Oglesbee, E. L. Doc

E. L. Doc Oglesbee, age 80 of Gravelly, died Thursday, June 21, 1990 at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. He was a native of Gravelly, son of the late Uriah and Effie Blaylock Oglesbee, a member and a deacon of the Mulberry Free Will Baptist Church, a Mason and a member of the William J. Parks 376 Masonic Lodge. He married Hester May Copeland October, 12, 1929. He was a retired employee of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Hester May Copeland Oglesbee; a son, Bob Roy Oglesbee of Little Rock; two daughters, Mrs. Glenna Jean Goodson of Oklahoma City, OK and Mrs. Kathy Dell Minnie of Gravelly; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were, Saturday at the Mulberry Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Pat Millard and Rev. George Latham officiating, Burial was in Parks Cemetery near Gravelly. Services were by Cornwell Funeral Service of Danville. Graveside Masonic services were held. Pallbearers were Joe Pickens, Jim Roberson, Twain Willis, Lloyd Millwood, Odis Hunt and Jerry McCafferty. Oglesbee, Hester May

Hester May Oglesbee, age 89, of Gravelly, AR passed away Tuesday, November 5, 1996 at Stella Manor Nursing Home in Russellville. She was born in Sims, AR January 21, 1907, daughter of the late Johnny J. and Mary Ann Elizabeth Brewer Copeland. She was a mother and homemaker, charter member of the Mulberry Free Will Baptist Church at Gravelly and a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 580.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E. L. "Doc" Oglesbee and a son, Bob Roy Oglesbee.

Survivors include: two daughters, Glenna Goodson of Oklahoma City, OK and Kathy Minnie of Gravelly, AR; a daughter-in-law, Maxine Oglesbee of Gravelly, AR; one brother, Jeff" Copeland of Washington State; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held November 8, 1996 at the Mulberry Free Will Baptist Church at Gravelly with Rev. Pat Millard and Rev. Lavan Robinson officiating. Burial was in Park Cemetery in Scott County. Oglesby, George Washington

Mr. George Washington Oglesby, age 89, of Atkins died Wednesday, December 18, 1974, at a Russellville Nursing home. Born in Scottsville, Mr. Oglesby was a son of the late George and Laura Hale Oglesby. He was a retired farmer and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Myrtie Green Oglesby; 4 daughters, Mrs. Otto Moss and Mrs. Charlestine Ryals both of Atkins, Mrs. Nell Chambers of Pasadena, Texas, and Mrs. Loyd Millwood of Plainview; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, at the New Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Thorpe Lee officiating. Interment followed in New Bethel Cemetery. Oglesby, Nicholas Jackson

Nicholas Jackson Oglesby, 88, of Dardanelle died January 12 in a Danville hospital. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Arah McCarty Oglesby; four daughters, Mrs. Lola Domerese of Havana, Mrs. Vira Chappel of California, Mrs. Lavoy Petillo of Dardanelle and Mrs. Jackie Cox of Alma; one brother, George Oglesby of Atkins; nine grandchildren and three great-grand children.

Olinghouse, Burney (Buddy) Harold

Burney (Buddy) Harold Olinghouse, 59, of Fayetteville, passed away July 10, 2007 at Washington Regional Medical Center. He was born April 30, 1948 in Little Rock, the son of Burney Olinghouse and Georgia Follendore Olinghouse. Graduated from Little Rock Central High School and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Following college he was on the Collegiate Staff of University Baptist Church. He later worked for Arkansas Best Freight. He had a love for gardening and the outdoors and turned that love into a successful landscaping business, "Landscapes and Lawns" He was a member of University Baptist Church of Fayetteville.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Follendore of Belleville, and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Olinghouse of Lonoke, and his father.

Survivors include his mother, Georgia Olinghouse and his sister, Sharon Thomas and her husband, Dennis of Little Rock, and his niece, Angela Harris of Little Rock and many loving friends and relatives.

Home-Going Services was held Friday, July 13, 2007 at University Baptist Church in Fayetteville with Dr. H. D. McCarty and Rev. Randy Gardner officiating. Olinghouse, Georgia (Follendore)

Georgia Olinghouse, 92 of Little Rock, AR died Monday, December 16, 2013. She was born November 16, 1921 in Belleville, AR the daughter of E.G. Follendore and Mary Ellen White Follendore. She graduated from Belleville High School and the Arkansas School of Nursing. She was a member of Upper Spring Baptist Church in Belleville, AR.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Burney H. Oling- house and a son. Buddy H. Olinghouse.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon K. Thomas, and a grand daughter, Angela L. Harris.

Olive, Verna

Verna Olive, age 98, of Dardanelle, AR died Wednesday November 5, 2003 at Dardanelle Hospital in Dardanelle, AR. She was the daughter of Jim and Martha Stout Tippit, born December 15, 1904 in Yell County, AR. She was a homemaker and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Dardanelle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; two sisters and two husbands.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Oliver, Betty Catherine (Ferguson)

Betty Ferguson Oliver of North Little Rock, 79, passed peacefully to her heavenly home on April 9, 2016. A native of Bluffton, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Lester Bland Ferguson and Dora Charlotte Carpenter Ferguson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin brother Billy Ferguson, her sister Mary Ferguson Carroll, her brother S.A. Ferguson, and her nephew Kerry Ferguson.

She is survived by Robert (Bob) Oliver, her husband of almost 53 years; her nieces and nephews: Mary Catherine Evans (Stan) of Little Rock, Dr. Kimberly Garner of Maumelle, Greg Ferguson of Pine Bluff, Kevin Ferguson of Danville, and Karen Bruton (Ronald) of Mountain Home; and by grandnieces and grandnephews: Stacey Alonso-Marin, Kelley Garner, Stephaney Wallace, Eric Bruton, Sarah Bruton, Taylor Melton, Adam Bruton, Rachel Bruton, Kole Ferguson, Kerra Ferguson, Kannon Ferguson, and several extended family members. Having served for more than 57 years, she was the longest tenured employee in the entire University of Arkansas system. She served as president of the Arkansas Association of the Home Demonstration Agents and was the vice president of the national association. Her housing work in Lonoke Country earned her national recognition. She has been honored with the Arkansas Home Economic Outstanding Educator Award, the Sister Pierre Vorster Award for Outstanding Volunteer, and as a 2004 inductee into the Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame. Betty served as staff chair for the University of Arkansas Co-operative Extension's Pulaski County program from 1969- 2001. After her twin's death, she and Bob established a Robert and Betty Oliver Twins' Scholarship at Ouachita Baptist University where she currently and previously has served on the Board of Trustees. A graduate of Fourche Valley High School, she found her life- long passion for home economics while securing her undergraduate degree at Ouachita. She went on to earn her master's degree through the University of Arkansas. In the fall of 2015, Betty was the honoree at Stepping Up for Ouachita, an annual event which has raised more than $350,000 in scholarships for women since its inception. Assisting young people in obtaining education has been of paramount importance for Betty. She was honored to help young people reach their goals, especially through a faith-based college education. A service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, April 12, at 10 a.m. at Little Rock's First Baptist Church.

A graveside service will follow that afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the BIuffton Cemetery in Bluffton. Oliver, Dovie

Dovie Oliver, 91, of Dardanelle, formerly a resident of Wildflower Retirement Residence in Russellville, died Saturday, November 26, 2005 at Russellville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born November 22, 1914 in the Pleasant Home Community to Murd and Mamie Womack Riddle. She married A.T. Oliver on July 8, 1933 at Murfreesboro. He ministered at numerous Church of Christ Churches including Danville from 1979 to 1990. She was currently a member of the West Side Church of Christ in Russellville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband a son, T.L. Oliver; a daughter, Patsy Leavell and a sister, Naomi Erickson.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Suzanne Oliver of Tyler, TX, Bill and Renda Oliver of Springfield, MO, Mike and Linda Oliver of Russellville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Alvis Eastwood of DeQueen and Margaret and Thomas Derryberry of Hazen; 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a great-great grandson.

Graveside service was Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at Pleasant Home Cemetery near Murfreesboro by Humphrey Funeral Service. Oliver, Robert Denton

Robert Denton Oliver, 81, of North Little Rock passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016. He was born October 7, 1934 in Scott County, Arkansas to Henry and Anna Eliza Denton Oliver. He played football and was a graduate of Waldron High School; was in the Army Reserves, and a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a Master's in Business. Robert retired from IBM and was a member of First Baptist Church in Little Rock and sang in the choir.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Mary Catherine Evans (Stan) of Little Rock, Dr. Kimberly Garner of Maumelle, Greg Ferguson of Pine Bluff, Kevin Ferguson of Danville, and Karen Bruton (Ronald) of Mountain Home; and by grandnieces and grandnepnews: Stacey Alonso-Marin, Kelley Garner, Stephaney Wallace, Eric Bruton, Sarah Bruton, Taylor Melton, Adam Bruton, Rachel Bruton, Kole Ferguson, Kerra Ferguson, Kannon Ferguson, and several extended family members.

Oliver, Winnie D. (Mott)

HOOKER, OK -- WINNIE D. OLIVER, 77, long time Hooker resident, died at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City, Tuesday, August 13, 1991, following a lengthy illness. She was born to Mac and Deliaha Mott August 26, 1913 in Yell County, AR. She married Lloyd E. Oliver September 18, 1933 at Ft. Smith, AR. They moved to Hooker in 1948 and made it their home since. She was a housewife/homemaker and was a cook for the Hooker Public Schools for a number of years. She was a member of the Hooker First Baptist Church and Baptist Women's Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Lloyd of the home; a son, Loyd Lee of Oklahoma City: a daughter, Mrs. Glen (Peggy) Collins of Pawnee, OK.: 9 grandchildren, Karen Rich, Terry Oliver, Linda Randall, Debbie Turner, James Oliver, Barbara Martin, Doug Pauls, Brenda Wheeler, and Steve Collins; 12 great grandchildren and 1 sister.

Olson, Betty Ann

Betty Ann Olson, 73, of Russellville, AR died Thursday, October 21, 2004, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born May 25, 1931, at Clearwater, NE to Lloyd and Iva Delle Dean Patras. She retired in 1998 from Dardanelle Elementary School where she taught for several years. She was a member of the Dardanelle Garden Club and the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons, John Michael Olson and an infant son; a sister, Wanda Menke; and her father-in-law, the Rev. Milford Olson.

Survivors include her husband, Stanley Olson of Russellville; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas L. and Jana Olson and Roger L. Olson all of Russellville; 3 brothers, Ralph and Bill Patras both of Plainview, NE and Robert Patras of Plasentia, CA; a sister, Loydell Swan of Plainview, NE; a grandson, John Michael Olson of Russellville; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral was Monday, October 25, 2004, at First Free Will Baptist Church at Russellville, officiated by the Rev. Kevin Riggs. Olson, Carroll Daniel "Doc" (Dr.), DMV

"Doc" Carroll D. Olson passed away March 3, 2015, at the age of 83. Carroll was born April 8, 1931 at the family farm in Edmond, Oklahoma, to Arthur W. and Lena (Vessadini) Olson. Shortly after graduating from Arcadia High School, Carroll joined the National Guard, 45th Division. His unit was mobilized in 1950, serving in Korea and Japan. After his military discharge, he began veterinary school at Oklahoma A&M (now OSU). He received his doctorate of veterinary medicine degree in 1957. After a short practice in Tulsa, he began working in poultry inspection, first in Minnesota, then in Danville, Arkansas. Dr. Olson began working for Joe Ray Poultry in 1961, the first on-site veterinarian with a poultry company. After a short time as a state veterinarian at Oaklawn Race track, he returned to poultry inspection and the Danville area. He retired in 1992, with over 30 years serving the USDA. He was active in area Jaycee, Lions Club, and Ruritan. Dr. Olson was instrumental in providing the softball complex for area youth. He was very proud of the young baseball players and often sponsored teams. He spoke often of the championship team of 1989. Retirement brought many new opportunities, often using his trademark "Azygous" in the name. Dr. Olson grew hydroponic tomatoes, row crops, poultry, and cattle. He was president of the Catfish Farmers of Arkansas. He built a new home using residential steel components. He began a travel agency, which he thoroughly enjoyed, becoming an expert on the tourist venues of Australia, which he visited numerous times. Even as arthritis began to curtail his activities, he maintained his large gardens and fish pond. Dr.

Olson was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dr. Arthur L. Olson, sister Dr. Anita C. Olson, and one niece Janet Marie Dennis.

Carroll is survived by older sister Mary M. Bloomer, and younger sister Donna C. Suenram and husband Charles, all of Edmond, Oklahoma. Nieces Christina Kiser (Dean), Joy Self (Jack), and Cindy Roof (Dewey) and one nephew Chris Suenram (Cindy) also survive him. The family is appreciative of the many friends who provided assistance, care, and friendship to Carroll during his last illness.

A memorial service for Dr. Olson was held at the Cornwell Funeral Chapel in Danville on Monday, March 9 at 10:00. Burial was at 100F Cemetery of Arcadia, Oklahoma. Visitation was 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at Cornwell Funeral Home. Greg Olson, age 42 of Danville, died March 15, 2004 at his home. He was born November 4, 1961, to Raymond Olson of Pry or, OK and Winona Faye Phillips of New Blaine, AR. He was an employee of Chamberlyne Golf Course.

He is preceded in death by one brother, James Michael Olson of Aurora, Nebraska; grandparents, Ashley and Opal Phillips of Harkeys Valley.

Survivors include two daughters, Ashley Nicole and Traci Dawn Olson of the home; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Jackie and Sheila Olson of Dardanelle, Calvin and Dianne Olson of Caddo Mills, TX, Larry and Chris Olson of Germany, Jeff Olson of Irving, TX, and Walter Olson of Pryor, OK; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Brenda Miller of Dardanelle and Teresa and Lonnie Dickens of Centerville; several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

Services were Friday, at Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel, Dardanelle, with Rev. Charlie Bird officiating. Burial was in the old Methodist Cemetery at Chickalah. Pallbearers were Mark Maughn, Heath Tate, Able Montiel, Larry Klober, Randy Klober and Jerry Lynn Carter. Honorary pallbearers were co-workers and associates of Chamberlyne Golf Course. She attended the Robinson Point First Assembly of God Church, loved to visit and helped all who came to her with their problems. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Oneal, John Melton

John Melton Oneal, 89, of Tecumseh, Okla. died Thursday, August 2, in a Shawnee, Oklahoma hospital following a three month illness. Mr. Oneal, a retired farmer, was born November 18, 1872, in Yell County. He moved to Tecumseh in 1892 from Havana. In 1911 he moved to Cromwell, Okla. then moved back to Tecumseh in 1924.

Oppenheim, Nora White

Nora White Oppenheim, age 94 of Russellville, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born on May 8, 1908, in Silex. She was the daughter of Dr. William and Isabelle Fisher.

She was preceded in death by three husbands, Bunk Pierce, Evan White and David Oppenheim; a son, Onus White; and four daughters, Murl McBroom, Juanita Rich, Sammie Jean Cone and Vivan Vanosdoll; two brothers, Lewis Fisher and William Fisher. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include three daughters, Ramona Chase of Sacramento, Calif., Mary Henderson of Plainview and Delphia Martin of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sons, Evan White of Pasadena, Texas, and J. D. White of Dardanelle; 35 grandchildren; and over 100 great and great-great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral service and burial was Saturday at the Pisgah Cemetery in Pottsville, with the Rev. Joe Yates officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons. Jewel E. Opseth, age 87 of Dardanelle, died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Dardanelle Nursing Home. She was born December 8, 1920 at Fort Worth, TX to the late W. C. and Estelle Penn Gentry.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 66 years, Reuben B. Opseth; half brothers, Albert, Charles and Kenneth Stogdell; and half sister, Margaret Fitzpatrick.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Wilma Opseth of Fairfield Bay; daughter and son-in-law, LaDonna and Edward Hesselscherdt of Midland, TX; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.

Graveside services were held Monday, February 4, 2008 at Brearley Cemetery, Dardanelle with Bruce Flanders officiating. She was the widow of Fred Ornsbey and was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Eugene Ornsbey and a daughter, Eva Mae Dickens.

DARDANELLE - Lucia Rozie Orr, 84, of Dardanelle died Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home. She was born August 11, 1930, at Omaha, Neb., to the late Elenterio and Maria Martinez Ochoa. She was a one of Jehovah's Witnesses and she attended the Kingdom Hall in Dardanelle. Her foremost love was telling people about Jehovah and his future promises for mankind. She also loved crocheting, sewing and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Lester Allen Orr; one daughter, Victoria June Orr; two granddaughters, Rebecka Dawn Orr and Ashley Marie Orr; one son-in-law, James Ray Moore; three brothers, Tim Ochoa, Massey Ochoa and Robert Anthony; and one sister, Elvira Ypina.

Survivors include eight children, Terry Lee Orr and wife Denise of Iowa, Glenn Leroy Orr and Michele Otte of Iowa, Lisa Lorea Jacome and husband Saul of Texas, June Marie Bewley and husband John of Dardanelle, James Arnold Orr and wife Nancy of Ratcliff, Rose Lucia Moore of Dardanelle, Robert Allen Orr of Florida and Darrell Dean Orr of Paris; one brother, Vern Armstrong of Arizona; three sisters, Mary Goben of Nebraska, Marcella Sargent of Nebraska and Lorena Augilar of Arizona; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.
