Kennedy, A. J. "Al"

A. J. "Al" Kennedy, Jr., age 78 of Danville, AR died Wednesday at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born September 2, 1926 in Greenwood to the late A. J. Sr. and Dessa Moore Kennedy. He was a county extension agent for 32 years, and retired after serving 20 of those years as the Yell County agent. After retirement, he taught agriculture at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. He was a WWII Army veteran and a member of the United Methodist Church in Danville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Larene Linn Kennedy, a brother, Robert Kennedy, and two sisters, Nan Kennedy and Katherine Hill.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Melanie Kennedy of Russellville, and Tom and Kristi Kennedy of Little Rock; a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Danny Jones of Magazine; a twin brother, Cal Kennedy of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Kara Jones Binz of England, Robert Jones, John Kennedy and Jim Kennedy, all of Little Rock, and Hannah and Hatley Kennedy, both of Little Rock.

Services were held Friday, at the United Methodist Church in Danville with Rev. David Hawkins officiating. Interment was in Earl Ladd Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville. Pallbearers were Jay Younger, David Damon, Larry Stanberry, Bob Staton, Bood Keathley, and John Payne. Honorary include A. C. Mowery, Boss Mitchell, J. D. Kennedy , A. M. "Dump"

A. M. "Dump" Kennedy, Jr. 81, of Havana died Sunday at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. Born December 22, 1924, in Rogers, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Artemus Montgomery, Sr. and Pearl Mott Kennedy. He was a member of the Assembly of God, WWII Navy veteran, and a longtime fox and coyote hunter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Geniece Terry.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lena Yandell Kennedy of Havana; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Dinah Kennedy of North Little Rock, Lonnie and Nancy Kennedy of Russellville; brother, John H. Kennedy of Ventura, CA; sister, Maggie Morris of Little Rock; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, at the Havana Assembly of God Church with Rev. Bob Caldwell officiating. Arthur Allen Kennedy, age 87, of Russellville died Friday, March 15, 2013 at his home. He was born August 22, 1925 at Dardanelle to the late Arthur William and Blanche White Kennedy. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was retired from Firestone.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vivian Gaddis Kennedy; one son, Dan Kennedy; three sisters, Jeanie Gaddis, Lyda Ellis and Elsie Lee Turner.

Survivors include one daughter, Connie Kennedy Bailey and husband Dwight of Maumelle; one son, Richard Kennedy and wife Phyllis of Conway; two sisters, Carol Thacker and husband Leroy of Maumelle, Katherine Kennedy of Maumelle; ten grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and many other relatives and friends.

Kennedy, Katheren Dale

Katheren Dale Kennedy, age 81, passed away January 13, 2015.

Born April 4, 1933, she was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur W. Kennedy and Blanche Kennedy George; one brother, Allen Kennedy; three sisters, Lyda Ellis and husband PJ Ellis, Jeanie Gaddis and Elsie Lee Turner.

She is survived by a sister, Carol Jean Kennedy Thacker; one brother-in-law, David Gaddis and many nieces and nephews. Katheren resided many years at the Pathfinder Home in Jacksonville before she had to go to the nursing home in 2012. She loved the girls at the Pathfinder Home very much and loved her work there.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 16, 2015 at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Bro. Tom McElmurry officiating. Burial will be in Brearley Cemetery. She was the daughter of the late Willard and Jimmie Steward Yandell. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, a homemaker and retired from Today's Kids in Booneville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, A.M. "Dump" Kennedy, and brother, Oren Yandell.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, John and Dinah Kennedy of North Little Rock, Lonnie and Nancy Kennedy of Russellville; brother, Owen Yandell of Havana; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Kennedy, Lorene Linn

Lorene Linn Kennedy, age 79, of Danville, AR died Monday, October 6, 2003 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. She was born in Morganton, AR on November 23, 1923 daughter of the late S. P. and Ara Gardner Linn. She was a graduate of Arkansas State Teachers College, she retired after 33 years of teaching, she was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church and the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Survivors include, her husband of 50 years, Al Kennedy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Melanie Kennedy of Russellville, AR and Tom and Kristi Kennedy of Little Rock, AR; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Danny Jones of Magazine, AR; sister, Hazel Wood of Morganton, AR; six grandchildren Robert Jones, Kara Jones Binz, John Kennedy, Jim Kennedy II all of Russellville, Hannah Kennedy and Hatley Kennedy both of Little Rock, AR.

Kennedy, Ray

Ray Kennedy, age 58, of Dardanelle went to Heaven Monday, September 24, 2007. He was a born December 12, 1948 at Oklahoma City, OK to the late Truman and Violet Fryer Kennedy. He was a Marine Veteran and retired from Tyson in Dardanelle where he was a truck driver for 17 years.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Kennedy.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Kathleen Kennedy of Dardanelle; son, Dustin Kennedy of Dardanelle; two step children, SGT. Robert Campbell and wife Miho Campbell of Japan, and Misty Campbell of Jefferson City, TN.

N. O. "Pop" Kenner, age 95, of Knoxville died Sunday, February 11, 1985. He was a retired telegrapher for Western Union and Missouri Pacific Railroad; a Mason and a member of First Baptist Church at Knoxville.

Survivors include a son, William H. Kenner of Knoxville; three daughters, Alta Jarmon of Oklahoma City, Okla., Fern Green of Hyattsville, Md. and Lorene Sauls of Russellville; a sister, Bertha Lowery of Lawton, Okla.; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Kennon, Zell Etta

Mrs. Zell Etta Kennon, age 92 of Danville, died Saturday, December 28, 2002 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. She was born in the Union Hill Community in Scott County on February 20, 1910 to the late Claude and Rosie Osborn Parker. She was a child day care employee at the Head Start Day Care Center at the foot of Danville Mountain, and one of the oldest members of the First Baptist Church in Danville.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Wes Crowley and Alpha Kennon, and one daughter, Patsy McCown; three sisters, Lucille Heron, Sybil Miller, Ruby Vaughn, and a son-in-law, Roscoe Hays.

Chester Kent, age 89, a resident of Russellville, died Tuesday, October 29, 2002, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was born October 6, 1913, at Norwood, Missouri to the late Jacob Harvey and Gertrude Rebecca Shepard Kent. He was a Pentecostal and attended the Gospel Tabernacle. He was a former truck driver, and enjoyed peddling fruits and vegetables around the county. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Kent; a sister, Alta Pipes; 2 grandchildren, Debbie Andrews and Kenny Ketcherside; and a great grandson, Brain Andrews.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Ruth Kent of Russellville; 3 daughters and a son-in-law, Dorothy and Euel Ketherside of Russellville, Donna Wade of Russellville, and Shirley Linton of Dover; a sister, Leona Williams of Dardanelle; 9 grandchildren, Sherri Olson, Letty Gunter, Cathy Lackey, Bobby Andrews, Chyrel Feltner, Regina Pendergraft, Dennis Wade, Doug Wade, and Rhonda Dycus; 28 great grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Jack Grant Kerr, age 74, of Ola, AR. died Monday, February 8, 1999 at his home. He was born October 17, 1924 in Benton, AR. to the late E. Jack and Mary Collins Kerr. He retired from 3M Corporation with the Big Rock Division and the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department. He was a graduate of Central High School in Little Rock, attended the Arkansas Business Law School in Little Rock, was a WWII Navy Veteran and played in the United States Navy Band after graduating from the Navy School of Music in Washington, D. C.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Cook Kerr; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Bruce Glover of Fort Smith; two grandsons, Colin Mantooth and Kelly Glover both of Ft. Smith, AR.

Kersh, Kenneth G. (Dr.)

Dr. Kenneth G. Kersh of Dardanelle passed away on March 23, 2011. Kenneth was the son of George and Georgia Kersh of Fort Smith. His professional collegiate career included the positions of associate professor, full professor, department head, academic vice president and he completed his career as a university president at Arkansas Tech. Dr. Kersh was named the 10th President of Arkansas Tech University in 1973. Dr. Kersh spent over 20 years at Arkansas Tech University. Dr.

Kersh is survived by his wife, Nancy; their five children, Graham and Lily Kersh, Richard and Gina Kersh, Kimberly Kersh, Georgia Kersh Nana and David Winters; grandchildren, Lauren Kersh, Jessica Kersh, Savannah Dye, Shelby Dye, Richard William Kersh, Dane Winters, Nash Winters; and by his sister, Patsy Brown of Springdale. He was preceded in death by his father Charles Ketcherside, his older brother Charles Ellis Ketcherside. and his grandparents.

He is survived by a son, Steven Ketcherside Jr. of Dover, a daughter LeAnn Foster of Dover, 3 grandchildren, mother and step-father, Martha Middleton and husband D.C. of Dardanelle, 3 sisters, Teresa Crites and husband Jeff of Greenbrier, Sandra Ketcherside of Ola, Laura Westbrook of Dardanelle, one brother John Ketcherside of Ola, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Keyes, Robert

Atlanta Pilot Dies In Plane Crash On Mt. Magazine - Robert Keyes, 28, an Atlanta, Ga. pilot, was killed Sunday when his twin-engine plane crashed on Mt. Magazine. Keyes was flying the new plane from the Cessna factory in Wichita to the DeKalb Peachtree Airport in Atlanta. Apparently no one saw the crash. The wreckage was sighted about 5:15 p. m. by forest rangers in the Mt. Magazine fire tower. An Army search plane from Ft. Chaffee located the plane just before dark on directions from forest personnel and circled the wreckage until State Police had it located. It had crashed about one-fourth mile from the bluff near the Brown Branch recreation area. Searchers had to follow a logging road and hike about two hours before reaching the wreckage about 10 p. m. Keys, Bertha (Murray)

Bertha Keys, 86, of Malvern, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at HSC Medical Center. She was born November 28, 1925 in Hot Springs, to John and Agnes (Hopper) Murray.

Survivors include son, Larry Keys and wife Shirley of Royal; daughters, Cheryl Kapella of Hot Springs, Nancy Mucci and husband Vince of Johnson City, TN, and Jude Burrow and husband Steve of Malvern; and brother, Pat Murray of Kansas City, KS. Bertha had nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service was April 6th at Rockport Cemetery with Brother Mark Thornton officiating. Special thanks to HSC Medical Center staff and nurses, ICU Department, and Dr. Shawn Purifoy. Mrs. Dorcas Sina Keys, wife of James Douglas Keys, Briggsville, died February 11, and was buried February 12, 1941, in Briggsville Cemetery. She was a devoted Free Will Baptist since the age of 15. Mrs.

Key is the mother of 11 children and is survived by four girls, Mrs. Melton, Mrs. Menney Spears, Mrs. Nancy Spidhour and Mrs. Mandy Land, all of Arkansas; two boys, Charlie Keys, Texas, and Jim Keys of the home. George Bradford Keys, age 79 of Dardanelle, died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at his home. He was born February 29, 1928 at River Mountain in Logan County to the late James B. and Bitha J. Billings Keys. He attended the Baptist Church and was a member of Boyce Woods VFW Post #3141, DAV and was a 32 Degree Mason.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clarence, Bruce and Carl Keys; two sisters, Clara Parker and Clora Roulston Jay.

Survivors include three stepdaughters, Danita Lynn Burlson of Springdale, Sonya J. Brent of Russellville, Leshea M. Moody of Alva, FL; one sister, Mary Ferebee of Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

Glenda Gay "McGlothin" Keys age 55 of Dardanelle died Friday, January 3, 2014 at River Valley Medical Center. She was born March 2, 1958 at Russellville to the late Dick and Mae McGlothin. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Dardanelle, and loved spending time with her family, going fishing and writing in her journal.

She was preceded in death by her parents and the father of her children, Don Morgan.

Survivors include her husband, Lemuel Keys of Dardanelle; two children, Ashley Lievsay and husband Bobby, Amanda Kisling and husband Billy Joe all of Dardanelle; three stepchildren, Timothy Hutts of Mississippi, Michela Keys, Richard Keys both of Russellville; two sisters, Kay Parker and Carla Sims and husband Montie all of Dardanelle; one grandchild, Aaron Jones of Dardanelle; step granddaughter, Ivy Elizabeth Keys of Russellville and a special family friend, Randy Moore.

Alta "Dean" Kidder, 72, a resident of Dardanelle, AR died Thursday, December 16, 2004, at Chamber's Memorial Hospital in Danville. She was born July 1, 1932, at Snowball, Arkansas to William Clayton and Clara Milam Polk. She was a former employee of Wayne Poultry in Danville. She enjoyed crocheting, hunting and spoiling her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Kidder; her son Robert W. "Chubby" Kidder; and two sisters, Millie Kelley and Alice Woods.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Richard Humphreys of El Dorado, Arkansas; two brothers, L. C. Polk of Warren, Michigan and Charles Polk of Waterford, Michigan; three sisters, Barbara Mills of Commerce Township, Michigan, Peggy Parker of Dardanelle, and Jo Parker of Russellville, AR; 3 grandchildren and their spouses; two great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral was Monday, December 20, 2004, at the Nimrod Baptist Church at Nimrod with Rev. Lonnie Smith officiating. Burial was in the Nimrod Cemetery at Nimrod under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. Lomenzo Kidder, 64, of Nimrod died November 12 at the Yell County Hospital in Danville. He was a retired farmer.

Kidder, Robert W.

Robert W. Kidder, age 42, of Perryville, AR died Wednesday, March 12, 1997 at his home. A son of the late Robert Kidder and Mrs. Alta Polk Kidder of Perryville he was born October 22, 1951 in Pontiac, MI. He was a railroad worker and a member of the Nimrod Volunteer Fire Department.

With his mother he is survived by one sister, Pat Humphreys of El Dorado; three nieces, Sheryl Edwards of Magnolia, Sara and Shelia Humphreys both of El Dorado and his companion, Ella Bryant of Nimrod.

Pallbearers were Mike Eden, Ray Morrow, T. J. Bruck, Lee Payne, Keith McNeal, J. C. Crain, Terry Davis and David McNeal.

Funeral service was March 15 at the First Baptist Church in Nimrod with burial following in the Nimrod Cemetery by the Rev. Stan Payne. Kierre, Johnie Joseph

Johnie Joseph Kierre, Jr. of Dardanelle, passed away November 9, 2007 at the age of 78. He was born October 22, 1929, in Little Rock, AR to Johnie Kierre, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Kierre. He worked in sales and advertising for the past 23 years at Petit Jean Meat Packing Company in Morrilton, AR. He was a member of the St. Augustine's Catholic; Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree; Elks Club; Master Gardener; and served as a U. S. Marine. He attended clown school and portrayed Emmett Kelly in parades. On October 10, 2006, the selection for the prestigious Charlie Johnson, Tourism of the Year Award, went to Johnie Kierre, Jr. a person that was well known in Conway County, but was also well known in the tourism circles around the state.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim and Lee Kierre; a sister, Barbara Hines; and infant grandson, Jacob Hays Kierre; and an infant granddaughter, Debra Dawn Kierre.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Kierre of Dardanelle; a brother, Willie Kierre of Cisco, TX; four children, Patrick Kierre, Barbara Thompson, Tommy Kierre all of North Little Rock, AR, and Mike Kierre of Beebe, AR; three step children, Loren Lomax of Russellville, AR, and Kathryn Lomax, Joel Lomax both of Springfield, MO; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren.

Rosary was held November 12 at 6:30 p. m. at Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel in Dardanelle with Father Ernest Hardesty officiating. Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. Augistine's Catholic Church in Dardanelle. Interment was held in Riverwood Memorial Gardens in Maumelle under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle. Memorials may be made to the Susan G.
