Later she worked as a cashier for the Danville State Bank (now Chambers Bank). She became a part of the community promoting activities to help the school and the town and was a charter member of the Danville Business and Professional Women's Club. She served as Chairman of the Yell County Homecoming Queens contest for 20 years. When the United States entered WW II John Ed served as an officer in the navy. Pat went back to the University of Arkansas taking their baby daughter with her. She graduated from University of Arkansas, as had her husband. Her three daughters and son also graduated from the University of Arkansas. After the war they were back in Danville working to improve the bank and their town. Among the many projects they supported was the building of the Yell County Library located near the Chambers Bank in Danville. Pat served on E. Sloan Farms Inc. and B&G Farms Inc. Board of Directors in Jonesboro for over 40 years. She was on the Chambers Bancshares Board of Directors from 1986 until present. Pat was an active member of the Danville United Methodist Church. She was an early organizer of the local duplicate bridge club and an avid and expert bridge player. When the home of C. While Pat was not one to be up front making speeches, she was always there to provide strong support for her children and grandchildren from making beautiful clothes, costumes and to being there for the ballgames. At 82 years old it was nothing for her to drive to Fayetteville to attend dance recitals or to Dallas for speeches, and ball games. She attended all high school graduations and university graduations that included Stanford, Georgetown, Vanderbilt, and the University of Arkansas. She never missed anything in which her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren participated.
