Casey Lynn George, age 17, of Dardanelle, AR died Wednesday, May 14, 2003. He was born August 24, 1985 in Russellville, AR. He was a graduate of the 2003 Dardanelle High School, member of the Sand Lizard basketball, golf and track teams.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jimmy George and Keith Benefield.
He is survived by his father, Jess D. George of Dardanelle, AR; mother and step-father, Beth and Larry Naylor of Dardanelle, AR; a brother, Dusty George of Dardanelle; a sister, Brooke George of Dardanelle; his grandmothers, Jewell Boyce of Dardanelle, Polly Rosenbalm of Russellville; four uncles, Jimmy Lee and Steve Allen George both of Dardanelle, Kenneth Ray George of Slidell, LA and Phillip and Lisa Benefield of Camarillo, CA; and aunt Celeste and Kenny Bell of Danville and girlfriend, Kylia Melder of Dardanelle.
Service was held Friday, May 16, 2003 at the Dardanelle Community Center with Rev. Milton Cowling officiating. Interment was in Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle, AR. Chestene Harley George, age 81, of Clarksville, AR, formerly of Danville, AR, died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Countryside Manor Nursing Home. He was born February 11, 1924 at Ola, AR, a son of the late Harvey and Leeottia Mize George. He was a member of Twin Oaks Missionary Baptist Church and was an Air Force Veteran of WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Mary George; two step daughters, Doris Rich of Hagarville, AR and Sheila Poe of No. Little Rock, AR; two sisters, Christene Fisher and Margaret Wylie both of Clarksville, AR; a brother, Harvey Gene George of Alma, AR; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. at the Hardwicke Funeral Chapel in Clarksville, AR with Rev. Troy Vaughn officiating. Burial will be at the Union Hill Cemetery, In-galls, AR at 3:00 p.m. under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday for 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Chester Boyd George, age 83, of Belleville, AR died Friday, May 30, 2003 at the Veterans Hospital in Little Rock, AR. He was born March 3, 1920 in Colgate, OK to the late Nicholas Winton and Cora Mae Robinson George. He was a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Cecil Doyle George and one sister, Golda Hill.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Edna McDonald George; a son, Jerry George of Ft. Worth, TX; two daughters, Betty Bly of Ola, AR and Patsy Freeman of Centerville, AR; one stepson, Clinton Nunn of Boyd, TX; four step daughters, Janie Phaup and Anita Noblett both of Spring Creek, AR, Sue Combs and Debbie Richardson both of Dallas, TX; three sisters, Lavada Harkey of England, Dimple Benefield of Perryville and Lenes Rae Wise of Casa, AR; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.

D. M. Red George, age 74, of Ola, died Thursday, April 13, 1989 at AMI St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. He was a retired trucker and mechanic in the logging industry, a member of the Ola United Methodist Church and Ola Masonic Lodge. He was the son of the late Robert H. George and Eller Stevenson George.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Mae George of Ola; two sons, James H. George of Perryville and Thomas T. George of Benton; two daughters, Sally Hunt of Bigelow and Linda Infield of Russellville; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Billy David George.

Danny A. George 66, of Sherwood was called home unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon on December 21, 2005. He will make heaven a little brighter though our lives will be a little dimmer. Everyone who knew him loved him. Children called him Mr. Danny, His grandchildren called him Papa Danny and Grand Danny, his wife called him precious. He was born in Birta, AR to Rufus and Irma George. He was an abstractor and independent petroleum landman. He took great pride in this work. He leaves behind his wife Betty Carson George; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Kenny Keathley of Little Rock; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Karla George of Bixby, OK; his step children, Greg Dalton of Sherwood, Susan Dalton of Sherwood, Don and Susan Dalton of Springdale, Beth and Kyle Winebrenner of Cabot; other survivors include: His beloved grandchildren, Jeremy Belknap, Kirk and Karson George, Ben Dalton, Aubrey, Amelia, Alex Dalton, Hayley Hunter and Hayden Winebrenner; three sisters, two brothers, and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Edna L. George age 83 of Belleville died Friday, December 24, 2004 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. She was born November 15, 1921 in Magazine to the late Joseph and Fannie Dixon McDonald. She was a homemaker and mother.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Nunn, Jr. and Chester George and a son, Donald Lasiter.
Survivors are her two sons, Clinton Nunn of Boyd, TX and Jerry George of Ft. Worth, TX; six daughters, Harlies "Sue" Combs, Lenora "Janie" Phaup and Anita Noblett all of Belleville, Debbie Richardson of Dallas, TX, Betty Bly of Ola and Patsy Heflin of Dardanelle; a brother, Charles McDonald of Conway; two sisters, Floy Harkey of Pauls Valley, OK and Lillian Bennit of Kansas City, KS; 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Elle George, aged 64 years, wife of the late Robert H. George, passed away at her home near Centerville Thursday, February 19th, 1942. She had been in declining health for some time.

Miss Ellie George, of Dardanelle, died early Saturday morning, November 4th, 1950, in St. Mary's Hospital, Russellville. She was born and reared in Dardanelle, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jess George, a pioneer family of Yell County.
Funeal services were held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock at the Cornwell Funeral Home by Rev. Glenn Crosby, pastor pf the Christian Church of Russellville.
Miss George is survived by one brother, Clarence R. George, of Fort Smith; nieces, Mrs. F. Stickney Meek, of Dardanelle, Miss Nola George, of Little Rock, Mrs. E. S. Elton Lee George, age 86, of Mt. George, AR, died Sunday, January 7, 2001 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was born April 8, 1914 in Mt. George, AR to the late Calvin and Lena Frost George. He was a pipe fitter, an Army Veteran of WWII, a 32nd degree Mason of the Danville Lodge 41, a member of the Boyce Woods VFW Post 3141, Dardanelle and a member of the Mt. George Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by, his wife, Daisy George and a grandson, Dylan George.
Survivors are sons, Johnny, Lanny and Ranny George of Mt. George; daughters, Kathleen Holt, Mt. George, Susie Qualls, Tulsa, OK and June Hethcoat of Rogersville, MO; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A beautiful soul has soared to heaven! Fanny Blanche Compton George, known as Mama Fan or Miss Fanny to most of Yell County, died on September 2, 2012 in her home. She was 99 years old and what a gracious lady! Fanny was born prematurely on May 6, 1913 in Gravelly, AR. She and her sister, Mary Nell were the only 2 of the 6 premature children to live. Her early life was spent in Wing, Arkansas. At the age of 13, she moved to Danville, where she finished high school. She attended Galloway College for one semester, before falling in love over Christmas Break with C.R.(Babe) George. The two were married March 27, 1932. They had a wonderful life together in Danville, where Babe was an attorney and Municipal Judge. They raised two children, who still survive, Janette George Richison and Dr. Lary Compton Sr. and wife, Phyllis VanZandt George. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and their spouses, Debra Richison and Bill Stuckey, Frances Richison and Rev. Bill Eubanks, Dr. George Charles and Ruth Couser Richison, Dr. Lary Compton, Jr. and Carmen George, and JanAnn George and Richard Harmon. Her great-grandchildren are, Anna Stuckey Newby, William Compton Stuckey, Rachel Stuckey Slaton, William Thomas Eubanks, III, Helen Eubanks Bartel, Janette Eubanks, Sarah Richison, Katherine Richison, Emily Richison, Mariah George Ward, Allyson George, and Hannah Harmon. Great-great grandchildren are Reid Richison, Addison, Emma, and Avery Joy Eubanks, Wyatt Newby, Amaelia Stuckey, Clayton Matthew Harmon, and Rylee Jo Young.
Other survivors are her nephew, Bood Keathley, and many beloved great nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was a generous member of her community. She briefly worked as an "Expression" teacher, taught food preservation, and was an Abstractor. She worked to get the vote for the Yell County Hospital and was the sole surviving charter member of the Danville Music Club. She served the American Cancer Society, PTA, B&PW, and the Historical Society. In her church, she taught various Sunday School classes, was involved with the United Methodist Women, and participated in many Lay Witness Missions in several states. Fanny always was a doer; a supporter. She shopped locally first and was a patriot's patriot. For years, she was 'oldest homecomer' at Danville homecomings. In 2006, the Danville Chamber of Commerce named her "Citizen of the Year" to honor her community service. For 26 years, she was Grand Marshall of the Yell County Fair Parade, leading the parade on horseback. Last year, at the age of 98! She led the parade for the last time on a horse named Trinity. She had many accomplishments, but her greatest contributions to society were her loving family and her friendship. She never stopped making friends, and to be her friend or family was to know a fierce loyalty and JOY! She will be welcomed into heaven by a huge cloud of witnesses, among whom are her parents, Buford and Jap Caviness Compton, her husband CR (Babe) George, her dear sister, Mary Nell Compton Keathley Lewis, and her son-in-law, Charles E. Richison.
All of her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and first cousins also preceded her. Fanny lived a full, real life in her big white house by the side of the road with the door that opened to anyone who needed a hand, an ear, a shoulder, a few bucks, or just a good laugh. She never stopped growing in her faith. Never. She loved Nature and Nature's God. She especially loved gardens and birds; our Arkansas mountains and creeks; sunshine and rain. She had a style all her own that usually included sparkles and a hat. Although she could be strict, she was Fun with a capital F, and spunky and sweet right up to the end.
It was wonderful to be loved by her! She cherished her past, did not fear the future, and seized the present with both hands! Faron James George age 37 of Danville died Friday, December 29, 2006 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock. Born July 5, 1969 in Little Rock he was the son of the late James Lester "JL" George. He attended the Birta Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, special school in Ola and lived in the Bonneville Human Development Center.

Birta Boy Killed As Tractor Overturns - Flavel George, age 15, a student in Ola High School, was killed near his home at Birta Saturday when the tractor he was driving overturned and pinned him beneath it. George was pulling logs to help rebuild his grandfather's house which was destroyed by fire last Wednesday. As he crossed a gulley, a log he was pulling caught in the ground and the tractor was pulled over backwards.

Georgia E. George, age 97 of Belleville, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Dardanelle Nursing & Rehab Center. She was born September 26, 1913 in Danville, Arkansas to the late John Henry and Ethel Myrtle Crochran McGuran. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and retired after 26 years as an inspector at Wayne Farms.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard George; infant son, Windell Lynn George; son, Leonard Lee George; three brothers and two sisters.

Grace Dean George, age 93, of Dardanelle died Sunday, September 4 at Dardanelle Nursing and Rehab. She was born December 12, 1917 in Casa to the late Arthur Lee and Maggie Rainey Mahan. She was a retired USDA inspector and a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter "Bill" George, a son, John George, brothers, John, Alvin and James Mahan and sisters, Ruth Fitch and Faye Claxton.

MR. HAWK GEORGE Uncle Hawk George, aged 90 years, last surviving member of a pioneer Yell County family of fourteen, died Monday, February 20th, 1939, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Vera Thomson, at Tyler, Tex.
The remains were returned to his former home in the Mt. George community where the funeral services, conducted by Rev. H. D. Jackson of Havana, were held Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in the Mt. George Cemetery.
Mr. George had been an honored and respected resident of the Mt. George community of many years, during most of which he had been actively and extensively engaged in farming and livestock raising.
He is survived by three daughters and eight sons. Mrs. Vera Thompson, of Tyler, Tex.; Mrs. Elmer Warren, of Dardanelle; Mrs. Thomas V. Sturdivant, of near Dardanelle; Clarence George, of Mt. Hazel Marie George, age 67 of Dardanelle, died Friday, September 19, 2008 at the River Valley Medical Center in Dardanelle. She was born January 26, 1941 in the Ard Community to JD and Lorene Earls Miller.
She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Lloyd Miller.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Garland George; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Paul Foley of Ft. Smith; a son, Joe George of Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs, Colorado; two grandsons; her mother, Lorene Miller of Ard; a brother, Kent Miller of Coleman, South Dakota; two sisters, Margaret Edwards and Leora Thaxton both of Ard; several nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Herman Jack George, age 82 of Ola, left this world to be with the Lord on Friday, April 18, 2003 at his home outside Ola. He was born April 17, 1921 in the Southview Community, Perry County, Arkansas to the late Lilburn Green and Cora Ella Wyatt George. He was a WWII Army veteran, a retired school bus driver for the Ola school district and a former gas station attendant.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Birtie L. George; two brothers, Homer L. George and James Lester George.
Survivors are two brothers, Lloyd S. George of Chinese Camp, California, David R. George of Modesto, California; one sister, Ruby Atwood of Modesto, California; three nephews, Gary George and Darrell George, both of Casa, Jackie George of Benton; a nice, Ella Louise Morrison of Ola and a host of other nephews, nieces and cousins.
Services were Monday, April 21, 2003 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. Interment was in Birta Cemetery with full military honors by Boyce-Woods VFW Post 3141 in Dardanelle. George, Herman Oscar "Jim", died in Carmichael, Calif. March 9, 1978. Husband of Velma R. George of Sacramento. Father of Marilyn L. DeMaio of Sacto. Barbara A. Sexton, of Citrus Heights, Joe W. George of Eureka, and Herman O. George, Jr. of San Francisco. Brother of Nettie Cain of Holdonville, Okla. And David M. George of Ola, Ark.

Ira Marlin George, age 89, of Birta, died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Dardanelle Nursing Center. The son of Aaron Kimzey and Nancy Sullivan George, he was born on April 7, 1921 in Chickalah. Ira grew up in the Depression era, working hard on the family farm with his brothers and sisters. He joined the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and served as a medical corpsman. He and Monnie Boyce McCoy were married on May 15, 1942 at Birta. Ira worked for many years as a track supervisor for the Rock Island Railroad. He and Monnie were very active in their church for many years, where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed building birdhouses, especially for martins. Ira also loved singing and playing the guitar.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Monnie Boyce McCoy George; a son, Flavel Marlin George; brothers, Hayden George, Rufus George, Frank George, and infant brother Aaron George; sisters, Hattie Holbrook, Modean Kimzey, Lyda Rodgers, Verdell Ellison and infant sister Ruth Elizabeth George.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Young & husband John of Birta; a granddaughter Kathy Turner & husband Chad of Birta; two great grandchildren, Ashley and Calee Turner of Birta; a sister, Mary Ann Rodgers of Ola; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral was Saturday, September 4, 2010 at First Baptist Church at Casa with Brother Joe Phillips officiating. Burial was at Birta Cemetery by Humphrey Funeral Service. Irma Maerene George, age 89 of Birta, died Friday, April 22, 2005 at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born July 10, 1915 at Wooster, AR, to the late W. Alexander and Inez Kirkpatrick Williams. She was a lifetime member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Birta.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rufus A. George; brother Joe Williams, sister Lillian Wolford.
Survivors include 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Dale McCoy of Birta, Barbara and Don McCoy of Birta, Becky and Bob Underwood of Dardanelle, 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Dick and Kay George of Anadarko, OK, Danny and Betty George of Sherwood, and James and LaNelle George of Jackson, GA; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild; a host of family and friends.
Funeral services were held April 25, 2005, at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Birta. Interment was held at Birta Cemetery. Dr. J. N. George Died Last Thursday night - Dr. J. N. George, aged 69 years, of Centerville, died shortly before midnight Thursday, November 4th, 1943.
Funeral Services conducted by Reverend Couchman, of Danville, Reverend Patton, of Luxora, and Reverend Holiman, of Ola, were held in the Methodist Church at Centerville Saturday afternoon, friends from all sections of Yell County and from points throughout the State being in attendance. Burial, in charge of the Cornwell Funeral Home, of Dardanelle, was in the Mount George Cemetery.
Dr. George was a native of Yell County, having been born at Alpha on January 3rd, 1875. After finishing his literary education in the schools of the County, he studied medicine and received his M. D. degree from the Medical College in Memphis, Tenn., following which he took a postgraduate course in New York City. Dr. George entered the practice of medicine at Birta, where he continued in the practice of his profession until 1912.
He was extensively interested in farming, livestock and banking, and at the time of his death was one of the largest land-holders in the County. He also took an active interest in politics, being elected County Judge in 1912, which office he filled for two terms. He also served two terms as Sheriff and Collector and two terms as State Senator from this District, then composed of Yell and Logan Counties.

Jack Robertson George, age 36, native of Colgate, Okla. and a resident of Casa, died at his home early Friday afternoon. He was a son of Nick W. and Cora Robertson George, and had lived at Casa most of his life. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors, other than his parents, are two brothers, Cecil Doyle George of Little Rock and Chester Boyd George of Casa; four sisters, Mrs. Lavada Harkey of England, Mrs. Golda Hill, Mrs. Dimple Fink, and Mrs. Lenes Wise of Casa and a number of nieces and nephews. Jacob David George, age 32 passed away September 17th, 2014 at his home in Fayetteville, AR. Jacob was a disabled veteran who had served 3 tours as a U.S. Army Special Operations combat engineer with Operation Enduring Freedom. After serving, he returned home and attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Eventually, his passion led him to become a recording artist, songwriter and public speaker promoting peace and supporting veterans. He also founded 'Operation Awareness,' an organization that sponsored 'A Ride to the End' (ARTTE). This was a group of veterans who pledged to ride bicycles across the country raising awareness until the war ends. Jacob was a recipient of the 2011 Arkansas Peace and Justice Heroes Award for his work with ARTTE.
Jacob was born on April 12th, 1982 and is survived by his mother Robin George Mulac of Greenwood, AR, father Jasper George of Birta, AR, brother Jordan George of Fayetteville, sister and brother-in-law Jasmin and Justin McBride, 2 nieces Jaycee and Joslyn McBride all of Greenwood and grandmother Sara Majors formerly of Danville, AR. Jacob was also eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new niece, Hazel Jaye McBride, due in December. A memorial 'celebration of life' reception will be held on Sunday, October 5th, from 11 am - 3 pm at Teatro Scarpino in Fayetteville. Feel free to just drop by or stay awhile and share with us in stories, photos and songs as we remember his life and who he was. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jacob's name to the Peace at Home Family Shelter for victims of domestic violence or the Omni Center for Peace, both in Fayetteville, would be appreciated.

James A. "Lonnie George, age 60 of Danville died Saturday, January 28, 2006 at his home in Danville. Born August 4, 1945 in Briggsville, he was the son of the late Bill and Oma Keys George. He was a member of the Bluffton Baptist Church and was an employee of Wayne Farms for over thirty years.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Vaughn.

DARDANELLE, Ark. (Special) Funeral service for Jess J. George, 60, Dardanelle, will be held at 2 p. m. Sunday at the Church of Christ in Dardanelle. C. V. Langford, minister will officiate. Burial, under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Service, Dardanelle, will be at Brearley cemetry.
Mr. George died Friday morning at a Russellville hospital. He was a native of Dardanelle. A mechanic, he owned a garage.
