Friday in a Natchez hospital after a prolonged illness. He was a native of Danville, the son of Mrs. C.C. Sharpe and the late Mr. Sharpe. Mr. Sharpe was sales manager for Natchez Equipment Co. and before going to Natchez he was office manager for International Harvester Co. in New Orleans.
Survivors besides his mother, include his widow, Ellen Robertson Sharpe, two daughters, Mrs. Gene Rogillio of Natchez and Mrs. Darrell Wrobel of Livermore, Maine; one brother, Clayborne Sharpe of Russellville; three sisters, Mrs. Raymond Pledger, Mrs. Carey Morse and Mrs. A.B. John Shatford III (Jack) of El Dorado Springs, Missouri passed away on October 16th, 2016. A celebration of life will take place from 1-5 on Saturday, November 12th, 2016, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 3310 East 380th Road, El Dorado, Springs, MO 64744. Jack was born on August 27th, 1945 in Bedford, Ohio to John H. Shatford and Dorothy Silsby Shatford. He graduated from Truman State with a degree in Biology. Jack has a blessed life with his wife Joy. Jack honored his country by serving in the Army in Vietnam. Jack retired from the Missouri Department of Conversation after 34 years of service. Jack treasured the outdoors as he was an avid hunter and fisherman which he greatly enjoyed doing with his Family and lifelong friends. Jack was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Yell County Wildlife Federation and Ducks Unlimited.
Jack is survived by his loving wife Joy, son Kurt and wife Mary Raymore, Missouri, granddaughter and hunting buddy Sarah Ashley, granddaughter Shelby Lynn, niece Heidi Snellenburg and husband Jonathan of New York, step sister Judy Sinay and her husband Jim, step sister Karen Drake, several nieces and nephews, devoted special friends Len and Avis Cottton, and many caring friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, step mother Irene Shatford, his two sisters Anita Jane and Elaine Sue. So Jack, this is not goodbye; it is only until we meet again. You will be greatly missed.

LaHoma Baker Shawler, Borger, TX. age 94, died on October 2, 2009 in Borger.
Services were Monday, October 5, 2009 in Havana Presbyterian Church in Danville, Arkansas. LaHoma was born May 22, 1915, the daughter of William P. Baker and Lula S. Wadley Baker, in Cimarron, Oklahoma. She married Clifford Shawler in 1946 in Phoenix, Arizona. LaHoma was a beautician for approximately 25 years in Tolleson, Arizona, where she owned her own beauty shop. In 1969, they moved to Havana, Arkansas. Clifford died in 1992 and LaHoma continued to live in Havana until 2000, when she moved to Borger, Texas to be near her nephew, Claude Petty and his wife Inez. She lived in Quinn's Care Home in Borger from 2001 to 2007. She lived in Amarillo, Texas at the Cottages Assisted Living for several months, then Craig Methodist Retirement Center until the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her son Frankie Eugene Carter, four brothers, Code Baker, Charley Baker, Bill Baker, Buford Baker and four sisters, Maude Shires, Gertie Petty Thornton, Grace Baker and Hazel Tucker Vogel. She was also preceded in death by her nephews, Earn Petty and Claude Petty and wife Inez petty, Leon Thornton and Elvie Thornton.
Survivors include her nephew Thurman Thornton and wife Norma of Ruston, LA, and niece Sylvia Robertson and husband Sandy of Madill, OK. Survivors also include Marie Thornton of Weatherford, TX and Gladys Thornton of San Diego, CA and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Irl E. Sheely, 85, of Dardanelle died Friday, June 1, 2007 at Atkins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born January 2, 1922 at Harlem, Montana to the late Emory and Vida Zook Sheely. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, original member of the Yell County Mounted Patrol, long time farmer, heavy equipment operator, and he helped pave Mt. Nebo Road.

Bobby Joe Sheets, age 75, of Jacksonville died Thursday, January 21, 2010. He was born November 18, 1934, in England, AR to Hazel Garland and Maudie Jane McGee Sheets.

Carrie Lois Sheets age 86 of Dardanelle died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at River Valley Medical Center in Dardanelle. She was born January 6, 1926 in Van Buren, Arkansas to the late George and Rose Cossey Cauley. Carrie loved cooking and most of all spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her children, Garland Sheets and wife Sheila of California, Jimmie Sheets, Lynda Carter both of Mt. George and Diane Hale and husband Samuel of Atkins; nine grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.

Garland Hazel Sheets, age 78, of Dardanelle, AR died Friday, April 20, 2004 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. He was born February 28, 1926 in Birta, AR to the late Hazel Garland and Maudie Jane McGhee Sheets. He was a Dardanelle assistant chief of police for many years, drove a school bus for the Dardanelle school district and a WWII Army Veteran.
Survivors include, two sons, Garland E. Sheets of Valley Springs, CA and Jimmie Sheets of Mt. George, AR; two daughters, Lynda Carter of Mt. George and Diane Hale of Atkins, AR; two brothers, Henry Lee Sheets of Bakersfield, CA and Bobby Joe Sheets of Jacksonville, AR; one sister, Pauline Shockley Barber of Russellville, AR; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Lloyd Wayne Sheets, age 76, of Dardanelle passed away with his family at his side on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at Arkansas River Valley hospice Home in Russellville, Arkansas. The son of the late Lloyd Steven Sheets and Lavoy Adriel Oglesby, he was born July 3, 1940, at Lone Pine in Yell County. He was owner /operator of Lloyd's Body Shop for over 40 years. He had a very gifted talent for the craft of the trade. In his teenage years he was diagnosed with the debilitating disease of Diabetes which he handled with dignity. His many doctors were often amazed that he lived to be the age he was due to the severity of the disease. His mother introduced him to the faith of the Presbyterian religion where he accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 14. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Dardanelle for over 62 years. He served as an Elder and was on the building committee for the Fellowship Hall. He served as a member of the Chickalah Rural Fire Department for many years. Lloyd met his wife Peggy while in high school and they were married for 57 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his stepfather Morris Petillo.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sheets, of Dardanelle; sons, Lloyd Steven Sheets (Jill) of Dardanelle, David Lenden Sheets (Sharon) of Rogers, Arkansas; sisters, Willodean Sisson of Russellville, Dorthy Geibe and Juana Weatherall (James) of Dardanelle; five grandchildren, Justin Sheets, Kayla Manatt (Josh) all of Dardanelle, Deirdre, Allison and Garrett Sheets of Rogers; three great grandchildren, Parker and Paisley Sheets and Mallory Manatt of Dardanelle; mother-in-law, Wanda Rollans and a very special aunt, Jessie Reece of Mt. George, whom he loved very much, and many other relatives and a host of friends. Memorial services were held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 9, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church in Dardanelle.
Visitation was held Thursday, 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle. Robert Henry Sheets, age 88, of Dardanelle, AR died Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at the Dardanelle Hospital. He was born November 22, 1910 in Yell County, AR to the late Elish and Tressy Dukes Sheets. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a retired carpenter.
Survivors include his brother, Carl Sheets of Winton, CA and a sister, Jessie Reece of Centerville, AR and several nephews and nieces.
Service was October 8, 1999 at Mt. George Church of Christ with Chris George officiating. Interment was in Mt. George Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home or Dardanelle. Verrell Mixon Shell, age 85, of Dardanelle, AR died Monday, April 20, 1998 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was a past president of Arkansas Credit Association, member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and past president of Ladies Auxiliary, member of Hard Up Girls and Misfits Performing Groups. She retired after 25 years with Jungkind Photographic as bookkeeper/credit manager.
She was survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Jan Ligon of Marietta, GA; two sisters, Annie Laura Jaggers of Dardanelle and Key West, FL, Margaret Triplett of Marianna, GA; one step-daughter, Nancy Partos of Arizona; two grandchildren, Jonathan Ligon and Kara Pair both of GA.

Charles K. (Hank) Shelton, age 64 of Rover, AR died Thursday, June 14, 1994. He was Park Manager for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a retired Air Force Master Sergeant; having served with the Air Force from 1950 to 1971, he received the soldiers Medal for Bravery and saw tours of duty in Japan, Korea, Vietnam and England. He was a member of the Rover Baptist Church and was the retired Fire Chief for the Rover Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Shelton and his sister Elizabeth Albright. Survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Shelton of Rover; one daughter, Mary Ellen Me Burnett of North Little Rock; six brothers, Thomas Shelton of Chesapeake, VA, Jack and Jim Shelton both of Amarillo, TX; Robert Shelton of Broken Bow, OK; Ray Shelton of Memphis, TN and Wilson Shelton of Matarie, LA; three grandchildren, Rebecca Shelton, Amber and Sloan McBurnett.

Cindy Shelton, age 56, of Atkins died Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. She was born April 16, I960 at Russellville to the late Robert J. and Willie Earnestine Fisher Barefield. She attended the Pine Ridge Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mickal Shelton and one nephew, Anthony Barefield.
Survivors include her children, Eric Shelton and wife Jessica of Atkins, Erin Shelton and Wesley Rhoads of Mulberry, Kimberly Qualls and husband Dustin of Russellville, Kelly Treas and husband Ryan of Hector; two brothers, Jimmy Barefield and wife Sylvia, Mickey Barefield and wife Carolyn, Sherry Johns and husband Bruce, Sheila Beville and husband Jim; eleven grandchildren and her two dogs that she loved dearly, Junior Jay and Alphie.

Mickal Jay Shelton, age 53 of Russellville, died Tuesday, February 18, 2010 at his home. He was born December 8, 1956 at New Orleans, LA to the late Herman Tex and Marjorie Joyce Oxen Shelton. He attended Pine Ridge Freewill Baptist Church and was a member of the Atkins American Legion. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and was a truck driver for Mitchell Elser Trucking.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dog Rufus.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen and William McBurnett of Conway; three grandchildren and their spouses, Rebecca Lynn and Mark Campbell of Ozark, Amber Nicole and Scott Harton of Maumelle, and Benjamin Sloan McBurnett of Conway; and other relatives and friends.
