Thomas Payne, age 76, died Sunday, January 7, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Everett Fink. Mr. Payne was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucinda Payne, of Belleville; two sons, Drewey Payne of Belleville, Fred Payne of California; one daughter, Mrs. Everett Fink, of near Havana; and one brother, Arthur Payne of Dardanelle. Thurman H. Payne, age 93, of Belleville, AR died Friday, April 14, 2006 at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville, AR. He was born January 3, 1913 in Stafford, a son of the late Delmar and Cora Ann White Rayne. He retired after 27 Sears from the Arkansas Highway Department serving as the state equipment inspector. He was a former Belleville City mayor. He was a member and deacon of the Dr. John Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Belleville, a 32 degree mason and a member of Masonic Lodge 394 in Belleville. He was a 1931 graduate of Belleville High School.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Blackwell Payne; a son David Payne and five brothers Leeman, Odell, Olen, William, Hoyt and CJ.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Carroll and Carolyn Payne of Texarkana, AR; a sister, Ann Morris of Fayetteville, AR; a daughter-in-law, Earlene Payne of Danville, AR; four grandchildren, Brad Payne of Russellville, AR, Richard Payne, Todd Payne and Cara Cook all of Texarkana and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral service was April 17, 2005 at the Dr. John Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Belleville with Rev. Bill Storts officiating. Thurman Payne, 93, of Belleville, a longtime member of the Belleville City Council and Mayor of that city died last Friday, April 14, 2006 at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville. Payne served as mayor from 1977 to 1990 as well as serving several years on the Belleville City Council. During his tenure as mayor, he was instrumental in obtaining the first Belleville Fire Department pumper after the city obtained a city-wide water system. While he was mayor, the Belleville City Park pavilion, tennis court and many other improvements to the park were made. He served as an Arkansas Highway Department equipment inspector for 27 years photo of Payne on front page was taken at his retirement). He was a 1931 graduate of Belleville High School, a member of Masonic Lodge No. 394 in Belleville for over 50 years and a 32nd Degree Mason.

SOCIAL CIRCLE - Mrs. Vida May Howell Payne, age 75, of Jacksonville, Fla. a native of Social Circle (Yell County) died August 20.
Survivors are a son, Tyler Payne of Jacksonville; a brother, Dortho Howell of Oklahoma; a sister, Mamie Griffin of Hart man (Johnson County), am three grandchildren.

Virgil Melton Payne, 53, a lifetime resident of Hot Springs, died Friday, March 27, 1958 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hot Springs. He was a member of the Baptist Church, American Legion, VFW and a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lennie Priddy Payne and two daughters, Mary Lenn and Patricia Payne, all of Hot Springs; a brother, Clyde Payne of Long Beach, Calif; and a sister, Mrs. Vera Carter of Hot Springs. Zelmar Payne, 57 year old chief gauger for Cities Service Pipe Line Co. Cushing, Okla. was found dead of a heart attack while on duty south of Cushing, July 22, 1955.
Loyd Carmen, Cities Service engineer, who discovered Payne, said he began to look for the gauger after Mrs. Payne telephoned him that her husband had not arrived for lunch. Carmen said he checked all tanks at the company's tank farm before finding Payne in a relaxed position at the wheel of his car with one arm out the window. The car was partially hidden from view by the tank. Reports found in the car indicated that Payne had gauged a tank about 9 a. m. He had driven his car to the tank, climbed the stairway to the top of the tank made the gauge and returned to his car. His reports were found on the seat beside him and his hat was in the back seat where he had apparently laid it on returning. Cities Service employees had searched the tanks farms after Payne had failed to report in after 9 a. m. The tank farm near Yale was also searched. He was born October 23, 1897, at Havana and was married to Kate Moudy in 1920. He had been employed with the Cities Service Pipe Line since 1927.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Kate Payne of the home, one son, Kenneth Payne stationed in Tokyo, Japan with the Air Force; three grandsons, two brothers, Otho Payne of Bauxite, Paul Payne with the Navy in Cuba and two sisters, Mrs. Gloyd Buckman and Mrs. Lois Oates of Belleville. George W. Pazdera, age 84, of Dardanelle, AR died Thursday, May 30, 2002 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. He was born December 9, 1917 in Dardanelle, the son of the late Frank J. and Cennie Wesley Pazdera. He was a pharmacist, retired from the National Guard Company F 153rd and a Catholic.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Frank Pazdera, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Burchfield Pazdera; five sisters, Cecelia Johnston of Russellville, AR, Elvenia Kunz of Louisville, CO, Helen Holland of Woodland, CA, Dorothy Pazdera, Greenwood, AR and Mildred Barnes, Denver, CO and several nephews and nieces.

Mary S. Pazdera age 87 of Dardanelle died Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born October 5, 1918 at Columbia County, AR to the late John Calhoun and Lou Ellen Henry Burchfield. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dardanelle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Pazdera; four brothers, Tom Burchfield, Jeff Burchfield, Bob Burchfield and Francis Burchfield; two sisters, Ellen Wilson and Lucille Erskin.
Survivors include a brother, Joe Burchfield of Odessa, TX; four sisters-in-law, Helen Holland of Woodland, CA, Cecelia Johnston of Russellville, Dorothy Pazdera of Greenwood, AR, Mildred Barnes of Denver, CO and numerous nephews and nieces.

Robert E. Peak, age 50 of London died Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at his home. He was born March 18, 1955 at South Bend, IN. He was owner operator of the Peak Express Truck Lube in Russellville.

Joe Lloyd Pearce, age 78, of Little Rock, AR passed away, August 15, 2001. He was born in Danville, AR on June 2, 1923 to the late Charles and Bessie Pearce. He retired in 1988 as a civil engineer with the Army Corps of Engineers; he served in World War II in the US Marine Corps; and was also a member of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church for 44 years.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Opha Hicks of Kansas City, MO and Opal Marcum of Bakersfield, CA.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Evelyn Pearce of Little Rock, AR; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephan and Lon Pearce of Alexander, AR and David and Vicki Pearce of Rock Hill, SC; three grandchildren, Jameson, Adam and Madalyn Pearce; two brothers, Charles Pearce of Conway and Houston Pearce of Modesto, CA.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Pearce; parents; son, Harold Dale Pearce; granddaughter, Crystal Wendland; sister, Sallie Lucas.

M. S. Pearce, age 71, died at his home in Danville Sunday morning, November 19, 1950. He had lived in Yell County for the past50 years, where he was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and of the Baptist church. This he was awarded a 50 year pin by the Masons in special ceremonies held at the Danville Lodge. He had recently retired as owner and operator of the Danville Monument Works.

Margaret Ann Pearce, age 71, longtime Stigler resident died Friday, June 4, 2010 in a Fort Smith hospital. A native of Poteau she was born April 5, 1939 to Levine and Ethel (Gabbard) Price. She grew up at Greenwood, Arkansas and Stigler where she was educated. She was married and became a mother and devoted her life to raising her family. She made her home in Yell County, Arkansas for many years before returning to Stigler. She was married to Wayne Pearce on June 21, 1989 and made their home together. She was a one time member of New Hope Church. She loved bright colored flowers, adored her family and loved cooking.
She could make the best chicken & dumplings in the world She is survived by her husband, Wayne Pearce of the home; six children, Retha Brown and husband, Louie of Stigler, Harlen Honeycutt of Stigler, Michael Honeycutt and wife, Gail of Santa Fe, TX, Gena Goff and husband, Larry of Stigler, Anna Mullins and husband, David of Plainview, AR, Jeffrey Highfill and wife, Brenda of Plainview, AR; stepson, Tony Pearce and wife Lisa of Gushing, OK; two brothers. Wanda J. Turner Pearce, 92, of Bryant died December 12, 2013. She was born September 4, 1921 at Havana, Arkansas to Joseph Warren Turner and Dena Lokey. She was a 1939 graduate of Havana High School and a graduate of Arkansas State University of Jonesboro. She furthered her education at Arkansas Tech University, University of Central Arkansas and Memphis State University. She was a teacher for 46 years and taught at Havana, Waldron, Forrest City, and California Schools out of Los Angeles Districts. She was also a member of Retired Teachers Association of Yell County and to the Havana E. H. Club of Havana, AR. She was a member of Upper Spring Creek Free Will Baptist Church in Belleville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Myrle Frazier, and husband Ray Pearce.
Survivors include her children, Gary and Jenny Alford of Olive Branch, MS, Alan and Judy Alford of Cabot, Scott and Libby Alford of Bryant; step-sons, Clint Pearce of Little Rock and Doug Pearce of Conway; grandchildren, Tiffany Bozoudes (Paul), Kristen Agee (Cody), Matt Alford, Hunter Alford, Leigh Clary (Danny); and great-grandchildren Madison Fullington, Hagan Alford and Paisley Agee.

Dona Pearson, age 53, of Russellville, died Sunday, August 11, 2002. A daughter of the late Allen Chase and the late Alda Ione Mayders Chase, she was born March 7, 1949, in Prescott, Arizona. She was an honor graduate of Arkansas Tech University. She was employed through the Russellville School District and the Adult Education Center as an English As A Second Language teacher in Russellville, Dardanelle and Danville. She was a member of TESOL national organization and the Arkansas TESOL and the National Educators Association.
Survivors include her husband, Al Pearson; four sons, Brian Pearson of Clarksdale, Arizona, Benjamin Pearson of Jasper, Daniel and Matthew Pearson of Russellville; three daughters, Janine Reader of Mesa, Arizona, Kimberly McMichael of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Carla Hubbard of Russellville; two sisters, Susan Watt of Clarksdale, Arizona and Judy Hinds of Cottonwood, Arizona; and ten grandchildren.

Dora May Wilson Pearson, 87, of Russellville died Thursday, August 8, 2013. She was born June 10, 1926, in Dardanelle, to Charlie Gus and Silverena May Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Emerson Pearson; and brother, Charles I. Wilson Sr.
Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Theresa Faye and Wally Jones of Colorado Springs, Colo.; caregiver, LaSonya Foster of Russellville; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Fannie M. Pearson, age 82, widow of James Benton Pearson, suffered a stroke and died in a hospital in Fremont, CA on March 23, 1978. She was a resident of Patterson, CA for thirty years, and a former resident of Yell County. Mrs. Pearson was a member of Mulberry Freewill Baptist Church near Gravelly. She was buried by the side of her husband in Patterson Cemetery at Patterson, CA. At the time of her death she was living with her daughter in Fremont, CA.

Ineth Thera Pearson, age 86 of Dardanelle, died Friday, June 14, 2002 at her home. Mrs. Pearson was born December 23, 1915 in Bellview, Arkansas to the late Rufus Arnold and Gertrude Green Young. She was a homemaker, a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Morrilton, attended South New Hope Assembly of God Church and a member of the Easter Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil A. Pearson; an infant daughter, Nancy Pearson; and a sister, Maxine Hunter.

Thomas Newton Pearson, age 77 of Mt. George, Yell County, Arkansas died Wednesday, February 2, 2000 in Fort Smith, AR. He was born September 17, 1922 in the Mt. George Community to the late James and Louvnia Copher Pearson. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, a member of Boyce-Woods VFW Post 3141, the Danville Masonic Lodge 41 and West-Ark Scottish Rites in Fort Smith, AR and a 32 degree Mason. He retired in 1972 as head baker for Arkansas Tech University and then worked in construction.
