Rice, Mildred Marie

Mildred Marie Rice, age 95, of Springdale, died Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Westwood Health and Rehab, Inc. A daughter of the late John Daniel and Margaret Melvinia Jones Riddle, she was born August 10, 1913 in Rover. She was a member of the Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Camden, Arkansas, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Jake Rice, and a son, Billy Rice.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby J. and Betsy Rice of Ola; three daughters and two sons-in-law Betty and Robert Foster of Springdale; Myrtle Hayley of Little Rock; and Annie and Carl Bell of Springdale; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside was Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the Hunts Chapel Cemetery at Rover, officiated by the Rev. James Draper. Arrangements are by Shinn Funeral Service. Rice, Nettie Small

Mrs. Nettie Small Rice, age 87, of Camden died Sunday in a Camden Hospital. She was the widow of Iverson Rice and was a member of the Rover Baptist Church. She is survived by five sons; Opal Rice of Danville, Otis Rice of Little Rock, J. T. Rice of Dallas, Edgar Rice and Willie Rice, both of Camden. Three daughters, Mrs. Mae Napier of Danville, Mrs. Barbara King and Miss Jaunita Rice both of Camden. Twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. General services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Proctor Funeral Home in Camden with burial in the Camden Memorial Park Cemetery. Odis Lee Rice, age 76, of Katy, Texas, a native of Rover, died Wednesday, November 26, 1986 at Katy Community Hospital. He was a retired carpenter, son of the late Iverson and Nettie Small Rice, and a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Dale Mercer of Katy; three brothers, Opal Rice of Rover, and Edgar Rice and Willie J. Rice of Camden; two sisters, Juanita Rice of Camden and Mae Napier of Danville; three grandchildren, and a great grandchild.

Rice, Opal Fay

Opal Fay Rice, 81, of Dardanelle, AR, died Monday, November 20, 2017 at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville, AR. The son of Opal and Chloe Evelyn Wheeler Rice, he was born August 22, 1936 in Rover, AR. He was a graduate of Rover-Plainview High School. He married Mary Evelyn Hodges, on February 1, 1958 at Dardanelle. Opal was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and he was a self-employed business owner for 50 years in which he perfected his craftwork. He was a member of the Yell County Mounted Patrol. He was a man of faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Doris Rice and Brenda Chambers; two brothers, Jimmy Rice and Alvin Rice.

Opal is survived by his wife Mary Rice of Dardanelle; a daughter Melinda Turnbull (Perry) of Philadelphia, PA; four grandchildren P.J. Turnbull (Dawn) of Clermont, FL; Lindsey Townsend (Ben) of Marion, AR; Whitney Leavitt (Kyle) of Gilbert, AZ; McKenzie Turnbull (Alexis) Philadelphia, PA; eight great grandchildren, Indi and Iris Leavitt of Gilbert, AZ; Maxwell, Kate and Henry Turnbull of Clermont, FL; Gabriel and Naomi Townsend of Marion, AR; and Braelyn Turnbull of Philadelphia, PA; three brothers, Charles Rice (Karen) of Danville, AR; Kenneth Lee Rice of Fort Meyers, FL; Clayton Rice of Perryville, AR and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Danville. President Robert Hall and Perry Turnbull will officiate. Burial will be at Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation was from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Friday, at the funeral home. Otis Lee Rice, age 76, of Katy, TX, formerly of Rover died Wednesday, November 26, 1986 at the Katy Community Hospital in Katy, TX. He was a native of Rover, AR, son of the late Iverson and Netie Small Rice. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Baptist church.

William K. "Bill" Rich, age 66, of Belleville, AR died Saturday, March 30, 2002 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. He was born June 22, 1935 in Waterville, ME to the late Maurice W. and Florence Keay Rich. He was a retired Air Force Veteran, a member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry in the Valley of American Military, Order of NATO Bases, Frankfurt, Germany, 42 year member of Bestor G. Brown Lodge, Wichita, KS, Life member of Air Force Sergeants Association, life member of NRA, and a member of the American Simmental Association and Arkansas Cattlemen's Association.

Survivors are his wife of 45 years, Jo Ann McArthur Rich; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy & James Clements of Pottsville, AR; an aunt, Carrie "Betty" Barnaby of Nashua, NH; six cousins George E. Rich, Polly Farwell, Irene Flesch, Mary Lou Allen, Janis Harriman and Richard Barnaby.

The daughter of James and Novella Sexton Haywood, she was born July 30, 1919 in Aly, AR. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of the Rover Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey A. Richards; her first husband, I. G. Bittle; a son, Bill T. Bittle; one granddaughter, Susan K. Bittle; one sister, and three brothers.

Richardson, Eunice Evelyn (Warren)

Eunice Evelyn Richardson, 86, of Havana, Arkansas, passed from this life on Monday, January 15, 2018, in her home near Havana. She was born May 14, 1931, in Stephens County, Oklahoma. She was a homemaker and a member of the Fellowship of Christians on Jews, the Perrystone Ministries and the Daughters of Rachel Prayer Ministry.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Ethel Latham and Selma Carpenter; brothers, James and Dean Warren; parents, Alvin and Louisa (Ransome) Warren; nephew, Ted Carpenter. A service will be held in the springtime at a later date.

Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

Richardson, Gladys Marie (Dickens)

Gladys Marie Richardson transitioned peacefully to glory Friday, March 14, 2014 with family by her side. Gladys accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age. She united with Sweet Home Baptist Church, then later with Warriors for Christ. Gladys with her late husband, Fentress sacrificed to see their children have opportunities they never had. She was a strong, compassionate woman. Miss Gladys was born August 19, 1925 in Dardanelle to the late Aaron and Jimmie Perry Dickens. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Fentress Richardson, three brothers, eight sisters and one daughter, Patricia Ann Richardson-Thompson.

Survivors include her children, Mary A. Richardson-Covington and Regenia Richardson-Thompson (James) of Dardanelle; Annette Richardson-Wise of Little Rock and Jeffery M. Richardson (Gina) of Edmond, Ok; grandchildren, Clarissa Thomas (Kefus) of Houston, Texas; Joseph Thompson (Talia) of Russellville; Andrea Thompson, Cory and Nathan Richardson all of Dardanelle; Cory Thompson (Antonia, Rory Thompson of Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas; Erika Wise of Fayetteville; L. Drew Wise of Bella Vista; LaKesha Garrett (Edward; Sydney, Justin and Joshua Richardson of Edmond, Oklahoma; ten great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was born June 25, 1931 in Cubero, NM to the late Raymond "Tobe" and Veda Mae Marshall Holliday. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Dardanelle and the Eastern Stars.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Lloyd Magness and a son, Morgan Tobe Magness.

She is survived by her husband of twenty-eight years, Frank B. Richardson; four sons, Calvin Magness of Flagstaff, AZ, Darrell Lee Magness of Cubas, NM; Estell Scott Magness of Cortez, CO and Kay Lloyd Magness of Russellville, AR; one daughter, Margaret Hoskins of Billings, MT; five step-children, James Curtis Richardson of Pensacola, FL, Linda Millburn of Dumas, TX, Venita Richardson of Amarillo, TX, Shirley Magness of Russellville and Lesia Etchberger of Dothan, AL; two brothers, John Holliday of Cortez, CO and Bill Holliday of Freedonia, AZ; one sister, Annabelle Perkins of Feedonia, AZ; 22 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Richison, Charles Edward "Charlie"

His obituary was published 18 March 2012, Russellville, Pope County, Arkansas. Charles Richison Charles Edward (Charlie) Richison of Lone Pine Farm in Danville, Arkansas died unexpectedly Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. Charlie was 83 years old, but was witty, handsome, and sharp as they wheeled him out of the room. Charlie was born on January 14, 1929 in Keota, Oklahoma. He was the middle child of the late Earnest and Ruby Richison. He was raised in Fort Smith, AR and was a talented athlete, lettering in basketball, football, track, and baseball for Fort Smith High. When he went to Arkansas Tech, he again played all four sports. It was during his years at Tech that he found the love of his life, Janette George of Danville, Arkansas. They married 11-18-1951. Charlie was drafted by the Detroit Tigers and progressed through five different farm leagues until injuries ended his career, but never diminished his love for the game. Charlie taught and coached at both Fourche Valley and Danville School Districts, then was successful selling pharmaceuticals in Big Spring and Odessa, Texas. Everywhere they lived, Charlie and January made lifelong friends. In 1965, they moved back to Danville to run George and Richison Abstract Company. He also managed the family farm where they raised quarter horses, cattle, chickens, and three children. Charlie was a past president of Arkansas Land Title Association, Arkansas Tech Alumni Association, and a Charter Member of the Arkansas Tech T-Club. He was also actively involved in numerous civic groups and projects, and served on the Northeast Yell County Water Board. He was the envy of many golfers, even when he was up into his seventies.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William (Bill) Richison.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janette George Richison and three children and their spouses: Bill and Debra Richison Stuckey, Bill and Frances Richison Eubanks, and Dr. George Charles and Ruth Richison and nine grandchlldren, Anna Frances Stuckey Newby, William Compton Stuckey, Rachel Stuckey Slaton, William Thomas Eubanks, III, Helen Debra Eubanks Bartel, Janette Frances Eubanks, Sarah Frances Richison, Katherine Ruth Richison, and Emily Ann Richison. He is also survived by six great grandchildren, Reid Charles Richison, Addison, Emma, and Avery Joy Eubanks, Wyatt Newby and Amaelia Stuckey, a sister, Sue Conner, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Charlie was passionate, smart, and fiercely loyal to his God, his family, and his friends.

Services will be held 2:00 p.m.,Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Danville United Methodist Church and Visitation will be Sunday, the 18th from 4-6 pm at Cornwell Funeral Home. Richison, Charles Edward "Charlie"

Charles Edward (Charlie) Richison of Lone Pine Farm in Danville, Arkansas died unexpectedly Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. Charlie was 83 years old, but was witty, handsome, and sharp as they wheeled him out of the room. Charlie was born on January 14, 1929 in Keota, Oklahoma. He was the middle child of the late Earnest and Ruby Richison. He was raised in Fort Smith, AR and was a talented athlete, lettering in basketball, football, track, and baseball for Fort Smith High. When he went to Arkansas Tech, he again played all four sports. It was during his years at Tech that he found the love of his life, Janette George of Danville, Arkansas. They married 11-18-1951. Charlie was drafted by the Detroit Tigers and progressed through five different farm leagues until injuries ended his career, but never diminished his love for the game. Charlie taught and coached at both Fourche Valley and Danville School Districts, then was successful selling pharmaceuticals in Big Spring and Odessa, Texas. Everywhere they lived, Charlie and January made lifelong friends. In 1965, they moved back to Danville to run George and Richison Abstract Company. He also managed the family farm where they raised quarter horses, cattle, chickens, and three children. Richmond, Janie C.

Mrs. Janie C. Richmond, age 75, of Dover, AR died Wednesday, December 10, 1997 at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born January 21, 1922 in Bearden, AR to the late Artie and Myrtle Jones Lindsey. She was a housewife and mother.

She was preceded in death by a son, Steve Richmond and a brother, Farris Lindsey.

Survivors include her husband, Wade Richmond of Dover, AR; two daughters and son-in-law, Deloma and Jessie Bennett of Dover, AR and Donna Sue Freeman of Dover, AR; a sister, Joyce Lawson of Bearden, AR; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was Saturday, December 13 at the Cornwell Funeral Chapel in Dardanelle by the Rev. Mark Lashley. Interment was in the Owen Cemetery. Richter, William Otto

William Otto Richter, age 84, of Ola died Saturday, December 7, 1985. He was a retired cook.

Survivors include a son, William Otto Richter Jr. of Dyersburg, Tenn.; two daughters, Mrs. Marian Covington of Dyersburg and Mrs. Wanda Buchanan of Wierton, W. Va.; two brothers, Vernon Richter of Casa and Lytle Wayne Richter of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Alva Wilson of Bakersfield, Calif.; six grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

John Clyde Ricker, age 76 of Hampton, died Thursday, June 12, 2008 at his home. He was born February 6, 1932 in Waveland, AR. He was a retired logger and a charter member of Plainview United Methodist Church in Plainview, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Loye Ricker and Evelyn Faye English Ricker; wife, Esther McClure Ricker; two sisters, two brothers and one granddaughter.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Sue Ricker of Hampton, Bill and Kelly Ricker of Morrilton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Ann and Geral McMahan of Locust Bayou, Lori and Kenny Bishop of Wellington, KA, Karla and Chris Phillips of Norphlet; three brothers, Bill Ricker of Marysville, CA, Bob Ricker of Calion, Joe Ricker of Texarkana, TX; three sisters, Eulurle Wall of Russellville, Nell Smith of Ashdown, Beulah Tramel of Russellville; fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

K. D. Ricker, age 53, a resident of Grapevine, TX formerly of Plainview, AR died Sunday, February 9, 1997 at his residence at Calion, AR. He was born June 12, 1943 at Plainview to William and Faye E, English Ricker. He married Joy Dushane on January 17, 1964 at Hobbs, New Mexico. He was retired after 30 years with GTE as a field supervisor.

He was preceded in dead by a brother, George Ricker and a sister, Beth Burnham.

Survivors are wife, Joy Dushane Ricker of Grapevine, TX; three daughters and a son-in-law, Kimberly Joy and Glenn Harvey of Grapevine, Katherine L. and Kelly Ann both of Grapevine, TX; a granddaughter, Alexis Ann Harvey of Grapevine; four brothers, Bill Ricker of Marysville, CA, Bob Ricker of Calion, CA, John Ricker of Hampton, AR and Joe Ricker of Houston, TX; four sisters, Eulurle Wall and Nelle Smith both of Plainview, AR, Beulah Tramel and Nan Smith both of Rogers, AR.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a. m. Tuesday, June 13, 1995, at the Plainview United Methodist Church. Burial was in Salem Cemetery under the direction of Humphreys Funeral Service of Russellville. Visitation was from 7:00 p. m. to 8:30 p. m. Monday, June 12, at the funeral home. Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews. William Bill Ricker, age 88, left this world in peace on Monday, August 10, 2009 with his family in attendance. He was born May 31, 1921 in Plainview, AR. Bill is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mollie, and their four children Ronald Ricker of Nevada, Janice Sims of Yuba City, Rick Ricker of Windsor, CA and Mary Ames of Augusta, Maine. He is also survived by three sisters and two brothers. Bill and Mollie have 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
