Hogan, John D.

Two men were killed in a fiery collision between a truck and pickup about two miles east of Danville on Highway 10 last Thursday afternoon. The men were identified as John D. Hogan, 35 of Ola and Andrew Alexander, 35, of near Little Rock. The two trucks were ablaze partly on the north shoulder of the road, when the Danville Fire Dept. arrived. It was nearly two hours before the vehicles could be cooled down enough to remove both bodies. State Trooper Richard Powell said the pickup, which was loaded with sacked feed, was heading west and had left the Rocking Chair Ranch near Ola, where Hogan was employed, a few minutes before the accident. The truck, which belonged to White Bag Co. of Jacksonville, was heading east and was loaded with empty burlap bags. Feed pellets and burlap bags were scattered over the entire area by the force of the collision and the front end of the trucks were practically welded together. There were apparently no witnesses to the accident. Officers and the fire department were called by a passing motorist who said he was about a half-mile away when the accident occurred. John Hogan was a farmer and a member of the Rover Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Juanita Barnes Hogan; one son, Ricky Lynn Hogan; one daughter, Diana Kay Hogan, both of the home; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Hogan of Rover.

Funeral services were Sunday at the Rover Baptist Church by Rev. Claude Miles. Burial was in the Rover Cemetery. (WWW.YellCountyObits.org,Yell County Record Newspaper, Danville, Arkansas, Obituary was published on Feb 1966)
