Mortuary (http://www.spanglermortuary.com) 799 Castro St at 9:30 on Wednesday December 21, with interment at Heaven's Gate Cemetery. Freda Earline Hood was born in Havana, Arkansas, in November of 1932. Her parents were sharecroppers. In her younger years, they would move to California to make some money, and then back to Arkansas to try farming again. During World War II, the family was living in Mountain View. There were seven family members living in what is now Mountain View's "Immigrant House." After the war, the family moved back to Arkansas. Danville, Arkansas was where she met Ed Pruitt. They started dating in June 1947 and married in November of 1949. The newlyweds moved to California via Greyhound bus in June 1950, and started their family. She was a great home cook and perfected the art of pecan pie. She also had about the greenest thumb of anyone we know. She especially loved her African violets. Earline was a caregiver to many. She went to work as a bookkeeper and had that job for about ten years. Earline retired from the bookkeeper job to care for her mother. Later, she volunteered one afternoon per week at the Mountain View Senior Center, and volunteered there for 19 years. Many people would see her smiling face behind the counter of the Mountain View Senior Center. She stopped volunteering there in December 2014. Earline was very involved with her church. She enjoyed many years of singing in the church choir, and she always helped out at the church socials. Earline was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is predeceased by Edward - her husband of 58 years - one infant son, and her brother, Dane Hood.
