Parker, Parker

Parker Parker, age 72, of Russellville, a retired Army colonel and lawyer, died Saturday. He practiced law at Russellville for 52 years and was a member of the American Arkansas and Pope-Yell Bar Associations. Parker was a candidate for Congress in 1948. He was the former owner of Radio Station KCAB at Dardanelle.

Parker was a veteran of World War II where he served in North Africa and Europe. He was promoted to colonel in 1945 and retired in 1947. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas in 1924 and his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1928. A member of Russellville First United Methodist Church, he was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and the Lions Club. He was a former Mason.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Betty Parker; four daughters, Mrs. Jeff Mobley and Miss Carol Parker, both of Russellville, Mrs. John Russell of La Jolla, CA, and Mrs. Joe Miller of Fort Huachuca, Arizona; a stepson, Capt. Johnny Luker of Russellville; a sister, Mrs. Johnie Walrath of Pheonix, Arizona, and eight grandchildren.

Parker, Parker, Sr.

Parker Wilson Parker Sr., age 72 of Dardanelle died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at his home. He was born July 10, 1938 at Carden Bottoms to the late Monroe McCall and Willie Alma Manes Parker. He was a graduate of Garden Bottoms School where he played basketball, he retired from Tyson Foods where he worked for 39 years. He was an avid gardner and loved to work in his yard. He loved to fish and hunt and most of all loved his grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Henry Allen Parker and a brother, Nub Parker.

He is survived by Muril Reynolds Parker of Dardanelle; one daughter, Connie Sims and husband Ronnie of Dardanelle; one son, Parker Wilson Parker, Jr. of Dardanelle; two brothers, Sam Parker and wife Kay of Dardanelle, John Parker and wife Carolyn of Dardanelle; two sisters, Wonnie Jones and husband Dean of Dover, Betty Hunley of Texas; four grandchildren, R.W. Sims, Chloe Sims, Larrissa Latham and Monroe Parker all of Dardanelle; four great grandchildren, Alexiea Sims, Mollie, Mason and Maylea Latham all of Dardanelle; and his special dog, Tyra.

Parker, Robert J. "Bob"

DANVILLE - Robert J. "Bob" Parker, age 75, of Belleville died Thursday, June 19, 1986 at Mitchell Nursing Home. He was a native of the Stafford community, son of the late Thomas and Hattie White Parker, and a deacon at First Baptist Church. He was a retired game warden with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Beulah Stine Parker; a son, Robert J. Parker Jr. of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Pat Wight of Dardanelle; two brothers, Floyd Parker of Danville and Kenneth Parker of Fort Smith; a sister, Mrs. Ora Walker of Belleville; six grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

Funeral will be at 11 a. m. Saturday at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Bobby Walker and the Rev. Tony Berry. Burial will be in Russell Cemetery at Belleville by Cornwell Funeral Service. Parker, Ruth

Ruth Parker, age 91, a resident of Danville, formerly of Ola, died, Monday, March 8, 1999 at Chambers memorial Hospital in Danville. She was born on October 24, 1907 at Birta, to Thomas and Sarah Elizabeth Harper Robinson. She was a homemaker. She was the widow of the late Lee Parker and preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, 3 sisters. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star Chapter 386. She was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church holding the Office of Treasurer for many years.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Elizabeth Parker of Little Rock; grandson and wife, Doug and Shannon Parker of Russellville; 2 step grandchildren, Terry and Steven Goodson of Little Rock; 5 step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sue Eloice Parker, age 79, of Havana passed away Friday, September 22, 2017, at her home. She was born September 10, 1938, in Shawnee, Pottawatomie [County], Oklahoma to the late Huie Everett & Billie Lucille Roberts Cargle. She was a homemaker, mother and proud member of the Choctaw tribe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Huie Cargle and Joseph Charles & Billie Lucille Kiefer; son, Vern Dean Adair.

Survivors include her husband, William Revoe Parker Sr; children, Paula S. Mrs. Syble Clark Parker, age 79, of South Gate, CA died Thursday, March 5, 1998 at St. Francis Medical Center, Lynwood, CA. She was born in Havana, AR, March 22, 1918, daughter of the late Luther and Grace Clark. She was the widow of Floyd Galen Parker.

Thomas Jefferson Parker, 85, of Belleville died at the Yell County Hospital Saturday. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Free Will Baptist Church and an honorary member of the Christian Lodge No. 394 of Belleville.

He is survived by five sons, Cicero of California, Robert, Roy, Floyd and Eugene, all of Belleville; one brother, Johnny Parker of Oklahoma City; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Langston of Belleville; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Virginia Corine Parker, age 88, of Kingwood, Texas, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at Rosemont Nursing Home in Kingwood, Texas. She was born September 24, 1923 in Centerville, Arkansas to the late Edgar and Sally Daniels Benefield. She was a member of the Birta Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elvin (Red) Parker.

Warren G. "Bill" Parker, age 65, of Delaware died Tuesday, December 30, 1986 at Veterans Hospital at Little Rock. He was a retired farmer, veteran of World War II and son of the late John D. Parker.

Mr. William Eugene Parker, age; 81, of New Blaine, AR, died Saturday, October 25, 1997 at his home He was a member of the New Blaine Church of Christ, a retired woodsman. He was born March 2 1916 at Shoal Creek to the late William B. H. and Myrtle Jones Parker.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Thayer and a daughter Linda K. Parker Garrison.

Parks, Amy (Rhoades)

, a retired teacher with the Rockwall Independent School District, died Thursday in Dallas. Services for Ms. Parks, 91, were Saturday. Amy Parks-Heath Elementary School in Heath, outside of Rockwall, was named for Ms. Parks in 1995. Ms. Parks was born March 13, 1910, near Gradley, Ark. Her family moved to Rockwall when she was 4 years old. After high school, she received a bachelor of science degree in 1933 from North Texas State University, now the University of North Texas. She received her master's degree from East Texas State University. Ms. Parks taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Rockwall in the early 1930s. She moved to Arkansas with her husband, Ray Parks, but returned to the Dallas area in 1941. She taught in Grand Prairie before moving back to Rockwall, where she taught first grade from 1943 to 1976 at Rockwall Elementary School. The city named Parks Avenue in her honor in 1990. At the dedication of the elementary school, Ms. Parks said, "My philosophy is based on loving my students as though they were my own and helping develop a love for learning," Betty McCulley quoted her mother as saying. While living in a retirement community, Ms. Parks encouraged a young mother who worked there to continue her education. That young mother is currently studying to become a teacher, Ms. McCulley said. "She instilled in you a strength to do the very best that you could," Ms. McCulley said. Ms. Parks was a member of the Eastern Star, the Retired Teachers Association and First United Methodist Church of Rockwall.

She was preceded in death by her husband. In addition to Ms. McCulley of Wichita Falls, Ms.

Bennie Robert Parks, age 89 of Dardanelle, died Thursday, June 12, 2003 at the Veterans Hospital in Little Rock. He was born August 17, 1913 in Wild Cat Hollow, Arkansas to the late Tom and Anna Thompson Parks. He was a WWII disable Army Veteran and a member of the St. John's Missionary Baptist Church in Dardanelle.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Louise Parks and Rebecca Parks; three sisters, Vilina May, Maggie Whitman, Mary Thompson and a brother, Roy Parks.

Survivors are his wife, Maggie Franklin Parks; 13 stepchildren, Diane Tucker, Dashon Tucker and Cameron Tucker, all of Brinkley, Yvonne Chaten and Earl Tucker, both of Little Rock, Anna Fowler of Russellville, Lenora Triggs, Ronda Chaten, Clem Tucker, Timothy Tucker, Amanda Tucker and Tonia Tucker, all of Dardanelle, Linda Woods of Jonesboro; three sisters, Amy Garnichaud, Mamie Washington and Lucille Cleveland, all of Los Angles, California and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Services were Monday, June 16, 2003 at St. John's Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Casper Pinkney officiating. Interment was in Nebo Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle. Pallbearers were John Freeman, Timothy Tucker, Sr., Clem Tucker, Dashon Tucker, Waymon Woods, Sr., Bobby Chaten, and Cory Thompson. Parks, Laura Evaline

Laura Evaline Parks, age 89, of Tonganoxie, KS, widow of Earl Parks died Sunday, January 2, 2000 at Tonganoxie Nursing Center. She was born August 18, 1910 in Chickalah, AR to the late Berry and Inez "Cecil" Scott. She moved to Kansas City, KS in 1954 and to Tonganoxie, KS in 1987. She was a member of the Sunset Hills Christian Church, Kansas City, KS but attended Tonganoxie Christian Church the last 12 years. She was united in marriage June 29, 1929 in Dardanelle, AR to the late Earl Parks. She will be remembered for the care of her family, her loving spirit and hard work and her dedication to gardening and quilting.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil and Jack Scott and her son-in-law, Glenn C. Martin.

Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Martin of Tonganoxie, KS, Sharon Dodge of Lynwood, KS and Reatha Smith of Attica, KS; two sisters, Lula Miller of Dardanelle, AR and Veronia Rutledge of Branch, AR; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Service was January 4, 2000 at the Quisenberry Chapel, Tonganoxie, KS with the Rev. Ben SaathorT officiating. Services by Quinsenberry Funeral Home. Parks, Leon

Leon Parks, age 77, of Ola, AR, died Sunday, February 3, 2008 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, AR. The son of Sidney and Noma Pearl McDaniel Parks, he was born October 16, 1930 in Casa, AR. He married Dorothy Mott, on April 28, 1956 at the Plain-view Baptist Church. He was a United States Veteran of the Korean War and retired after working many years as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Forsgren Brothers, Inc. He was a Member of the First Baptist Church of Plainview.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy Parks of Ola; one son, Larry Parks of Ola, one daughter, Donna Sutterfield of Little Rock; one granddaughter; three sisters, Margie & James Mott of Ola, Carol & Lavell King of Little Rock, Judy Kemp of Little Rock; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral will be at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, February 7, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Plainview Rev. Charlie Bird & Rev. Mike Ault will officiate. Mrs. Lorena Elmo Parks, age 75 of Rockwall, Tex. died at Rockwall January 14. She was the daughter of the late Dr. H.L. and Lucy Elizabeth Herring Montgomery, the widow of John Thomas Parks, a native of Yell County and a Methodist.

Survivors include two sons, Ray Parks of Rockwall and Joyce Parks of Amarillo, Tex.; one sister, Mrs. Ola Montgomery Garner of Plainview; one granddaughter and one great grandson.

Mary Parks, 68, of Dardanelle, died Saturday, November 27, 2004, at her home. A daughter of the late William and Cora Story Tackett, she was born August 9, 1936, near Russellville. She was a retired nurses' aide, was a member of the Eastern Star, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies' Auxiliary and the Faith Church of Dardanelle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Parks; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dwaine and Kim Millsaps of New Blaine and Charles Edward Parks Jr. and Janet Parks of Dardanelle; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Sammy Morden of Cabot; a step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Clyde Randall and Faye Parks of Dardanelle; two brothers, Billy Wayne Tackett of Hector, and Ronald L. Tackett of Russellville; three sisters, Corrine Dare of Russellville, Ethel Pope of Fort Smith, and Wanda Blaylock of Eureka, Calif.; six grandchildren, Dustin Choate of Cabot, Kacey Johnson of Russellville, Chris, Ryan and Brooke Millsaps, all of New Blaine, and Michael Parks of Dardanelle; and two great-grandsons, Joshua Choate of Russellville, and Ryett Choate of Cabot.

Robert Amos Parks, age 73, of Dover died Saturday, November 19, 2005. He was born March 28, 1932 in Casa, Arkansas to Robert Lester and Ollie Luttrell Parks. He was a Korean Army Veteran, switchman with B & O at Chicago for 12 years, and a tool maker for AT&T for 18 years.

Survivors are his daughters, Sharon McClaine of Shreveport, LA; sisters, Theresa Alexander of Pottsville, Sally Holmes of Casa; grandchildren, Stormy and Shane McClaine; a special nephew, Ted Alexander and a host of nephews and nieces.

Parrish, Melvin "Sonny"

Melvin (Sonny) Parrish, age 79, of Dardanelle went to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 24 at St. Mary's Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was born on December 4, 1931 in Brownfield, TX to the late Solomon and Annie Baugh Parrish. He was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a life-time member of the Boyce Wood VFW He was a Mason and a Shriner. He retired from the Rock Island and Missouri Pacific Railroads after 23 years of service. Following his railroad retirement, he was a yard foreman for Arkansas Kraft. He later became a real estate broker and owned and operated Parrish Real Estate in Danville until a stroke left him unable to work.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Seth Parrish; sister, Nora Oden and brother, Otto Parrish and several nieces and nephews.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Tate Parrish; his son, Mike Parrish and wife, Delba of Flippin and daughter, Debbie Murphy and husband. Bob of Dardanelle; his grandchildren, Bobby Murphy of Fayetteville, Bekah Murphy Cox and husband, Justin of Fayetteville and Ashley Parrish of Smackover; sisters, Ruth West and husband, Jim of North Little Rock and Jean Stafford and hus- band, Archie of Fort Smith and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was August 26, 2011 at Danville's Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Earl Stapleton and Rev. Mickey Shields officiating. Burial was at Rest Haven in Russellville.
