Doyce Potter, age 95 of Bluffton, passed away January 15, 2012 at Chambers Memorial Hospital.

Doyce "Doc" W. Potter, age 93, of Bluffton died Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Chambers Memorial Hospital. He was born June 15, 1918 at Aly to the late Rash William and Liller Gabbart Potter. He served in the Military in WWII in Europe as a Medical Ambulance Driver, was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bluffton, AR from age of 14, a member of the Cattleman's Association and a member of the Bluffton Volunteer Fire Department. He was employed at Wayne Farms in Danville for many years, after his retirement he was employed with the Forest Service. He was also a lifelong farmer and an original cowboy. He was involved in many Community Associations and he was a beloved member of the Fourche Valley Community which came together to build him a new family home when his was destroyed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Mariam Gail Potter; brothers and sisters, Ereshel Potter, Hazel Potter Lazenby, Earl Potter, Ivory Potter, Vestie Potter and Ina Potter Telaar.
Survivors include wife, Violet Irleen Potter "Butterfly" of Bluffton; a son, Douglas Lyle Potter; daughter-in-law, Katrina Bromley Potter; granddaughter, Kyrie Alice Potter all of Fayetteville and a brother, Verlon Potter of Kingston.
Funeral service was January 18, 2012 at the Bluffton United Methodist Church with Pastor Osolin officiating. Burial was in Bluffton Cemetery. Earl Lester Potter, age 79, of Bluffton, AR died Wednesday, August 31, 1988 at his home in Bluffton. He was a native of Aly, AR, son of the late W. R. and Lillar Gabbard Potter, a member of the Methodist Church and a Mason.
Survivors include two sons, Billy C. Potter and Joe Pat Potter both of Houston, TX; five daughters, Eddie Gamble of Cleveland, TX, Shirley Harrison and Mary Tousek both of Texas, Virginia Ely of Russellville and Peggy Caldwell of South Carolina; four brothers, Ivory Potter and Doyce Potter both of Bluffton, Verlon Potter of Plainview and Vertie Potter of Dumas, AR; two sister, Hazel Lazenby of Plainview and Ina Teller of Fort Smith; a number of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Aly Man Critically Wounded While Deer Hunting Near Chula - Earnest Potter, 25, of near Aly, was critically wounded in a deer hunting accident near Chula at about 11:30 a. m. Tuesday. Potter was hit by a 25-35 rifle bullet fired by Clint Lambert, also of near Aly. It was reported that Lambert was standing in the road shooting at a deer running through the woods and that his second shot struck Potter. Potter was in the woods about 45 yards from where Lambert was standing. There were a number of hunters in the vicinity, where dogs had been running two deer and Potter was immediately carried out to a car. Wayland Kemp of Danville brought him to Danville, where a doctor treated him, and then took him to the hospital at Russellville. Doctor there said that the bullet struck Potter in the right side toward the back and came out on the left side of the stomach. He underwent emergency surgery Tuesday afternoon and had been given 14 pints o f blood through Wednesday. Mrs. Eulene Kendrick Potter, 89, of Dumas, AR departed this life at Jefferson Regional Hospital Center in Pine Bluff, AR January 16, 2007. She was born December 17, 1917, in Briggsville (Yell County), AR to the late James T. and Hester Daniel Kendrick.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Vestie Potter.

Mrs. Evelyn Riddle Potter, age 67, of Star Route, Plainview, died Saturday morning, May 22, in the St. Vincents Hospital in Little Rock. Mrs. Potter was born in Summerfield, OK, daughter of the late Cleve and Bertha Mae Smith Riddle. She was a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Church of Birta.

Everlee "Granny" Armstrong Potter, age 78, a resident of the Kingston Community in Yell County, Arkansas died Saturday, November 29, 1997 at Baptist Medical Center at Little Rock. She was born on April 2, 1919 at Bluffton, AR to Theodore and Selma Killian) Armstrong. She married Verlon E. on July 23, 1939, at Bluffton, AR. She was a homemaker, member of the First Baptist Church of Plainview and member of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandsons, Timothy Potter and Billy Potter.
She is survived by her husband, Verlon Potter of Ola; two sons and daughter-in-law, Bill T. Potter and Donald R. and Deborah Potter all of Ola; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Thomas Miller of Ola; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

James Clayton Potter passed away November 25, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. James was born April 20, 1954, in Aly, Arkansas to Otto and Verl Potter. James took pride in working hard, from his years as a truck driver to becoming a business owner. In all the miles he traveled for work, he never met a stranger that didn't become his friend. James loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, collecting rocks and his Little Debbie snack cakes. But most of all he loved his family and his greatest joy was his kids and grandkids.
(And of course, his Jeep) James is survived by his long time love, Gail. His children, Michelle Jones and husband Scott of Exeter, California; James W. Potter of Ranger, Arkansas; Grace Cochran of Fort Bragg, California. Grandkids, Samantha Jones, Ashley Jones, Clayton Potter, Aurora Bazor, Charii Jones, Violet Bazor, Melody Bazor, and Marshall Potter. Siblings, Vanita Spears, Nadean Jones, Jearldena Tarkinton, and Carney Potter and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Verl Potter, sibling, Doris Clemmons and Jerry Whitworth. A celebration of life will be held at the Aly Fire Station November 30th at 11:00 am.

Roger Kelly Potter, 75, of Birta died Thursday, September 6, 1990 at his home. He was born in Springfield, OH on June 20, 1915 and spent his childhood in Ocala, FL. As an adult, he moved to Los Angeles, CA where he served with the Merchant Marines during World War II. He later worked as a truck driver for Associated Freight Lines in Los Angeles, CA. He retired in Plainview, AR and moved to Birta in 1966 where he has farmed until the present time. He was a life member of Teamster Local 224 of Los Angeles, CA and a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church of Birta.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Riddle Potter.
Survivors include two sons, Charles R. Potter of Texas and Steve D. Potter of California; two daughters, Mary Pollizzi of Birta and Marie Gaul of California; one step-son, David Hicks of California; one brother Walter Potter of Mississippi; 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchidren.

S. C. "Red" Potter, age 88, of Danville, AR, formerly of Aly, AR, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. The son of Joe and Belle Marcrum Potter, he was born February 23, 1920 in Onyx, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Otto Potter, Burl Potter, Roscoe Potter, Woodrow Potter, Waco Potter, Earnest Potter, Perman Potter and one sister, Ethel Rowland. He will be missed by many friends and family.
He is survived by twenty eight nieces and nephews.

Violet Irleen "Butterfly" Potter, age 93, of Bluffton passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. She was born January 26, 1923 in Bluffton, Arkansas to Joseph Henry & Violet Belle Benefield May. She was very involved in church, community and school. Her home was a gathering place for young people in the community. She was an Avon representative and was employed by the Fourche Valley School.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doyce "Doc" W. Potter; daughter, Mariam Gail Potter; a sister Beatrice Neighbors and brother, Joseph L R May.
Survivors include her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter, Douglas, Katrina Bromley Potter and Kyrie Alice Potter of Fayetteville; niece, Dr. Jo Harper; great nephew, Dr. Mitchell Harper of Fort Smith; and great niece Kimberly White of Texas.

Violet Verl Wilkins Potter, age 91 of Aly, was called to her everlasting home on October 7, 2012. She was born October 29, 1920 in Sugar Grove, AR to Marion and Ida Snow Wilkins. She enjoyed spending time outside gardening, fishing, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Potter; daughter, Jerry Dean Whitworth; grandson, Allen Whitworth; her parents; and three sons-in-law, James Whitworth, Elvin Tarkinton and Gary Worley. Mrs.

Lorene Inez Potts, age 70, a native of Yell County, and a resident of Ola for 41 years, died Monday, March 17, 1986, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born in Chickalah on November 5, 1915, to the late Roscoe Grinder and Venie Langford Grinder.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roscoe Potts. She was a member of the Ola United Methodist Church and Ola Order of the Eastern Star. She was the Ola correspondent for over 25 years for the Yell County Record and for several years for the Post Dispatch.
Survivors include three daughters, Eunice May Douthit and husband Eugene of Ola, Ha Fay Hampton of Venus, TX, and Ada Sue Heath and husband John of McCrory; one sister, Jewel Hampton of Las Cruces, NM; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.
