Lorrie Ann Cannon, age 36 of Plainview, died Sunday, November 30, 2003 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. She was born in Danville on April 16, 1967. She was a mother and homemaker and a member of the Jesus Name Pentecostal Church in Plainview. She was a 1985 graduate of Danville High School.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Judge and Bea Solley and grandfather, Jim Prince.
Survivors include her parents, Bob and Charlotte May Solley of Plainview; two sons, Dustin Shane and Anthony Clay Cannon of Belleville; a sister, Regina Maughn of Fort Smith; three brothers, and sisters-in-law, Terry Lynn and Michelle Solley, Bobby and Keri Solley of Danville, Jimmy Solley of Rover; her grandmother, Carrie Prince of Plainview; a very special friend, Gary Levels of Dardanelle; three nieces, five nephews, great niece and nephew.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at 2:00 p. m. at the Jesus Name Pentecostal Church in Plainview, with Reverend Stacy Lisenby and Reverend W. A. Gorman officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnathan Metcalf, James Metcalf, Nathan Gibbs, Mark Defoor, Josh Emery, and Ronnie DePriest. Mr. David C. Cannon, a native of Tennessee and a resident of the Porterville, Calif., district for the past six years, died December 28 at his home at the age of 73.
Funeral services were held December 30 at the Loyd-Frietzsche Chapel with Rev. R. R. Pulliam, pastor of the First Baptist church of Porterville officiating. Interment will be in Woodville cemetery. Mr.
Cannon is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jennie Cannon, and the following children: Henry E. Cannon and Mrs. Ravna Voss, Porterville, Marvin Cannon, Charleston, Ark., Leonard Cannon, Centerville, Ark. and Mrs. Floyd Davis, Sunnyvale, Calif. Robert L. "Bob" Cannon, 70, of Rogers died Monday, April 8 at St. Mary Rogers Memorial Hospital. He was born January 29, 1921 at Dardanelle. He was the son of the late Ernest R. and Janie Scoles Cannon.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Cannon of the home; three sons, Robert Larry Cannon of Dallas, Texas, Michael Roy Cannon of Houston, Texas, and David Lee Cannon of Fayetteville; one daughter, Mrs. Debra Fritsche of El Dorado; two brothers, Earl Cannon of Little Rock, Walton W. Cannon of Morgantown, West Virginia; one sister, Mrs. Jewel Waid of Kansas City, Missouri; four grandsons, and two granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Adrian "Jack" Cannon; and one sister, Mrs. Louise Cooksey.
Funeral service was Thursday, April 11 at Central United Methodist Church with Dr. Ben G. Hines and Rev. Stephen C. Brizzi officiating. Interment was at Rogers Cemetery. Haskell Cantrell, age 76, of Benton died Wednesday, October 12, 2005. He was born March 3, 1929, in Gravely to James Dennis Cantrell and Essie Jones Cantrell. Mr. Cantrell was a member of the First Baptist Church in Delaware. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose M. Cantrell; and one great-grandson, Joshua Neal Britton.
Survivors include three sons, Jack Cantrell of Wyoming, Robert Cantrell of Colorado and Ewell Cantrell Walton of Hot Springs; two daughters, Rebecca Burch of Wynne and Melinda McCown of Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Lena Dell Capehart, 92, Tulsa, Okla., died at her home March 20, 1978. She was a native of Dardanelle, a daughter of the late William Henry and Annie Sullivan. She was a Methodist.
Survivors are five sons, Leonard Capehart, Bixby, Okla., Harold Capehart, San Diego, Calif., Dr. Sam Capehart, Las Vegas, Nev., Dr. Maurice Capehart, Tulsa, and Dr. John Capehart, Jenks, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, M.P. Capehart, and a daughter, Annie Sue Capehart.

William Corey Capehart, 85 died Thursday September 13, 2012 at Chambers Memorial Hospital. He had been a resident of Mitchells Nursing Home for the past three years. He was born September 4, 1927 to William George and Lena Capehart of Bonham, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved brother, Joe Bailey, and young son Walter.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Moudy and a son Mark Moore and wife Jenni of Spokane, WA. He was a perpetual member of the Masonic Lodges of Belleville, and Danville. Also a member of Miracle Outreach Ministries of Belleville and the First United Methodist Church of Danville.

Mrs. Meekie Capshaw, aged 59 years, died suddenly at the home of her sister, Mrs. R. C. Cope, in McAlester, Okla., last Sunday morning.
The remains were brought to this city Monday, and following a very beautiful funeral service at the First Methodist Church, conducted by the Pastor, Rev. Sam B. Wiggins, they were conveyed to Brearley Cemetery and in the presence of a large gathering of sorrowing relatives and friends were tenderly consigned to their last resting place. Mrs. Capshaw, as Mrs. B. H. Burnett, was for many years a resident of Chickalah. She was a woman of rare Christian character, generous, kindly, charitable, and it has been said of her that she was a mother to the entire community. Especially was she loved by the young people, who went to her for advice, instruction and comfort, and never did they go in vain. In caring for the sick, the needy and the distressed, she was a living example of the Master's divine injunction, and no woman ever did more, or more cheerfully, to relieve suffering and better the condition of her fellows than she. That she was universally loved was but natural, and now that she has been called from the activities of her noble life it is likewise natural that she be universally mourned. Mrs. Capshaw from girlhood had been a zealous, faithful member of the Methodist Church, active in all the duties and responsibilities and ever ready to give of her time and means in its support. K. L. "Doc" Carlson, age 71, of Dardanelle, AR died Friday, May 11, 2007 at Dardanelle Hospital. He was born October 4, 1935 at Menominee, MI to Eber Carl and Charlotte Ann Gardener Carlson. He worked as an Agri-Vet in Michigan, Illinois and Greenville, Mississippi before coming to Arkansas. He started a Veterinarian Clinic on Second Street in Dardanelle in 1968 then opened the Clinic on Hwy. 27 in early 1971.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eber Carl Carlson and a brother, Wayne.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Carla Carlson of Dardanelle, AR; his mother, Charlotte Gardener Carlson of Stephenson, MI; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and Tom Hurtado of Murphy, TX and Lynn and Ron hart of Pilot Point, TX; a son, Luke Carlson of Dardanelle, AR; brothers and a sister-in-law, John and Audrey Carlson of Muskegon, MI and Russell Carlson of Cape Coral, FL; four grandchildren; one great grandchild and numerous family and many, many friends.

Bruce Carmichael - Dead Man Found Near Waveland-The body of an unidentified man, about 50 years of age, was found near the railroad tracks three fourths of a mile west of Waveland yesterday morning around 7 a. m. The body was badly mangled, with both legs and one arm cut off.
The man had no billfold or identification papers and no teeth. He had apparently been dressed in an Arrow shirt and good dress pants. A laundry label on one pocket read M. Duncan. Another label on his underwear read CP19 or CR18. He had brown eyes and dark hair and was apparently of average height and build. A coroner's jury returned a verdict of accidental death caused by a train. Sheriff Earl Ladd, who has been investigating the accident, reported this morning that evidence indicated the man was a hobo who had been riding a west bound freight train. A brakeman on train 193, which arrives in Booneville at 2:25 a. m. told the sheriff there was one hobo on his train and described the man whose body was found fairly close. A brakeman on the east bound freight train which passed train 193 at Belleville said he saw a man standing on a flatcar. The engineer of the Rocket which was 23 minutes behind train 193, told Sheriff Ladd he saw something at the side of the tracks about where the body was found, but had not recognized it as a man. The man apparently fell from the flat car and was run over and dragged to his death. Michael L. Carnahan, 55, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Russellville, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at his home. He was born Nov. 6, 1950, in Monroe, La., and was a graduate of Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Carnahan.
Survivors include a son, Benjamin Carnahan of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Katie Carnahan of Memphis; his father, N. L. "Carney" Carnahan of Russellville; a brother, Richard Carnahan of Yell County; and a sister, Carole Burgess and husband, Richard, of Nashville, Tenn. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Shinn Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Ken Kalvesmaki.

Arlene E. Carpenter, age 90, of Hot Springs, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2011. She was born on July 8, 1920, at Rover, the daughter of William Sherman Blankenship and Dovie Lavona Blankenship. On December 16, 1939, she was married to Henry Carpenter.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mary Wood; one son-in-law, Sam Martin; one brother, Joe Blankenship and one sister, Lucy Blankenship. Arlene was a charter member of Heritage Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, who enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband, Henry, before he passed away.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William "Bill" and Trudy Carpenter, and Wesley L. and Peggy Carpenter, all of Royal; two daughters and one son-in-law, Henryetta Martin of Royal, and Brenda and Rick Driggers of Glenwood; one son-in-law, Charles V. Wood of Royal; grandchildren, Johnny Wood, Robert Wood, Diane Diggs, Dwayne Graves, Jason Carpenter, Eric Carpenter, Dee Dee Risques, Jeffrey Carpenter, Bryan Carpenter, Shawna Hellums, Angela Sanders, Melissa Ball, Robert Martin, Kenneth Martin, Terry Martin and Josh Mills; 26 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grand- children; two brothers, John Blakenship and Roy Blankenship; three sisters, Gracie Holloway, Gene Morrison and Ethel Reed; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Services were March 21, 2011, at the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs, with Bro. Gary Winters, Bro. Tom Story and Bro. George Lynch officiating. Mrs. Attie Allred Carpenter, age 89, of Bismarck, died Friday, April 19, 1974 at a nursing home at Hot Springs. She was born in Missouri and moved to Yell County in 1912. She was a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include her husband Chester Carpenter; two sons, Sam Allred of Detroit, Mich., Claude Allred of Dumas; one daughter Mrs. Maude Wehunt of Hot Springs; three step-sons, two step-daughters, eight grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Belle Carpenter, age 70 died at a Little Rock Hospital Monday, August 13, 1951. She has been a lifelong resident of Belleville and surrounding territory and was a member of the Havana Methodist Church.

Mr. Ernest Leon Carpenter, age 89 of Brighton Gardens Assisted Living in Winston-Salem, died Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, after a period of declining health. He was born in Havana, AR on July 6, 1918, the son of the late Ernest Columbus and Maude Beatrice Taylor Carpenter. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He enlisted in the Navy in 1935 and was promoted through the ranks to commander, retiring in 1965. During his service to his country, he was awarded eight engagement stars, two in the Mediterranean seas against Germany and Italy; four in the Pacific against Japan; and two in Korea. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received during the battle of Iwo Jima. Mr. Carpenter was also a qualified deep-sea diver. Mr. Carpenter was employed by R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in 1966, retiring in 1983 as supervisor of corporate accounts payable.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Adrian McBride and a sister, Earnestine "Tony" Latane Wright.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Thelma Ruth Ogburn Carpenter, a retired Navy lieutenant nurse; a son, Ernest Leon Carpenter, Jr. and wife Beth of Occidental, California; a daughter, Cynthia Latane Carpenter Davis and husband Robert of Mocksville, NC; four granddaughters, Erin Carpenter and Jovita Carpenter of Seattle, WA, and Chelsea Ruth Davis and Kali Sylvanna Davis of Mocksville, NC; a great granddaughter, Isabel Leon Weeks of Seattle; a sister, Nina Sue McBride Low and husband, L. Q. Low of Danville, AR and a sister-in-law, Darlene McBride of Ardmore, OK.
A military graveside service was conducted on Tuesday, May 27 at Forsyth Memorial Park, with Chaplain Rennie Adcock officiating. George Lee Carpenter, age 94, of San Mateo, California and formerly of Bluffton, AR died Monday, September 13, 1993 at his home. He was retired farmer and cattleman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Pearl Mathis Carpenter and a son, George Lee Carpenter, Jr. He was a Baptist and a member of the Bluffton Masonic Lodge.
Survivors are one son, Kenneth Joe Carpenter of Baton Rouge, LA; three daughters, Martha Sue Mobley of San Mateo, CA, Anna Ruth Conner of Los Angeles, CA and Janey Louise Laquey of Dublin, TX; 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren; two sisters, Dexter Balew of Springfield, OR and Hazel Smith of Rover, AR and a stepsister, Lessie Rhoades of Danville, AR.

Henry P. Carpenter, age 93, of Hot Springs, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010. He was born on August 21, 1917 in Crystal Springs, the son of William Jackson Carpenter and Nancy Elizabeth Fisher Carpenter. On December 16, 1939, he was married to Arlene Blankenship.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Wood; his parents; and five siblings, Dorothy Carpenter, Pearl Carpenter, Al Carpenter, Winford Carpenter and Ted Carpenter.
A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, he worked as a mechanic and served in a unit that transported to and from the front lines known as the Red Ball Express. He was the owner and operator of Henry's Jewelers, a former employee of Bendix Aircraft in Indiana and served as a Baptist minister. He was a volunteer fireman for the Piney Volunteer Fire Department and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene Carpenter of Hot Springs; four children and their spouses, Henryetta Martin of Royal, William Henry "Bill" and Trudy Carpenter of Royal, Wesley and Peggy Carpenter of Royal and Brenda and Rick Driggers of Glenwood; sixteen grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

John Eugene Gene Carpenter entered this world on July 5, 1924 in the Walnut Grove Community. He graded our roads in Yell County, built houses in this area, roamed the hills and fished the streams around Havana for 74 years. He also enjoyed farming and gardening. The Lord went to his house on March 19, 1999 and called him to come up higher to be with Him. He was the son of Charles and Amy Adair Carpenter. He sailed the turbulent seas with the U. S. Navy during WWII to help save our Country. He came home from California and went to see his sister, Inez, and there he met Mary Lee Nolan. It was her 16th birthday. That was the beginning of a short courtship and before long they were married. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary last Friday, March 12th. To this union was born Linda, Charles, Polly and Robin.
He was preceded in death by three sisters Christine and Joyce Carpenter and Inez Truett.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Nolan Carpenter; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Sharon Carpenter and Robin and Cindy Carpenter all of Havana; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Underwood and Polly and Glenn Goodwin all of Havana; nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; three nephews arch one niece.
He was a friendly, out-going, "happy-go-lucky" kind of guy. He was a good husband, a wonderful dad and a great "Papaw" He was known for his honesty and was al friend to anyone who needed a friend. When ill health took over his life and he couldnt get out much anymore, he would enjoy a friendly game of dominos and going to the coffee shop and catching up on the news. He gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized years ago under the teaching of Reverend E. O. Tackett who showed him the One who hung on "The Old Rugged Cross" and was saved by His "Amazing Grace" And in recent years he rededicated his life and had peace and reassurance that all was well with his soul and he was faithful to attend the House of the Lord when health permitted. He was affiliated with the Ascension Life Church where Reverend Gary Garner fed him the Word of God.
His farewell service was March. 22nd at the little church at Moore's Chapel, near Waveland with Rev. Gary Garner and Rev. E. O. Tackett officiating. Then his body was carried to the cemetery by Buddy Wright, David Ray Catlett, Bob Ball, Jerry Underwood, Wayne Fleming and Jake James with honorary pallbearers, Charlie Ward and Joe Apple nearby.
