Jane Strahan Davis, age 96 of Danville, died Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Mitchell's Nursing Home. She was born September 8, 1921, in Poughkeepsie, New York to the late James L. and Julia Gleason Strahan. While a student at Cornell University she undertook part-time work which led to her career as a scientific and technical illustrator. Over the course of that career, her illustrations spanned a wide variety from microscopic fossils to ocean-going mining equipment and from anatomy of animals and plants to highway construction. After retiring she enjoyed painting landscapes, portraits, and other decorative art. Jane enjoyed outdoor activities, such as gardening and bird-watching. She was her husband's favorite fishing and hunting companion. She bonded with pets, sharing her life with dogs and cats and often adopting orphaned birds, squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, coyotes, and others. By moving several times she made many friends and adapted to differing local customs. In one of those relocations she designed a spacious log house, which she and her husband then built. After meeting in Kansas, they lived in Minnesota, Michigan, Virginia, South Carolina, and the Middle Eastern country of Oman before retiring to Arkansas in 1992.

Survivors are her husband of 58 years, Jackson Davis; two nieces, Patricia Rekittke of Arizona and Nancy Rabolt of California, and a nephew, Donald Kuchler of Florida.
