Junior Harrison Rhoades, age 78, of Bluffton, Arkansas died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at his home. He was born December 3, 1929 at Young Gravelly, Arkansas to the late George Harrison & Louise Stone Rhoades. He was a retired pipe fitter for Alcoa and a farmer. He also attended Nola Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillie Mae Magness Rhoades; brother George Herman Rhoades and sister, Clarice Kendricks.
Survivors include wife Alice Friend Rhoades; sons and daughters-in-law, Harrison & Judy Rhoades of Benton, Wayne & Susan Rhoades of Gravelly, Jim & Loria Rhoades of Havana, Charles & Dee Rhoades of Benton; daughter, Linda K. Funeral service was held Friday, April 18, 2008 at Nola Church of Christ with Mack Parks officiating. Burial was held at Young Gravelly Cemetery. LEE RHOADES, age 89 of Rockwall, TX, passed away April 14, 2003. He was born March 11, 1914, in Rockwall, TX, to Charles F. & Battice (Lofland) Rhoades. Mr. Rhoades married Helen Burgess of Cooper, TX, on March 14, 1950. He graduated from Texas A & M, Bryant, TX in 1942 with a BSA. He was an agriculturalist, rancher, farmer and lifelong resident of Rockwall, and a member of First United Methodist Church. Mr. Rhoades was also well known for his gardening expertise and often had friends and neighbors stop by for advice.
He is survived by his wife: Helen Rhoades; brother: Joe Rhoades; a nephew; numerous nieces; and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Amy Parks.
Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Friday, April 18, 2003, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith P. Boone and Rev. Sara Hardaway officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. Lessie Rhoades, age 95, of Danville, AR died Sunday, December 15, 2002 at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, AR. She was born in Bluffton, AR, September 8, 1907 daughter of the late Andrew and Mattie Taylor Poda. She was a retired homemaker and seamstress and a member of the Danville First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira "Pat Rhoades; two brothers, Harley and Joe Poda; a son-in-law, William Hogue and a daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn Rhoades.
Survivors include, a son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Katherine Rhoades of Danville, AR; a daughter, Beda Sue Hogue of Gravelly, AR; two grandsons, three granddaughters; seven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two step grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 19, 2002 at 2:00 p. m. at the First Baptist Church in Danville with Rev. Bobby Walker officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Mrs. Lillie Mae Magness Rhoades, age 68, of Bluffton, Yell County, AR died Thursday, October 21, 1999 at her home. She was born July 8, 1931 in Bluffton, AR to the late Opal Magness. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the Lighthouse Christian Church in Wing, AR.
Survivors are her husband, J. H. "Junior" Rhoades; four sons, Harrison Rhoades and Charles Rhoades both of Benton, AR, Wayne Rhoades of Bluffton, AR and Jim Rhoades of Havana, AR; one daughter, Linda Rhoades of Benton, AR; her mother, Ada Hawkins Magness of Ola, AR; one brother, Bill Magness of Waldo, AR; two sisters, Ruby Shinn of Dumas, AR and Mary Brothers of Benton, AR; 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mrs. Margie Rhoades, age 93, died February 23, 1997 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. She was born March 30, 1903, at Gravelly, AR to the late Alfred and Maggie Fowler. She was united in marriage on September 26, 1920 to the late John C. Rhoades. She was a lifelong resident of Gravelly and a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by five children, Fay Rhoades of Gravelly, Buel Rhoades of Nola, AR, Virginia Holland of Oklahoma City, OK, J. M. Rhoades of Midwest City, OK and Allie Lou Gwin of Russellville; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Fowler of Danville; three sisters, Mattie Day of Oklahoma City, OK, Era Mae Marler of Phoenix, AZ and Lorena Pierce of Ola.

Mary Rhoades, age 80 of Gravelly died Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Chambers Memorial Hospital. She was born February 15, 1928 in Nola, Arkansas to the late Ben & Eloise Joslin Morehead. She was a homemaker, poultry farmer and a member of Mulberry Free Will Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Willa Dean James, infant sister, Jewell Dean Morehead and a nephew, Roy Syler.
Survivors include husband of 63 years, B. W. Rhaodes; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Charlotte Rhoades of Nola; daughter and son-in-law Vickie & Jim Roberson of Bluffton; grandchildren, Shaun and Tonia Rhoades of Harvey, Brooke Strunk of Waldron; great grandchildren Makenzie and Kacey Strunk, Randa Rhoades and one more great-grandson to be here in March; nephew Roscoe Wagner of Mt. Ronald Gordon " Rock" Rhoades, 61, of Huntsville, AL passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011. He served in the US Air Force from 1968 1970 and in the US Army from 1970 1996, deployed in both Vietnam and the Persian Gulf War, and earned the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, 2 Air Medals with "V" (valor), 22 Air Medals (w/o "V"), 2 Army Commendation Medals, 4 Army Achievement Medals, Master Army Aviator Badge, among numerous other awards and decorations. He retired with the rank of CW5. More recently Rock worked at QinetiQ North America as the Vice President of the Tactical C4 Directorate. He was a beloved husband, proud grandfather and avid motorcyclist. His sharp mind and ready wit will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Rhoades and Frances "Snooks" (Ramsey) Rhoades.
Surviving Rock is his wife of 40 years, Linda (Probasco) Rhoades; son, Andrew Rhoades; grandchild, Nathaniel Rhoades; step-mother, Katherine "Kitty" (VanPelt) Rhoades; sisters, Stephanie Hettinger, Gwenda "Wendy" Neighbours and Terry Lane; step-sister, Cindy (VanPelt) Dixon; and step-brother, Gary VanPelt.

Rush Olga Rhoades, age 98, died March 7, 1990 at his home in Gravelly. He was a retired school teacher and farmer. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church and member of the Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Gravelly Order of Eastern Star.
He is survived by one daughter, Frances Rhoades of the home.

Mr. Wayne H. Rhoades age 58, of Gravelly, died at his home. Mr. Rhoades was a native of Gravelly, a cattleman and farmer. He was the son of the late Charles and Annie Rhoades.

Mrs. Zula Ward Rhoades, age 66, of Gravelly, died early Tuesday morning, January 12, 1993. She was born in McCloud, OK on February 22, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Newt and Ethel Ward. She was a homemaker and a mother.

Matthew Scott Rhoads, age 21, a resident of Russellville, died Sunday, January 4, 2004, at Opelika, Alabama from injuries sustained in an automobile accident while returning to active duty in the U. S. Army at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was born September 2, 1982, at Calico Rock, Arkansas to Phillip Dave Daniel and Loretta Lee Calmes Rhoads. He was a 2001 graduate of Dardanelle High School, where he was a member of the V. I. C. A. and the R. O. T. C. After graduation from high school Matthew entered the U. S. Army in January of 2002. He enjoyed automobiles and restoration of automobiles.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Mabel Calmes and his paternal grandparents, Art and Kate Daniel.
Survivors include his fiance, Mandy Staggs of Jacksonville; his father, Phillip D. Emmelene (Wood) Kerr Rhoden, 79, of Russellville, AR, died Saturday, June 30, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born April 19, 1933, in Delaware, Arkansas to the late Leslie Edward and Hazel (Berry) Wood. While she began her career as an educator, she devoted more of her professional life implementing programs for the care of those suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's. She was named Coordinator for Missouri's Long-Term Care, Ombudsman Program for Alzheimer's and Dementia. Following her retirement she returned to Arkansas where she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dardanelle, Dardanelle Garden Club, and Dardanelle Book Club. She was also active in Silver Sneakers and Aquatics Group among other activities. Her many accomplishments include founder of the local Widowed Persons Support Group sponsored by AARP; a graduate of Gideon High School in Missouri; a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, where she earned her B.S. in Education; and a graduate of the University of Missouri, where she earned her M.S. in Education.
She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband Dr. Harold D. Kerr.
Survivors include her husband Ronald Rhoden of Russellville; sons, Nathan L. Kerr and partner David Rizzo of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Dr. Philip Kerr and wife Sherri of St. Louis, Missouri; two grandchildren, Zachary Kerr and Adam Kerr of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers, Jimmie Wood and wife Joye of Delaware and David Wood and wife Helen of Dardanelle; two brothers-in-law, Donald Rhoden and wife, Shirley of Florida, and Londie Rhoden and wife Bonnie of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Verna Dean Marker and Bonnie Faye Short both of Florida. Mrs. Julia Mae Rhodes, aged 82 of Mt. George community, died Friday. She was the wife of Earnest Rhodes and was a member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.

Melanie Ann Rhodes age 45 of Dardanelle died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at River Valley Medical Center in Dardanelle. She was born August 17, 1969 in Russellville to Jeanette Pritchett Hale and the late Ronald Lee Pritchett. She was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Greenwood.
She was preceded in death by her father, son, Braedyn Rhodes and maternal grandparents, Bob and Erma Kennedy.

Stella Ruth Rhyne, age 79, of Seneca, KS, formerly of Waldron, AR died Sunday, August 6, 2000 in Seneca. She was a homemaker and the widow of Hoyle Rhyne Jr. She was born August 28, 1920 in Scott County, AR, the daughter of the late Myrten and Mabelle (Hunt) Woodard.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Bettie Mae Owens and a brother, J. R. Woodard.

C. Burr Rice, age 67, died of cancer Saturday, December 29, in a Veterans Hospital in Long Beach, Calif. He was a retired contractor and served three years in the marines on the USS Pennsylvania which was in convoy of our President. Mr. Rice was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Methodist Church. He was born in Conway and moved to Danville at an early age, where he lived most of his life. Mr.
Rice, a World War I Veteran, is survived by his son, Robert Rice; a daughter, Chloe MacLeod; and four grandchildren of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Vinnie Edmondson of Miami, Fla., and Lola Cowger of Danville; and two brothers, Reuben Rice of Danville and Leonard Rice of Cotter. Chloe Evelyn Rice, age 84, of Danville, AR, widow of Opal Rice, died Monday, May 21, 2001 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. She was born March 23, 1917 in Wing, Yell County, AR to the late William Henry and Weltha Riddle Wheeler. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the Rover Baptist Church in Rover, AR.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, C. M. Wheeler and Johnny Wheeler.
Survivors are six sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin Rice, Clayton Rice, Charles & Karen Rice all of Danville, AR, Opal Mary Rice and Jimmy Rice all of Dardanelle, AR, Kenneth Rice of Chicago, IL; two daughters & a son-in-law, Dons Rice of Danville, AR, Brenda & Keith Chambers of Memphis, TN; one sister, Mary Jo Moudy of Ft. Smith, AR and 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; caretakers, R. C. and Winnie Pickens and several nephews and nieces.

Doris Rice, age 58, of Danville, AR died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at UAMS in Little Rock. The daughter of Opal and Chloe Wheeler Rice, she was born June 26, 1949 in Rover. She was a hair stylist for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Alvin Ray Rice.
Survivors include five brothers, Opal F. and Mary Rice of Dardanelle, Kenneth Rice of Justice, IL, Clayton Rice of Danville, Charles and Karen Rice of Danville, Jimmy Rice of Dardanelle; one sister, Brenda and Keith Chambers of Memphis, TN.; eight nieces and nephews.

Edgar Rice, aged 70, passed away September 14, 1989. He was a resident of Camden, where he was employed as a guard for International Paper Company. He was a member of Elliott Baptist Church.

Henry Stuard Rice of Ada, Okla., age 76, retired farmer and rancher, died in an Ada hospital on October 21. He had been in failing health for eight years. He was born in Rover to Mr. and Mrs. John Rice. He attended Rover schools and was married to Mae Burge in Rover October 20, 1912. They moved to Pontotac County in 1920 from Rover. He was a Baptist. J. Louis Rice, aged 44, of 7401 Baseline Road, died Saturday He was a barber. He was born at Plainview (Yell County) son of Otis L. and the late Gordie A. Magness Rice.

Danville Graduate Dies After Vehicle Accident - This is the scene of a fatality accident on Hwy. 27 near Katydid Lane on August 26, 2009. Yell County EMS personnel and Danville Rescue are helping the driver, Jimmy Rice, out of the vehicle. EMS treated him and transported him to Danville. He later died at UAMS. (Record photo by Tom Fowler). Jimmy Rice, age 60, of Dardanelle, a graduate of Danville High School, died last Wednesday, August 26, 2009 after being injured in a one vehicle accident. According to Arkansas State Trooper Shane Bewley, Rice was southbound on highway 27 near Katydid Lane. Rice left the west side of the road, striking a culvert. He was treated on scene by Yell County EMS and taken to Chambers Memorial Hospital. He was later air lifted to UAMS in Little Rock where he later died. Trooper Bewley said Rice was wearing his seat belt and Trooper Bewley said Rice was able to speak at the scene of the accident. Rice was born at Rover and also attended school at Plainview. He was a Vietnam Veteran and he was retired from Firestone.

Jimmy Gerald Rice, age 61, of Dardanelle died Thursday, August 27, 2009 at UAMS in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born November 6, 1947 in Rover, Arkansas to the late Opal H and Chole E. Wheeler Rice. He was a Vietnam Veteran and he was retired from Firestone.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Doris Rice, and brother Alvin Rice.
Survivors include son David Shane Rice of Dardanelle; brothers and sisters-in-law Opal and Mary Rice of Dardanelle; Kenneth Rice of Chicago, Illinois; Clayton Rice of Danville; Charles and Karen Rice of Danville; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Keith Chambers of Memphis, Tennessee; and many other relatives.

John Charles Rice, Jay or J.C. to his kin, was raised in rural areas of Arkansas including Dumas, Rover and Booneville and Yell and Desha counties. He was the eldest of seven born into a sharecropper's family. In the early 50s he moved to southern California for a career as a heavy equipment operator. He retired to Russellville in 1975. He loved to hunt and fish and had many good friends in the area. He was also an avid fan of the Weather channel and the Catfish "N." Born in 1925, John died on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at the age of 86. His reception party included his mom and dad, Lottie and Porter Rice; his four brothers, Richard (RH), Bill (Tuff), Bob and Darrell; his first wife of 25 years, Louise (Lou); his second wife of 40 years, Marie; his eldest son, Dwaine; and his only daughter, Melody (Mel). Kin bidding him farewell are his sister, Sue; his son, Darryl; granddaughter, Jo; great-granddaughter, Hannah, all of New Mexico; and his grandson, Jason and wife Brittany of Alaska. John will be greatly missed, except maybe by the deer, turkeys and fish in Arkansas.
