Mrs. Josephine Cathey, wife of S. C. Cathey, died at her home at Rover Sunday night. She became ill Wednesday with erysipelas in a very bad form. Drs. Linzy and Ballenger of this place were both summonsed and they exhausted their medical skill in trying to gain control of the disease but all to no avail. She continued to grow worse until about midnight Sunday when she expired.
The enterment took place Monday evening at the Hunts Chapple cemetery, where a large crown gathered to pay the last tribute of respect to one of the noblest women of Yell County. Rev. J. W. Richardson, in a very solemn and impressive manner, conducted the funeral services.
Mrs. Cathey was a sister of our fellow townsman, V. B. Burruss, and was regarded as one of the best women in the country. She was born and reared, and spent the entire 40 years of her life on the same farm where she died. She was the mother of 9 children, two boys and 7 girls, one of whom has preceeded her to the world of untired realities. She never took any great part in society of convntional life, prefering to live a simple home life, with her children, implanting in their minds and hearts the principals of true manhood and womanhood.
As a companion, there is none that excell her. She was the very essence of pure womanhood, loving, tender, kind, always sacrificing that those whom she loved might have the pleasures that they desired. As a mother she was loving, tender, kind, forbearing, attentive and long-suffering. Her children s wants were always supplied if it was in her power to supply them. As a neighbor she was loyal, friendly and accomodating. She never turned away a friend who called upon her for help if it was in ber power to help that neighbor.
She is survived by four brothers, J. E. and M. W. Burruss of Rover, Giles Burruss of California and V. B. Burruss of this place. These, together with numerous friends and relatives, are mourning her loss. We join the sorrowing ones in sympathy and wish that many years may elaps before they have a like experience.
