Robert Jessie James, age 77, of Danville, AR died Tuesday, June 26, 2001 at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville, AR. He was born August 24, 1923 in Havana, AR to the late Jake Sr. and Vela Mobley James. He was a member of the Baptist Church, a 32 degree Mason and retired after thirty years as a foreman of a chicken catching crew for Wayne Poultry in Danville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John James and Jim James and one sister, Lizzy Priddy.
Survivors are, one brother, Jake Jr. and Ruthie James of Danville, AR; one sister and brother-in-law, Florene and Carroll Ramey of Danville, AR and a sister-in-law, Lucille James of Danville and several nephews and nieces.
Services were Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Danville with Rev. Charles Lacy Minnie and Rev. Delton Beall officiating. Ruthie James, age 83, of Danville passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at her home. She was born April 19, 1932, in Etta, Mississippi to the late Ernest & Sadie Cupp Jones. She married the love of her life, Jake James Jr. on September 6, 1949, in Marion, Arkansas. She was a retired LPN from the Yell County Hospital. Ruthie was very active at the Leon Millsap Senior Center where she loved playing bean bag baseball. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren in all of their sports and activities. Jake and Ruthie also enjoyed woodworking and making crafts and was the Host at the Dardanelle State Park for many years. She enjoyed meeting and making new friends, who visted from all over the world.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Ruth Ann Sloan; granddaughter, Sunny Lee Susanne James; brothers, Fred Jones, Ernie Jones; sisters, Birdie Green, Ada Sipes, Lucille James, Sadie Meyer, Grace McCreary, Ernestine McCollum and Molly Jones.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Jake James Jr.; daughter, Martha Sue Wagner of Danville; son, Benny & Regina James of Dardanelle; grandchildren, Jennifer Mitchell of Danville; Brigette & Darrell Cobb of Havana; Brandi & Tim Tyra of Danville; Colt Wagner of Danville; Katelyn James of Dardanelle; Bo & Kailey James of Ft. Rucker, AL; sister, Rosa White of Russellville; brother, Paul Jones of Waveland; great- grandchildren, Bailey Mitchell of Dardanelle; Kelsie Via of Havana; Mikey Mitchell of Danville; Trent Cobb of Havana; Logan, Lily and Adalie Tyra of Danville; and great-great-grandson, Trennan Brown of Havana.

Local Man and Companion Killed by Falling Boom -- Doyle Luker, of Little Rock formerly of Plainview and Sidney James Jr., North Little Rock were killed Tuesday afternoon when a boom of a crane fell and crushed them.
Luker was a veteran of World War II, serving as an aviation ordinance man in the Pacific. He entered the service in May 1940 and received his discharge in May 1946, having earned 13 battle stars in the Pacific. Luker's only brother was killed in the Pearl Harbor attach. Sunny Lee Susanne James, infant daughter of Benny and Regina Pearce James, died Friday, May 30, 2003 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.

Troy James, aged 59, of Belleville Rt. 1 died at his home Monday, June 11. He was a farmer and member of the Free Will Baptist Church.

Una Fair James, passed away September 15, 2002 at the age of 78. She was born March 26, 1924 in Dabney, Arkansas to Celce and Annie Martindale Bridges. Fair was saved and baptized at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church near Tilly, Arkansas. Fair was married to the late Jessie Robert James and was a member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in Gravelly, Arkansas where she had lived since 1945. She was a mother and worked on the farm with her family all her life.

Vernon Lloyd James, 88, formerly of Blue Ball, Arkansas, died Monday, August 14, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville, Arkansas. Born September 5, 1917 at Blue Ball, to the late Richard Thomas James and Oma Ann McCubbins James. He was a member of the Egypt Freewill Baptist Church of Blue Ball and retired since, August 1979 from Pennzoil United Gas Company of Houston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kenneth Lloyd James of San Antonio, TX; a sister, Sybil Juanita James Tidwell of Nowata, OK and a brother, Burlous James.

Virginia James, age 86 of Waveland, AR, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Oak Manor Nursing and Rehab in Booneville. She was born January 23, 1923 in Waveland, AR to the late Harley Thomas and Mary Ricker Williams. She was a member and Sunday School teacher at Waveland Community Church, past president of the Yell County E. H. Council, member of the Waveland E. H. Club and retired Arkansas Teachers Association.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raydus Ree James; sisters, Willie McBride and Media Beth James.

Mr. Virgel [Virgle] James, about 30, son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry James, Gravelly, fell from a truck at Gravelly Tuesday and was fatally injured. He was rushed to the hospital at Russellville and died some time later.
He is survived by his parents, sisters, Mrs. Laratime Fowler and Mrs. Sadie Fowler, brothers Jesse, U.S. Army, Lynn, Cecil and Junior.

Wayne Eugene (Gene) James, more often called "Wayne E or "Poppy" went home to his Heavenly Father, Tuesday, January 28, 2014 in Gravelly, Arkansas. Gene was born September 9, 1929 to Perry Chaplan James and Lessie Cunzania (Hunt) James in Briggsville, Arkansas. Gene was 84 years, 4 months and 19 days old. Gene left us peacefully and quietly in his sleep, in the comfort of his rocking chair. Being the youngest of eight children, it was only natural that Gene was commonly known by his siblings and people of the community as "runt". But this was no bother to him, as he was ALWAYS stirring the pot to aggravate or joke around and share that sinister smile of his. His fun loving nature couldn't help but be contagious. A veteran of the U.S. Military, he not only served his country but his beloved family and home as well. He enjoyed being a cattle farmer. Gene lived a life devoted to God as a Baptist and he was a member of the F & AM Masons. He was a 50 year member of Lodge #123 in Bluffton, Arkansas. While being a diverse individual, Gene was a man of work ethics and never ending love for his family. Time spent with them were among his most treasured memories.
Gene leaves behind to cherish his memory, his dear wife and a loving family of three children. He was a proud grandfather to seventeen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Gene will be missed by all that knew him and the many whose lives were impacted by him including a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, neighbors and loved ones.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Perry James and Lessie Cunzania (Hunt) James as well as siblings, Virgil, Laura, Jesse, Lynn, Sadie, Cecil and Perry Jr. Gene's life celebration will be at 10:00 a.m.

William Thomas James, who formerly lived for many years in the Piney neighborhood; but for the past few years at Bauxite, passed away there on October 16th, 1948 and was buried at the Piney Cemetery Sunday evening, October 17th, in the presence of many of his old friends and relatives. Gloria Kathryn Janway, 81, of West Utah Street, passed away Monday, January 15, 2007, at her home.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. today at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Otis Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby W. Fuller and Jerry Young officiating. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Gloria was born to Laurie and Lucille Campbell in Three Sands, Okla. on November 4, 1925. The family moved to Carlsbad where she attended school and met and married Ardell H. Janway on July 28, 1941. Gloria, along with Ardell, were charter members of Otis Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ardell Janway who passed away on January 5, 1997, sister Syble Toby, and grandson Bobby Freeman.
Survivors include two daughters, Loretta Freeman of Carlsbad, and Jeanette Young and husband Richard, of Carlsbad; son Dale Janway and wife Cheryle, of Carlsbad; sister-in-law Arlene Fuson and husband Bill, of Carlsbad; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Hollis G. Janway, 63, of 1703 So. Harrison Street, a retired guard for the Little Rock School District, died Thursday. Mr. Janway was a Methodist and a member of Brady Masonic Lodge and Paron Masonic Lodge.

Jesse Janway, pioneer farmer and blacksmith in this area, died Friday at GMC at the age of 86. A family spokesman said he suffered a heart attack. Born September 1, 1901 in Oklahoma, Janway was raised in Arkansas. He came to the Eddy County area with his family in 1928. Beginning with a watch-and-gun repair business, he eventually captured the blacksmith trade in the small farming community of Otis about five miles south of Carlsbad. He operated his business in the same location for 56 years before retiring in 1984. Plying a vanishing trade, Janway became well known as he and his work were subjects of a number of newspaper and magazine articles.
Funeral services were held today in the Otis Baptist Church, with the Rev. Harry Brooks officiating. Janway married Nancy Porter in Clarksville, Ark. in 1919. He was a member of the Otis Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, Carlsbad, one daughter, Arlene Fuson, Carlsbad; one son, Ardell Janway, Carlsbad; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bobbie Harold Jay, age 69, of Delaware, AR died Sunday, March 9, 1997 at the Dardanelle Hospital. He was born December 31, 1927 in Delaware, AR to the late Lee and Pearl Griffen Jay. He was a WWII and Korean Veteran receiving the Purple Heart. He retired from the Navy after serving 21 years and was a member of the New Blaine VFW Post Brewer-Rollins 8383 and a farmer.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Orvil Jay, Lee Roy Jay and Glen Jay and two sisters, Ima Manuel and Oral Manuel.

Clora Keys (Rolston) Jay, age 83, of Oklahoma City, OK passed away January 9, 1999 at South Park Nursing Home where she has lived since December 16, 1997. She was born November 4, 1915 in Dardanelle, AR. to James Bradford and Tobitha Jane (Billings) Keys. She was one of seven children. She married her first husband, David Joseph Roulston March 7, 1931. He preceded her in December 6, 1970. She married George Jay in 1974. She has lived in Oklahoma City for the past 61 years. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. In 1941 she began working at Wilson Food Company until her retirement. She enjoyed spending her time gardening and with her granddaughter and great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence, Bruce and Carl Keys.
She is survived by one son, Doryce Roulston and his wife, Ora Lena of Del City, OK; granddaughter Kelly and her husband, Bob Weaver of Okla. City, OK and two great granddaughters, Courtney and Hayley Weaver; a brother, George Keys of Dardanelle, AR; two sisters, Clara Parker of OKC and Mary Ferbee of Virginia Beach, VA; as well as many other loved ones and friends.

Kenneth Eugene Jay, Sr. age 78 of Dardanelle, died Monday, September 8, 2003 at his home in Dardanelle. He was born October 25, 1924 in Delaware, Arkansas to the late Lee and Ima Pearl Griffin Jay. He was a WWII Army Veteran, member of Boyce-Woods VFW Post 3141 in Dardanelle where he served as quarter master, and was a retired government inspector for poultry plants, a carpenter and a member of the Faith Church of Dardanelle.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Orval, Glen, Bobby and Harry Jay; two sisters, Oral and Ima Manuel; two stepsisters, Ocie Wood Clark and Ruth Bata.
Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Janetta Lee Vaughn Jay; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth E. Jr. and Shirley Jay of Dardanelle, Roger and Jan Jay of Little Rock, Jerry and Glenda Jay of Russellville; a daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Wayne Terwilliger of Mayflower; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Milbern and Cindy Jay of Redding, California, Rev. David and Cilestene Jay of Dardanelle; one stepbrother and sister-in-law, Bill and Minta Winner of Delaware; stepsister, Dortha Vassaur of Delaware; ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Services were Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at the Faith Church with Rev. David Jay officiating. Interment was in Graves Cemetery, Delaware with military honors by Boyce-Woods VFW Post 3141 in Dardanelle. Claud Murphy Jean, Sr. age 70 of Belleville died Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at his home in Belleville. He was born February 15, 1934 in Riley Creek, Yell County, Arkansas to the late William Benton and Urcy Mae McBride Jean. He was a 1953 graduate of Belleville High School, was a Staff Sergeant in the Korean conflict and Arkansas National Guard and retired after 36 years from Wayne Farms in Danville as the maintenance supervisor. He was a cattle farmer and a member of the Yell County Cattleman Association.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Boyd Jean, sister, Estelle Jean Christy and twin infant sister.
Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Claude Jr. and Darlene Jean of Belleville, granddaughters, Kayla Jean and Lakin Jean both of Belleville, sister, Freeda Jean Banning of Danville, niece and nephew-in-law, Dr. Shelly J. Banning-Tippin and Dr. Phillip B. Tippin of Ola, mother of his Son, Betty Jean of Belleville, great-nephews and great-nieces, Taylor Tippin and Alex Tippin.
Services were held June 17, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Havana with Rev. Jeff Smith officiating. Interment was held in Russell Cemetery with military honors by Boyce-Woods VFW Post 3141 in Dardanelle. Littleton Jean, 78, of Belleville died at the Yell Co. Hospital January 20. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Belleville Baptist Church and a veteran of World War I.

Odell Jean, age 79, died September 7, 2001 at his residence in Wheatland, CA. He was born in Danville, AR, he was a Yuba Sutter resident for 40 years. He was a longtime dairy farmer in Wheatland. He also served in the U. S. Army during WWII.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nadine Jean of Wheatland; a daughter, Gail Hauck of Wheatland; three brothers, Ray Jean of Yuba City, CA, Jimmy Jean of Oroville and Raymond Jean of Colfax; two sisters, Ruby Albright of Live Oak and Janelle Fleming of Wheatland; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, E. S. and Dottie Bolinger Jean and two sisters, Clynell Sickles and Wanda Thornburg.

Patsy Ann Jean, age 67, of Riley Creek, died March 26, 2007, at Mitchell Nursing Home from complications from a stroke.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ed Yates. She was born on January 22, 1940 in Onyx. She was a graduate of Plainview High School. She and her husband of 50 years, Paul Jean, were married in 1957. The Jeans moved to California during Mr. Jean's service in the Navy. Patsy attended Dental School in Long Beach, CA and then later when the Jeans moved to Oakland, CA, she attended Lee Ann's Beauty School. They moved to Riley Creek in 1962, where she and her husband built a thriving farm. Shortly afterward, she opened her own successful business, Unique Hair Styles. Almost eight years after their marriage in 1965, they had a son, James. Patsy was diagnosed with cancer in 2000. She was a very active member of the Rover Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Jean, her son, James Jean, daughter-in-law Valerie Jean, her mother, Elvy Yates, three brothers, Bill, Joe and Lannie Yates. Her body was cremated and her ashes will be buried during a private service at Earl Ladd Cemetery in Danville.

Ray Jean, age 88, of Yuba City died May 28, 2007, at his residence. Born in Belleville, AR. he was a Yuba-Sutter resident for many years, living in Live Oak and Yuba City. He retired as a rip saw operator at Sunset Moulding in Live Oak after 30 years. He was a member of the Senior Bowling League in Yuba City and Peach Bowl Branch No. 45 of the Sons in Retirement in Yuba City. Also, he attended the Church of the Nazarene in Yuba City.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Lucille Jean of Yuba City; two sons, James E. Jean of Yuba City and David Jean of Sutter; a daughter, Sherry Morrissey of Marysville; two brothers, Raymond Jean of Auburn and Jimmy Jean of Oroville; two sisters, Ruby Albright of Live Oak and Janelle Fleming of Sacramento; six grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Thronberg and Clynell Sickles; and a brother, Odell Jean.

Mrs. Ada Jeffers, age 86, of Route 1, Ola, died Sunday, December 28, 1986 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of John Robert Jeffers, daughter of the late Virgil and Lucinda Morgan Forrester, and was a member of First Baptist Church at Ola.
Survivors include two sons, Buck W. Jeffers of Tucson, Ariz. and Bobby Jeffers of Yazoo City, Miss., a daughter, Susie Irene Bryant of Little Rock; a sister, Ida Conley of Ola; six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a. m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church at Ola by the Rev. Ken Reece, the Rev. Joe Dawson and the Rev. Henry Magee. June Southard Jelinek, age 67, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Washington, DC, Muncie, IN, Brecksville, OH, Lancaster, OH and Plainview, AR, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, August 22, 2004 at her home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church Concord, Farragut, TN and the Faithful Followers Sunday School Class. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She started her career with the FBI in Washington, DC and later worked with a law firm in St. Louis, MO. She became a homemaker after her marriage on March 17, 1956.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Lofland Southard.
Survivors include a devoted husband of 48 years, James Jelinek; three sons, Dr. James Jelinek, Jr. of Great Falls, VA, Stanley Brian Jelinek and Timothy Jon Jelinek both of Westernville, OH; two grandchildren; her father, Willis M. Southard of Gravelly, AR; a sister, Susan Southard Haas of North Little Rock, AR and many cousins.

Hazel Jenkins, age 90, of Delaware, AR died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born February 25, 1912 in Delaware, to Arthur and Mae Reasoner McClure; she was the widow of Francis Jenkins. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the First Baptist Church in Delaware.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Jenkins and a sister, Bertha Garner.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Royce and Lynda Jenkins of Delaware; a granddaughter, Kim Tidwell of Delaware and four great grandchildren.
