Mr. Opal Melton, age 79, resident of DeQueen, AR and former resident of Briggsville, AR died Friday, September 3rd in the Community Hospital of DeQueen. He was born March 29, 1914 at Plainview, AR. He was retired from the Yell County Road Department and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Cooper Melton, who died July 26, 1989.
He is survived by one son: Lonnie Melton of Denver, Colorado; two daughters, Clema Sue Aist of Edgemont, AR and Kay Dishongh Duggan of Gillham; one brother, Edd Melton of Briggsville, AR; one sister, Essie Sexton of Bearden, AR; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Ray Melton, age 58 of Briggsville died Monday, October 6, 1986 at Yell County Hospital in Danville. He was a retired Arkansas State Highway Department employee, a veteran of World War II and the son of the late C. K. and Melvina Keys Melton.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Borders Melton, two sons, Steven Melton of Danville and Michael Melton of Castroville, TX, two daughters, Bambi Jones of Gravelly and Judy Spears of Bluffton, three brothers, Edd and Opal Melton both of Briggsville and Harold Melton of Willits, CA, one sister, Essie Sexton of Bearden, eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, October 8 with Rev. Claud Miles and Rev. Monroe Hunt officiating. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Briggsville. Funeral arrangements were in care of Dixon Funeral Home of Danville. Pallbearers were R. H. Shirley Ann Melton, age 60 of Briggsville, found eternal rest on October 5, 2006. She was born December 31, 1945 in Danville. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the Nola Church of Christ. She worked for Wayne Poultry for seventeen years as a line supervisor and was now a breeder grower for Wayne Farms.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jeff Riley, and a brother, Ricky Riley.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Bobby Melton; daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and O'Neal Lewis of Briggsville; granddaughter, Rachel Lewis; step granddaughter, Samantha Lewis; mother Amy E. Riley of Ola; three brothers, Joe Riley of Pennsylvania, Art Riley of Oklahoma, and Carlton Riley of Ola; three sisters-in-law, Nina Lofland of Briggsville and Barbara Lambert of Delaware; eight nephews and three nieces.

Mrs. Weltha Melton, age 86, of Fort Smith, a former Yell County resident, died today at a Fort Smith hospital. (May 1975) She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Riddle, and was a member of the Belleville Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include a son, Clell Wheeler of Feet Smith; two daughters, Mrs. Chloe Rice of Danville and Mrs. Mary Moudy of Fort Smith; a sister, Mrs. Marie Rice of Camden; 18 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Bernardina Lomeli Mendez, age 67, of Morrilton passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017, at her home. She was born May 20, 1950, in Tequcsauitlan, Jalisco, Mexico to the late Jose Luz Lomeli and Exsiquia Palmas Paredes Ramirez. She was a homemaker and mother. Preceded in death by her husband, Rafael Mendez; parents; sister, Epifania Lomeli Palmas.

Maria Del Consuelo Juarez Mendoza, age 52, of Ola died Sunday, February 1, 2015 at her home. She was born July 15, 1962 at Mexico City, Mexico to Pablo Mendoza and Maria Del Consuelo Rois. She was a Catholic, a home maker and loved taking pictures and playing in the snow.
She was preceded in death by her mother.

Martha Lee Meng, age 87, died Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Riverside Village, Wichita, KS. She was born January 7, 1920 at Fort Scott, KS, the daughter of James E. and Mazie Sievert Trail. A Wichita resident since 2002, moving from Dodge City, she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Daughters of Isabella and Altar Society all of Dodge City. On June 17, 1940 she married Marcus A. Meng at Garden City. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Marc, Jr. and Jan Meng of Eucha, OK, Mike and Theresa Meng of Garden City, KS and Greg and Donna Meng of No. Little Rock, AR; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Gayle Robert Gard of Littleton, CO, Linda and Roger Loewen of Wichita, KS and Judi & Joe Johnsey of Danville, AR; a sister, Maizie Jean Beals of Bedford, TX; 24 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. E. N. Ethel Mercer of Fort Worth, a native of the Turnersville community, were held August 19 in the Owen-Brumley Funeral Home chapel in Fort Worth with entombment in the Laurel Land Mausoleum there. Mrs. Mercer was born Nettie Ethel Wilson in the Turnersville community November 1, 1893, daughter of the late Mr. and Mr. H. S Wilson. She had lived in Fort Worth approximately 50 years and until becoming ill as active in her Sunday School Class at Englewood Methodist Church. She was a past noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge and had received several grand honors from the Grand Lodge of Texas.

Perry Monroe Mercer, age 87, of Ola died Monday, August 29, 1988 at the Yell Co. Nursing Home in Ola. He was a native of Cameron, MO, the son of the late Warren Perry and Gertie Monroe Mercer and a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Tanner Mercer, a son, P. C. Mercer and a daughter, Violet Sue Mercer.

G. A. Meredith, age 69, of Men a, Arkansas died Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Rich Mountain Nursing and Rehab. He was born on Thursday, March 2, 1944 to Gail Freeman and Dorothy May Meredith in Mena, Arkansas. G.A. always was a hard worker and always told his children to be the best that they could be. He served in the United States Navy and after the service he traveled all over the world as an oil driller. G.A. really loved his work. He loved spending time with his family and tinkering in his woodshop making different things. G.A. enjoyed going hunting and fishing. G.A. was a Christian and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bonnie Roberson and Ginger Henry and one brother in law, Lester Campbell. G.A.

G. A. Meredith, age 69, of Men a, Arkansas died Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Rich Mountain Nursing and Rehab. He was born on Thursday, March 2, 1944 to Gail Freeman and Dorothy May Meredith in Mena, Arkansas. G.A. always was a hard worker and always told his children to be the best that they could be. He served in the United States Navy and after the service he traveled all over the world as an oil driller. G.A. really loved his work. He loved spending time with his family and tinkering in his woodshop making different things. G.A. enjoyed going hunting and fishing. G.A. was a Christian and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bonnie Roberson and Ginger Henry and one brother in law, Lester Campbell. G.A.

John Edward Meredith, age 75, of Gravelly passed away Saturday February 11, 2017, at his home. He was born May 21, 1941, in Los Angeles, CA to the late Edward & Enid Meredith. He was a retired mail carrier for 43 years in Corona, CA.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Meredith and his parents.

Homer Ford Meridiem, age 86, of Mena, AR died, January 16, 1998 at the Mena Medical Center. He was born July 30, 1911 to the late Joe Meridiem and the late Mary Sells Meridiem. He was united in marriage to Rose Evans. He worked as a millwright at Lewis Lumber.
Survivors include wife, Rose Meridiem of the home; three daughters, Patsy Jenkins of Cleveland, TX, Coy Jean Quinn of Mena, AR and Mary Sue Varner of Mena, AR; two sisters, Lela Buttrese of Tulsa, OK and Lila Bradley of Mena, AR; step-son, Augie Wigger of Mena, AR; two step daughters, Betty Tucker of Little Rock and Bobbie Jones of Gravelly, AR; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren and 11 step great-grandchildren.

Dana Merritt, a longtime mayor of Dardanelle, died on Monday, March 22, 2004 in the Dardanelle Hospital. He served as Dardanelle Mayor for almost a quarter of century and oversaw many major changes made during his 24 years of service. A new park, the Dana Merritt Park on Hwy. 22 west was named after him in honor of his longtime service as mayor. He served as a longtime member of the Yell County Soil and Water Conservation District and a past chairman of that board.
